Hnn the parallels between Norm and Tobor... Norm constantly trying to live up to his sister's humanity in the eyes of his father vs Tobor constantly trying to live up to his creator's humanity in the eyes of his son... How Doof and Nordle are so damaged by the trauma they grew up with that they don't even see a viable alternative at first... How the main difference is that Vanessa DOES see what's going on because she's a neutral force in all this, and she does her best to develop a relationship with her brother, whereas Nordle has to realise all by himself, because his father isn't even there.

So the latest Chibi Tiny Tales short came out and they've got the whole lot here! Not just half of the HnG villains, not just Derek Pistachion but Igor, that one guy from 'The Dog Who Knew Too Much'.
I remember seeing him but couldn't remember his name until I just looked it up!

Oh Nordle is Messed Up messed up.
It just kept getting worse. Professor Exclamation is a horrible parent. Which was obvious from the beginning but it just kept getting worse. He put on an act of normal nice parent, but he's constantly putting down Nordle and he's just accepted it. Like Nordle doesn't even feel insulted.
This would be his villain origin story if he wasn't rebelling from his villainous dad. I don't know what's worse. Professor Exclamation acting like he loves Nordle while constantly putting him down, or Doofensmirtz's parents not even bothering to pretend. I believe Professor Exclamation believes he loves his son, but that doesn't mean he DOES.
Also Professor Exclamation keeps referencing this Industrial accident that took his elbows. But he had to be pretty terrible before that too if he's been raising his son the way he has. Was the industrial accident just a convenient excuse to get into crime?
I was kind of worried that Tobor would be a worse off Norm, but unlike Norm who is still fighting for Doof to recognize him as a son, Tobor has been now recognized as Nordle's parental figure. Which is a relief. Nordle probably modeled the way he treated Tobor from his father. So he's continuing to break the cycle but this poor child.
Speaking of which where is this kids mother? How exactly does she fit into this mess? She's got to be a bad mother if this is happening, but like how bad?
Also while Nordle needs Help, he should not be getting that help from a fellow elementary student. Gretel is in in over her head. Gretel feels obligated to help Nordle, and while they are genuinely friends, Gretel should not have to take on the entire burden of helping Nordle work out his family issues. And his villainous upbringing. While also secretly being his father's greatest enemy. This will not end well. Most of these Nordle plotlines are falling on Gretel's shoulder alone. She needs more than Bailey's help.
I would NOT be surprised if Nordle doesn't take the reveal well if only because one of the few people who supported him was very likely only his friend to get at his dad.
#Sometimes I wonder if H&G isn't as good as Dan's previous shows I'm just biased in favor of it#But no#H&G is funny in its own right#I was laughing#but someone please help these children#hamster and gretel#nordle exclamation#hamster and gretel spoilers#i guess#h&g#please watch this show#I thought the Gretel shenanigans would be my least favorite part of the show but I have been pleasantly surprised

Speculation on Hamster & Gretel based on Season 2 titles.

"Tobor or Not Tobor" Nordle has to choose between Exclamation or Tobor. Hopefully, this could bring some closure to Exclamation and Nordle's relationship, though I feel like that would take a lot more than 11 minutes.
"My Hammie Vice" Hmm. Hammie, Hamster. Vice, as in vice president. Huh. Definitely something to do with Hamster. Maybe focusing of Hamster and Gretel's relationship.
"The New Adventures of Super Kevin" Most likely the episode in which Kevin gets powers.
"The Search for Super Guy" Kevin goes missing.
"Hamster Ex Machina" The definition of Ex Machina is "a person or thing that appears or is introduced into a situation suddenly and unexpectedly and provides an artificial or contrived solution to an apparently insoluble difficulty." Perhaps Hamster solves the episode's plot in a crazy, contrived and silly way.
"Gretel's Day Off" Perhaps Gretel is becoming weary from all the superhero work and needs a break. Supposedly, Kevin has powers by this point. Perhaps he fills in.
"Gretel Keeps It Real" Identity reveal maybe.
"Squeaky Friday" The title is based on the movie "Freaky Friday" in which two friends get in a fight and switch bodies. Maybe Gretel gets into a fight with a friend. Kevin? Nah, we've seen them argue already. Bailey? Hmm. Interesting. What about... "squeaky?" *Gasp* What if Hamster and Gretel get into a spat? ... Nah. I doubt it. It's probably Bailey. It'd give Bailey a chance to have superpowers.
"A Tale of Two Grannies" Involves Abuelita.
"Who's Afraid of Mordros the Annihilator?" Mordros is most likely the great evil the aliens spoke of in the Season 1 finale.

Its infinitely cool to me that Vanessa and Nordle's simultaneous existance in the Dwampyverse raises a dichotomy that exists in spite of very similar family conditions. Both of their dads are supervillains of some respectable caliber, divorced, and this had caused some weird circumstances in their childhoods. In fact, both their dads are also double amputees? Which is also a weird similarity (Both of Heinz's arms are at least partially titanium prosthetics, and Exclamation lost his elbows in an industrial accident. He can't bend them)
The outfits are gonna put you off. Vanessa dresses goth, and Nordle dresses like a fairly normal first grader, but while Nessa is actually a fairly well adjusted child. Nordle is. Well. Temperamental, defensive, and weirdly bitter and cantankerous. Hes like seven.
The difference is obvious. Despite the less than amicable divorce, Heinz remained extremely involved in Vanessa's life. He's really loving, extremely supportive, and despite the tension in their relationship, neither parent lets Vanessa bad talk the other. He throws her big birthday parties, takes her out to father daughter trips, and despite his own hang ups and inclinations to hover, he really really tries to let her have her own life, friends and interests... Even if they completely oppose his own. Heinz is, by all accounts, an absolutely wonderful father.

Professor Exclamation, on the other hand, AKA Jack Ampersand (I will continue to call him Jack) while keeping custody of Nordle after the divorce, he seems....largely uninvolved with actually raising Nordle. He creates a robot henchman/butler that Nordle calls Tobor (cute) that seems to be the one actually responsible for cooking, cleaning, and assisting Nordle with any school related tasks.

There ARE moments in which Jack seems a little sweet on Nordle, but these are largely motivated by his own expectations and ambitions of Nordle taking up the evil family business, and honestly they're bitter and stale moments after taking into effect the neglect and verbal abuse he treats Nordle with otherwise. Nordle is akin to one of the many tragic characters constantly seeking attention and approval from his parent, and taking his actual guardian figure (Tobor) for granted. Heinz unfailingly throws a birthday bash for Vanessa every year. Jack can't be fucked to even remember the date, much less care how old his kid actually is.
When Nordle expresses that he refuses to kill his classmate and friend (Gretel), Jack straight up disowns him. Theres a whole episode where, shortly after he goes missing, he put Nordle (and consequently Tobor and Gretel) into this mystery gauntlet dungeon to go looking for clues as to where he's hid, traps that could have straight up killed Nordle if he didn't have back-up comrades with superpowers or weapon like abilities.
Like I cannot tell you enough that Jack is an absolutely crap dad.

Seeing how both kids turn out despite some similar circumstances is really... a statement to me. Real Nature vs Nurture stuff. Its a fascinating dichotomy to me. The only difference is how their parent chooses to treat them... And already you see how differently the consequences of those actions. Idk
I really want Heinz to adopt Nordle also.
The Mental Illness Spectrum (they are both raised by megalomaniac supervillains in the dwampyverse)

season 1 complete
La Sombrerona
"tigers are not indigenous to south america"
chibi hamster eyes
into the folklore vibe of this villain, the different animation style for the backstory is a common trope by now but it's still kinda cool tbh
fred being so un-cheerful and never showing happiness la sombrerona's powers don't affect her, lmao
That was neat, actually. Interesting villain concept, amusing Kevin subplot, and enjoyable resolution. Abuelita continues to be an enjoyable character.
Two Girls, A Guy and the Council of Düm
spanish class inquisition, excuse me???
earworm's lair is overrun with earwigs huh
Another neat one, Bailey and Nordle learning to live with each other, and supervillains intending to team up against Hamster and Gretel except they're bad at it, lol. The way they've been handling Nordle and his dad has been good too, he's slowly growing into his own person.
Nano a Nano
one of the kids looks like a redesigned melissa from mml lol
wait the nightmarionette had his staff last episode, did he just make a new one or what
okay why on earth do hamster and kevin wanna keep the mind control whistle so bad
wow fred is still weirdly attached to the bottle shop guy... his bottle caps, anyway, even his mask cuz it's a symbol of her victory...?
was that a charlie's angels pose
did simon the nanobot become bob ross
Liked this one, too! Nanobot premise was done well, some interesting visuals when we actually go microscopic, and the stuff with getting rid of the villain gadgets was funny. Also heh, using a nanobot to tell a story about feeling small, I see you there.
The Unnatural History of Dr. MedusaSaurus Ph.D.
great british bakeoff parody but cockney?
those dromaeosaurs barely even have sickle claws, sad
"broferd"
hamster just stealing kevin's car batter actually made me laugh
Was alright, didn't do too much with the palaeo themed premise which naturally I'd like as a palaeo enthusiast but it still had some worthwhile moments.
No Sprain, No Gain
"this town's culture budget, man"
spider australian joke
was that the fucking dr zone music playing on the cheerleader anime
definitely an odd one with the spider armpit web villain but it worked out, nice that kevin got over the scooter thing to save the others, the lemon thing was an obvious set up but didn't realise the other things he watched also would factor in so uh yeah
Finding Professor Ex
eyyy it's candace and stacy, love the implication that they accidentally dial some number (or intentionally, no idea why they would dial it at all, some game or some shit idk), a stranger asks them in a flirty tone for pics... and they actually then oblige and send them over, someone teach these girls stranger danger :v
wonder what kevin, fred and hamster think of the girls tho lol
fred writing anticapitalist vampire novels? i'm down
"father hates children" nordle have u unpacked that
wow transfixed by the tv the moment it comes back on, are you guys ok
creepy doll factory song is neat, love the background choir
This was neat, funny subplot and a surprise non-Doof related PnF cameo, and it's always neat seeing stuff with Nordle. Good that him and Tobor seem to be getting closer. But wow, Exclamation literally dumped his kid for his evil plan.
Bayou Barb
gretel pulled an "I'm LiTErAlLy A mINoR"
swamp tree lady is unbelievable when you're dealing with crazy ass supervillains every week, get a grip guys
okay ep i guess, don't have too much to say, was kinda expecting the reveal to be that barb wanted to get away from it all cuz of how obsessive everyone is but no she just was hiding away and now wants to cash in as much as everyone else in this town, idk how i feel there :v
The Great Pillow War
of course kevin's dreaming about hiromi
dan wasn't kidding when he said he wanted gretel to look disney, she looks like some old timey disney princess in these flashbacks
what IS the fun way of becoming a people pop huh lyle
Decent enough, some more of the twins but also lots of pillow fight shenanigans. Sibling fights are complicated, lol.
Shush Hour
gretel writing a report on herself for school lmao
obligatory doof mention, lol only 3 views
Huh, this was an interesting one. Surprisingly creepy villain with one of the most villain songs to villain song in the show thus far. Kevin managed to be cool here, saving the day on his own even without being able to speak, and also nice that Gretel changed her assignment to be about her brother.
I Was a Teenage Mad Scientist
"only an idiot - two idiots" *shows two credited writers*
"class of" *mic goes out when she's meant to say the year*
Cool to get an ep focused on Exclamation, actually kind of enjoying him. Also fun to learn about his history as Juggling Jack Ampersand, and how everyone actually really liked him, which he now hates. I do think it's cool that they're building up to the finale like this.
Too Many Crooks
did they do a revenge of the sith high ground reference with some stuck up zoo guide and bailey of all people
wait shit they did the whole scene
they even do a father bit at the end
Okay that was fun, villain that literally forces Gretel out of her comfort zone and she has to think harder about how to beat her. Also that zoo guide sure was something, is he okay
President Fred
Well that was certainly a ride, the impostor reveal certainly made things make sense in the end. Also of course, no real political commentary allowed, Fred was fake this whole time. :v
Flake It Till You Make It
obligatory love handel cameo mention
Decent enough, was cool that Gretel's bad time management was how they figured out how to beat the Flake. Not too much else to say. Guess we see how superhero life affects the parents a bit more?
Game Changer
anime cheerleader girls laugh at kevin
Surprise return of the fake European country villains and their weird video game obsession. Ep was neat enough, nice that Kevin and Hiromi are making progress. Bailey befriending not-Bailey was funny. Kinda surprised Fred even considered the obvious scam TBH, not the biggest dealbreaker though.
Exclamation Strikes Back
okay the creepy hiromi robot kidnapping kevin was totally a josh idea wasn't it, it even evokes the pistachions disguised as people
okay is exclamation as billy no elbows or whatever something we can spot in earlier episodes
was that a music cue from the pnf summer song, the one that plays in stuff like that sinking feeling and pnf interrupted
hey olivia olson singing
Well that was a season finale! The unbendium or whatever key being able to destroy the rock IDK if that works for me, I know you can't "bend" it but IDK if that means it can smash alien rocks. Whatever. It all mostly worked in the end. Rough ending for Kevin though. Hiromi even admits to liking him back but just thinks it won't work. Also lol, aliens were making villains just so Hamster and Gretel would be prepared to fight some bigger bad in the end.
Anyway that's the season done. I will say that it started rough, and there's definitely a couple of rough patches like some of the humour not always working (it did even remind me of MML's worse stuff, though thankfully not as excessive or groan worthy), but it does end up working more overtime. There isn't much if anything I'd call truly great, but it's been a neat show to watch overall. I'll check out the second season once that's all aired, so hopefully I can access it more easily.
alright guys, i'm finally gonna be watching something i've been putting off for two and a half hears
time to watch fucking hamster and gretel

My thoughts and predictions on some of these episode names:
Hakuna Ma Kevin: Given what happened at the end of "Exclamation Strikes Back", it's very likely that Kevin would be in a funk, so I think Gretel would try to cheer him up, especially since it's a pun on "Hakuna Matata", the Lion King song about not having to worry, with the phrase being Swahili for "no problems". It makes sense when you realize some of the earlier episodes with important revelations ("Empower Failure", "U.F. UH-OH!", "My Invisible Friend") have a direct follow-up as the next episode ("Oakey Dokey", "Grounded", "The Bitter Sitter").
The Great American Telenovela: I've seen people speculate that La Cebolla will return in an episode purely because they see Spanish names in its title, and I kinda groan at that (see "La Sombrerona", which has nothing to do with La Cebolla). "The Great American Telenovela" is different: I actually CAN see La Cebolla make a return in this episode, because before she became a villain, La Cebolla used to be a telenovela star, and this episode SEEMS to be about a telenovela. I'm not 100% sure if that would actually be the case, though. But I could imagine that La Cebolla would attempt to make her own telenovela series as revenge or something, with Team H&G infiltrating as actors to get intel on La Cebolla's true motivations.
Lair Necessities: I could see this episode being about a villain either trying to find a new lair and/or trying to redecorate it. I think it would be funny if said villain also asks Hamster and Gretel for advice, lol.
Tobor or Not Tobor: Similar to OP's thoughts: this will have to do with Nordle, Tobor and maybe Professor Exclamation. Perhaps Tobor is malfunctioning and only Professor Ex knows how to fix him, but might try to make Tobor more obedient to him and less of a father figure to Nordle?
I Love Luchie: Definitely will be about El Luchador in some fashion.
The More, the Meteor: Previously registered as "Make Ends Meteor", but that doesn't change my views much. So, remember when Gretel had to protect the city from a meteor in "Oakey Dokey"? Well, it's very likely that Gretel will have to protect the city from another meteor here. Remember how the meteor in "Oakey Dokey" was the result of a series of chain events caused by Gretel herself (which in turn was the result if another chain reaction that Gretel caused in "Empower Failure"), and that Gretel's Meteor Punch split the thing in two, with one half crashing into Oakey? Well, what if this new meteor is the result of another chain reaction, caused by that other half of the meteor from aaaaall the way back in "Oakey Dokey"?
My Hammie Vice: It's a pun on the TV series Miami Vice with "hamster" incorporated, so it'll definitely involve Hamster in some fashion. I should note that OP thinks that "vice" may refer to "vice president", but "vice" could also refer to "wicked or immoral behavior" (the Miami Vice TV series IS a crime drama series, after all), not just a prefix referring to the second in command. Perhaps the episode is about a crime investigation.
Silence of the Tchotchkes: Could be the return of Tchotchke Jones. I don't think it'll happen but it would be comical if he's being restrained Hannibal Lecter-style, given the title being a pun on Silence of the Lambs.
The New Adventures of Super Kevin: Kevin finally gets superpowers, calling it right here right now. I imagine it'll be under a certain condition, though, and I'm afraid that Kevin will not meet that condition and get his powers taken away by the end of the episode, or at least, the aliens say they take it way.
The Search for Super Guy: Either Kevin himself goes missing, or Kevin has made such an impact as a superhero that the absence of his superhero self is immediately noticeable by the townsfolk as they wonder where he's gone to. Of course "Super Guy" can never come back if the aliens do decide to take Kevin's superpowers away, so...
Before moving on to the next episode, I would like to speculate on Kevin and Hiromi's relationship as well, when it could be salvaged to be precise. From the current information we have, "Hakuna Ma Kevin" at the beginning, or "The New Adventures of Super Kevin" and "The Search for Super Guy" smack dab in the middle seem like the most likely options. Aside from all of them seemingly Kevin-focused, "Hakuna Ma Kevin" could be about Gretel trying to cheer Kevin up but leading Kevin into danger as Hiromi learns the truth about Hamster and Gretel (probably because of Gretel's impulsiveness to save her brother), gets roped into the situation because of that, and getting a proper explanation from Kevin after the episode's main debacle. With the Super Kevin eps, perhaps Hiromi learns about this new superhero being Kevin the whole time because of the aliens taking his powers away at the end of "New Adventures of Super Kevin", or Kevin simply fessing up near the end of "Search for Super Guy". Nevertheless, either situation could end up with Hiromi forgiving Kevin and the two dating for real. That said, if the crew really decides on throwing the ship through the window, this could also lead to Hiromi being upset like Bailey was in "The Bitter Sitter"... or both could end up happening.
Hamster Ex Machina: given the pun on "deus ex machina", maybe some crazy, contrived stuff will happen on a constant basis.
Paging Doctor Potatini: The "paging doctor" part sounds like part of a hospital emergency code like "paging Dr. Sinclair" or something, but the doctor's name "Potatini" sounds like a portmanteau of "potato" and "appletini" (apple martini)... not sure what this character's gimmick would be.
Gentlemen Prefer Fronds: A pun on the musical Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, and a fern-like plant called "frond"... perhaps this ep could introduce a plant-based villain... or a plant-based femme-fatale vilainess a la Poison Ivy?
Squeaky Friday: Since it's a pun on Freaky Friday, perhaps this is a body swap episode. "Squeaky" could allude to Hamster, so maybe Hamster and Gretel switch bodies for a day... or maybe Hamster and Kevin?
Gran Slam: Previously registered as "A Tale of Two Grannies", but that doesn't change my views much at all. This will most likely involve a rivalry between Abuelita Gomez and another grandmother. The most likely could be perhaps Kevin and Gretel's paternal grandmother, aka Dave's mom, aka Fred's grandmother. Or they could go the same route as Phineas and Ferb's "Crack That Whip" and have the other grandmother be Hiromi's grandmother instead. Or maybe Bailey's grandmother? Anthony's grandmother? Nordle's grandmother?
Trading Faces: Pun on the term "trading places". Could also potentially involve bodyswapping, or maybe shapeshifting. I do wonder if this episode is anything like Milo Murphy's Law's penultimate episode and directly connects to the season finale. In this case, that would be...
Who's Afraid of Mordros the Annihilator?: Mordros is most likely this greater evil the aliens were talking about at the end of "Exclamation Strikes Back". Wonder if the aliens were telling the truth about it and that Mordros is a genuine threat, or if this is actually something the aliens made for Gretel to fight, possibly for entertainment purposes? It's kinda strange that the aliens are giving all sorts of villains superpowers for Gretel to fight as training for this ultimate baddie, but dismiss on giving Kevin any superpowers, when they need all the help they can get to defeat this Mordros guy?! Yeah, totally not sus at all...
