Starter for: Alecto Carrow, Alice Longbottom, Frank Longbottom @alectocarrowx @alicealongbottom @franklongbottom-fm Where: Diagon Alley NYE Street Party When: after 22:00
Of all the people to encounter tonight, it had to be Frank Longbottom. Just his luck. Rabastan could feel his blood boiling as he stood with Alecto, maintaining a false expression of polite amicability as they chatted about when the babies were due. All the while, he was imagining the many ways that he could make Frank suffer. His fingers tightened around Alecto's waist, as much an involuntary reaction as to warn her to remain calm. They would have their revenge. But not here, with so many people to bear witness. All in good time. They had waited this long. A little longer wouldn't hurt.
Tumblr media
"Twins normally arrive earlier," he told Frank. "We're looking forward to it, and I'll be relieved for Alecto not to endure the full nine months."
He could have crucioed the man there and then. How he'd survived his cursed parcel, he would never know. It was but a small consolation that his lackies had been making Frank's life intolerable. News of their antics had made him laugh, though he desired far more than petty pranks.

Saw a tweet that said Langdon will be under a kind of scrutiny in season 2 for what will probably be the first time in his life. As a white (presumably) straight man, a doctor, married with two kids in a perfect nuclear family, clearly one of the more popular residents at the start of the season. He doesn't appear to have ever been in an unprivileged position before, until it's discovered he has an addiction. Versus now suddenly having to adjust to going through life with people having an existing prejudice against him as an addict. And I can't stop thinking about that because it will genuinely be so interesting to see. I believe the showrunners said that S2 will be Langdon's first shift back, and it'll be so damn interesting to see him needing to adjust to no longer automatically being trusted, to being watched more closely than ever before, have his judgement or skill questioned in ways he's not exactly used to. When a lot of the people around him, as women and/or people of color and/or neurodivergent people or poor and homeless people, have had to get used to at a way earlier point in their life. (And to which he certainly has at points contributed!)
And I'm just so genuinely excited to see how that might play out. I wouldn't be surprised if, at first, having to realise that makes him push back harder; people do often try to cling to the privilege they have/had when faced with a loss of it in another area. I think it'd be odd if this happened overnight. But seeing that shift gradually, letting him come to that realisation and adjust to a new way of being treated, recognise some things about his own treatment of people? It would be so interesting.

thinking about this quote in connection w/ frank and how he wore the mask of a u.s. marine with a wife and two kids and their picnics in the park to obscure the internal struggle of reconciling the family man (married maria after three months because he got her pregnant like any good man™️ would) and the soldier that enjoyed the violence

Starter for: Frank Longbottom @franklongbottom-fm Where: Hogsmeade When: afternoon
Revenge had been a long time coming. Rabastan was a very patient man. He was not easily riled. Frankly, he should have been sainted for his self-control with Longbottom until now. It had been many months since Frank nearly killed Alecto. Rabastan's temper was hanging by a thread, not because of Frank, but because he'd been dealing with Hestia Jones and the case of his mysterious doppelganger. He'd spent the afternoon in the Auror Department, answering questions and insisting on updates, while trying to get a look at every one of their wretched staff to see if any had yet fallen victim to the curse that would identify them. Nothing of interest happened. He didn't even have the enthusiasm to toy with Hestia's memory of when he cursed her.
So when Rabastan's path crossed with Frank's, he found himself unreasonably angry and decided - there and then - that he had finished biding his time. He was tired of witnessing injustice. He was done with the Ministry's hypocrisy and the oppression of purebloods. The war was still raging, its end far from sight. But this was a correction he could easily achieve. It was necessary to rectify the balance. It was correct to punish this crime.
He'd overheard where Frank would be sent later that afternoon. So he got there first and waited. He'd already cleared his schedule, having expected to be at the Ministry for some hours. By the time Frank appeared, Rabastan had calmed. He followed him with his eyes, his ice-like stare honing onto the other wizard's back as he moved through Hogsmeade's bustling streets. Hogwarts' students were out in full force, filling the cobbles and causing convenient distractions. Setting off behind Frank, he stepped quietly and decisively, moving with practised, predatory ease. The children ignored him, too engrossed in their antics to notice as he moved silently past. He caught him in an alley between two buildings, grabbing him from behind and forcing him into the shadows with his wand shoved firm against his neck. The sense of impending vengeance was exquisite, his stoic heart pulsing into life. Behind his mask, he smiled, satisfied.
Then they disappeared, heading to a Death Eater safehouse; a disused barn in the middle of nowhere. Rapidly, Rabastan released Frank and disapparated once more, moving to a higher vantage point to get a better look at him, trapped like a rat in a cage.

Mary Tamm plays model Jenny Hart, whose husband is the subject of an investigation, in Public Eye: How About It, Frank? (7.3, Thames, 1975)
#fave spotting#mary tamm#romana i#classic doctor who#romanadvoratrelundar#public eye#doctor who#how about it‚ frank?#1975#thames#pretty terrible pics I know but im still watching these on that Tube You know about bc my dvds are many many miles away#i think i probably only ever watched s7 the once because (outside of the fairly significant plot thread of the first two eps) i remember#almost nothing of this final series. actually‚ because the series (like most of its era) was shot out of sequence‚ this was actually the#very final episode to be shot. the much missed Tamm was early in her career here‚ with just a handful of screen appearances (tho she'd#had a stint with the well regarded Birmingham rep‚ so was hardly inexperienced). later in 75 she'd have her first real meaty role in the#BBC's adaptation of Muriel Spark's The Girls of Slender Means; then of course there was DW a few years away and cult tv immortality#she's good here‚ but hasn't much to do; the role is disappointing tbh‚ her character is a model and shows a mild spark of independence but#the script repeatedly defines her as the wife of another character and‚ particularly disappointingly (and fairly unusually for the show)‚#broadly supports the husband's chauvinistic viewpoint that she should be providing more wifely services ie. cooking and cleaning#it's dumb and irritating and it's very annoying to have Frank tell her she should learn to cook. idk‚ it's a bad moment in a bad sideplot#of a brilliant show. so it goes ig. but hey‚ always lovely to see Mary <3

Cursed Parcel for Frank Longbottom. @franklongbottom-fm
A neatly wrapped parcel appears on Frank's doorstep, delivered carefully by an elf ordered not to be seen. Attached is a note:
Dear Frank,
Belated Merry Christmas! Sorry we missed you this year. Give our love to Alice.
Warmest greetings from Uncle Sebastian & Aunt Gloria. xxx
Upon opening the box, a deadly curse will be unleashed. Magical particles can be inhaled, and touching the contents will bring the same effect: immediate sickness and prolonged organ failure. Still intent on revenge for Frank attacking Alecto, Rabastan tasked lackies to ensure Frank's relatives would neither visit him this Christmas nor send gifts.

@drcyn1c ... lyric starter.
it was my idea to hang out outside of work, but i wasn't sure what to actually do when it came to frank. and from the way he's looking at me, i'm not sure he knows either. "how about the farmer's market? should we go?" it's a quick walk. of course, i would know.
