ok i have more musings on character's relationships w their chronic pain, troll edition now!!!
aradia is aware and really upfront about her chronic pain. her issues with her joints was definitely in play pre-game, the issue was that she didn't have access to a lot of resources as a rustblood. she and sollux actually recognized each other online (they'd met prior to this) in a lowblood spoonie forum.
tavros knows he's got chronic pain; he's sort of accepted it. he used to be really good at managing it, but backslid a lot during the game, trying to push himself wayyyy too hard.
sollux is completely aware and just is like yeah cool this might as well fucking happen jesus. fucking hates it, is horrible at managing it. to be fair, sie also didn't think sie would have to deal with it for a long time, once he started hearing his OWN voice among the voices of the dead. sollux post-being revived: why do i do this to myself.
nepeta does not know and just thinks it's a side effect of their long hunting trips. like, mew crouches low to the ground a lot so it makes SENSE that mews back hurts. which like, that does make sense. it's just not the full story, lol.
karkat absolutely is not aware pre-game. karkat voice: THIS IS A NORMAL EXPERIENCE. this is because if he has to face the fact that it's NOT he has to deal with .... everything about alternia's mindset which is NOT something that he can deal with bc then his whole idea of "i can be a threshecutioner" and his idea of service to the empire comes CRUMBLING down (i love pre-game karkat's Internalized Everything it's very very interesting as a character trait) anyways i think on the meteor he ends up opening up about it to dave and kanaya, which is what lays the groundwork for dave to years later confine in him about his own chronic pain.
kanaya: fully aware, but not really feeling like she can talk about it for fear that she'll be a burden. she's also not sure how much of it is rainbow drinker stuff and how much is inherent to her own body; she's never been able to figure that out, but ultimately accepts that it doesn't matter which one it is. she talks about it a lot with rose and karkat and, surprisingly enough, vriska.
I WILL SEND MORE WITH THE HIGHBLOOD TROLLS TOMORROW PROBABLY also thank you to that other anon :) i just like these characters so much so i talk about them lots and project onto them as well ljlkjdsflj
SORRY I JUST SAW THIS!!! YR SO RIGHT

I see your Erisol and I raise you Eridan slowly growing out of his hemospectrum bias. Now, this isn't gonna be a quick thing, dude has been brought up this way but maybe that little something with Sollux would be what opens his eyes to lowbloods being worth something.
I'm sure part of Eridan's initial drive to pursue kismesitude with Sol is because he sees him as someone worth arguing with. There's gotta be something about him that Eri sees value in and that fills him with hate because how dare this lowblood be worth anything/better than him(a highblood) in any way!!
That sorta thing only gets you so far when you get to know the person. Which can lead pretty well into your point of respect! You can't respect someone whilst believing their blood makes you better than them but you can't pitch someone without believing they're worthy of some form of respect. Especially since Sollux would see that's he not a complete asshole and doesn't have a general hatred of highbloods to blind him to that. Makes me think that he'd be more inclined to act more flush easier than Eri, not on purpose to start with tho, but there's something to be said about his things with 2s. Seems the most likely for vacillation to come more naturally to him.
Now I don't know how you see Eridan but I feel like he's one to feel a lot of inner conflict. Dude falls pitch with a lowblood, starts seeing him for the good qualities he has, starts to flush and fully panics. Goes full "I hate you" because it's not possible to be flush for someone of such caste. Which can easily lead down the road of realising that the only issue he has is with his blood colour and maybe that's a problem he should fix (his isssue with it not Sol's blood colour lol).
After all, I can't see Fef downing anyone for their blood colour and she's a higher blood than him. There's gotta be something to it.
Sorry for ranting in your inbox. Just excited to see someone who thinks of EriSol in such a similar way. Confused quadrant vacillating my beloved :D
Never apologize for ranting in my inbox I love this take ❤️❤️❤️
Most of the time when I think of Erisol I normally imagine Sollux as the one more hesitant on the relationship, but I really love this point of view. I would love to see an Eridan that slowly stars seeing the error in his thinking as he catches feelings for Sollux. Also Eridan is absolutely a character with a lot of internal conflict. I feel like he’s honestly not that bad of a guy, the only thing holding him back is this bias he’s been raised with and if he learns to get over that he’d start being a better person. He’s already friends with other low bloods like Tavros and Karkat, maybe the respect he starts having towards Sollux during their budding relationship is the final thing that causes him to start self reflecting.
Also I love your idea of him realizing he’s going flush and completely panicking and shutting it all down. I love tropes like that and I can imagine a scenario where Sollux is freaking out because he had been interacting with Eridan pretty regularly up until this point and now he’s just completely ignoring him/refusing to engage with him.
Also yes!!!!! Sollux is absolutely someone who vacillates frequently!!! I honestly see this as canon. It would explain his relationship with Aradia, and even Feferi, as though they claim to be matesprits we really only see them doing activities that are mainly for pale relationships (the cuddle pile and feelings jam that the meowrails are doing at the same time SolFef is). I love vacillating Erisol because I feel like 1) Sollux has a hard time staying in one quadrant and 2) as they grow together it’s nearly impossible for them to stay pitched as they become extremely fond of one another.
One last thing your bit towards the end reminded me of the Equius and Aradia relationship lol, but while in Erisol’s case Eridan changes his view on low bloods, Equius actually changed Aradias blood color.
Thank you so much for this response!!! I love to read peoples opinions on stuff I say, and I always enjoy seeing I’m not the only one who thinks about their relationship like this :)))

C21 #2
Hey, Sollux and Aradia are back! How nice!
SOLLUX: hey l0ser. it’s been a l0ng time. KARKAT: IT’S BEEN A... KARKAT: IT’S BEEN A “LONG TIME”?! KARKAT: IS THAT ALL YOU HAVE TO SAY TO ME?! IT’S BEEN MORE THAN A FUCKING HUMAN DECADE! KARKAT: I THOUGHT YOU GUYS WERE DEAD. ARADIA: no i wasnt dead KARKAT: NO, I MEAN LIKE KARKAT: “GONE FOREVER”?? KARKAT: I THOUGHT THAT YOU TWO LITERALLY DIDN’T EXIST ANYMORE! KARKAT: OR AT THE VERY LEAST WERE TRAPPED IN A DEAD UNIVERSE PERPETUALLY COLLAPSING INTO ITS OWN ASSHOLE. SOLLUX: 0h. n0pe.
Aw, man, Karkat lost Sollux multiple times. First in the Vast Glub, then not really during murderstuck, then again during Cascade, then never really seeing his ghost again. And Karkat and Sollux were tight, by the sound of it. How do you even process this?
JADE: ughhh... DAVE: yo babe its ok JADE: easy for you to say! youve got practice with this kind of thing! DAVE: just remember its not actually your corpse DAVE: i mean technically it is DAVE: it both is and isnt your corpse at the same time DAVE: which yeah the longer you think about it like that the more fucked up it gets DAVE: but also when you objectively think about it the combined multiverse is a huge tangle of interrelated but totally random events and its only chance that this specific life is the one you ended up living DAVE: you and that corpse could have just as easily switched places DAVE: but also that would never actually happen because its not how paradox space works DAVE: anyway my point is that nothing really matters so chill out JADE: um, i love you with all my heart dave but youre REALLY not helping right now
Dave never did get therapy did he.
DAVE: the first time rose hugged me it was such a disaster we didnt make eye contact for like a week after KANAYA: Jade Come Here I Shall Hold You In My Arms JADE: thank you kanaya at least ONE of you knows how to treat a lady in distress! JANE: Agreed. I’ve always felt that Kanaya has done an exemplary job of providing a model for compassionate, empathetic behavior, which others of her kind would do well to follow. KARKAT: WHAT THE FUCK DID YOU JUST SAY?
Why did they write Jane this fucking racist? Even a spoiled rich kid from 2011 ought to have internalized enough PCness not to say shit like that out loud even if she thought it!
ROXY: look everyone im not dumb ok even tho i act like it sometimes ROXY: i know whats goin on here ROXY: that were all drifting apart ROXY: and i know thats just a normal part of growing up and making new families ROXY: and i guess learning that some people have unbridgeable divides on political stuff ROXY: i can accept that things arent gonna always be the same as when we first met
Well at least Roxy isn’t acting so unsettling. Also I think that line about politics was meant for the audience rather than the characters because Jane’s politics are self evidently crap. There might not be an easy answer but there is at least one wrong answer and Jane has it.
ROXY: out of a sempiternal number of possibilities we are the only incarnation of this exact specific moment in all of existence ROXY: i think that we should all look around and be super grateful for what we ROXY: wh... what we ROXY: wh... wha... ROXY: whoah fuck Roxy’s voice starts to crack. She staggers off the podium, clutching her bloated stomach. CALLIOPE: roxy? are yoU okay? ROXY: of course im not ok i just WENT INTO FREAKING LABOR JOHN: oh my god!
Birth at a funeral. That would get a smile out of Dirk, I think.
JOHN: doing ok there, sweetheart? ROXY: ugh whyd i let you put this thing inside me
pffft.
CALLIOPE: wait! i... CALLIOPE: i woUld like to be there as well! JOHN: hurry up then! Calliope begins sprinting after John and Roxy but doesn’t make it two steps before something stops her in her tracks. A feeling that crawls under her exoskeleton. She stands deathly still for a moment, and then turns to face the coffin. Something about the corpse has transfixed her. She curls her fingers around the rim of the casket and leans in, studying teen-Jade’s peaceful face. Suddenly, the corpse bolts upright. Calliope yelps and falls on her butt. Adult-Jade screams. JADE: AHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! JAKE: By jove! DAVE: jesus fuck

Hey! Can we please get a analysis of a fan session? It has a Heir of Time(P), Seer of Space(D), Prince of Light(D), Witch of Heart(P), Sylph of Doom(P), Knight of Life(D), Mage of Void(D), and Rogue of Blood(P)? Sorry its long ^^;
Ooh, this is interesting. Haven’t done a session analysis before. Disclaimer that sessions are really big things that can’t properly be analysed in a single post, and that things like personalities and even culture matter, classpects alone aren’t enough. This was super fun though, and while it’s really long and took a while, It’s not as much trouble as you might think to write these.
Since you don’t state any castes or the planet I’ll assume that this takes place on earth with humans in basically the same situation as the beta kids. If it doesn’t, you mostly just have to manually add casteism and psionics.
You have a good mix between active and passive aspects, but your classes are kinda skewed towards active. Your selfishness and internal-external ratios are good. So, probably no problems there, but beware of having too many players going around constantly doing things and not enough at the ready to produce large bursts of action. (or course if you interpret heirs as passive you’re perfect, but you’d also be wrong. They’re incredibly active.) Your aspects are very skewed towards the more negative aspects on the bottom of the wheel. Everyone is going to be kinda sad and assuming that things go poorly all the time.
You have both a time and space player, so frog breeding will be a pinch and you’ve got a reset button if you need it. These are actually just about the best players you could choose. The heir will be up and doing time things very early, kinda like how dave did, except the heir is more likely to get them naturally. The seer of space will be great at frog breeding, but they’ll want an active player to help them, which is where the heir comes in. You could have the knight help, but too early and they’ll accidentally kill all the frogs, though later stage they would be a great help with their life wielding powers, particularly when it comes to mutations. Seer of space and heir of time make a great team, with the seer knowing exactly what to do, and the heir doing it with their early time powers.
The prince of light and sylph of doom are going to be absolute powerhouses against the royalty. The knight of life will also be really useful here, as a dual support-offence keeping the fighters healthy and restraining or straight stabbing enemies when everyone is intact.
This session will have a deficit of life, the players may be frailer than normal, or the lands may be sparse and dangerous with little help to go around. The knight here probably won’t be frog breeding, so they have lots of time to go clean that up and get more life.
Your knight of life will definitely be able to revive people. Probably with the only once caveat that jane had, but if any session is going to break that rule, yours probably could. (see witch of heart and heir of time)
The witch of heart is kindof a waste of a witch. You’ve got this immensely powerful player that can come in late game and kill/save everyone in a single sweep and it’s probably going to be making people kiss. Ok, I mean, it’ll more likely be helping someone self actualize which is pretty useful. They’ll be a useless bum most of the game though, kinda just sitting around and making their ships come true. Most of their actions helping the others to become gods will happen offscreen except for one talk before the final battle where they help the prince or rogue to reach their full potential and win it all. So, they’re not useless i guess, but your heart player would be better as a maid and your witch would be better as literally any of the unclaimed aspects, particularly hope.
The rogue of blood is one of the best mediator classpects. You’ve got your karkat right here, making sure everyone doesn’t kill eachother. They’ll also be a pretty competent fighter.
Your sylph of doom is likely to be a loner, only helping the team when things are dire. While sylphs may be healers, the only healing this sylph will be doing is healing the prince’s gross overconfidence. And the occasional deus ex machina where they come out of nowhere and announce that actually, today is not a good day to die. They’ll be a jack of all trades, but their most important role is cleanup. Just making sure that nothing goes too wrong, the imp population stays low, and the war on skaia doesn’t get out of control. If anyone in this session is going to go and aradia themselves out of the spotlight and into the weird limbo between most important character and doesn’t exist, it’s this sylph.
With no hope or rage players you don’t have anyone managing expectations. That leaves a lot more work for the rogue in their schemes to have everyone be comrades and not kill each other. The sylph of doom could act as a rage player, keeping everyone’s expectations low and planning for the worst. Your knight of life could come in and make sure everyone hopes for the best
This session is quite voidey, with a prince of light, and a non bard void player. Grimdarkness and the horrorterrors are likely to be a constant threat. later on, the mage will be able to keep everyone away from that, but early you may have to bring in the witch or rogue to keep your light and void players from doing the spook.
Expect relationships between the seer and mage, seer and heir, prince and witch, and maybe the knight and rogue, or knight and sylph. The mage and prince are likely to have a moirallegiance involving the mage constantly telling the prince not to do stupid stuff. Great for the prince’s development, very tiring for the mage.
