Wanted to try something but got bored. It looks really weird.

was deathly curious about how this managed to brick .flow, so i went ahead and tried to replicate it.

im assuming oop didnt change file name, nor file type, nor file color type; in my little experience, a rpg maker game project starts with limited paletes on sprite sheets. theres ways to circunvent this with different palettes, but never the full range on one file... to someone not aware of this, and this file being .png and not .bmp, it would mean that adding white to it would pose no issue, right?

(i just realized that after spending so long NOT playing .flow, i completely forgot the paths to the sugar hole. probably not the most intuitive, but im starting at music world for that in-between sewers/smiles house mini maze short cut)

no yea, bricked. blood puke and pus is fine, but throw a little starbucks original recipe secret ingredient and suddenly you cant have shit in doflowville.

restoring the file and trying it again with a color from the slime itself, still saving it as a png in current version ms paint, which doesnt really give me bitmap color options. crashes all the same.

its definitely my last hypothesis. it doesnt matter what you do to it, re-saving the file as just 'png' alters the type of png it is, but current day ms paint doesnt give you much of a choice. or rather, it gives you too much choice(freedom) by not limiting the colors to the pre-assigned palette.

decided to double check on rpg maker before moving on. indeed, it cant use the file, as it shows up as a black screen.

restoring charset again, and decide to try in a different program; how about windows xp paint? that one imposed the color limitations; it even had a special mode where if you were working in a 1bit bitmap, all the colors switched to dither patterns, instead. preddy neat! (man im old)

and... yep, theres your issue. an older ms paint exe respects the color limitations. Notice i have white selected, but what im coloring in is light green (also a full square with purple as a fill, to further drive the point home):

this particular map now throws no error, which should mean if we activate the slime, it will be properly defaced.....

luckily for us, this is one of the easier randomizers to active:

So you may or may not know I made this post. In responce to said post, some has asked me if I could maybe see if I can’t do some theorizing on the alternate costumes of other cookies. Most specifically Cream puff, Alchemist and Wizard.

Let’s start with Cream puff’s dark magic hat.

First things first, we obviously see there is a gem of darkness on her dress, which may confirm my suspicion that there are more than one of these.

Also when comparing the two versions, I can’t help but think that DMH Cream puff is an older Cream puff. I know the two have the exact same height, but Alchemist is herself an adult, yet she is rather small.

However, I’m not saying that DMH Cream puff is an adult. Maybe a teen. It’s hard to tell, really. But honestly...

Does this looks like the face of a child anymore ?

And now that I think of it, this change might be caused by the gems’ influence.

Yes. I said the gems.

Why ? Well, as I said, there is this one.

But the name of the costume is “dark magic hat”...

It doesn’t look like one, but it is another gem of Darkness.

Same colour palet. With just one additional hue for the one on the hat.

I don’t know why, and I don’t know how, but there being actually two gems might potencially make her more dangerous than the Sovereign of Darkness.

Plus, I feel like the Darkness isn’t forcefully possessing her... It forcefully suggests her things... Creating a false sense of free will in her mind...

One last thing however, which bothers me a bit. The costume’s description says that the witch added ripe blackberries to the dough, and she was born ?

Would this then mean that DMH Cream puff... is not the Cream puff we know ?? Like a Cream puff from an alternate universe maybe ???

I actually wish I’m wrong for that last part ???

Now, let’s see for Alchemist’s forbidden flask.

Now I’ll get this straight.

I first thought that white star shape in the flask was also a gem of Darkness, until I saw how the sprite is animated : it’s just some ominous flickering light emitted by the liquid.

According to the costume’s description, Alchemist might have found the witch’s grimoire, and therefore started to follow the dark formulas and recipes within it.

But I still wonder. Using the same logic with the “Dark magic hat”, this costume is the “forbidden flask“. So does this flask has something special, or not ?

That I unfortunatly can’t answer. But I’m pretty sure it does.

And since I saw someone mention it, (you can check the post I’m referencing here) I feel obliged to take notice of it too.

The motif on Alchemist’s tunic vaguely resembles the altar of the gems of Darkness. You know, this altar.

But while I agree there’s something similar with the two... it’s not similar enough for me. I don’t think it’s actually relevent.

But good point to the one who made that post I linked for noticing that ! I’m not saying she’s wrong, because for all I know, I could be wrong. I’m just trying to make sense out of things, because my mind just won’t shut the eff up sometimes.

(The duck is my rambling mind and Jerry using the clothespin is me writting this post.)

And that wraps it up for her, I didn’t have much...

So let’s see for Wizard’s azure flame staff.

Well, I don’t think I’ll be able to say much either... Let’s just get to the obvious, maybe ?

Following the same name patern for the costumes, the staff is the highlight and probably what started the corruption. But it doesn’t seem to have any link to Darkness. In fact, since we have a flame, it’s more or less the opposite of darkness. Doesn’t meant it’s much less of a threat, however.

And given the fact the flame has an eye, it’s likely that the staff is actually sentient. But was it created as it is or was it created to keep an entity inside ? Who knows. Whatever it is, it still influences it’s wielder.

And it seems like it has had a physical effect on Wizard. Notice how the out line of his hair is a light purple instead of grey.

He could be older than his original self, but maybe not. It’s even harder to tell with him than with Cream puff, since his face is almost completly obscured.

Looking at the costume’s description, it seems to go in the same direction I’m taking.

“The Azure Flame Staff promises dark and powerful magic [...]”

We do agree this is proof of sentience, right ? Also I think it implies that Wizard willingly choosed to take it.

“[...] if used too often, one may be consumed by its powers and lose themselves.”

Maybe the corruption from the staff can indeed physically affect the one using it ? Which would explain the hair ? How worse could Wizard get if he keeps using it ?

This is all I could gather... And it took much more time to do than it should have.

This... isn’t extraordinary... What is, is that you actually read this way too long post. But maybe you don’ t think much of it.

I just tried to make sense out of things. Doesn’t mean I succeded.
