Episode 7 notes
I reccomend reading the episode right before reading this, otherwise it might be a little confusing.
THESE NOTES WILL HAVE SPOILERS UP TO EPISODE 146!!!
GENERAL NOTES:
Ok, no, Day is not noticing the jealously...
Tumblr media
Well, then he says sth abt Exer being jealous but I think Day just thinks Exer doesn't want to expand the friend group. Like that friend who still wants to do things exactly the way they were when you were 8, and refuses to change anything
But anyways, now even Day wants to REALLY befriend Jackson. And if we consider that supposedely Exer has some not-recognised feelings for him... well, his jealously is just raising and raising
This could be some kind of breaking point for Exer. Before, he could excuse himself by thinking something between the lines of "I just wanted to know how much he could see. I didn't want him to be better than me. Making him feel bad was never my intention", but in this episode his one and only goal was to hurt Jackson emotionally. (Well, you could argue that his goal was to make him back off, after the glaring didn't work. But still, this goes a step beyond from the previous teasing; he's directly attacking Jackson's feelings and trying to make him feel like sh... sugar)
Also adding to the previous note of "breaking point", and passing from jealously to bullying, we can see Exer reducing Jackson to someone "inferior", so he can avoid feeling bad for being a jerk.
Tumblr media
You could argue that he's just making up excuses to not include Jackson and make the "epic trio" Day's talking about. But I don't think it's just that. Exer is not a cartoon villain that wants to mess with Jackson and make his life miserable just because. From his POV, his doing is logical, or fair. And in order to think that bullying someone else is fair, you need to believe that the other one deserves it (either bc you think they are jerks or inferior)
Also he's using Pam as a part of the teasing. Bc making Jackson spill his food on someone else wouldn't have been fair for that person, but Pamela? She deserves it, she's a freak (again, reducing someone he hates into an inferior person in order not to feel bad for being a jerk. Also, notice how he uses "freak" and "witch" to marginalise Pam, and how he's afraid of his secret coming out --the magic-- and ppl treating him like a "freak")
Maybe I'm reading between lines way too much but look at this (the following images are in order, but with some scenes skipped):

We first see what actually happening, i.e. the wet floor sign is there, even though we are technically seeing things from Jackson's POV. Then Exer stares angrily at Jackson and the wet floor sign. And then we see the memory of Jackson of the previous scene and the sign is not there. Plus, instead of how usually his memories are portrayed (with them being darker, brownish and with some TV noise), this one has the greenish aura.

All this just makes me think that Exer manipulated Jackson's memory instead of it being a hallucination? Maybe?? That'd be crazy.
In the imaginary scene, Jackson has greenish eyes. Or a greenish light is reflecting in Jackson's eyes. So, if Exer uses magic directly into Jackson's mind, his eyes glow in the color of Exer's magic? Would that mean that if Diary affects directly into Jackson's mind, his eyes would glow in the color of Diary's magic? That's sth interesting for paying attention in S2. (Jackson's eyes have glow green when seeing Exer's magic in episode 1, when Exer wasn't necessary controlling Jackson's mind directly, so I'm not sure of this)
Pam's being so nice in the scene after
LOOK AT EXER'S GLARE WHEN DAY IS WONDERING WHERE'S JACKSON

EXTRA NOTES:
There's a slight chromatic aberration in the imaginary scene, in just 3 panels: 1 is imaginary Exer and Day mocking Jackson, and 2 are Jackson when he realized he can't move.
There's yet again a blackish aura when Exer's glaring, but, more interestingly, also in the imaginary scene... Black is usually used in comics to represent night, a memory or a dream, the last 2 being close enough to "imagination", so the blackish aura could represent that. BUT we know Jackson/Diary's magic is white/gray/black, and Exer was wondering through Jackson/Diary's mind...
