hi this question is directed at nick specifically: i've seen you mention having really poor fine motor skills multiple times over the years and i am an aspiring lead guitarist and i also have the same issue, i was kind of wondering how much the whole motor skills issue affects that? i distinctly remember a tiktok where you mentioned you have a hard time combing your hair because of your lack of hand-eye coordination and that immediately made me think of how i am cos that is a specific task i've always struggled with (along with the whole driving thing)!!!
it affects it in so much as i have to be extra conscious when we're playing live. if i'm not careful i will run into something or someone on stage and break something - it's happened in the past, and as much as i like to jump around if i don't walk around the spave during soundcheck i have a hard time understanding how i can physically move through the space.
in terms of playing guitar, i try to play rhythm over lead whenever i can. if I'm ever playing lead I use dunlop tortex picks, because they're really sharp and they're usually pretty forgiving when my picking hand isn't very accurate.
in terms of being a lead guitarist i don't think it'll inhibit you at all - you might need to practice a little more at first to get your hand co-ordination up, but it's not going to hamper your creativity or your flow.

gear talk questions?
go on a ramble about basses pls, what are good options for beginners regarding strings, picks (especially picks pls) and every other equipment? my dad's gonna "gift" me his old bassguitar for xmas and I NEED INFO
much love ~Yami
HEHEHEHEHEH IM SO GLAD I ASKED
for beginners I'd say nickle strings because steel will kill you if you don't have some calluses already, ernie balls are cool, 45-100 or 55-110 gauge
regarding picks something basic like dunlop tortex but thick, 1.14 and over BUT dont start playing bass with a pick. learn playing with your fingers well first and then go to learning picks
about other stuff I'm not sure what to tell you because I dunno what more you need, like amp, affects and that stuff? if so than lemme know and I'll talk about that hahsgshahsg

Jazu swojego życia
Żeby Was... Info 24. Posłuchajcie:
Tak się dałem wczoraj podejść... XD Wstyd mi. 34lata chłop. - Gram dobie w Assasina. Płynę łódeczką. Dopłynę do brzegu i koniec. Odpalam film. - myślę, naiwny, sobie. Była 19. O 23:30 zrozumiałem jaki popełniłem błąd. Bo to się statek na obrabowanie napatoczył. A to wczytać musiałem, bo mi ktoś wjebał.
//
Byłem dziś się przejść. Jak za starych dobrych czasów. Full trasa. - W parku było bosko. Cisza, spokój. Całą trasę przegadałem z panem L., o czym później.
//
W samym centrum miasta luz. Nawet fajnie. Żuli nie ma, ludzie mordy nie drą. Jedni siedzą i się opalają, inni jakieś lody spożywają. Sielanka.
//
//
W zoologu spokój i cisza. Rybki kolorowe.
//
W Kaufie śmieszna historia, bo koleś chyba limity płatności ma ustawione. On obwinia kartę, żona go od debili wyzywa. - Z Kaufa zniknęły zupki Amino i keczup Tortex.
//
Fajnie było. Nakręciłem niemal 15km pieszo. I jeszcze bym poszedł :P

Unlocking Your Guitar's True Potential: The Unexpected Power of Thin Guitar Picks
Have you ever experienced a musical rut when playing the guitar? Do you find it difficult to play with the exact articulation and fluid pace that you admire in guitarists? While there are many factors that contribute to a great guitar sound, the humble Guitar Picks Thin plays a surprisingly significant role. Often overlooked, the thickness of your pick can dramatically impact you’re playing style, tone, and overall expression.
Pick for Guitars that are thin, typically ranging from 0.46mm to 0.71mm, might seem like they'd offer less control, but in reality, they open up a world of possibilities for guitarists of all levels. These picks provide a unique blend of flexibility and responsiveness, allowing you to attack the strings with precision and unleash a range of tonal nuances.
Let's dive into the specific advantages that Guitar Picks Thin bring to the table:
1. Enhanced Speed and Accuracy:
Thin picks are known for their responsiveness, bending easily with the slightest touch. This allows for faster picking and intricate picking patterns, essential for techniques like tremolo picking, sweep picking, and alternate picking. The thinner gauge also allows for greater control, enabling you to execute precise movements and avoid unwanted string "skips."
2. Crisp Articulation and Defined Tones:
Thin picks offer a brighter, more defined tone with less "muddy" or "boomy" characteristics, especially on acoustic guitars. This crisp articulation allows your individual notes to ring through with clarity, adding definition to your playing. Whether you're playing intricate melodies or complex chords, a thin pick can help you achieve that crisp, clean sound.
3. Greater Flexibility and Control:
The flexibility of thin picks allows them to adapt to the contours of the strings, resulting in a more natural and fluid picking motion. This flexibility also provides better control over the dynamics of your playing, allowing you to effortlessly transition between soft and aggressive strokes.
4. Improved Finger picking Technique:
Thin picks can also be a valuable tool for finger picking, particularly for those with smaller hands. The thin profile allows for a more precise grip, minimizing fatigue and maximizing control. This leads to a smoother and more comfortable finger picking experience.
5. Exploring New Sounds and Textures:
Thin picks can expand your sonic palette beyond the conventional. Their responsiveness allows you to explore a wide range of playing techniques, from light and delicate plucking to aggressive strumming. You can experiment with different angles and pressures to discover unique textures and tones that you might not achieve with thicker picks.
6. The Choice of the Pros:
Many renowned guitarists, like John Mayer, Steve Vai, and Eric Clapton, have embraced the versatility of Guitar Picks Thin in their playing. Their preference speaks volumes about the potential these picks offer.
Finding Your Perfect Thin Pick:
With such a wide range of thin picks available, choosing the right one for your playing style can seem daunting. Start by experimenting with different materials, like nylon, celluloid, or Tortex, each offering a unique feel and tone.
Here are some tips for finding the perfect thin pick:
Consider your playing style: Are you a speed demon or a finger picking enthusiast? The type of music you play will influence your pick choice.
Experiment with different materials: Try out a variety of thin picks made from different materials to find the one that feels the most comfortable and delivers the desired sound.
Pay attention to the shape and thickness: The shape of the pick can impact its feel and control. Experiment with various shapes to find the one that best suits your grip and technique.
