Hey so a generic with the color scheme of TransMutate was in the race in Transformers One. She has the Not Chromia / Road Rocket cogged bot and alt mode shapes (that is based on IDW1 & T30 Chromia) and thus as a motorcycle is likely a homage to Beast Wars Uprising Trans-Mutate!

really funny 2 us bc thinking she wasn't in the film we put Trans-Mutate in our tf 1 fanfiction as a transfrem autistic dissident philosopher (she/they) who is 1 of 1st transformers 2 volunteer 2 mine w/ miners & support worker rights and later is part of what remains of the elected government under Sentinel's 50 cycles of rule and the new government that comes after, she 1st appears in chapter 5. you can read chapter 1 here.

It's super disappointing ;-; OG Transmutate is beautiful!! Sincerely!! It's a great design!! I love the asymmetry. I love how they walk weirdly.

I don't know how to phrase this properly but their physical disability has so much potential and is so interesting to me. If I had known them when I was a kid my childhood dream would be to become a physical therapist or orthotist (?).

Now about BWU - all BWU characters are repaints so the repaint part is understandable. I also understand why they picked TFP Arcee - it's likely a nod to their VA who also voiced G1 Arcee.

And it seems they initially did want to preserve some of Transmutate's, quoting from her bio:

Weakness Although her spark is immensely powerful, Trans-Mutate's physical frame is not. Thin struts in her arms and upper legs can be prone to damage. Transformation itself can cause strain on her structure, causing pistons or hydraulics to rupture. For this reason, Trans-Mutate usually prefers to stay in robot mode.

This is a lovely nod to their failed attempt at transforming in BW. Unfortunately this is not depicted in the comics or novels ;-; She even made some fancy moves like transforming mid-air and transforming back. Yet her being able to transform has literally no plot significance - the only interesting thing about it is that she did a bike-on-bike Junkion-style combo attack with CrazyboIt, which made the Crazybolt's boyfriend a bit jealous lmao. Still, I don't understand why they removed her "weakness".

I love BWU Trans-mutate and have come into terms to her design. (I love how she's described as "the political kind" 🥺 We definitely need more autistic characters who's political af. I love her personality.)

But can't we have both? Please the world needs more physically disabled aesthetically unconventional yet definitely appealing and political as fuck nonbinary autism representation😔

For those wondering about the symbols that Arcee, Minerva, and Road Rage are bearing, that is the symbol of the pluralstic anarcho-collectivist democratic (trans) gender/aesthetic liberation (and therein, altmodes) movement, the Delta League, which we set up as the previous name and the founding principles of the Anti-Vocationist League and building on the league being older than the Decepticons. The symbol, designed by Trans-Mutate with input from her fellow resistance members in the League's early days during the reign of Nova Prime, is a reclamation of the pacifist and defensive technology monarch-autocratesque Solus Prime's Forge of Solus Prime hammer: the meaning is the chosen transformations of spark and blood in a reforging/remaking/affirming context, cyan for sparks and later teardrops, pink for blood (a modern version would have the cyan portion double as camien blood since theirs is blue), and done in an infinite loop pattern within the hammer to reflect infinite variation and iteration.

It is, of course, conveniently, also earth-originated trans flag colors. Thank you Transformers for just, providing that opportunity XD

We aim to have about 35-40 chapters of Addendum, chapter 18 has been particularly difficult and most of the chapters near the end are done, we expect to release chapter 18 soonish :3 this writing has long been a deep joy of ours, and part of how we grappled with getting our head around IDW1 Arcee's canonical writing who our eldest headmate resonated with deeply for a number of reasons from her own life prior, and that did eventually lead to wanting to write about canon itself in the essay blurrito kindly mentioned above :3

Arcee's deco here is in part stylized after Prime Arcee, which we thought was fitting for reasons our essay gets into regarding the parallel (and we think entirely unintentional) personality overlaps of IDW and Prime Arcee. The other aspect of the deco is drawing on her stealth armor deco from The Transformers #42, Combiner Hunters, and #44, which we personally think is fun to think of as having anti-thermal / anti-radar etc. qualities the way the stealth camo introduced after Dark Cybertron that some of the Autobots use is (and one of them asks ?why didn't we use this before? minor Addendum spoiler, our fanfic answer for that is Arcee came up with it and, well canonically the Autobots weren't exactly playing ball with her and vice versa for most of the Great War)

And yeah never going to get over how sunrises and sunsets so easily lend themselves to lesbian undertones (for the record the equivalent of sapphic in how we write Cybertron is the term taganite, derived from the industrial region of the Tagan Heights, where the ancient metallurgist gal Rivetsong lived, her abstract art sculptures of her mostly-non men lovers became so famous they would inspire the term taganite. this is of course a homage to Sappho of Lesbos)

finally finished a comic commission WHOOF!! it's a scene from chapter 16 of the fic Addendum by @pluralsword, which i've drawn for before!

the fic is focused on Arcee's gender journey and her conflicts against hierarchy from the era of Nova Prime up through to past the end of IDW1's canonical run. the art depicts Anode and Lug meeting Arcee for the first time, something Pluralsword has dreamed for years of having a visual representation of, ever since xey learned that Arcee and Anode canonically knew each other sometime during the Great War before Anode and Lug's disappearance in 1516 CE on Luna 2. if you want to read about a discussion of specifically canonical IDW1 Arcee's story across the comics of that continuity and the many overlaps with real trans history of dealing with and surviving transmedicalism, gatekeeping, and a violent hierarchic androcentric world, along with finding love and community, and how her personality is a direct successor of G1 Arcee, including a bit on the two's combined legacy of sweetness and ferocity that both have, you can also check out this essay Pluralsword wrote

Upcoming Chapter 18 of Addendum

For everyone waiting on Chapter 18, we made a lot of headway on it recently, it is 2/3rds done currently :3 Hope and plan to release soon. Most of this chapter is a Rampage point of view (who we write as transmasc and his sister Trans-Mutate as transfemme, both part of the Anti-Functionist resistance known as the Delta League or the Anti-Vocationist League, back during the era of the autocracy of Nova Prime. the art we posted here is an edit of a larger piece from chapter 13), it's really amusing to us to write from his perspective how idw1 optimus early in the Great War has no way to conceive of a transmasculine cybertronian because that's the level of conceptual damage and societal harm the legacy of functionism has caused with it's pushing for an androcentric world of only cybertronian maleness as genderlessness assigned guys.

If you haven't heard of Addendum (an IDW1 Arcee novel fanfic) and are wondering what we're on about, you can check it out here and read the released chapters here, and here's a blurb over generalities of what the fic is:

It is a fanfic revolving around IDW1 Arcee, that seeks to add to her already detailed and beautiful arc of a trans woman errant warrior sage coming to terms with xemself (we're affirming her/xem in the text here since in this fic unlike canon xey eventually want to use xey pronouns too but face immense challenges to that as the story will show) and deciding to trust people and herself. We love her transformations very dearly, and wanted to further reconcile xeir appearance in Spotlight: Arcee with her later writing (canon did a rather fabulous job in this respect in Phase 2 and 3 that makes rereading her story from first issue in 2008 to last a real joy for us), drawing on wisdom gathered through study and experience, and imagination to connect the dots. As you can tell just from the appearance of Codexa and others in the story, this revisiting of IDW1 Arcee’s tale is in part made possible by later writing of gal transformers who we adore, and we will note we draw from ones from all across the decades of fiction of Transformers. What can we say, we love them, and know so much more about ourselves than we ever would have because of them. There are also a lot of trans / gender expansive headcanons tossed in here for bots across the gender spectrum. They're transformers. Emphasis on trans.

Been cooking my own tmnt iteration for a while, dunno how much will live anywhere but my brain but I wanna do some refs, so here's the turts!

I've been calling it Teenage Mutant Jazz Turtles or tmjt for short

As the name implies, tmjt has more inspiration drawn from musical elements than combat elements. With the turtles not only living in a big ol' tour bus but also attempting to become a competent band after finding their magical instruments. But the ones they discover aren't the only ones out there, and some belong to some pretty nasty characters. (All the villains are gonna have a theme based on a different genre of music!)

The turtles travel and live with their dad (Splinter) and adopted sister (Casey). Originally just trying to survive but that kind of all changes when they accidentally interrupt a plan from the foot clan and not only discover some magical instruments that can turn into weapons, but also an entire world of monsters and creatures when they thought they were the only ones.

Leo is the oldest sibling, but despite this she struggles to be responsible for her siblings after her gender realizations caused a massive crack in her confidence. She's constantly self conscious of how others are perceiving her, even her own family in spite of their boundless support. She's always loved music, thanks to her dad, and dreams of being a singer, but because of how her mouth is built that's also an uphill battle. Her duel katanas can shift into a cello which can put opponents into a trance like sleep. While her given name was Leonardo, she's not sure what she wants to change it to, and simply goes by Leo for the time being. While she doesn't like to show her mouth, her teeth and jaw are powerful enough to bite through a steel knife.

Donnie is the second oldest (by just four days!) and is the one who stepped up to be in charge while Leo figures things out. He doesn't entirely mind the responsibility, though the pressure gets to him sometimes. Especially when Raph decides to criticize his decisions. They're very analytical and logical, their main passion being for mathematics which extends into some of the sciences as well such as physics. They know enough engineering to maintain the tour bus and build a few helpful devices such as their goggles or the calculator in their glove. Donnie puts his passion for math into music, using it to map out patterns for tunes (though not all of them sound good in the end). Their four eyes also have an additional lens to see heat signatures (and their dark vision is incredible). Donnie's clarinet allows him to create visual illusions.

Raph is the second youngest (by four days, Donnie constantly reminds him) and despite his appearance is one of the more level headed members of the family. You kind of have to learn how when your body could release gases that could paralyze your family members. Raph vents his frustration by either releasing gas that Donnie can convert into fuel for the bus or by writing poetry. Not that he ever lets the others read it, but he does put that skill into writing song lyrics. While he keeps cool and collected he still loves a good brawl, and will happily spar with anyone (usually Casey). He just leaves a lot of the destruction to his younger sibling, unless someone in his fam gets hurt, then the gloves are off. Raph is fiercely protective and will square up if someone so much as looks at one of his siblings funny, especially Leo. His high emotions are often why he and Donnie argue. Raph's trumpet can cause phantom pains in the skull, though he rarely has to use it give it how potent his gases can be.

Mikey, the youngest, is a tiny terror and he not only knows this, he takes great pride in it. Mikey enjoys causing chaos for the sheer joy of it, and enjoys it the most when Raph will simply hurl him at opponents for him to latch onto. Over the years he's learned to climb very well with his four arms, going up trees and buildings with ease which can make him very hard to chase after. Despite his love for trouble, however, he can be just as sweet, though his desire to do good deeds for his love ones can be a bit misguided at times (no Mikey you can't just rob the ice cream stand stop). Unfortunately as long as it keeps hiding behind Raph when the consequences happen, it may take some time to grow up (not that it has any interest in doing so right now). Mikey's drums allow him to create intense vibrations in the ground, enough to topple some buildings.

One of the biggest things that makes me see Leo as trans is absolutely the size of his carapace in comparison to his brothers’.

And I’m not talking about height! I’m specifically looking at his shell here, because when you compare him to the others, particularly Donnie who is nearly the same height as Leo, it’s very clear that Leo’s carapace is much longer in proportion to the rest of his body.

Like - standing side by side, even though Donnie is shorter his carapace ends noticeably higher up than Leo’s does. And I like this not only because it really helps push the idea that Leo could very likely be trans (or intersex!), but it’s also just a fun design difference between them.

(It also lends way to future scenarios of Donnie eventually getting taller than Leo, but sitting down still has Leo being the taller one haha.)

In my AU I want to make a tribute to their VAs by making Cosmos Wreck-gar's mentor and Arcee Transmutate's mentor.

The interactions between the Weird Als are easy to imagine, but the interactions between the Susan Blus... Well, Earthspark Arcee isn't voiced by Susan Blu, so maybe that's why. But seriously, I'm having difficulty imagining Arcee Transmutate interactions that are not Arcee implementing all the bad parenting memes.
