It’s like uncovering a dream, that has been wrapped in veils... peeling them back one by one💫 . Tomorrow July 8, Art conservator & visionary artist @timeatallian is going to talk about the origins of the Mischtechnik and will introduce different variations used for instance by Ernst Fuchs, Rudolf Hausner, Mati Klarwein and Robert Venosa. The aim of this lecture is to explore the materials and techniques involved and to understand why the Mischtechnik has been used by Visionary artists in particular. She also points out various pitfalls and gives specialist advice how to avoid them. . Back to the initial darks on my practice panel that I painted in my charcoal drawing with to correct and refine the drawing before going back to the whites... sometimes it just all wants to get darker👾 and little glazes are inevitable... It has begun! What a magical and smooth first day💫 Grateful for everyone who decided to join us on this month long painting journey🎉 I’m excited for what we will discover as we explore new realms and challenge ourselves to expand and stretch our minds and hearts💓 . We began with a wonderful guided journey by @florencemenardartwork into the inner realms shedding skins of what does not serve us anymore and transforming that into a new skin that will support our authentic selves in becoming our fullest potentials. . We then dove into composition and the study of the natural world by drawing a still-life or self portrait in white and black charcoal on toned paper to deepen our observation skills. Alla Prima oil painting on panel. This little piece was created during my demo on painting directly in oil from reference during one of the last live sessions of #transformation2020🎨 . My head is spinning still from the amazing crew of international artists that joined myself @alecia_sacredheart @timeatallian @josephrobertmerritt @stefan.lucas.art and @academyofvisionaryart for the first month long deep dive experiment of facilitating an in depth workshop experience online. So many thanks to every person who showed up for this journey🙏❤️ . The closing last Saturday was a serious blast-off with special guests @allysongreycosm @alexgreycosm @romioshrestha and Sophie Shrestha to encourage and witness each participants work in their spaceship studios all over the world. . I am excited to continue developing these platforms to connect and am so grateful to the @visiontrain community for carrying the torch of a supportive virtual space to make art and inspire each other 🎉🎨💫 . Today I’ll be giving a talk as a part of #transformation2020🎨 on the ‘Business of Art’ as I have observed and experienced with 20 years of making art as my profession... There is no one formula, though when I look back there is a drive and a desire to explore and survive through the force that comes through my hands which has led me on countless adventures. I’ve landed down many dead-end streets and have discovered palaces of unimaginable wonder through this love of adventure and exploration. The path of an artist is one of great risk and great reward. . Art-Work and the Territory of Resistance Lecture by Joe Bob Merritt “In this presentation, I will describe the Territory of Resistance. I will draw a map that one may use to understand the Territory, its inhabitants, their origins, their qualities and functions in relation to Art-Work. With this map in hand, I trust that the artist’s ability to express aliveness will expand. My hope is that the artist will become freer to receive, perceive, and articulate ideas of value with greater clarity and affect. I will argue that the creation of an artifact is secondary to the primary aim of Art-Work. The primary aim is to develop artistry which is synonymous with aliveness. Little progress can be made towards this aim without transformation of resistance and certainly no transformation is possible if one can not see what resistance actually is. The Territory of Resistance is knowable. The knowledge of “it”... sets one free to art.” .
