I truly believe that the Raijinshuu is still one of the STRONGEST teams in Fairy Tail; even if they rarely get a chance to show it. (A Ramble~)
For the record, I adore Hiro Mashima. He's a creative soul and wonderful writer with drive I could only dream of. But nobody, not even the man himself, could convince me that he had any idea what to do with the Raijinshuu after their debut.
According to the Volume 13 Afterword, Mashima created the team on a whim along with the entire plot for the Battle of Fairy Tail. He wanted to create an arc centered around Laxus, and things like the Harvest Festival/Fantasia and the ideas for the Raijinshuu just came to him naturally for this arc. We actually almost had a different arc entirely—which means that Freed, Evergreen, and Bickslow almost didn't exist... at least not in the way we know them today.
They served their purpose in the BoFT. And what happens after that? They are nerfed and sidelined unlike ANY other character. Yeah, a ton of characters get overshadowed and nerfed as the series goes on, but I wholeheartedly think the Raijinshuu has it the worst. The last time they're given any sort of justice is on Tenrou Island when they fight Rustyrose (but I'll ramble about that more in another post!)
Despite being a part of Team Tenrou, they are the only three that are CONSTANTLY left out. And over the course of the series, are pushed back into total background characters to having their characters and dynamic assassinated in the 100YQ. Considered nothing more than 'Laxus' Cheerleaders/yes-men.' Even in the newer Fairy Tail games they are COMPLETELY left out aside from a mention or two. (Not even DLC!! Like, WTH?!?!) I refuse to believe they are THAT expendable. (I've mentioned it before, but they are also some of the few Fairy Tail/Team Tenrou members with ABSOLUTELY NO backstory!)
Okay, I may be over exaggerating a bit... or not enough tbh! It's been a while since I rewatched/reread the series so I'm just going off what I remember. But I know that these are amazing and underrated characters who are so unique in design and magic abilities.... a uniqueness that I sadly believe is their biggest downfall.
I don't think Mashima knows how to write their magic (especially their eye magic) without defeating the enemy too quickly or overshadowing the main cast. (Don't forget that this is the same team that defeated a DARK GUILD in just a few attacks—where Freed didn't even lift a finger, might I add!!) This is why every big enemy they face has been immune to their eye magic in one way or another. Either by wearing glasses or being ANYTHING but human. (Rustyrose, Tempester, Wall Eehto... just to name the main ones.)
The Raijinshuu never get the chance to play to their strengths before they're sidelined... over and over again.
Look, from a writing standpoint—I get it. Really. Their magic is super OP if used in the right way. And it's not much of a story if the heros win too easily, if there isn't any conflict, stakes, or a challenge for the characters to overcome. Especially coming from characters who aren't even part of the main cast. It would be way too easy if Evergreen just turned the enemy to stone before the battle even began... Or if Bickslow took control of their soul.... Or not even mentioning Freed having the power to trap and straight up kill with his magic. But I feel like there is a better way to go about writing it then just pushing the Raijinshuu to the side every arc or knocking them down at every opprotunity.
Even before the BoFT, they had to be pretty remarkable to impress Laxus—especially young Laxus—so I seriously doubt they just gave up trying to improve themselves once they became more involved in the guild or even post-timeskip. If anything, they would've had to train and work even harder to catch up with that seven year gap. No cheats like gaining access to their second-origin though Ultear's magic. Just pure training and dedication.
I truly believe, or pretty much headcanon at this point, that they are always training and pushing themselves to be stronger. That they're always improving their magic and have new spells we'll never get to see. That they still want to live up to their name as Laxus' bodyguards. They just seem weaker as the series goes on because they're not the main characters. Plain and simple. Besides, you can't have already OP characters be even more over-powered. They don't get any cool fights or power-ups because they're irrelevant as far as the story goes. (As much as I hate to say it.) It doesn't really matter how strong they are as long as it's painfully obvious that Team Natsu is stronger. (Their fight with Gray in the 100YQ is still complete bullshit though.)
It sucks, but I don't think it'll ever change at this point—probably only get worse as they are used for gags, character fodder, or just plain forgotten about in place of more screen time for romantic pairings.

rewatching fairy tail and i seriously think that some fans have overlooked how powerful and important juvia's love for gray is for her very own development as, not just a person, but also as a wizard. one of the reasons why juvia's power was strong throughout phantom lord arc was because she herself was full of hatred from being called "gloomy" because she always takes the rain with her everywhere. this very fact of her always being called "gloomy" was what had driven her into taking pride in her power and used it to her advantage. her power was driven by the pain she had felt as she had always taken the rain with her all throughout her life and she felt that the way the rain had followed her was something that had helped her to become powerful. after her fight with gray during this arc, she sees the clear sky for the first time, with the help of gray's natural caring attitude and this was what made her realize that all she needed in her life was love in order to see the clear skies.
this is my interpretation to their dynamic and i truly wish that people would understand why juvia having to be such head-over-heels for gray is an important element to the story. juvia's character is VALID as she had lived her whole life being in the midst of the storm, in which she had learned to adapt and be strong within it— however, with gray's help, she didn't need to be strong within the storm anymore because he had helped her finally get away from it !!
(pls correct me if i interpreted this wrong in any way, i just wanted to share my love for juvia's devotion to gray 😭🙌🏻)

i feel like the fandom does gray and juvia so wrong some times. I don't rlly give a fuck ab the antis but i just feel like they gaslight too much and not just them but lowk the ff writers too. I rewatched fairy tail after 3 yrs and i realized how ooc gray is in the ffs most of the time. Like they play him as this jerk who doesn't care about juvia or her feelings but when you watch the show you lowk realize that he was almost never mean to her. He was always very nice even when they were enemies and also before he caught feelings (which btw i think was after or during the gmg). I don't have examples right now bc last time i watched it fr was like 6 months ago and i'm too lazy to argue but i stand by this.

You know what annoys me the most about fairy tail, it’s the fact that fairy tail has so many amazing characters yet it uses none of them. Levy, Jet, Droy, Gajeel, Juvia, Max, Reedus, Warren, Wakaba, Maco, Romeo, Bisca,Laki, Alzack, LISSANNA . AND DONT GET ME STARTED ON ELFMAN AND THE THUDER LEGION. THEY ALL had so much potential to be amazing, well-done, and deep side characters but now they are just used as a jokes and punching bags for the main cast and villains.
It just annoys me so much that fairy tail is so focused on “family is everything” and “the power of friendship”. YET WE KNOW ALMOST ABSOLUTELY NOTHING ABOUT HALF THE PEOPLE IN THE GUILD. ITS SO CONTRADICTORY. HOW IS THE MAIN THEME OF THE ANIME GOING TO BE THE THING IT DOES WORSE.
I know that these characters are just side characters but they are important to the theme of fairy tail. If the characters in the guild were more fleshed out we would be more attached to them. For example, when the Tenrou Island team “died” for seven years and came back I had no reason to really care about the characters who were left behind. We knew nothing about them and we have no connection to these characters whatsoever, so why should I care. The guild members in fairy tail should’ve been the first side characters to be truly fleshed out and familiar to us, but I think after the time skip and the introduction of many new characters due to the grand magic games, we were already too far gone.
And it’s so sad to see the contrast between the characters at the start of the series and at the end. I remember watching the first few episodes and thinking that Macco, Jet, Droy, and Warren were cool characters and I was interested in getting to know more about them. Not only that, but when these characters were introduced, they were introduced as strong, respectable mages, but when you compare them to how they are now where they constantly used as jokes for being weak, are dumbed down, or are used as a cliche. It’s just sad to see such wasted potential.
Maybe I’m looking into it too much but it always bugged me. And I always noticed that whenever I wanted to rewatch Fairy Tail episodes it was always episodes before the time-skip. I have no joy watching any Fairy Tail episodes or arcs after the timeskip. (except for maybe grand magic games but even that is a stretch)
I just think there’s too much focus on team Natsu and not on fairy tail as a guild. I just wish that when other characters were showcased, they were showcased well and not as some sort of joke.

So I forgot to make another rambling post, we continued our Fairy Tail rewatch. We're part way through grand magic games and the fury I feel at how it was written knows no bounds. Time for a bulleted post.
Warning, I'm going to be angry and really tear into the arc:
The hatred the citizens have for fairy tail is so stupidly convoluted and done just to make the audience root for fairy tail. You're telling me the entire populace hates a guild for just kind of sucking in games and not being that great? When we had the arena hating Rebecca in one piece, it made sense because to the general public, she was from the family that slaughtered citizens and brought terror to the land. In fairy tail it was done to make us care.
Raventail had literally no reason to be competing, and everything surrounding them is contradictory and infuriating. First, it doesn't make sense for them to join a big spectacle of their goal was to get information from guild members. Why wouldn't they just kidnap laxus or one of the other characters to force them into revealing things? Also, them being a dark guild, which we are told aren't sanctioned guilds, and yet Jellal not being allowed to go after them "because of interguild conflict." No, mashima just wanted them to be there. It makes no logical sense for Jellal to be held back on the principle of not stirring guild conflict when Raventail isn't recognized as a guild. Ivan having a much more down low confrontation with Laxus and Makarov would've been so much better than us getting some dumb plotline about how "laxus beats them all because they're just weak" like we get in every single arc. They only exist to give fairy tail a rival to fight and the "cruel guild who doesn't care about it's members and only wants power" is already filled by Sabertooth. What purpose did they serve?
Why would mashima have Flare be sadistic and gleeful if she was only doing what she did to try and save herself? It makes literally no sense for her to act the way she did. It would be one thing if we got any indication in her scenes that her personality was an act put on for Ivan, but we see her laughing and jeering with her guild even when she's not the main focus so why would she be excited if she didn't actually want to do it?
I really hate how no other guild is allowed to be in anyway as strong as fairy tail once our main characters are introduced. It makes fights so insanely boring. We never get actually shown instances of characters getting stronger, the show tells us they did and we have to believe it.
Heaven forbid a woman be allowed to actually win in this show unless she's Erza Scarlet. No girl is allowed to just be a strong fighter in their own right. Lucy gets humiliated and abused constantly during the GMG for no reason other than making the audience hate enemies. Wendy isn't allowed to go into the Cheria fight and properly win or lose (don't even get me started on the forced in red herring of Cheria being evil). Cana can't have her own strength or abilities despite testing to be an S-Class wizard. Apparently none of the mermaid heel women are allowed to actually be strong wizards outside of Kagura because heaven forbid we get actually challenging match ups.
How is it that we supposedly have Lacrima watching the game and judges/guards keeping an eye on things and yet apparently no one notices Raventail cheating? And when someone does notice them he just ignores it? What is even the point of any set up and world building if we throw it out the window just to make conflict work in your story. Mashima forcibly sets up a "Fairy tail vs the world" concept for GMG and it's so stupid and badly done that I don't even get mad at the other characters. I get mad at Mashima.
I'm chosing to ignore the random fanservice fight because it was pointless and so many characters were weirdly written just to put them in skimpy outfits. If I have to think about Asuka being thrown in during the swimsuit one I think I'll go insane. Also just made me disgusted at all the grown men leering at girls they watched grow up. Such as Makarov who consistently calls guild members his children.
Bacchus deciding he wants to force Lisanna and Mirajane to sleep with him if he wins because heaven forbid we get an antagonistic dude who is written as hatable without making him a creep. Heaven forbid women have agency.
Why was Lucy the one to go back in time when we have Levy narrating? I thought Celesital Wizards couldn't go through the gates they make, or at the very least that time gates took so much energy they killed the ones that use them. Even if it wasn't levy I would've preferred a different character coming back through time to warn everyone.
Mashima flopping between Natsu not caring about naked lucy/people to Natsu suddenly wanting to see her naked within the same arc, baffles me.
The way Mashima writes Mavis makes me so uncomfortable. Another grown women with a petite body he infantalizes. This woman was in her 20s when she died and he treats her like a child.
Erza vs 100 monsters is the one good scene in this arc.
TL;DR- I actually thought I'd enjoy this arc because I loved it as a teenager. But I'm so unbelievably angry at everything happening that I actually am having a horrible time.

Rapid fire Fairy Tail rewatch thoughts. May or May not expand upon each point later on.
THIS IS LONG AS HELL BECAUSE I DON'T KNOW WHEN TO SHUT UP.
for reference, I've reached tartaros so far. I am aware of the canon happenings after that tho.
The female cast is so good idc what anyone says obviously the fanservice is awful BUT I will say, in the earlier arcs, it actually felt decently balanced because of Gray's whole stripping shtick + Natsu's cunty vest wasn't particularly modest either LOL.
Erza is such a wonderful character. I've seen comments that she goes downhill like 100yq onwards but. Um. 100yq characterisation.... that's a whole post of its own.
I never expected to like Lucy so much. idc that it takes her like 200 episodes to win a fight solo because when she FINALLY DOES IT WAS THE BEST MOMENT OF THE SERIES BY FAR. characters who's defining traits r kindness and compassion <33
Interesting how Lucy is the traditional shounen protag (underdog, skills develop overtime) because the rest of team Natsu sans Wendy were all like ... already kinda OP established mages even at the beginning.
I know there are debates ab who really is the protag and imo the narrative skews towards Natsu more BUT. it's bizarre how unexplored he is for a main character. Like yes he is my favourite character other than Lucy but his inner psyche is barely explored it's so weird. He doesn't really have a character arc either??? I'll expand on this more once I finish post tartaros (lolll not looking forward to that) and once again it seems like he's completely regressed from what I've seen of 100yq.
I fucking love all the ships.
I don't agree with comments that Natsu can't be traditionally romantic. Like, I definitely don't think he would ever have the natural inclination to be that way as a part of his character on its own. BUT considering iconic rainbow sakura moment I fully believe he would do whatever it is that would make Lucy happy. And if that includes red roses and candlelit dinners he would absolutely try his best.
Nalu moments r seriously. so good.
I totally see why Juvia stans don't like gruvia. But unfortunately I like them. And I've slightly rewritten them in my head so that juvia doesn't get completely flanderized LOL.
the Natsu Erza Gray sibling relationship goes soooo hard.
Just in general there's something beautiful about the way Fairy Tail handles it's numerous platonic and romantic relationships. Nothing feels secondary yk. Everything is given its due time (except maybe NALU goddammit).
I LOVE THAT FEMALE CHARACTERS HAVE DEEP COMPLEX RELATIONSHIPS IRRELEVANT TO THE MALE CAST. Lucy and Levy, Lucy and Yukino, whatever combination between Erza Lucy Wendy, Lucy Flare, Wendy Shelia, Wendy Carla etc
Even when the relationship involves a man in some kind of way like eg Lucy Cana or Erza Kagura it's still not like... in a bad way. The friendship itself is still there, it's just that the inciting incident tends to involve a dude.
Speaking of Lucy having so many deep female friendships is a big reason why I like Nalu so much lol. Like I literally do not care ab ships in media but fairy tail.... just has that something...
Love how often everyone changes outfits.
This show desperately needed a mini arc somewhere with just Natsu Lucy Happy going on a low stake job, where Natsu actually opens up ab his emotions and his relationship with Igneel.
Needed more Natsu and Igneel flashbacks in general.
Wendy triple combo abandonment issues are not talked ab enough holy shit. Grandeeny, Mystogan and then her entire guild???!
Lucy's relationship with her dad was objectively so well written. I skipped starry skies arc sorry the pacing was destroying me so I can't speak on that. But everything else was just BEAUTIFUL.
The fact that she returns to him just to tell at him. The fact that he comes to her with money problems and she STILL stands her ground. The fact that it's HIM who has to better himself and earn HER forgiveness.
Even after it seems like they're on ok terms, Lucy mentions in tenrou that they don't keep in contact, which is soo... realistic...
and then his death... Shout-out to Natsu who actually is emotionally quite mature (as the author himself seems to have forgotten) and dealt with it wonderfully. He gave Lucy her space, he let her vent, he stopped Happy from interfering too much. + Lucy being conflicted ab it and clearly grieving what could have been instead of what was. sighhh. .
idc ab no deaths but I do wish they didn't do fake out deaths as often. Because when actual loss sticks, it's done super well imo. Ultear, Aquarius, I haven't hit this part yet but Igneel... (yes I'm ignoring 100yq)
the episodic fillers r INCREDIBLE.
Rogue and Frosch are so special to me.
Wish they expanded on Jellal and Meredy's relationship a bit more it seems quite wholesome.
I love Virgo.
Really hate the muted colours Ft2014 onwards, but I do like that Lucy's hair became blonde and not yellow.
Pacing 2014 onwards was GOD AWFUL. I WAS SO SAD because I think the story beats in eclipse arc is actually super good but it was DRAGGED OUT SO MUCH nothing had the impact it should've.
Snow fairy, FT, Masayume chasing you will never be forgotten.
Lucy underutilizes Gemini so much it drives me mad. They were terrifying under Angel so like... cmon...
idc what anyone says GMG and edolas were top tier.
Edolas Natsu X Edolas Lucy... yes
objectively speaking gajeel is a top tier character too
Someone pointed out that Natsu didn't reallyyy hang out with anyone other than Happy pre canon and it changed my life. Every time I notice him and Lucy casually hanging out now I start screaming.
HAPPY IS SUCH A GOOD CHARACTER IDC. His edolas character arc was incredible, his relationship with Lucy is just as (if not more) fleshed out as his one with Natsu and that's part of what makes them such a great trio.
Whenever he goes LUUSSHIEEE . my heart ...
OST top tier no notes
the writing was actually so tight up until GMG part 2
I generally don't care ab the powerscaling issues but laxus v jura... no.
The anime kinda fucks up his face a lot but manga Natsu was genuinely soooo adorable in every single panel (once again IGNORING 100YQ).
Wendy also great character arc.
Sting's whole design is SO GOOD and ten years too early. the fur lined vest, the crop top, the one dangly earring, the scar, the loose fitting pants, good God now that's a Look.
Seriously I love Nalu so much...
That's all for now folks. If you want me to expand upon anything just lmk bec believe it or not all of this is a summary.

A Fairy Tail Rant About Lucy in the Grand Magic Games.
So me and my sister have been rewatching Fairy Tail, and it’s been an up and down of enjoyment and infuriation. I love the characters in this series, especially Lucy. Like when I first watched the series I didn’t have very strong opinions on her. I enjoyed her, and I never disliked seeing her on screen. Flash forward a few years I rewatch Fairy Tail, and she’s become my favorite character. Like I love so much about her I swear I devolve into incoherent sounds when I talk about her. Which is why her treatment during the Grand Magic Games pisses me off to no end.
In the only fights she participates in she gets relentlessly abused, and for what?! She looses both of the major fights she’s in. In her first battle Asuka is used as hostage and that allows Flare to beat the daylights out of her (which in my opinion there should’ve been a barrier of some kind in place to prevent things like that from happening, but whatever). Even when Natsu gets rid of the thing preventing Lucy from fighting back, she still looses. Her magic energy gets forcibly taken from her, and Flare wins by default.
Now I could almost forgive this fight, if the same damn thing hadn’t happened in Lucy’s 2nd fight. The next fight feels even more gross cause Lucy’s in a swimsuit the whole time, and there is constant fan service which adds this extra layer of mixed emotions to the fight.
The Lucy vs Minerva fight is my least favorite in the whole GMG arc, and maybe in the whole series because it only serves as a means for us to hate Sabertooth, much in the way Lucy vs Flare made us hate Raventail. Once again Lucy is physically beaten to no end, and in this particular fight it’s, in my opinion, so much worse, and it’s because Minerva won’t let Lucy fall out of the water arena. She pulls her back again and again. And we’re forced to watch this take place just like the rest of the guild. Once again I ask, What is the purpose?! We already dislike both guilds before either of these fights take place. Raventail targets Gray in his battle, and Sabertooth humiliates Yukino, and forces her to leave. So please explain to me why Lucy, and why twice in a row?
Aside from making us hate both guilds, Lucy loosing the way she did served absolutely no purpose. My sister and I constantly talk about how Mashima loves to humiliate his women, especially the strong ones like Erza, which I won’t even start on cause that’s a whole other rabbit hole I do not want to think about. So if you look at Lucys fights with that angle, it all makes sense. I could just be blinded by my anger, but I swear nothing like this ever happens to any other character in the whole series (And I what I mean is being beaten to hell, only to lose).
Lucy is used as a device for anger in her fights. And she doesn’t even get to prove herself. Both moments where she is able to show off what she’s got, get forcibly taken from her.
I know she does helm the Eclipse Gate stuff, but her fights in The Games left such a sour taste that it almost over shadows so much of what she does.
This post is very all over so forgive me, but I just needed to be mad that in the Games themselves, she doesn’t get to do anything cool. She gets tortured, and robbed of any chance at a victory.
I love Lucy so so much, and i think she deserved better then loosing all of her fights.

I am rewatching Fairy Tail so I’m going to share some thoughts! I’m watching the battle of fairy tail arc right now. This is one of my favs! Because I love Laxus and the thunder legion so much.
1. Gajeel at the beginning of this arc accepting that everyone was mad at him is why he is able to still be such a popular character and why Levy X Gajeel could happen. Him accepting the punches and not fighting back was very important. This was Gajeel’s redemption arc. Of course he still making up for it now, but this was important for the beginning.
2. Why do we get more hints about Makarov and Porlyusica being in love than any hints about Makarov’s wife/Ivan’s mom… this will be a longer post because I have some beef about the lack on information around the Dreyar family.
3. I think there is some symbolism with Yuri being turned into a dragon at the church and Laxus being at the church.
4. Maybe I’m late to this realization. But was Levy telling Laxus about Makarov that allowed his true feelings to come out? Like if Levy wasn’t like hey bro your grandpa is about to die would fairy law have worked?
5. I will make a longer post about this, but I do think the dragon slayer lacrima changes people’s personalities and they have to find their true self to stop it.
6. More of a headcanon, but I think Cana and Laxus used to be best friends.
7. I would do anything to see Mirajane transform for the first time again.
8. While I don’t personally ship Laxus and Freed, they were def fighting like a married couple.
9. I’m still mad that Raven Tail storyline really went nowhere… besides Ivan telling Laxus about Fairy Heart. 13-year-old me was mad and 21-year-old me is still mad.

Abrupt Anime Poll Time
If this headache goes away, I will definitely finish Chainsaw Man tonight (keep watch for me being So Normal in a notes app reaction), so I'll start running the next poll.
If you're new here, I like anime, but I'm terrible at finishing and starting series, so I let friends, mutuals, and strangers control my life via the internet.
As always, propaganda* (*unhinged rambles) below the poll. You are allowed and encouraged to reblog if you wanna bully your followers into voting for your choice. Other people's followers and assorted users, you do not have to know me, follow me, like me, or like anime if you want to vote. Pick a button. Do it. Give into the urge to press it.
Propaganda:
How we handle long long series - When it comes to those billion-episodes-long series we all know and love, I'll watch a season/arc/naturally-divided-segment of the series. I'll always specify how much I'll be watching here.
Rambles
Free! - You are absolutely allowed to vote for Free! however (ignore this for your voting choices) the longer it stays in the polls, the more 50% Off! quotes I get to use.
Fairy Tail - I keep forgetting this is the Fairy Tail Webbed Site. (Also that bit above was a witty quip; Gray doesn't need clothes.) Anyway, this poll will cover a rewatch of season one because I don't know where I left off last time so I'm just gonna go around again.
Voltron: Legendary Defender - Before we get technical here, the Um, Actually home game has a question in the anime section about V:LD and if the pedantic nerd show says it's anime, I can put it in a poll. Anyway, I never finished it because a) what the fuck was that release schedule I'm bad with normal release schedules and b) yeah, I know from being on Tumblr that it goes in some unsatisfying directions, but completionist brain always meant to finish it.
Buddy Daddies - I think outside of the few it was paired with SK8 (though it did well there too), Buddy Daddies has been another consistent second place choice in these polls. So, I summon the Buddy Daddies fandom. Let's see if you can defeat the Fairy Tail fans on the Fairy Tail website.
Blue Period - Painting sure is fun! You know what else is fun? Killing your best friend. That doesn't sound fun at all, Haru. I think Haru's right. We should branch out in our hobbies. There. I got another 50% Off! quote in. Anyway, this is an anime about painting and I just bought the first vol. of the manga (haven't read it yet though).
Bungo Stray Dogs - Hi, I'm an English major-

I may not look it but i used to watch ft!!
I've been rewatching some of the episodes and im still wishy washy on whether or not I want to redesign all the characters but here's some recent and old character sketches!! I've been playing around with their designs but trying not to deviate too far so that the characters still look like who they're supposed to be
Idk if anyone would wanna see me redesign/rework every character but I'd post em if there were people who wanted to see that.
Here's the rundown for those who are interested:
My basic ideas for fairy tail are to make every character a fantasy trope/creature/class/myth. Some of the characters will change into a different thing over time as they gain experience. I feel like fairy tail has a lot of potential to write a more modern fairy tale type story because of the whole wizards and magic thing. With dragons and princesses n everything. This is obviously present in the story, but i really want to reinforce that idea. there are some characters who I think really fit this, like Erza (obvi main knight of the story but also has the title of titania queen of the fairies) and natsu (obviously dragon as an mc, sort of a role reversal of the evil dragon. and maybe a fun demonic plot twist haha). But with other characters i may need to make more changes. Lucy is a loose version of the princess (with a fun runaway backstory), but I want her to evolve into a priestess. Grey kinda has nothing going on for him imo, the ice wizard thing keeps throwing me off every time i try to project something onto him. I think i'll go with a hunter -> demon slayer thing. He just happens to use ice magic. i don't wanna go with regular wizard because thats a bit boring lmao. It would also make the elemental thing between natsu and grey funnier bcuz he's a spooky demon and that guys a hunter so you guys REALLY shouldnt get along. They do anyway because the power of friendship lol Anyways that's the basic plan? even if i dont post it on tumblr just know its cooking in the back of my head. thx for reading all this haha

Dungeons and Drag Queens Finale Nails! Close ups and reference pics. Inspired by the amazing art by Savana. (original post with better vid here). I'll add each polish used in a day or two when I have time, so check back in if you're interested.
This video is unedited because I don't have the ability to do that, but it has nice close-ups of each nail. Video has minor environmental noise that is not relevant.
I normally like to get finale nails done by the finale episode but due to life being hectic that didn't happen. It means I was able to incorporate some things from the finale which I don't usually get to do. I put a lot of thought into every aspect of this design.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I changed this design after putting it on because I didn't remember the bones in the original art and I decided to add a skull. Since it was added later it looks a bit off - if I had planned better I would have positioned it better with the acid river. I also had to restamp with darker green but I think it actually looks cool with the light green glow. Dark green stripe was stamped then the glitter was freehanded on top. Also wound up with some bubbles in it when I added the skull, but if any nail was gonna wind up with bubbles at least it was the throw away acid landscape nail.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Troyann's nail is colored similar to her skin, with a red shock of hair. Gold arrows and net in the background, I also used this "Mermaid Princess" stamp, though it's a bit hard to read.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I don't have a great axe stamp, so I used this hatchet design which I painted in, as well as some bones and bows to represent Princess.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
A dark orange and red Kraken on a background of a sparkling sea.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Queen Inira is painted in. I tried to include her gold jewelry and the stripes on her tail. Also decided to add a line of pearls at the last minute. The background is her hair.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Mophandrix on a background of Icy Mountains.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I really wanted to get Gertie's horns in, and it took a while to figure out how to do it in a way that I liked. I also was on the fence of using the "Witch Bitch" stamp but then during my rewatch while working on this design I heard Gertie say that exact phrase so it made the cut lol. Background is supposed to represent Gertie's hair/outfit with a purple sheen to reflect the color of her magic.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I decided to do a scene with simple figures of Queen Titania and Mysaara underneath a broken crown. Picked a background that I thought felt like a fairy magic realm color.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I got this fairy design after the last season of Dungeons and Drag Queens and was excited to finally use it. I based it on Twyla's winter design to change things up. The background is pink like her magic.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I tried to add enough kelp to Buddy Bear while still keeping him looking like a cat. Pink background again as a connection to Twyla.
Thanks for reading this all if you did! I put a lot of work into this but feel like it was worth it all (even with the few cat hairs that I didn't spot).
Pics of stamping plates/polishes here bc of image limits. (will be linked later)

In your fairy tail will Laxus be different, guy was too much of a prick to accept his change of heart or that "deep down, he's a good guy", he threatened to kill the entire city just because he had daddy issues.
i have so many opinions ive been avoiding answering this until i had time to write an essay so here you go.
So, i personally, feel like fairy tail has a really weird habit of having characters do extremely irredeemable shit, say several times that the character is enjoying what their doing, then have their character do a 180 several arcs later because after fighting fairy tail they just saw the light or some shit.
Like i was rewatching the Battle of Fairy Tail arc and lauxus is just... so awful? and the way they try to redeem him with the spell shit not working like sir he was going to kill everyone maybe we dont give him a pass?
all this to say heres how I would rewrite the battle of fairy tail:
Ok so i'd keep Laxus' resentment of Makorav over the banishment of his dad, the only thing keeping laxus in ft is knowing one day hes going to inherit the guild. He works his ass off to become as powerful as he can in order to live up to that legacy but also...
He hates it there.
Specifically, the ones who grew up in the guild (ie erza, mira, natsu, gray, etc) because he always felt like makorav embraced them more than laxus.
So he works hard and keeps his head down, picking fights more out of resentment than anything the other guild members did. I think some of the older guild members who remember Ivan are very wary of Laxus but not afraid just... keeping an eye out.
Laxus reads it as pity.
Once Laxus grows up, hes arrogant, entitled, and selfish. He puts his everything into becoming the best and surrounds himself with yes men (the thunder legion im getting to them) who boost his ego.
Then one day he overhears some fairy tail members spreading a rumor that Makorav is going to retire...
And Erza is going to become the next guild master.
And it fucking breaks something inside him.
I think Laxus resents Erza the most because its just so clear Makorav favors her over everyone. Shes so perfect and humble and honorable and...
Everything Laxus isn't.
So he sets up a plan. He's going to take the guild by force.
ok so it happens basically the same as canon right up until the end. Before the timer runs out Laxus demands Makorav hand the guild over to him before all these people get hurt.
Makorav shows up to confront laxus and instead of doing or saying anything, he just quietly walks up to laxus and stands in front of him.
Laxus starts to panic and yells about how the old man has to give up or everyone is going to die. Outside fairy tail is taking down the dome but its not enough.
Laxus grows more erratic but Makorav says nothing.
The timer runs out and nothing happens.
Laxus sighs in defeat. He's been caught.
He was bluffing.
See the plan laxus and the thunder legion made was simple, they'd prove themselves the strongest by beating the entire guild and once everyone was taken out, makorav would have no choice to hand the guild over since no one was left to stop the thunder dome.
the body link magic still hurt any attackers just to make them seem more real, but they were only really there to pressure Makorav into caving.
Laxus didnt account for his grandpa having faith in him.
However the power grab couldn't be ignored, attacking the guild and even just threatening the city leads to laxus getting banished.
The thunder legion decide to leave fairy tail but laxus forbids them from following him anymore, not feeling worthy of being their leader anymore. So the thunder legion kinda just go off on their own as a trio for the time being.
Idk if this feels lame to others but to me its better than having laxus fully believe hes going to kill everyone and go through with it (even if the spell didnt work) only to redeem him later. It just feels weird to me? idk im not a great writer but this is just my lil rewrite.
as a treat have my bickslow redesign

ok i think this is like the third time ive complained talked about anime but ive decided to rewatched a shounen from my childhood... Fairy Tail. And I was bracing for the worst, but I'm actually quite pleasantly surprised? Yeah it's "power of friendship overcomes all" like Naruto and stuff, and yes there's a few pervy characters (I know "few" sounds like a lot, but there's HUNDREDS of characters) Also... yes sure some of the female characters are a little sexist but they really do have quirky personalities. It's awesome to see the "straight man" character be a woman (Lucy), and it's FANTASTIC to have the "big strong badass" be a woman (Erza) and it's fantastic they don't get stuck just fighting other women, they get to defeat the BBEG and be badass too! Erza carries the show FOR REAL, she gets to be a badass who is loyal to her friends and would die for her ideals.. just like the men get to do.
Also it's fantastic for there to be a 50/50 split of female characters in the main protagonist group, and I think later it actually skews more female (I checked- YES IT DOES! 4/7, or 5/8 depending if you count Juvia as part of Team Natsu) So while it's not perfect nor is it exactly "feminist" I think Fairy Tail is a pretty good Shounen overall, and I do recommend it. Erza alone is the reason to watch I adore her.

A rewatch may clear things up. I'll admit when I'm wrong, but you know something that always confused me? Zeref being defeated before Acnologia. Now don't get me wrong, I totally get building up antagonists. But in order of operations, Zeref always stuck out as THE villain of fairy tail. He was the one who all enemies seemed to stem from so the idea of him being the final battle just made sense.
Acnologia is a cool character. The reveal of him being a dragon following him killing so many was a legitimately cool twist I still think about. Him showing up and nearly wiping out the guild a few times were some solid plot moments But threat wise I never considered him worse than Zeref.
I feel like this may have been done as well because Mashima clearly wanted to soften Zeref as a villain so redemption for him was possible, but even then I never was a fan of Mashima's moments of making Zeref Heroic because so much of Zeref's moments feel contradictory making it hard to figure out what to even expect from him as a villain or character. Not in a good way.
Alvarez is a mess of an arc for a multitude of reasons, but Zeref feeling so underwhelming when he had been mentioned as early as Eisenwald, maybe even earlier, is one I think about a lot.

Hello there, Lyra dearest~!
I have a request for your AU Event! Since I don't wanna burden you too much, could I ask for some general headcanons regarding the Magic Knight Captains in a Fairy Tail AU?
Like, what sort of other magics do you think they'd use given the opportunity for it in the world of Fairy Tail? And maybe what guilds they'd be drawn to... Even if it's just headcanons, I hope it's not too much.
Hiya Erika! This is where I realize that I’ve lost sooo much of my Fairy Tail knowledge after leaving the fandom 😭, I had to look at the wiki for all of this and I’m so sorry that they’re very, very short! Also I only did half the Captain’s, which I also apologize for 😔. (I really should rewatch Fairy Tail someday 😭!!!!)
Warnings: None
—————
Fuegoleon:
Tumblr media
• I feel like Fue would have Fire Dragon Slayer Magic if he were in Fairy Tail!
• Before becoming a guild master I can kind of see him being a member of Quatro Cerberus or Sabertooth (after Sting takes over, because before that I think Fue would burn Jiemma up for all the stuff he did 💀)
• I feel like even before he became a guild master a lot of his guildmates would go to him for advice and he would kind of become a sort “vice-guildmaster”!
• But eventually he leave and would most certainly be a guild master (as would all the Captains imo), and I have a feeling his guild would be similar to Quatro Cerberus except more…Lion themed than dog themed 😆!
Yami:
Tumblr media
• Oof for magic I think he would be interested in…either Darkness magic or Darkness Dragon Slayer Magic (which is from 100 years quest if I’m not mistaken)! But maybe he would like to try something like Rogue’s Shadow magic 🤔? Or Elfman’s beast soul magic?
• Yami would probably fit in at Fairy Tail, but he would kind of be another Gildarts! He shows up every now and then, stays for a bit, but eventually leaves again (I also feel like he would bring a new guild member to Fairy Tail every time he visits)!
• He would probably get along with Cana, Elfman, and maybe Bacchus?
• Would eventually become a guildmaster too (like all the Captains would be), and it would probably give Fairy Tail and Sabertooth a run for their money!
Charlotte:
Tumblr media
• For magic I think it would be a plant variant 🤔? Maybe like Imitatia’s magic but less…dark and evil? But as for what other magic she would be interested in, I definitely think Erza’s requip magic would be perfect for her!
• She would 100% be a part of Mermaid Heel, and would eventually become it’s guildmaster!
• She would definitely get along with Erza, Kagura, Mira-Jane and maybe Minerva after she is redeemed (?)!
• Was probably scouted by Blue Pegasus for her beauty, but ultimately turned them down and decided that Mermaid Heel was a much better fit!
Nozel:
Tumblr media
• For Nozel i think he would be similar to Gajeel and have Iron Dragon Slayer Magic, although it’d probably lean more towards just regular steel!
• He would probably be a member of Sabertooth, both in the beginning and after Sting took over! I can see him staying away from the guild a lot due to having…serious disagreements with Jiemma, but eventually returns once Sting took over.
• He would get along with the more serious characters like Rogue!
• Eventually, like the others, he would leave and form his own Guild and become a Guildmaster!
William:
Tumblr media
• Would certainly have some kind of Earth magic like Jura!
• And because of that I can see him joining Lamia Scale and being Jura’s “prodigy” before Jura left to become one of the Ten Wizard Saints!
• I can see him getting along with characters like Jellal (because, y’know, they both betrayed their kingdoms after becoming really important figures and are now working to atone for their crimes).
• Hm, while I think he would start his own guild, I can also see him doing like Charlotte and becoming the Guildmaster for Lamia Scale!
