"Lovers, Actually" written for my dear friend @go-catch-a-chickn ❤ Thomas has always liked looking at Newt; he's got this effortless attractiveness to him, he looks good without trying too hard, and maybe Thomas would envy him for it if it wasn't for this strange pull in his chest he always feels in the other’s presence. Everything about Newt is familiar and yet Thomas never tires of looking at him. He knows exactly what it is that he's feeling, has known it for a while now, and he also knows that these are not exactly feelings appropriate to have about your best friend. You'd think they’d eventually wear off since Thomas never allows himself to delve deeper into them, but Newt's effect on him is impossible to evade. He can't undo what he found in Newt and yet he could never pursue it, because he’s too scared of jeopardising a friendship that means so much more to him than he's ready to admit.

- video games (but once he gets the hang of it, he becomes addicted to animal crossing)

- fridges

- subsequently, freezers

- “unicorn-flavour”

- the internet

- planes (he and thomas fly to london for the holidays so he can see how it changed. even after that, he still doesn’t understand planes.)

- instagram

- microwaves (he usually just stares at the microwave during its whole run)

- washing machines (he usually just sits in front of it and watches it go round and round)

- don’t get him started on dishwashers

- credit cards

- hand dryers in public restrooms

- traffic lights

- barbecue sauce

- frappuccinos

- why people do nothing about global warming

- electric toothbrushes

- rollercoasters (NEVER AGAIN TOMMY I NEARLY DIED UP THERE!!)

- piercings (though he secretly thinks about getting one)

- historical documentaries that help him catch up on the century he missed (he’s pretty glad he hasn’t lived through it, though)

- toasters

- sour candies

- cat videos (and he sends all of them to thomas)

- hallmark christmas movies

- pop corn

- modern fanfiction of literary classics

- the fact that tuberculosis isn’t a common threat anymore

- thomas’s friends (though only sonya and minho know the truth about him, the others think he is sonya’s cousin from the english countryside)

- thomas (somehow he falls a little more in love each day)

- the moment he realised thomas wasn’t joking and they can actually legally get married (he cried a lot and said yes)

aaaaaah more pluto thoughts?! for me?! 🥺 my dear santa you have really gone the extra mile and i honestly don’t think i could love you more than i do right now <3

all of these things are AMAZING and i’m completely obsessed with how much thought you’ve given to them.

however my favourites are:

‘fridges / subsequently, freezers’ i can just imagine him opening and closing the doors to make the light come on like i know we ALL did as kids akdbdkdbdk

newt just sitting and staring at multiple kitchen appliances as they do their thing 😭😭😭

‘why pluto isn’t considered a planet anymore’ I THOUGHT ABOUT THAT just vaguely when i was reading 🥺 i bet he’s devastated, but at least it’s classified as a dwarf planet?

oh, an anonymous ask? i wonder who that could be...

thinking about newt and sonya's blossoming siblingship. she's always wanted a brother and he reminds her so much of lizzy. they grow close really fast; it's almost like they've known each other their whole lives. they meet for brunch downtown every sunday, just the two of them, and sonya always uses that weekly date as an opportunity to tell newt about all of thomas's dirty secrets (he choked on his tea when she told him about that one time minho dared thomas to snort black pepper and he actually did it and sneezed so much his nose started bleeding and they had to rush to the hospital). it's during one of their brunch dates that newt shows her the ring thomas picked out for him, the ring that replaces the one he gave to thomas five years prior, or one hundred and thirty-seven years prior, depending on how you count ;)

SKDHSKDJD i already told you how reading this made ME sneeze a lot but 🥺 newt and sonya’s siblingship!!!!! lol at sonya spilling all of thomas’ secrets. maybe she tells newt about Back To The Future and that’s how he learns the truth……. oh thomas will never live that down.
