Prior to the dev of their mapping system, Apple had acquired several startups over time that would lead up to the development of Apple Maps.
Tumblr media
Initially, Apple partnered with TomTom until 2020. Likewise, Microsoft, Garmin, and previously Google, uses HERE Technologies (formerly NavTeq, later acquired by Nokia, then sold off to Daimler [now Mercedes-Benz Group], BMW Group, and Porsche Automobil Holding [through its VW Group subsidiary, via its Audi division]).

Finally watched the 1916 TKLUTS movie!
My (spoiler-free) thoughts:
*GROAN* Another “Aronnax has a daughter” movie?!
Oh geeze, are Mademoiselle Aronnax and Ned going to get together?
Captain Nemo looks like an old, retired hippy who misses the 60’s. (I suppose in a way that kind of fits his character?)
Actually kind of digging the costume and set designs.
The Nautilus SURFACES RIGHT NEXT TO THE SHIP and they say, “Its hide is too tough to be pierced by a harpoon!”
Can you not see it’s a vessel? When was the last time the crew of the Abraham Lincoln visited an optometrist?!
The crew is just dragging Mademoiselle Aronnax unconscious down the hatch like a rag doll.
Mademoiselle Aronnax and Ned are already holding hands. Didn’t waste any time, did they?
Mysterious Island crossover? With a sexy jungle lady?!
I am so, so very confused right now.
Ah to be a sexy jungle lady standing on a hill being flocked by birds.
Oh, I think the crossover is trying to fix the timeline discrepancies in the books.
I’m impressed with the underwater shots.
Nemo: “There’s a barricada!”
[Cuts to an image of a shark.]
“Oh look, a lone woman in the jungle! What should we give her first? Food? Medical care? Oh, I know: pants!”
Gratuitous male fantasies. No judgment tbh.
Neat diving suits! Loving the underwater scenes!
Of course they’d leave the girl behind while hunting. Girls don’t get to have fun in 1916.
HOLY FRICK we watch a man murder Nemo’s wife and daughter with his bare hands.
Englishman haunted by the ghost of Nemo’s wife! 😧
The octopus puppet. 😂
That’s three assault attempts and one murder at this point. This movie has absolutely no chill.
Are those divers holding hands?
Tom Ayrton???
AHA! I knew it was her!
Um…Nemo’s not Indian? He ruled generic middle eastern country? ™️
"Tomtoms?" Wrong kind of Indian.
Saw an Indian map in the background.

google maps can no longer be used without a network connection on android, even if you download offline maps. apparently it's only capable of tracking your gps location if it has a cell tower connection, something that was absolutely not true 6 months ago. it is now inferior to the tomtom navigator that came with my used car back in 2013.

Excellent addition! Also: car navigation!! Someone from the US help me make a timeline here for
Paper maps, either flip-through or fold-out, with maybe a route marked with pen if you could afford it, stopping every now and then (if you didn't have a passenger/navigator) to check if you were still on the right path
Printed-out Google Maps route on the passenger seat, and again stopping, or having a passenger, or printing them out huge and reading while you drive
Little suction-cup doohickey on your dash, with NOT A PHONE BUT a portable navigation device (TomTom!)
Suction cup doohickey for your smartphone
Built in navi in your car
I am a child of the 70s and 80s and lived through all of these. Phase 2 was still my go-to in uni, early 2000s, and not ubiquitous either; my parents never used GMaps but rather kept using paper maps until phase 5!!
Younger writers. Please, just know that you could not skip to different songs on a cassette tape, that’s CDs. With tapes you pressed fast forward or rewind and prayed.
Also, VHS tapes did not have menu screens. Your only options were play, fast forward, rewind, pause, stop, or eject.
Y’all are making me feel like the crypt keeper here, I’m begging you 😭

How to quest chronologically in World of Warcraft Retail
Keep in mind: - Retail has removed and/or changed many if not all vanilla quests, so to experience that content in full you should play classic as well. - The first retail expansions are different from the recent ones. They do not have a definite Main Quest and therefor the "main questline" of each expansion and zone isn't marked as that which can be confusing, unlike the recent expansions that display main quests separately in the quest log/tracker. ("Campaign") - The first expansions don't really have a continuous, connected questline in terms of which zone or questline is first even if some quests will mention events as if they have already happened while for you it's in the future since you haven't done that quest yet.
#1 - Use Addons. To play chronologically you're gonna have a much better and easier time using addons. BtWQuests, Quest Completist and TomTom is a must. All three can be found on curseforge and are easy to install and update.
#2 - Starting 1. Create your character and choose either to do Cataclysm or The Burning Crusade as your starter expansion. Since the vanilla quests aren't reliable anymore I found the best method to be to do The Burning Crusade first, then Wrath of the Lich King and then Cataclysm/the remaining vanilla quests. You can't tell cataclysm and vanilla quests apart other than which events they mention every now and again.
2. Rely on BtWQuests first. Go through the questlines as listed in BtWQuests, and when you've finished all that's listed from one zone, look at your map and go to the remaining ones that are marked using Quest Completist. Make sure you also have turned on "low-level quest" and "trivial quests" so that every little quest is listed. BtWQuests will mark the essential, more important questlines and Quest Completist marks the rest that usually isn't displayed on the map even with the two other ones enabled. TomTom helps mark npcs and other things on the map automatically and works with BtWQuests as well as Wowhead.
3. Dungeons & Raids. You can do this two ways. Either you can do them as they come up in the story, or you can save them until you've finished the whole expansion or zone you're in. Ideally you'd do it the first way but unfortunately in some expansions you'll be revisiting one raid or dungeon multiple times during the expansion questline and that can be a bit annoying having to constantly go back so personally I try to wait with them until I am finished with the whole expansion.

✈️ Never Miss a Flight Again: Your Complete Guide to Punctual Airport Transfers
Tumblr media
Ever sprinted through airport gates only to find the doors already closed? If yes, you already know the cost of a delayed airport transfer. In India, where traffic and last-minute cancellations are common, punctual airport transfers aren’t just nice—they’re necessary. 🕒
🚘 What Is an Airport Transfer & Why Timing is Everything
An airport transfer is a pre-arranged transport service between an airport and your destination. It can be private, shared, or part of a bus rental service for groups.
In cities like Bangalore, Delhi, and Mumbai, traffic congestion adds an average of 45 minutes to an hour of travel time during peak hours (source: TomTom Traffic Index 2024). That means one late cab can easily cost you an international flight. ⛔
📉 The Real Impact of Delayed Airport Pickups in India
According to a 2023 report by IATA, 26% of Indian travelers who missed flights blamed unreliable ground transport. Ride-sharing apps like Ola and Uber, while convenient, often cancel during high-demand hours.
Airlines like IndiGo and Air India recommend arriving at least 2.5 to 3 hours before an international departure. But if your pickup is 20 minutes late, your buffer time quickly evaporates. ⏳
✅ How to Guarantee an On-Time Pickup Every Time
Here’s what seasoned travelers do differently: they book with trusted providers like Tejas Travels, a leading tour and travels company in India. With a dedicated airport transfer service, Tejas ensures:
🚗 Scheduled pickups using real-time traffic insights via Google Maps 📱 Driver tracking and instant communication ⏱️ 24x7 availability, even for odd-hour flights
Their specialized bus rental service is especially reliable for large groups or corporate teams flying together.
🌟 Why Tejas Travels Is Trusted for Punctual Airport Transfers
Operating in metro cities including Bangalore, Chennai, and Hyderabad, Tejas Travels has built a reputation around on-time travel and excellent fleet quality.
Whether it’s a solo ride to the airport or a wedding bus hire for an entire family flying in, they ensure:
🚌 Clean and AC-fitted vehicles 🕑 Consistent track record of timely arrivals 💬 4.7+ Google Rating backed by verified reviews
In fact, their coach rental service is frequently used by NRI families during wedding seasons when timing is absolutely non-negotiable.
🚐 Private vs Shared Transfers: What’s Better for Punctuality?
Shared transfers like hotel shuttles or app-based carpools are cost-effective—but they come with risks. A detour for one passenger can mean a delay for all.
Private options through companies like Tejas Travels offer:
🚘 Direct routes with no stops 🧳 Space for multiple suitcases 📲 Real-time updates with driver location
For group events like corporate retreats or destination weddings, travel bus rental is often the most punctual and cost-effective solution.
📍 Where Airport Transfers Matter Most: India's Busiest Airports
In cities like Mumbai, even a 10 km distance from the airport can take 45–60 minutes during peak hours. Delhi’s IGI Airport sees over 70 million passengers annually, and in Bangalore, the airport is over 35 km from the city center.
This makes reliable airport pickup not just helpful—but critical. Tejas Travels offers airport transfer services across these major hubs with time buffers planned around real-time congestion reports.
📲 Booking Smart: Tools That Help You Avoid Delays
Using apps like FlightRadar24, Google Maps, or Skyscanner, you can track both flights and road traffic before booking a pickup. But here’s what smart travelers do: they pre-book airport transfers at least 24 hours in advance with providers like Tejas.
That way, you can coordinate flight delays, reschedule pickups, or even switch vehicles without hassle. A proactive approach beats last-minute scrambling every time.
💬 Real Reviews That Prove Timing Is Everything
One Tejas Travels customer in Bangalore shared: “My 4 AM flight was saved only because the driver showed up at 2:30 AM sharp—despite heavy rains and zero cabs available on Uber.”
Another from Hyderabad said: “We used Tejas’s bus rental service for 40 wedding guests. Not only were they on time, they even helped with luggage transfers to the terminal.”
Such experiences reinforce why reliable airport transfers aren’t a luxury—they’re a travel essential. ✈️🧳
🛫 What If My Flight Is Delayed? Don’t Panic, Here’s What to Do
Flight delays are unpredictable. But if your airport transfer is pre-arranged with a company like Tejas Travels, they’ll adjust your pickup timing automatically using flight status tools.
This means no frantic rescheduling, no missed calls, no lost time. Just a calm, predictable arrival—even when things go sideways in the air.
🚌 Group Travel? Use a Bus Rental Service for Seamless Airport Transfers
Whether you're organizing a wedding bus or a corporate event, using a bus rental service eliminates the need to coordinate multiple cabs.
Tejas Travels offers:
✔️ Large, comfortable buses with driver support ✔️ GPS-tracked routes from your pickup point to airport gates ✔️ Affordable rates for group bookings
And during peak travel season, especially in metro cities, this option ensures both punctuality and peace of mind. ✅
✈️ Final Thoughts: Timing Isn’t Just Important, It’s Everything
The difference between a stress-free journey and a missed flight often comes down to airport transfer reliability. In India, where urban traffic and weather disruptions are real risks, it’s not worth gambling on a last-minute ride.
Choose trusted professionals like Tejas Travels, leverage technology smartly, and opt for bus services when traveling in groups. Because when it comes to flying, being on time isn’t early—it’s just right.

Driving Across Europe or the US? Here’s the Best Offline GPS for Truckers
Tumblr media
Navigating long-haul trucking routes across Europe and the United States is no small feat. From varying road regulations and vehicle restrictions to limited internet connectivity in remote areas, professional drivers need more than just an average GPS app. They need a powerful, reliable, and truck-specific navigation solution—one that works offline and understands the unique needs of heavy vehicle operators.
Whether you’re driving through the Alps or across the Great Plains, having the right GPS can make the difference between a smooth trip and a stressful detour. That’s where the Offline Truck GPS Navigation app becomes your ultimate co-pilot.
Why Truckers Need More Than Just a Basic GPS App
A regular navigation app works fine for cars, but when you’re behind the wheel of a multi-ton lorry or freightliner, your challenges multiply:
Low bridges and weight restrictions
Hazmat regulations
Limited parking for trucks
Tight city streets unsuitable for large vehicles
Remote areas with no internet signal
Professional truck drivers need customized routing based on vehicle dimensions, real-time traffic insights, and a dependable offline mode—features standard apps just don’t provide. This is where the Offline Truck GPS Navigation app outshines the competition.
The Ultimate Truck GPS App – Built for the Road Less Traveled
The Offline Truck GPS Navigation app is designed from the ground up for professional drivers. It's not just another map app with truck mode—it’s a fully-featured trucking assistant. With TomTom-powered maps and robust offline capabilities, this app covers over 60 countries with truck-specific navigation intelligence.
🌍 Global Coverage with Localized Precision
Whether you’re planning a haul from Manchester to Madrid or New York to Nevada, this app provides:
Full coverage of Europe, including UK, Germany, France, Spain, Italy, and Eastern Europe
North American support in the US, Canada, and Mexico
Offline truck navigation in Australia, South Africa, and Southeast Asia
No matter where your route leads, you’ll get precise, up-to-date directions even in areas with no signal.
Top Features That Make It the Best GPS App for Truckers
1. 🚛 Truck-Specific Routing
Unlike car GPS systems, this app calculates routes based on your truck’s height, weight, length, and axle load. That means you won’t get stuck at a low-clearance bridge or a weight-restricted road. Input your vehicle dimensions once, and every route adapts accordingly.
2. 📴 Offline GPS Navigation
Going through rural Montana or remote parts of Eastern Europe? No problem. With offline maps, you can still navigate confidently without a data signal. Download maps by region before your trip, and you’re covered.
3. 🛣️ Avoid Restrictions Automatically
Low bridges, narrow lanes, and restricted zones are automatically flagged. The app helps you steer clear of:
Hazmat restrictions
Tunnels not suitable for trucks
Environmental zones
One-way streets too tight for big rigs
4. 🛑 Real-Time Traffic Alerts and Route Recalculation
Live traffic data helps you avoid jams and road closures. If a problem arises, the app recalculates instantly, offering alternate truck-friendly routes without delay.
5. 🗺️ Satellite Navigation with 2D/3D Display
Switch between 2D and 3D maps for a more intuitive driving experience. With clear map views, navigating unfamiliar routes becomes easier and safer.
6. 🎙️ Voice Guidance in Multiple Languages
Clear, turn-by-turn voice instructions keep your eyes on the road and your hands on the wheel. Perfect for international drivers or multilingual teams.
7. ⛽ Trip Planner with Truck Stops and Fuel Stations
Plan your rest breaks, refueling, and overnight stops using the built-in Driving Trip Planner. Search and save:
Truck-friendly fuel stations
Designated truck parking areas
Rest areas along your route
8. 🌙 Day/Night Mode for Safer Driving
Adjust visibility for night drives or bright daylight with auto-switching map themes. Less glare and better contrast mean less eye strain and safer driving.
Regions Supported by the App
This isn’t just a UK or US app—it’s a global navigation tool for truckers. Here’s where you can use it offline:
✔ Europe
UK, Ireland, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Netherlands, Belgium, Austria, Poland, Romania, and many more.
✔ North America
United States, Canada, and Mexico.
✔ Oceania
Australia and New Zealand.
✔ Africa
South Africa.
✔ Southeast Asia
Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam.
And even smaller regions like Andorra, Liechtenstein, and Gibraltar are covered with precision!
Real-World Use Case: From Berlin to Barcelona
Imagine this: You’re hauling cargo from Berlin to Barcelona, a 1,500+ km journey across several borders, traffic laws, and route restrictions. Without a truck-specific GPS, you risk:
Entering weight-restricted roads in France
Getting stuck near low-clearance bridges in rural Spain
Wasting time looking for truck stops
With Offline Truck GPS Navigation, you:
Get a pre-optimized route for your lorry
Download the offline maps of Germany, France, and Spain ahead of time
Plan fuel stops and rest breaks efficiently
Avoid restricted areas and toll-heavy zones
The result? You save time, reduce stress, and ensure on-time delivery.
