OK so I won’t deny that I took creative liberty from Stan’s many moons design from phone destroyer!

1. Stan: Stan’s main skill to the group is that he’s very good at hunting and tracking, Stan is still friends with Kyle but gets annoyed with him sometimes due to Kyle snob attitude. Stan’s age:19

Let's talk ✨🌍WORDBUILDING🌍✨

No, really - it's something I really struggle with a lot. I'm best at writing about actions that happen within a world, so my short stories tend to be sparse on worldbuilding details, allowing the audience to fill in any gaps they want to.

I'm getting the hang of worldbuilding, but then I run into another problem which is: how do I give this information to my readers? I'm a big fan of seeding things in as I go but if get excited about a detail then I get a bit heavy on the exposition, which can be boring.

So how else can I offer background lore, without writing a massive wall of text that leaves my reader's eyes involuntarily skipping over paragraphs looking for the good bit?

In-world newspaper articles.

Oathsworn: The Nameless is urban fantasy, so newspapers are absolutely a thing. It also has the extra step in difficulty of covering a long period of time - nearly 400 years - so rather than painstakingly recount history, I'm going to write newspaper articles that cover the important, story-relevant bits of history.

For example, a list of topics for articles across the centuries could be:

- cancer rates are going up [related to the use of nukes in the war] - finding ways to 'clean' radioactive sites - holy shit so many people are unaccounted for you guys [it was a hundred-year war involving supernatural beings so lots of MIA] - instances of Touched [people who have traits from being in close contact with Fae] on the rise/on the decline/how do we feel about it - this one may be more of a magazine piece, a sensation piece - we've had a breakthrough in radiation cleanup - cancer rates are going down

So of these topics, which do you want me to write first?

Befriend Scientists

No, really. if you don't have Actual Scientists (tm) in your friend group you should go out and find some because I had the time of my LIFE this evening while aksing for help with a couple of points in the worldbuilding of my novel:

Me: "Microbiologist Friend, I found this thing that said e-coli can be used to clean up radioactive contamination, is that legit?? It doesn't expand or offer sources."

MB Friend: "Here are several other sources that seem to back this up, a couple of them list different bacterium but that just gives you more to work with. Also, be aware of these specific limitations when working with bacteria."

Me: "Incredible, thank you!"

Me: "@heavymetalscientist nuclear power plants gone wrong vs nuclear warheads: what's the difference in after-effects? Also could there theoretically be radioactive fire?"

@heavymetalscientist: "Fascinating! Not only will I answer this with sources but I'll also solve a plot hole you didn't know you had using a video of a guy picking up a cube of material heated to 2,200 degrees celsius with his bare hands. You can have a video of Cherenkov radiation as a bonus."

Me: "... do you all just have this stuff in your back pockets ready to go for the right absolutely batshit question?"

Seriously, befriend a scientist or three, ask them a hypothetical, and then just sit back and enjoy the information dump.

Alternatively: befriend scientists, then sit down and watch a film that uses CRISPR as the plot point (like RAMPAGE). Just as entertaining for very different reasons!

You whimpered, because you were so turned on and also you were a little scared of what he would do to you. 

Ari had his chin resting on your shoulder, and he smirked. He barely even touched you, but he could already hear you panting. He felt bad for you just a tiny bit, because he was so busy with work that he neglected his precious girl. Right now, his precious girl was being a bad girl.

He tutted, tightening his grip on your neck a little that had you gripping his strong forearm. “Have I been neglecting you, sweetheart?” He asked, his breath tickled your ear  and his beard that you absolutely loved stroked against your jaw, leaving prickles against your skin that had your hands gripping firmly on his arm.

“Answer me.” He growled, releasing a grip a little and tightening it again. He was playing with you, like a doll that you are. “Yes.” You managed to squeak, tears in your eyes threatened to spill, not because he was hurting you; but because you wanted him to use you.

“It’s been a week, Ari.” You sniffed. You can feel him smiling against your ear. “Well, why didn’t you say so, honey?”

He released his grip from your neck and your waist, pushing you harshly towards the 

Couch that led you to stumble and land on the cushion on your knees.

“Bend over.” He commanded and you know better than to disobey him. You obliged, bending over that your chest reached the back of the couch’s back pillows and your knees were slightly raised from the cushion. You jerked a little when you felt his warm fingers touch the back of your exposed thighs, skimming the skin lightly like he was touching a delicate virgin, even if you were very far from one.

“You wanna be a slut?” He rhetorically asked, you just kept your mouth shut with your hands gripping the pillow tightly and your legs almost giving out.

“I’ll fucking treat you like one.” And with that, he flipped your skirt to your waist, completely exposing him with your drenched cunt. He swatted in between your inner thighs to signal you to open them wider and you did. “Good luck, baby. Because I don’t know when I’ll stop until I feel satisfied with my work.”

“Just so you know, I’m gonna fucking wreck you that you deserve.”

Hi everyone, I finished working on the ✨ Jorah Font ✨. We can now write anything in Jorah's handwriting! (In English at least.)

You can download the font here. Here's how to install a font on Windows or Mac.

Please use it freely for any creation, including other versions of the font! 😊 You do not have to credit me; I only ask that you 1) share the font file if someone asks 2) do not claim to have made the (first version of the) font.

You'll probably recognise the infamous "I" but all letters but three are genuine. You can read a bit more about it under the cut. Lastly, you may need to put any number in bold for better results!

I hope you enjoy playing with it!!

I made the Jorah font primarily from Jorah's letter to Daenerys. I've then searched for other material written by Iain Glen for the missing signs.

Q, Z, z, 3, 4, !, ° and ; are made with other letters and/or symbols. They are the Frankenstein's monsters of letters, if you will.

5, 8 and 9 and most of the symbols (except - , . ' and " which are all genuine) are taken from the fonts Dombold and Tekton Pro; I've then arranged the lettering a bit to get closer to the other signs and get a more handwritten-feel.

All other signs were written by Jorah or IG. Of course, I've chosen one letter in particular if there was more than one occurrence; slight variations also come from the vectorisation of all the signs and the need to harmonise all the signs from different sources.
