As cameras becomes more normalized (Sarah Bernhardt encouraging it, grifters on the rise, young artists using it), I wanna express how I will never turn to it because it fundamentally bores me to my core. There is no reason for me to want to use cameras because I will never want to give up my autonomy in creating art. I never want to become reliant on an inhuman object for expression, least of all if that object is created and controlled by manufacturing companies. I paint not because I want a painting but because I love the process of painting. So even in a future where everyone’s accepted it, I’m never gonna sway on this.

if i have to explain to you that using a camera to take a picture is not the same as using generative ai to generate an image then you are a fucking moron.

Hey folks i am DE-recomending Reedsy now :) because you have to pay for a bunch of features now :) that were previously free :)) and also they don't even work properly half the time so why would you even PAY to use them :)) if anyone has a different place to write, i'd greatly appreciate it because i have to move everything over to a new place now. Typing a prompt into a box and letting an AI program generate a song for you does not make you a musician.

If the AI is doing 99% of the work for you, then you're not an artist.

#ai discourse #that's not to say that AI programs can't be used as a tool #but if you're treating their output as the final product #without putting any actual work into it yourself outside of writing the prompt #then it's not really YOUR work is it?

i am not quite just tracing my reference photo. i did desaturate it, eyedropper the grays, and use them to shade my sketch (which itself was half from sight, half traced). then i put some gradient maps on the gray sketch (blue for background and floor, orange-green for tiger). no markings on the tiger because i still haven't put my reference maquette through a glaze firing yet. and of course this will be warped in unknowable ways whenever it is rendered again in acrylic paint

#tiger tag #from 2014-2019 i mostly did digital art and let me tell u: i love using digital art as a tool for an eventual weird physical product #and not as an end in itself #[except for gay fanart]#[and even then!]#i also have not used acrylic since 2014. i am willing to do a bad job with acrylic and then go in with like colored pencil etc

I always love a good day where I can make two offerings! Very fulfilling.

adobe is evil and all and i'm a sucker for paying for creative cloud for the past decade i know i know but god i love their font library. i hate downloading and installing fonts, being able to just click one button and add a font to every adobe software is magic and wonderful and beautiful and amazing

#obviously not as wide of a selection as yknow. the entirety of the rest of the internet #but it does the job #also ok correction i pay for half the subscription my mum pays for the other half cause she uses it once every five months #NOT a fair divide considering i use it once every five minutes #but i'm not gonna stop her cause that shit is expensive #i do need adobe to burn to the ground for about seventy five different reasons #but i am unfortunately so very fond of their products #even if the fuckass ai tool suggestion popups are making me want to pull a luigi

#not gonna get into the whole Female Socialization thing bc i dont CARE I DONT SHUT UP #but like. i was someones daughter and i was given dolls to play with the whole Barbie Controversy is shit ive always been aware of #no barbie didnt reflect me. i also had no desire for her to #i dont think the doll is like a tool of patriarchy its like. a response to it #a product of a society that upholds patriarchy it was a natural reaction #but it is also a product a thing ment to be marketed to a wide audience #the barbie movie could never be based because it needed women who shave their legs compulsively to like it #why am i talking about barbie you ask that movie came out almost two years ago #well i like ythe ken song. i think its really sad the ken song was the most enthralling part of that movie for me #i liked the billie eilish montage at the end but one is easier to remember bc its like. a campy spectacle #it was more in line with the tone the film established while it was forgetting barbie had like. an arc they dropped for a bit #the whole thing is so. its not BAD #but i keep comiing back to barbies womanhood and thus her personhood being reaffirmed by america through her own agony and self hatred #barbie goes ill never be enough and america goes YES all women feel that!!!!!#and thats like uh. kind of horrifying? i wish That was the movie #i wish a lot of different things individually were their own movie
