So yeah, the girls shown here are fom left to right: Trigger (leader, often de-escalates conflicts within the group), Striker ("Yes boss" type of character, frequently seen by Trigger's side), Zwanzig (Older unit transferred from another facility. Not a fan of nicknames as you can see, so others just refer to her by her given designaton), Powder (Powder) and Barrel (Newest unit who is still getting adjusted to the cadre dynamics. She has a thing for Storch units).

Thing A Week 2025 - (Very Late) Week 8

What with the PhD situation (which! yooooo!!!), i've not been able to make any new art this week, so i figure i may as well finally join the trend and do some OCposting. These are both unfinished but whatever. This is the first and most recent time i drew my dnd character of 4 years:

so this is why i draw so many lions lmao. i drew that first pic and then had a solid 2 months of nothing but lions studies because i had never drawn one before

This is Taeonin and he sucks 🥰 yes that is a hooters uniform and he does canonically own one. blame my DM. he started as a haha funny meme and spiraled into a genuinely very depressing character if you accidentally think about him too hard. He was meant to be a joke 😭

He's a deeply sheltered "paladin" (zealot barbarian) who only has the position he does because he's an indoctrinated model minority propaganda piece who was taken as a ward very young and raised in the lap of the clergy (and is implied to be fucking the archbishop. is he in a position to be able to consent to that? who knows? who cares? not Taeonin!)

he is a leonin, who are a people from a country that was conquered by the Default Fantasy Catholics (DFC) around the time of his birth, and the DFC specifically raised him to prove that leonin could be taught 'real' language and religion and so on. that the lion could be tamed. he is excruciating tame, and has spent his life quite happily licking the metaphorical boots of the theocracy and recieving an incredibly easy life in exchange — so what is everyone else complaining about?

the empire cast him aside as a scapegoat the second he got dragged into trouble. he desperately wants to worm his way back into the warmth of god and fascism and imperialism, he's in a LOT of denial about the whole thing, and he has already betrayed the rest of the world so thoroughly and gleefully that he realistically has nowhere else to go. he doesn't want to go anywhere else. he's having a very bad time right now 🥰✨

-head canon voice: 

-Always keeps up hood, basically never takes it off. Will attack anyone who tries to take it down, and will avoid anyone who asks about it. Perpetual darkness from his hood, even shining a light in there will not get rid of the darkness. Soot/ash/small trails of smoke will come out of his hood as well.

-His head was cut off in his final battle with Frisk/Chara, but due to the amount of DT he somehow survived. His head got replaced by an ‘elemental’ head, of smoke, soot and DT. The head has little white flicks in it (dust) that make it look like space/stars. He can give himself multiple mouths and eyes in this smoke.

-Has soot and dust always coming off of the end of his scarf. His scarf belonged to his Paps, and the scarf appears to be possessed by Paps, or at least a malicious entity. The scarf will attack others, sometimes try to hurt Soot. But Soot for the most part is able to keep it in check. When fighting the scarf will mainly act as defense/cover for Soot, but will often strike if it ‘sees’ the opportunity to do so.

-His main eye that is always showing is always leaking, he’s not crying but his eye is stuck in a state in which it looks like it is.

-Doesn’t talk too much, doesn’t like to, would often prefer to sign to people rather than talk. The times he does talk his voice is very soft and quiet, his voice also seems to have an echo to it. It’s very easy to miss what he says.

-Went through too many resets when he was in his au, even hard resets. His mind got broken, him unable to distinguish whats real and not. Killed everyone in his au several times in hopes to beat his Frisk/Chara/Player. On the last run he even used DT from the true lab to stand a chance against them. 

Got control over the resets but was so scared to reset knowing all the DT/LV he’s worked to get will go, that Frisk/Chara/Player will gain control of the resets again, so decided to just not reset leaving him in his dead au. In which he was left going mad, hallucinating everyone but being so lonely that he didn’t care that they weren’t real, he’d interact with the delusions like they were. After about 2 years of this is when Omen (Nightmare) found Soot. Soot thinking that Omen was some messed up delusion of his thinking Omen looked similar to the DT so assumed his mind came up with a manifestation of the DT. But Omen was able to prove to him that he was real, which happened to trigger a DT flare. But Omen stuck by him. He’s not sure why Omen took him with him, but chooses not to question it, not able to comprehend being alone any longer. 

-Has max LV, but has killed enough to be more over it. As he didn’t just kill monsters that Frisk/Chara would have, he also went into the city (outside the games bounds) to kill monsters, trying to get anything he can to beat Frisk/Chara/Player.

-Has horrific DT flares. Often Omen (Nightmare) has to take Soot away from the others and take him to a dead au. Omen never leaves Soot there, and stays by Soot to try to help talk him through it, no matter how destructive Soot gets. As showing Soot isn’t alone is a way to help him through it.  

-Doesn’t really like fighting, but if a fight does start often kicks into autopilot and fights. Will often try to walk away from a fight if he can. Besides Cleaver (Horror) he’s the second least likely to attack/fight in Memento Cadre. 

-Will often fall asleep in the same rooms as Omen (Nightmare), since he tends to get horrific nightmares, Omen tends to do his best to help him manage them. 

-Will often try to hang out with Alloy (Killer) when he can. But tries not to be around Alloy’s cats, as he’s worried his scarf/Paps may hurt them. 

-Will often hold onto people if near enough to them, as comfort to himself, and also to reassure himself that they’re real and he can touch them. So is often seen being physically affectionate, even if he isn’t really big on it. This also includes grabbing onto people he doesn’t like too, just to see if they’re real.

-uses the phone trick, taking pictures/videos of things he feel may be hallucinations to see if they’re real. 

-shakes a lot, just has a perpetual shake, shakes like he’s cold, leading to one of the others often pressing into his side to try to warm him up, not understanding he isn’t actually cold. But Soot never says anything about it, since he’d prefer for someone to be close to him anyway. 

-Has a lot more mastery over his magic due to the DT/LV. His basic bones/gaster blasters/teleporting can be pushed past limits that Sanses can only dream of. Often ending most fights by the sheer insanity of his attack frequency and amount. Paired on with the scarf that has a mind of its own protecting him and attacking those that get close. And his head that cannot be attacked due to being an element that will just have things pass through it, but he can attack with his mouth, he's rather hard to get rid of.

One of the many things that facinates me about the Cadre is the potential within their inter-personal relationships. Now, admittedly I'm going to be getting into a Lot of my personal HCs about the Cadre's history and place as a part of Maeve's court, especially Vaughan since there is quite literally nothing about him except that he's a sea bird and is a master of not confronting the issue (U go girl, give us nothing to work with) so, this is not to be taken as just an interpertation of canon (though there will be some of that), but as my personal "what I wish we got."

Alright, with that disclaimer over, the Cadre is *old.* Canonically, Gavriel is it's oldest living member at about 600 years old, but by no means is he treated as it's founder. He was not the first bloodsworn, and as a fairly prominent character, especially in relation to Aedion who IS the founder of his own unit, the Bane, I feel it would have been mentionned or alluded to if that were the intention. So, the Cadre is old as BALLS. My guess is that they were formed during the first vlag conquest, and thus the original members of the Cadre would have been contemporaries of Brannon Galathynius and Athril.

My personal headcanon is that while Gavriel isn't a founding member of the Cadre, Vaughan is. Vaughan was there when the first oaths were sworn. He was the youngest of his cohort to swear, an abandonned child turned squire, and has served faithfully ever since. He served for centuries before Gavriel was even born. He's lived longer that any creature, even fae should, and his mind cracked under the pressure. He could not handle the weight of his own memories, and so his mind protected him. (Does the oath sustain him? Does it trap his soul in a body that can barely breath? Is his magical well just *that* deep?) He has raised and trained generations of bloodsworn, lived so long that their names, faces, deaths blur together.

And just like his own mentors, the original members of the cadre who first swore blood oaths to Maeve, he wasn't gentle. He didn't really know how to, even when he tried to be. And that was fine with adults, with men who had been chosen from the ranks of Maeve's army and guard, like Gavriel. But Lorcan wasn't an adult. He wasn't a blooded soldier when Maeve chose him, and put him in Vaughan's care. He was still a child, who'd never had stability, never had a safe haven, or a gentle guiding hand.

He got one of those from Vaughan, and it was stability, though he needed the other two just as desperately.

And it all got so much more complicated after Vaughan's mind started falling apart, and he started both forgetting how he treated Lorcan and basing his attitude towards Rowan (and Lorcan) on observations of how Gavriel taught. How Gavriel was gentle and patient with his teaching, while still staying firm. Lorcan resents Vaughn for the way he was, is glad he was different for Rowan, is grieving the loss of a man who took care of and understood him more than clean cut gavriel or noble-born Rowan ever could. Which comes right back around to resenting Vaughn for his "weakness" of mind and the precieved abandonnement, while being glad that vaughn can't remember the vulnerabilities Lorcan let him see when he was younger. And I think, Lorcan, deep deep down, envies Vaughn the capacity to just forget everything they've done and everything that's been done to them. Because Vaughn no longer wakes up screaming, and so many of his old triggers (triggers Lorcan once knew like the back of his hand) are just gone.

C'est difficile le boulot en ce moment. Pour l'instant, beaucoup de situations dépassent la simple rééducation du langage.

Grande demoiselle de 12 ans qui arrive épuisée un mercredi soir. La raison : on fête Saint Nicolas dans son école, et tout le monde sera obligé de s'asseoir sur ses genoux pour la photo. Elle trigger de devoir s'asseoir sur les genoux de ce gars costumé, elle n'en dort pas depuis le début de la semaine. Au lieu de faire de la compréhension à la lecture, on s'est entraînées à dire des phrases avec la voix franche et déterminée, pour refuser qu'on lui impose ce contact physique.

Je trouve ça dingue que des adultes en charge d'enfants et de jeunes adolescents soient si peu attentifs à leur consentement. A la fin de l'heure, elle était en mode warrior et comptait bien défendre sa position et celle des autres.

Petit bonhomme de 8 ans, très très sensible, très très tdah, subit du harcèlement depuis des semaines, refuse d'aller à l'école, notes en chute libre. Réponse de son instit : c'est des enfants, ils s'amusent. Du coup j'étais énervée. Soutenue par la directrice de l'école, du coup j'étais surénervée. Elles refusent également une partie des aménagements demandés parce que "c'est dans le programme". Du coup j'étais à un niveau d'énervement vreuuumeeeent

Bon du coup j'ai profité de cet énervement assez high level pour dire ma façon de penser et préciser aux gamins que si j'apprends encore qu'ils ennuient mon petit poulet, c'est moi qui viendrai décider de la sanction. On verra si ça change quelque chose mais cet enfant a besoin d'avoir des adultes de son côté.

Petite maman de deux enfants tdah de 4 et 8 ans. Le papa vient de faire un AVC, il a une hémiplégie et est hospitalisé depuis qqs semaines. Les beaux-parents donnent un coup de main et se mêlent de tout. Son boulot est difficile et a des horaires instables puisqu'elle est garde d'enfants malades. Le quotidien est un cauchemar à gérer. Le petit réagit très mal à ce changement de vie, le grand gère pas trop mal mais les difficultés scolaires s'intensifient notamment parce que les devoirs sont faits avec les grands parents, c'est moins cadrant. L'instit s'inquiète, appelle le psycho-medico-social lié à l'école, c'est une ergo qui vient voir au lieu de l'assistante sociale. Elle décide en l'ayant vu 30 minutes que le gamin serait mieux sur tablette et sans concertation avec l'équipe, elle lance les démarches. La maman se retrouve avec une vague supplémentaire de démarches administratives à faire pour officialiser l'utilisation d'une tablette à l'école, obtenir une aide financière et avancer les 1000 euros nécessaires. Elle se retrouve aussi avec l'obligation d'apprendre à son gamin l'utilisation de la tablette et donc mettre en route une prise en charge chez une ergothérapeute parce que quand c'est dans le cadre scolaire, tout doit être officialisé vu que ça entrera en compte dans la passation des épreuves certificatives. Le tout en moins d'une semaine parce que l'école insiste sur l'urgence de tout ça.

Coup de fil bien énervé au directeur de l'école pour lui demander des comptes et lui dire que prendre des décisions pour mon patient sans m'en parler, c'est non et ajouter une telle charge mentale sur cette maman, c'est non aussi. L'école n'est pas l'urgence en ce moment. L'école n'est jamais l'urgence, il faut dédramatiser les résultats scolaires et prioriser le bien-être, si la maman lâche maintenant c'est tout le bateau qui coule.

Petit loulou de 11 ans, famille séparée. La copine du papa est psy et dit que le gamin est autiste. Il n'est pas autiste, il a subi le décès de son papy, qui était une personne très importante pour lui, alors qu'il était en pleine émergence du langage, vers ses 2/3 ans. Je le sais bien, j'y étais. Il a développé un mutisme sélectif, on a réglé ça petit à petit et c'est devenu un moulin à paroles mais son non-langage de quelques années l'a rendu plutôt contemplatif, très attentif aux details et très capable de lire dans le non-verbal des gens. C'est suffisant pour que madame neuneu le prenne pour un autiste (d'autant qu'il a décidé de ne pas lui adresser la parole) et mette ses copines sur le coup pour affirmer son diagnostic qui ne tient à rien. En plus d'être dangereux pour sa santé mentale, c'est totalement anti-déontologique. Il n'est pas autiste, il n'a même pas un début de symptôme d'autisme. Du coup on est 8 ans plus tard et je vais faire passer un testing à mon petit poussin devenu grand pour prouver au monde entier et surtout à lui-même qu'il n'y a rien qui cloche chez lui.

Petite choupinette de 6 ans avec une agénésie du corps calleux, elle est passée par toutes les hypothèses depuis ses 3 ans. TSA d'abord, vite mis de côté grâce à la courbe de progression qu'elle a montrée lors des séances (elle est passée de jargonophasie à un langage normal en moins de 2 ans), tdah ensuite, mais je n'y crois pas une seule seconde. Puis dysphasie pragmatique. La pragmatique c'est cette branche du langage qui est suffisamment floue pour que beaucoup de professionnels lui tombent dessus. Ça fait 3 ans que je travaille avec, en collaboration avec sa psy. Elle a un profil HP et une angoisse liée à ce profil, c'est ce qui induit les comportements parfois bizarres qu'elle peut avoir, dans sa gestion propre de sa sensibilité et de ce qu'elle comprend du monde et des gens du haut de ses 6 ans. Mais des personnes qui la voient 20 minutes ont administrativement + de poids sur son diagnostic que sa psy et moi, qui la voyons depuis 3 ans.

Du coup on entame le parcours du combattant qui dit "Désolée madame la neuropediatre hyper reconnue, mais votre diagnostic n'est pas le bon"

Voilà voilà. Sinon ça va hein. Faut juste bien s'accrocher.

I think the reason Command Mission's ending is so bittersweet, and the ending song is so melancholic, is because X couldn't save Epsilon and his cadres, along with all the other reploids that die during the story. As the story went on and it became clear that Epsilon wasn't truely maverick, especially after the first Scarface fight, X probably felt guilty but still accepted taking down Epsilon as the right thing as their actions could've triggered hundreds if not thousands or more reploids to go maverick...

And then it turns out it was a set up all along. The friend he made and lost had only been using him and his strength to get the Supra-force metal and then went entirely maverick. Despite how angry he is in game, X was probably torn up inside by Redips' reveal even when finally killing him. Then, right after Ferham showed that she wanted to do good and help, she jumps off the platform with the rest of the metal so she can die with it. He runs up to try and grab her but it's too late. She caused them so much hassle and yet he still tried to save her once he realised what she was doing.

Even if it is a different timeline, so it's not that exact same X - he probably does want a world where people don't have to die in war. He doesn't want to kill people that can still atone for their crimes. Sure, he made many allies during the game but that doesn't take away from the fact that he couldn't save all of them. And that guilt is represented with the credits song having such a melancholic mood to it.

So, a few days ago I found this magnificent blorbo template and I KNEW I had to do it with Trigger's cadre. After all, they're all just a little awful in their own special way~ ❤✨😭 (Except Trigger, upon closer inspection, I realized Trigger is the glue holding this team together and thus, this template doesn't really apply to her. Idk if you know about Team Fortress 2, but Soldier's lines have so much Kasuar potential (at least their violent/unhinged side)

I never once played tf2 BUT I heard about soldier and after some reading he actually was one of the inspirations for that part of them. Mostly from memes, but eventually I just went to the wiki and bing bang boom EXACTLY what I'm looking for, except a bit bulkier. The unhinged patriotism is definitely something I'm happy with. ACTUALLY! I made this back when I was making the sheet of Eiche's unit (fun fact your art of Trigger's cadre actually was one of my references on how to make a good team) and well it's very crappy and very unfinished but here: You know the meme.

Ok, so I've had an idea for a small Lancer adventure, which came when I was thinking about campaigns that start above LL0 and the status of clones in the universe.

The basic idea is we have a facility, currently unnamed, operating with some very Seccomm views on Clone personhood. One of their main projects is trying to reliably produce mech pilots of above average skill quickly and reliably. Hidden on some out of the way moon or planet.

In to this comes _h0muncu1u5_, a H0RUS affiliated cell or individual (it's not clear) looking to take this place down quite messily.

And this is where the GM has a choice, because while it's only a single mission with three combats, there are two paths through it. Either the PCs are a DoJ strike team, tipped off by _h0muncu1u5_, or they're a cadre of clone pilots that _h0muncu1u5_ is helping stage a breakout

If they're DoJ, then they start at the surface, hot dropped out of a speeding dropship to break in and make their way down to the core of the facility.

If they're clones, then they start at the bottom, triggering their uprising, climbing up out of hell.

In this way I can turn three maps into 6, each slightly remixed by the order they're encountered.

If the GM wants to start a new campaign the Cline path is a good start, if they want to slot it in to a existing one as a one off LL2 adventure then being a hastily deputized DoJ team is a good path.

Spoiler-Free Review: Well, that was something! Sadly, I have to say that this isn’t in my top five books in this series. The plot is pretty straightforward even with the MacGuffin at the heart of said plot, and it just hasn’t got the same amount of depth or interest as the plots of previous books.

But what really makes this book is what’s going on with the characters, especially Elena and her having to confront the mortality of those nearest and dearest to her. Given the ten-year time-skip a lot of characters who used to be children are now grownups, and it was great getting to check in with them again to see how they were getting on with their lives. It was those moments with Elena, where she was coming to grips with their mortality, that were the best parts of this book.

Also interesting were the bits involving Vivek, the hunter who was made into a vampire at some point in the previous books in the hopes that it would cure his disabilities. This book links him with a brand-new character in the series, and I am looking forward to seeing their connection develop and progress in upcoming books.

Speaking of new characters, another one is introduced in this novel that adds a whole new spin to the history of angelkind, and answers some lingering questions about the Legion as well. I’m not sure where Singh is going to take this series after this book, but at the very least I know it’ll be somewhere interesting, all things considered.

Overall, this was a pretty fun read, though not for its main plot. Instead, the best parts were in the side plots involving Elena, whose reckoning with mortality and family is always a fascinating thread and gets really explored in this novel. Vivek also gets some time to shine, and it’ll be really interesting to see where his story goes. That being said, this book introduces a whole new angle to the long distant past of angelkind, and sets the stage for some very interesting happenings in the future, which I am definitely looking forward to.
