Oki since someone asked for the Silver headcannons I'll post them, there's quite a few so I hope you enjoy!

Please let me know if I should put a warning

• Silver loves to look at the night sky to see the stars since he came from an apocalyptic future where ash and smog covered the sky

• Silver was originally part of Sonic's time but was transported 200 years into the future by Mephiles to insure the (rewritten) events of Sonic 06

• Silver enjoys botany

• Silver was taught English by Mephiles

• Silver knows seconds and days but has trouble when it comes to hours, weeks, months, and years

• Silver at first had trouble understanding how birthdays worked

• Silver was a lot shorter when he first met Sonic due to malnourishment, making him look like a 10-year-old (despite being 14)

• only Silver remembers the events of Sonic 06 due to Mephiles' interference

• Silver had to ask Sonic what certain words meant ex: parents, mom and dad, sister/brother, etc, etc, the first time he asked Sonic what family was, Sonic was, understandably, confused then worried, afterward, Silver had asked Shadow instead only to get the same results (albeit less obvious) so now he only asks if he can't figure it out on his own

• Silver gained the ability of foresight, albeit weak, (after Sonic 06) and is only able to use it when meditating (this is so that Silver doesn't have to appear JUST because "oh the future's in danger and he has to prevent it" like in the games)

• Silver can not tell when someone is being sarcastic and will take everything someone says literally, Charmy learned this the hard way when he told Silver to "throw the bucket of water at Sonic" Sonic was knocked unconscious with Tails panicking, safe to say Charmy learned his lesson and was later grounded by Espio when he found out

• Silver's first "food" when Mephiles sent him back was ham sandwiches

• when Shadow had to keep an eye on Silver, (along with Rouge and Omega, due to him getting a head injury because Shadow "accidentally" kicked him and Rouge felt it was their mostly his responsibility to take care of him till he recovers) he saw Silver laying on the ground outside, when Shadow walked over Silver looked at him with big eyes saying "it's so small" with the tone of an amazed child, upon closer inspection Shadow found out that he was referring to a caterpillar he found eating a leaf, Rouge was there recording the whole thing

• Silver managed to make Shadow smile when he first saw snow and started acting like a child on his first snow day

• Silver never told anyone about the events of 06 after the "time-line reset" thinking it was best left forgotten (that and he's afraid of what everyone will think should he tell them that he helped a man, who no longer exists, almost end the world)

• Silver sleeps at 12:40 but will wake up at 4:00 IN THE MORNING just because he's still not used to the concept of time, the only reason why everyone knows this is because one-time Sonic let Silver stay the night at his and Tails place, and Tails ended up finishing a project at 4:33 AM the boy walked out of his lab expecting for Sonic and Silver to be asleep, only to get the absolute daylights scared out of him when he finds Silver (trying to but shh!) Reading a book at the kitchen table, Silver fell out of his chair and Sonic came down running (but not without falling off his bed and hitting his head hard) to check on them, after that they told everyone of Silver's "messed up" sleep schedule

• Silver is illiterate but is trying his best to learn how to read without anyone knowing, so far no one suspects a thing

• Silver has quite a bit of pain tolerance given the fact that Knuckles dislocated his shoulder once and Silver didn't even flinch, even after they fixed it by taking him to a doctor

• Silver can not stay in one place for too long, given the fact that he traveled all over the place in the apocalyptic future, it was only a given that the habit never died, of course, Sonic and co can keep him from leaving by simply keeping him busy, this has helped greatly with surprise party's

• Silver's first "language" was just a mix-mash of 40 other languages

• if Silver doesn't use his psychokinesis he can end up building up too much energy for his body to handle, so what happens if he can no longer handle it you may ask? Chaos, absolute chaos, he ends up acting like Charmy on a sauger rush and Sonic when he has coffee, his abilities go haywire and he doesn't even know it, the worse part is, the only reason he did stop using his psychokinesis is because he made a bet with Shadow to see who can go the longest without using their abilities, Rouge, of course, recorded the whole thing, along with Omega, no one has let him live it down since

• the gold bracelet things (what are they even called?) Silver has can store excess energy and it can store a lot, (so combine that with energy build-up)

• Silver has nightmares of when his primary caretakers were killed, (PTSD?) Though sometimes it would be about Blaze, Amy, Sonic, Shadow, or all of them, sometimes it's them getting killed or them leaving him once they remember or find out about the events of 06, which is why he tries his best to act as normal as everyone else, though sometimes it's about Mephiles telling him things, he tries to bury those memories

• Silver didn't know it at the time but he and Mephiles had a father-son relationship before he realized Mephiles was using him, it saddens him knowing that he might never have that type of relationship again

• Silver sometimes reminds Shadow of Maria with how he acts when he sees/ learns something new

• Silver, Shadow and Sonic have a brotherly relationship, Silver being the young oblivious brother, Sonic being the carefree middle brother, and Shadow being the strict older brother

• Silver may act like a child most of the time but if someone gets in his way of survival, he will go stone cold

• Silver's boots are made of metal so they weigh quite a bit, of course, the only reason why everyone knows this is because when Shadow "accidentally" knocked him unconscious, he, along with Rouge, tried to drag him inside only to find out his boots weighed him down and had to be removed, this lead to the discovery that Silver was underweight, (they left his boots outside, covered by a box because they didn't want to bother trying to move them inside)

• Amy and Vanille were the first to find out that Silver had quite the sweet tooth, he likes marshmallows best

• Silver gets vocabulary lessons from Amy while taking cooking and health lessons

• Vanille makes sure that Silver eats whenever she gets the chance, like a worried mother

• Silver's teeth are surprisingly healthy, just not the cleanest... with a little bit of red staining (though people assume that it's because his gums bleed and not because he ate something he shouldn't have) Amy had to teach him how to brush and had to remind him to brush every night until it became a good habit of his, his teeth are also pretty sharp for a hedgehog (I wonder why)

• due to multiple reasons, (take a guess) most of Sonic Co think that Silver didn't have a great upbringing, with most of them assuming that he had strict parents and lived during a famine in a dry/hot area that was prone to violence, which they aren't wrong but they are?

• with Silver's fear of fire, one would think that he and Blaze didn't get along, but the opposite is true, Blaze keeps using fire at a minimum when he's around and if she did use it then she'd give ample warning time and space before she does it, in return Silver stays close to the ground so he doesn't "trigger" her fear of heights

• Silver does not know anything about romance, so when he starts to suddenly feel odd around Blaze, ex: abnormal heart rate, weird feeling in his stomach, warm cheeks, etc, he asks Amy about it, (mostly because she's been teaching him about health) and she gets excited and tells him about love (she's secretly cupid, fight me)

Today's issue is a bit bittersweet. While Karl Bollers hasn't always been the most popular writer, and I've definitely had my fair share of problems with certain aspects of his writing, it's hard to deny the heavy impact he had on the world of the comic. And this just so happens to be his last issue as a writer! That's right, though we've seen various writers come and go, this is the first time we're truly saying goodbye to a head writer. (You might be wondering about Michael Gallagher given his increasingly infrequent involvement with the series, but fear not, he's still got a few more future issues left in 'im.) Apparently he actually had quite a few plans for the storyline and characters post-StH#134, which was a while ago, but for one reason or another these never came to fruition, and never even had a chance to be salvaged for future issues by other writers due to his leaving the comic. So let's dedicate this issue to ol' Karl and the hard work he put into this comic, and appreciate what he brought to the table over the years. Onward!

It's the night of Mina's second concert, and the various Freedom Fighters are positioned at strategic points around and behind the stage and crowd to guard the venue from any more assassination attempts. Mina is pleased with Sonic's involvement in her protection detail, but Ash is considerably less so, and asks to speak to Mina privately before her performance. Sonic initially tries to refuse to leave her side given his duty to her, but when Ash gets in his face about it Mina steps in and tells Sonic she'll be okay to have a quick chat. Sonic reluctantly leaves the dressing room, and Ash confronts Mina about her decision to go through with tonight's concert, as he really feels it's too dangerous. She reiterates her feeling of security with Sonic around, and Ash's feelings of jealousy finally spill out as he details Sonic's perceived failings, including how he (totally unintentionally mind you) broke her heart a year ago by kissing Sally in front of her. He paradoxically refuses to "forgive" Sonic for… not dating Mina, I guess? Which you'd think he'd be pleased about considering that's the only reason he ever got to date her, but she stands firm against his tirade.

Really bad timing on this, Ash. Honestly, though, as abrasive and jealous as Ash can be, he's not wrong at all about his accusations, and in my opinion has every right to feel slighted and upset. He really does seem like a guy who's flawed yet genuinely likable - I mean, put yourself in his shoes (assuming you're not down for open relationships) and tell me you wouldn't feel the exact same way upon seeing your girlfriend routinely eyeing up another guy. Plus, he isn't flaky - notice that despite breaking up with Mina, he explicitly states his intentions to remain as her band manager. A lesser person might have left their ex high and dry out of spite, but despite their disagreement he's still completely ready and willing to help her organize everything she needs to remain a pop star. Careful, Mina, you better remember "Aly's" advice to you from a few issues ago before you let this guy slip through your fingers…

Outside the room, Sonic gets a call from Sally looking for an update, and when he lets slip that he let her stay in her dressing room alone Sally scolds him for not sticking to her like glue, ordering him back into the room to check on her. When he enters he's surprised to see her sitting alone with a sad expression, asking her what's bothering her. You'd think he'd have some clue of what was wrong considering he would have just seen Ash angrily stomping right through the very door he was guarding, but Mina just says she doesn't know how to explain, which Sonic quietly agrees with the sentiment of. She's able to collect herself for her performance, though, and begins by singing another song that definitely feels inspired by her crush on Sonic. However, Eggman's plan to kill her is still moving ahead, and he sends out Heavy and Bomb (well, Bombs, there's a lot of them) to infiltrate the concert crowd once the concert is well underway.

Sonic immediately grabs Mina and pulls her away from the edge of the stage while the rest of the Freedom Fighters rush in to battle the Bombs, something which I find funnier than it should be considering they're, well, bombs, and the best plan for dealing with bombs on legs would usually be to run the hell away from them before they blow up. Nevertheless, they seem to be holding their own by throwing or smacking the Bombs away before they explode, though Ash finds an excuse in the situation to insist once more than Sonic leave so he can protect Mina on his own, even somewhat spitefully pointing out that Mina was fine without Sonic for an entire year before now. Sonic initially refuses, but when Heavy himself arrives, crashing down onto the stage to target Mina directly, Sonic concedes and tells Ash to take her somewhere safe while he fights the robot one on one. At first Sonic teases and trash talks as normal, but when Heavy gives him more trouble than he bargained for he concocts a plan to drill into the earth and bait Heavy into following him, then drill straight into the nearby lake from below. This washes them both out into the open waters, disabling Heavy in the process. I'm not sure exactly how this plan even works, considering we've seen in previous issues that Heavy is waterproof - I mean, did Eggman take out that feature when he rebuilt him? - but either way, it does work, though Sonic falls unconscious once he gets washed out. Man, between his first battle against M in StH#132 and his easy escape from a watery grave in Anti-Mobius just a few issues ago, it really seems like later comic issues like to play fast and loose with the whole "he can't swim" character trait. Sometimes he can detangle himself from tight rope bonds and swim to safety without a problem, and other times he blacks out within scant seconds of touching water, and you never know which one you're gonna get till the plot calls for it. Of course, he's fine after waking up on shore, having been rescued by Bunnie, and the Freedom Fighters tell him that as far as they can tell they disabled or destroyed every Bomb in the area, meaning Mina is safe once more. With the threat ended, Sonic and Mina say goodbye to each other for the night, with Sonic making Mina promise they'll go out for chili dogs sometime soon. However, this wouldn't be a story if something didn't go wrong…

I like to think that this isn't even a case of the Freedom Fighters randomly missing a Bomb, rather being part of Eggman's plan - send in the big, obvious cavalry first to be fought and predictably defeated, then send in one last little Bomb to finish the job once everyone's guard is down. The explosion alerts everyone outside the backstage area, and they rush in to find Mina sobbing over Ash's body. Don't worry, though - when they rush him to the hospital Dr. Quack is able to get him in a stable condition, meaning that though he has a long slow recovery ahead he'll ultimately be fine. Sonic escorts a distraught Mina into Ash's room, where she admits her true feelings to his sleeping form.

I'm surprised that Sonic genuinely seems a little disappointed at their reconciliation, but then again, he and Mina were clearly shown to have some chemistry even before the time skip, though Sonic was obviously drawn more to Sally. It seems that with he and Sally currently being on the outs, and Mina having split from Ash, he had actually considered taking the chance with her - I mean, they did agree to a chili dog date after all - but now that's obviously not happening. Well, maybe the chili dog date is, but not Sonic and Mina becoming an item. What I'm trying to say is, this page has just sunk your Sonic/Mina ship. Fortunately, with this second failure Eggman has decided that trying to kill Mina is too hard and not worth his time, so she should be safe for now. He still finds himself lamenting the loss of his robotic body, however (something that you'd think should be child's play for him to fix considering previously roboticizing himself is literally part of his backstory), finding his current organic body too breakable. The use of that word suddenly makes him pause, having just come up with a new idea… but Karl certainly won't be the one writing about it, as with that final line of dialogue, he's officially completed his time as head writer for the Archie Sonic comics! Sayonara, Karl Bollers - though there were certainly some rough patches, on the whole I enjoyed your work on the comic, and we'll miss ya!

More Than Meets the Eye

…though remember, we are still dealing with Penders for a few more issues yet. Since the mission into Megaopolis a couple issues ago, Rotor, Uncle Chuck, Tommy, Tails, and Snively (plus apparently Fiona, for some reason) have all been hard at work studying and trying to understand the nanites. They try blasting them with a ton of electricity, but when that elicits no response from the nanites Tommy worriedly thinks Snively killed them with the zap, though Snively corrects him that biologically speaking, they're not really "alive," nor is anything that Eggman makes. While you may be technically correct from a scientific standpoint, Snively, I think Nicole might have a thing or two to say about your assertion that machines can't be alive…

Well! It seems Tommy was also unconvinced by Snively's words, and his tear splashing down into the nanite goo triggers some kind of reaction, prompting them to rapidly spread out and reach tendrils of themselves towards him. He's understandably a little freaked out and retreats into his shell, but the nanites don't hurt him as they make contact with the shell - in fact, the sensation is ticklish and causes him to start giggling uncontrollably, which must make for a very weird sight as Uncle Chuck reenters the room to investigate the noise. Tommy assures him that he's all right - and then from out of nowhere, his shell sprouts a pair of goddamn wings, because why the hell not?

I initially took issue with this concept due to it being established canon that the nanites can only absorb and reshape non-living matter, whereas turtle shells are definitely living matter, being full of nerve endings and basically being formed from repurposed bone matter from the turtle's ribs and pelvis. However, the above dialogue seems to indicate that they were able to fuse with Tommy's shell anyway by connecting straight into his nervous system. I would guess that after Sonic introduced the nanites to the concept of organic and synthetic coexistence a couple issues ago, they were just waiting for the chance to "study" an organic specimen in their own weird way, and Tommy just happened to end up as their test subject.  Chuck and Tommy call everyone else in, where he notes that the nanites seem to react to his thoughts without said thoughts actually controlling the nanites directly. He demonstrates this by thinking vaguely that he wants to go somewhere, prompting a pair of jetpack engines to sprout from his shell and ignite, carrying him straight out of the lab and into the sky above Knothole. The others watch with an odd mixture of bemusement and amusement as the nanites fly Tommy's body in a pattern, using contrails to write "We're just going for a test drive" in the air. Well Tommy, looks like you have a really cool and unique new ability! It'd certainly be interesting to be fused with self-replicating nanomachines that react to your thoughts and wishes by morphing themselves in ways to grant those wishes, especially when they seem to actively like their host.

Why forces gets a cold reception

I wanted to go over some reasons why I think sonic forces has gotten a mixed reception off people.

As I've said I want this game to succeed, it's been in the works since 2014 and the future direction the franchise takes many depend on how well this game does.

*Classic sonic being there shows a lack of confidence in the modern era and feels like pandering.

*Green hill zone appearing in games non stop is starting to annoy people.

*The advertising campaign for the game has felt very scattershot, one thing makes people go “Wow” then another “Wut?”

Also on the character infinite, he has a nice design but his introduction trailer feels like it was trying too hard, on top of that the typical “Ow the edge” response due to the fact the fandom is rife with this meme culture further normalized by the official twitters antics(People have warned years of this could have effects on the brand)

What I think a problem is, is the tone. It feels like half of it is colours era comedy while the other half is a poor mans adventure era tribute band therefore creating mood whiplash with the trailers. I've always been behind the idea of giving sonic a touch of edge and attitude back. For a feeling of high adventure that while light in places still takes itself seriously.

However in the case of tone, you can not have your cake and eat it too here. You must go with one or the other because kitchen sinking the tone will just make consumers feel you are trying too hard.

Even with the Infinite character, I love his theme but the way they sell it to us with the slow motion black and white opening comes off as some bad linkin park AMV. That's not me saying edge is bad but rather if you try too hard to be edgy people will just laugh at the attempt.

Picture if they did the same trailer but the music was more in the background so you could hear the characters, animation was a bit faster and we didn't have the black and white filter opening? I bet 50 bucks people would have responded a lot better.

Like I've said I want this game to do well and sega have had a lot of time to work on it so I'm going to give them a chance.

I would say to the people knocking this game right now, wait till the damn thing comes out before you judge it. Give the game a try and if it turns out as “Bad as you hoped” then  fair game, but stop judging the damn thing before we get a first hand taste of it.

The problem is… without Amy going into ‘heat’ and having her smell exposed there wouldn’t really be a ‘trigger’. The squeak is also done through instincts along with the natural smell.

She would definitely be weirded out by his animistic advances, considering he would be pulled towards the alluring smell and his body would start shifting into Instincts without him knowing it until he was already trapped in his mind’s eye.

Then, knowing Sonic, he would fight to reclaim himself, but his instincts would just be trying to flatter up Amy.

But again, without Amy’s instincts, Sonic’s instincts wouldn’t have fallen for her anyway. How would he communicate? Amy would see his eyes shift but wouldn’t understand what that meant either unless Tails explained it but then Amy wouldn’t be in love with his Instincts and try and help Tails to control them too.

It would definitely be a new story :)

So I’ll do a little ditty in this regards- Amy and Tails have noticed a ‘shift’ in Sonic’s behaviors. During April (hedgehog mating season. where Instincts are more easily triggered) Sonic disappears and stays as far away from everyone and humanity as much as possible. However.. Amy, being worried about him, goes out to try and find him.

Miraculously, as usual, she does! Though… was that really a good thing..?

Prompt:

“Sonic!”

“Amy… you can’t be here… It’s not safe here.” Sonic slowly started stepping back, his face looking as though he was fighting something, and losing…

His face was pulled back, looking worried and a bit faint.

His ears drew back, something Amy hadn’t see before.

“Sonic..?” She came more towards him. “What’s wrong? You look like your about to fall over…” She leaned down, holding a feminine hand upwards before her quills draped over her cheeks…

This swishing motion sent her scent hovering through the air, spreading out, till it reached Sonic’s nose…

His eyes widened, clenching his teeth as he struggled to not breath.

“…Sonic… you’re scaring me…” Amy straightened herself out, holding her hands together. “Me and Tails are awfully worried about you… you’ve been gone for so long… it’s making us fear that something really bad is happening to you.”

She stepped forward, a branch cracking under her weight.

“Stop!” Sonic clutched his head, feeling the rushing of adrenaline and the ever strong pull of letting the beast out, of letting his Instincts take over and move closer to Amy…

Her smell… most girls didn’t trigger his instincts, but recently, he had been having dinner with her and moved to try and smell the food.

But it wasn’t the food that was drawing him in, wetting an appetite he hadn’t realized before.

Ever since his nose drifted to her, he had been distant ever since, warning Tails not to say a word, since Females don’t have instincts anymore. Tails said they were too ‘evolved’ now, but that males, if the female’s scent was strong enough to pull it out, could still trigger and unleash the instinct form.

In fear of that happening, his will being subjected to his more primal, inner being; he had avoided her at all cost during this time of year…

When her alluring scent… was at it’s strongest.

Most months, she was just fine. And therefore, so was he.

But come around April…

“Sonic!” Amy lunged foward, seeing him fall to his hands and knees, gripping the ground as if for dear life, squinting his eyes shut as his body twitched.

“You shouldn’t have come here…” he mumbled, faintly, as Amy’s eyes scanned his trembling being to try and find a clue, a trace of help for her to intervene and soothe him with.

She lightly placed a hand to his back, but with instincts on the verge of emerging, his eyes shot open at the sensation of touch.

In Instinct form, he was told everything would be heightened. Sense, touch, smell… everything…

Even strength.

He found himself slowly losing grip of reality and even his own fear subsided as he had to breath.

With her so close, her scent engulfed him, and slowly his power to control what was happening began to slip…

He leaned up, to the crook of her neck, and breathed in the heavenly aroma that drove his being into a wild frenzy of desire…

His eyes blinked softly down, before rising as his pupil’s had shifted to a cat’s diamond eye…

Instincts //// (<– claw marks, a nod to my original story)

Instinct Sonic’s eyes dilated a few times, showing his immense interest in this new scent, but also looking around at himself.

It was the first time he was fully alive, fully present. Since his other had always shunned him away and pushed him down from ever being exposed to the sensation of being free for a change.

He examined his surroundings, no foreign scents to claim the terrain…

He better act fast.

He suddenly darted passed her, rubbing the under part of his scent gland, now fully active from the release of Instinct Sonic, over trees and bushes, darting around to claim his territory.

And the female present…

Amy turned around, looking confused. She got up a bit before he darted back to her, nipping annoyingly at her quills to pull her down so he could smell behind her quills again.

“Ahh!” Amy blushed, being pulled down so… violently? It wasn’t aggressive, no… it was just…

“W-what are you-!?” she pushed away a minute, more spooked than afraid though, as Instinct Sonic pushed his head further into the back behind her head.

Her scent glands weren’t strong…. but her scent on the other hand…

He then took his muzzle out from under there and shook to get the spiky quills out of his face, looking dead into her eyes.

She had closed her eyes in shock, before blinking them open and showing her withdrawn expression, before awing the new shape of his pupil in his eyes..

“What…” she reached a hand up, not caring that he was over her at the moment but still in a bit of shock. “What happened to your eyes..?”

Her touch sent a signal that excited his whole being into a feeling of pleasure.

He lowered his eyes and rubbed his scent gland on it, enjoying the touch.

She’ll do. He declared to himself, looking down at her again, before lowering his chin to her.

He waited for her to respond, but because Amy didn’t have any instincts, too evolved for that matter, he rose it back up and looked perplexed.

She wasn’t acting like an animal at all.

‘Let me out of here!’ Sonic’s true voice, and real self, seemed to bang a mental headache into Instinct Sonic.

He leaned away, shaking his head.

‘I swear, if you do anything to Amy, I’ll-!’

He had no control over his body, was just stuck as if an annoying spectator to Instinct Sonic.

He huffed, not liking his ‘other’s voice’ within his head.

Silent, please. I’m claiming us a female.

Instinct Sonic sent a snarky response back through his thoughts, and if he wasn’t an animal, he probably would have chuckled too.

‘Claiming..? What’s that? Amy’s not someone you can just take!’ Sonic continued to fight and struggle, his voice hounding on Instinct Sonic as he strained his head down, and started to crawl off and away from Amy.

Annoying. You’re so annoying!

Instinct Sonic then looked up at the female.

Amy? she calls herself… Amy? And I am..?

‘You’re nothing! Just something I have to deal with later!’ Sonic threatened, trying to get himself free.

Instinct Sonic thrashed his head around, his other was strong…

Amy slowly got up, still breathing quietly but profoundly.

What on earth was going on with Sonic..?

Who is Amy to you? Instinct Sonic turned his head, as if figuratively speaking to his Other within his mind…

‘Gah! Urffh! … ha… she’s my friend.’ Sonic was growing exhausted, as Instinct Sonic could feel that…

Friend?

Suddenly, Instinct Sonic moved around Amy, circling her as she started to get up.

He kept himself low to the ground, an indication that he wanted her, but she was moving as if about to leave, threatening his authority over the area as it’s new alpha.

Why isn’t she respecting me? What an odd female… it’s like she can’t communicate or something. Is she defective?

‘What!? No! Amy doesn’t have any idea who or what you are!’ Sonic countered from within, but this time, Instinct Sonic listened. ‘She’s not an animal! You are!’

She’s not-?… Ah, she’s still an Other.

Instinct Sonic rose up, realizing his normal tactics of what his ‘body’ told him to do, wouldn’t work with her.

A Hedgehog Female is still a Hedgehog Female… I have my ways.

Again, if he wasn’t an animal, he would have smirked at the challenge.

She kicked away but he came closer, trying to look more submissive to be able to be granted closer access to her.

She’s a stubborn one, just like the rest of them before they’re claimed. Instinct Sonic commented, seeing that her actions weren’t uncommon though.

‘She’s backing away not to reject you, but because she’s afraid! Leave her alone!’

Instinct Sonic lightly moved to try and rub her foot with his scent, showing no harm or ill-intent, but she pulled it away, making him growl slightly at her rudeness.

She doesn’t even want to become friends. I thought you said she was one to you, already? Instinct Sonic couldn’t understand Others culture. He only knew his own, which was an ancient culture long since forgotten in the Hedgehog spieces.

Sooner or later, he knew that him and his Other would merge, their will’s syncing into one accord. Where Sonic would have better control over his Instincts, and his Instincts would still empower him.

But for now, he was a still a embodiment of Sonic’s natural desire, senses, reflexes… basically…

His body.

‘I mean it! Leave her alone!’

I like this Female. She’s coming to apologize.

Amy lifted a hand out, still spooked but willing to try and understand what was happening.

Her hand gently moved forward, twitching a little as she saw him shift and move closer.

He let her hand rest on his forehead, showing in Hedgehog language- trust.

See…? I only want to get to know you… Protect you in my territory. Instinct Sonic kept his head low, giving her a sense of security, or at least, that what it should have showed.

If she could read into it, she would have realized that him exposing his belly later on was a form of kinship, showing he meant her no ill-will and also that his intention was to be closer to her.

She didn’t understand him rolling over but let out a scoff, more so to let out the tension than being sparked into humor by it.

“What on… earth are you… doing, Sonic?” she breathed out, a nervous grin on her face, as he continued to rub his back against the ground. “You’re acting like a dog.” she stated, as he turned to look up at her from a curved tilt of his lowered body.

What is she saying? I can’t understand her strange noises, but I hear Sonic a lot.

‘She’s comparing you to a dog!’ Sonic seemed frustrated, ‘Great, there goes my carefully constructed image…’

Image? Instinct Sonic tilted a ear up and one down, showing his curiosity in these strange words.

Well, now I’m bored.

He flipped around, and attempted once again to draw closer to Amy.

“Ah!” She moved away, but he swiftly got over her again, making her eyes widened as he came down lower, as if lay down.

“What… what are you..!? Sonic, get off of me!” she pushed, he was amazed by her strength.

Strong female. Instinct Sonic amused. Her young will be quite formidable at survival.

‘Young!? You leave her alone!’

Suddenly, as Instinct Sonic went in to try and seduce her neck, which would keep her on her stomach instead of what he was expecting her to do; which would be to flip around and spike him as she curled into a ball, starting the courtship process…

However…

“BACK! Back, I say!”

Instinct Sonic whimpered and cried out in pain as he scampered away, before turning back, hobbling on an arm and his legs because his shoulder was stabbed with something hot and stingy.

What was that?!

He growled, turning and spiking his quills up threateningly.

A predator had attacked him! Trying to steal or eat his female!

‘Or a taser to get you to stop assaulting my friend!’ Sonic seemed to sarcastically spit out from his mind.

I was properly going to mate with her! There wasn’t any harm in any of my intentions! Instinct Sonic snapped back.

‘That sounds like harm to me!’

Then you are selfish. How do you expect to grow in strength and power without loyal females? Especially an Alpha!

‘FEMALES!? You mean.. you’re not saying.. Ah crap.’ Sonic realized then,…

Hedgehogs don’t mate for life.

“Stay back, Amy! I should have told you sooner!”

“Tails!?”

Amy got up, as Tails held out the taser, it’s electrical shocks zapping out and spooking Instinct Sonic as he snarled at it.

He barked, a warning for the fox to scram.

“N-now… I know that in your mind… right now.. you see me as a timeless enemy…” Tails tried to talk the out of control hedgehog down, but also kept thinking that Sonic could come back if he just stayed away from Amy’s scent long enough.

Amy slightly hid behind Tails, but was confused on what he was saying and why he seemed to know what was going on.

“But I assure you… in this modern age and time… I’m very much a recent ally.” He nodded, terrified the animal would come at him.

Which…

Instinct Sonic leaned back, getting ready to spring.

“Run!” Tails flew up, twirling his tails and gripping Amy bridal style as he soared up.

Instinct Sonic leaped up and clawed the air, but came back down, running along after them.

“Wait, what happened to Sonic? Why is he not using his super speed? Why is he on all FOURS!” Amy kept asking questions, as Tails just looked super apologetic.

“Alright, alright. I promised I wouldn’t tell you but this seems important!” Tails flew up to a tree, holding Amy steady as the two looked down.

Instinct Sonic growled, annoyed, as he paced the tree.

The two breathed deeply, before Tails finally sighed, trying to relax a little now that they were safe.

“He’s shifted into his Instinct form. Let me explain. In Instincts, it’s just your body taking over. It’s not necessarily a split personality, but your inner animal coming through.”

Instinct Sonic jumped up the tree, before falling down and sliding since his nails weren’t long or sharp enough through the gloves, and pounced back down, shaking his head, huffing in frustration.

He moved swiftly in a circle around the tree, wanting Amy now more than ever.

“Those grunts… it’s communicating.” Tails pulled out his MilesElectric.

“Communicating!? You’re saying… Sonic turned into a… a …”

“An ancient, primal Hedgehog. Correct. But he’s still there. You’re more advanced in that females evolve faster than most males. If a scent is strong enough, it will trigger this until the two merge and are in sync. Then instinct won’t have a say in the matter, it will just be Sonic. But look!” Tails squinted his eyes, trying to explain but also work at the same time.

“The screen says… if that fox eats her, I’ll rip out the flesh of his throat…” Tails gulped, rubbing lightly along his throat light, turning pale.

“Wait, let me see that.” Amy took the device, and then looked to Tails. “Can you reverse this? Maybe I can communicate with him.”

“Grunts are tough to translate, but he… he’s um… you shouldn’t try and do ANYTHING with him.” Tails didn’t know how to explain the REAL predicament at this current time.

He just hoped to dissuade her.

“Really, I’m sure he’ll shift back once your scents far enough.”

“I’m going down.” She started to climb down.

“NO! WAIT!” Out of love for his friend, he tried to frantically reach down to her, but she slid faster than he could, with the device in hand.

“AMY…!!!” Tails let out a high-pitch sound of worry, his eyebrows back in panic and his hands reaching up to pull his ears down.

“Please, Chaos. Don’t let him hurt her. I don’t know if I can keep her safe from a doubly-powerful Sonic right now!” he nervously bit at his gloved thumbs. “Be careful, Amy! He’s… well, he’s-”

“Wild, got it.” And nodded up to him, confident, as Tails covered his face.

“I was gonna say ‘into you’ but…” he lightly mumbled.

Amy moved towards Instinct Sonic, who frantically started sniffing her all around, trying to make sure she wasn’t hurt.

He let out a squeak, as Amy was shocked Sonic could even do that, and looked at the screen.

You’re alive! You’re alive!

“The screen… it’s saying… Aww, of course I’m okay, silly! It’s Tails!” Amy held the device close and smiled down to him. “Now… let’s see…” she tried to figure out how to speak back with the device, but Instinct Sonic started tugging on her dress, not liking her standing on only two legs.

It wasn’t natural to him, and he let dress go to peer up at her, shifting his eyes down to the ground to show her that he was upset by her ‘observation’ pose.

In hedgehog language, to stand on two feet meant to be searching for potential threats, because he was trying to ‘woo’ her so to speak, he wanted her to feel safe enough to breed with him…

“Haha, aren’t you needy.” Amy sat down, reaching to pet his head as he didn’t understand the custom she was doing.

Though it felt amazing… he wondering what she was trying to communicate.

What does this mean? In your lanuage?

‘It means sit, boy. Don’t move.’ Sonic lied, sounding frustrated and overly annoyed he couldn’t do anything about what was happening.

Instinct Sonic, fairly innocent at just being released into the world, sat down and let her scratch his forehead and ears.

Is that a good thing?

‘Shut up…’

“Ah, ha! Got it!” Amy clicked the button, and turned the screen to Instinct Sonic.

An electric simulation of grunts was heard, as Instinct Sonic’s ears perked, and he sniffed the screen.

The device stated, I want you to return to normal Sonic, please.

He huffed, biting at the device.

I am Sonic! he growled.

Amy played tug-a-war a moment with the device before falling back down, turning on her stomach to try and see what the device said.

“What? You are not!” She angrily disagreed, before feeling his breath on her back…

Her quills shook unsteadily and she turned around, seeing him about to lick her and shoving his head away.

“EW! Quit it!” she hollered out, then looked up to Tails. “What’s wrong with him!? It’s like he’s trying to mount me or some-”

Her eyes suddenly widened.

“TAAAAILLSS!!!”

He looked even more apologetic, sweat dropping and lightly chuckling.

“Surprise..? You’re the only female around!”

“YOU COULD HAVE WARNED ME!” Amy struggled to speak to him while also getting the feisty and apparently ‘turned on’ hedgehog off of her!

“IS THIS WHAT YOU MEANT BY- ANIMAL!?”

“…Yes.” Tails fiddled with his fingers, before dropping them and his head down, showing how embarrassed he was at not being able to fully communicate it.

Sonic, within himself, suddenly had conjured enough strength, Amy’s scent fading enough so through the increase of wind that he burst from his sub-conscious- gaining control over his body once more.

“AH!” He stopped fighting Amy, looking down in terror as he realized he had won the war.

His hands were to the side of himself, and Amy blinked, before he flung himself off of her and started dashing away.

“Wait..!” Amy reached a hand out, but Tails jumped down, sparking the taser around with his eyes closed, clutching it in one hand.

“GO-GO-GO!!” Tails frantically tried to be a hero, but Amy stopped his wild flailing to show that Sonic had left.

“I think he came back to his old self, I need to talk to him!”

“Are you crazy!?” Tails looked shocked, “He almost-!”

“I would have been fine, Tails! He only wishes he could win against me in wrestling. But I have to let him know it’s okay! It wasn’t him!”

“Amy-!” Tails gripped her arm, and pulled her back to him. “It was him.”

He held her directly in front of him, making her stop a moment, remembering what Instinct Sonic had said on the device’s translator.

“…Amy…” Tails looked like he was having a hard time explaining this, and took a deep breath. Calming himself down, he continued, opening his eyes.

“Sonic was triggered because he liked your scent. He likes… well,… he’s naturally attracted to you, Amy. Instincts only heightens that. I’m sure he’s feeling guilty and ashamed right now that he couldn’t fight off his Instincts as soon as he had hoped… but for now, staying away from you until your natural scent goes down is probably for the best.” He patted her shoulders, seeing her shocked expression, and realizing what he was saying.

“When April rolls over, and you smell normal again,” He nodded his head and gave her a funny look, only trying to play around and lighten the mood a moment. “Then you two can talk about this. Until then, I think it’s best to leave him with some alone time. Agreed?”

Amy’s mouth dropped, “He likes me?”

Tails sucked in his lips.

“I never said that.”

“You were about too.” Amy’s face suddenly lit up, her hands covering her mouth. “And you just said he’s naturally in to me. Which is why his Instinct also was trying to get cocky with me, right?”

“Let’s not use that terminology.”

“Ah! He loves me!” Amy jumped for joy, kicking her feet up and holding her arms out wide. “Yes! I knew it!”

“Is that really all you’re getting out of this?” Tails spread his arms out, before rolling his eyes as he leaned forward. “Sheesh. Unbelievable.”

Tails flew her home… just to be safe.
