I didn't expect you to come looking for me. We've always kinda knew our limits, so I chalked it up as that. Even after three days. Then seven. I should have been able to handle myself. It's what you'd expect from me.

By the third week, I started having this fantasy... You'd come bursting through the walls, berating me with that self-righteous attitude of yours. You'd refuse to shoot anyone even at your own expense. & mine. Then we'd be off on our next adventure, you & I riding off into the sunset. Like always. I so badly wanted our story to end that way. But this was no ending.

Six months. After six grueling months, I started to break. I know, I wouldn't have believed it myself, but that's when I broke. I screamed for you, your name reverberating off the walls & back. Not a speck of sunlight. It was so cold. I remember feeling this chill when my brain was being altered & my mind began to break. Your name is the last thing I remember saying before the darkness came.

Oh, Darling. It was your sunshine I had missed the most.

Two years later ~

✞ ⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯ He watched the family as they were escorted out of their home; the man in the front with the woman behind him, two little kids clutching onto her apron strings. Wolfwood had been ordered by Master to shoot if they stepped out of line. Even an inch astray & their lives would be gone, surrendered to the dust & the land that made up this God forsaken town. They were being emptied out one by one, driven from their homes & left with nowhere to go in the vast desert. Why? You didn't ask questions. You only do what you're told.

These people were compliant. The ones who tried to fight were already dead, gunned down like dogs as a reminder of what would happen if they stepped out of line. So far, it has been a quiet day. Until the woman tripped.

"Mamma!"

One of the kids, a boy, squatted down to match the woman's height. The other was left stunned & sobbing, feet frozen to the ground from fear. Just a baby.

"Mamma, you gotta get up!"

Foolish boy.

There is the sound of the Punisher's mechanics whirring & clicking into place as Wolfwood steadies the gun at his hip, pointed toward the mother & the two sons. The father steps out of line, rushing to their side in an attempt to shield his family.

"Please, don't!"

Wolfwood's finger lingers on the trigger.

Why can't he...

"Shoot them, Punisher!"

Another click & the massive gun is fired. No hesitation this time. No mercy. He's perfect dog.

He has to be doing something with his hands.#A decent amount of this scene is just Karen and Frank staring at each other and breathing.#And Matt's reaction to realising something is going on is VERY MATT.#I want (I need) Matt to question Frank on his *intentions* - so we get the parallel of that against his heartbeat conversation with Karen.#I think Matt could to get alot of stupid joy from having something to tease them both about.#I don't know how I expect him to actually feel about the possibility of whatever they have - but I think there are elements here that can b #fun and not serious and dark #I probably would have liked the flow of this season more if there had been framing around how Matt was working through his sh*t #Like each ep has a VO but it's just 20 secs of him talking to Karen's voicemail - keeping her updated. And she never responds but it's #just little thoughts he's had and things he'd say if she was actually there. And some of them are stupid or sarcastic but it's a ritual.#It's keeping him sane.#I read an article today about what they could do with these 3 in S2 and I don't know what to think. I want to have no expectations.#No expectations is safer. But I want more Kastle and as long as neither of them die I don't care how I get it.#(Just no more killing people I like. Writers you tried it. It wasn't great so don't do it again.)#Giffing in this lighting almost did my head in.

I know the decision to have Julian's parents have him augmented was made on the fly but imo its pretty obvious from early on that Julian has Family Issues because he avoids talking about his family like the plague and I think they should've incorporated this into the Julian and Sisko dynamic right from early on because I think it would've made for some really compelling stories and moments and could've set up a REALLY interesting Julian and Jake dynamic which they kinda started to do but never fully went for

#star trek: ds9 #julian bashir #benjamin sisko #jake sisko #s1 Julian being so young and eager to prove himself and latching onto Sisko as this mentor figure to look up to #seeing Sisko with Jake and low-key seeking that fatherly figure connection which he won't even let himself think about #Sisko seeing this young brilliant doctor who's got all the makings to be something great and he's just GOTTA help him along #I think he would also catch on pretty quick that Julian's got Parental Issues #he tries to ask one day all casual like 'tell me about yourself :)' and Julian talks about nothing but Starfleet and med school #any attempts to ask about his family are met with awkward brief answers and redirections #and then theres the way Julian's eyes light up the first time Sisko invites him to watch a baseball game #like he Knows. he's a dad he Knows somethings up #but he doesnt pry #I also think it makes their dynamic more tragic towards the end of the series #where we have Sisko asking Julian to compromise his morals again and again #Julian's trust and respect for him gradually deteriorating #and then at the end of course Sisko is gone and they have no idea when he'll be back #which I think Julian would have a lot of complicated feelings about #but of course theres also Jake #I imagine they'd get closer #very brotherly dynamic #you know that scene in TNG where Wesley goes to Riker for girl advice and Riker and Guinan start flirting?#absolutely happens but with Jake asking Julian for girl advice and Julian wooing a girl at Quark's and Jake absolutely loses the plot #makes the events of ...Nor the Battle to the Strong more intense as well I think #also I like to think there'd be an episode where the B plot is Jake gets mad at Sisko and impulsively decides to move out #ends up at Julian's because he did not think this through #Julian is now very much caught in the middle of this family drama and he Fucking Hates It #also him and Jake are NOT compatible roommates but he's trying so so hard to be nice #eventually they have a talk and Julian cryptically hints at his own home life and tells Jake he's lucky he has a dad who cares so much #them being closer would work into what Alone Together sets up for them

the star, moon, and sun as max, anne, and jack came to me in a holy vision and i'm still so pleased that i found images of them all sitting and oriented the same way. trio of all time

and that's it! i only did the major arcana bcs any more would've killed me lol. i think i finished the final versions in november, so it's been almost a full year and, despite the flaws i still see, i still really love this project!

#black sails #black sails tarot #the through line for the set was s1 silver as the fool (optimism and potential) to s4 silver as judgement (ultimately deciding flint's fate #(with a stop at lovers for love but also choices)#it's about the THEMES #i feel like i couldve done more with judgement but i had the vision of that scene in particular and this is what i came up with #the other through line is of course flint:#magician is all willpower and action and resourcefulness #to charles town as justice (not law but fairness; he tried to do it their way and they killed miranda. now it's the pirate way)#and ending up with thomas as the world: fulfillment and completion #mypersonalthings
