Here's my attempt at Cjplays' latest Sims 3 shell challenge! I went with a modern/industrial theme and I'm honestly really happy with how it turned out. I used no store content or CC, except the stencil remover mod which you don't need to have for lots where it was used on to appear correctly. It was challenging, but super fun! If you want to download it, here ya go! Just plop it in your library folder. Lot size: 20x20

Party Time!

Phew! I haven't done a juice keg since my uni days, but I've still got it!

I met Stella Striker in my first week working at the salon, and I had the pleasure of helping her pick out new swimwear. Tonight she invited me over for a house party! It was a nice break from the clubs. Intimate atmosphere, chance to meet new friends, good times.

One of the most exciting parts? Stella introduced me to Emmy Starr! I told her how obsessed I was with her style in I'm Dying, Lets Dance!, and she was impressed by my portfolio so far. I guess you could say I'm... Starr-struck!

Sorry for the lack of photos, friends. I was too busy living in the moment! So here's my tip for the week: Put that damn phone down and talk to some people! You have no clue who you might meet!

My rambling is below the cut...

When I opened my TS3 game for the first time in years, I started a new game. It didn't hold my interest though, and I hopped around a few different worlds and many new Sims. Eventually I dug through my old save games and found my one in Eltham's Drift. That particular save game really needed to be purged, but I used Porter to preserve the direct family tree line of my ten-generation legacy family and moved them to Glendalough. Eltham's Drift is my all-time favorite world, so I figured I would love another one by the same creator (neuroticrobotic).

I've been adding the lots and rabbitholes from EPs after the world's release, including the elixir shop, arboretum, and an observatory rabbithole rug for the decorative observatory already in the world. I'm finding room for my favorite old builds from Eltham's Drift—like Fiddleford House, where my legacy family is still living—and will be replacing/renovating other houses as I play. I'd like to build proper shells for the rabbitholes at some point, but community lots aren't my strength. I also made some new households to populate the town, and I'm keeping a spooky, supernatural theme—again, like Eltham's Drift. All that is to say that I'm very, very excited to play this game again.

Moonreach Hall is for my legacy family heir who's moving out of Fiddleford House. The interior will have a lot more CC and Store content before I'm done with it, so I decided to share this one unfurnished. Hope you enjoy.

remember how in ts3 you could set a door as 'npc' and go talk to your neighbors??

i've spent the past several hours trying to recreate that in ts4 for my save file. i tweaked the get to work alien portal until i finally figured out how to get a specific sim i created to spawn as an npc

now i need to work out

1) how to stop the interaction from running after the sim is summoned and on the lot. as it is right now, it'll just make endless clones of the same dude every time you click. which is only funny to a point

2) how to apply the noisy neighbor situations from City Living to the object for a bit more immersion

3) how to get a sim picker menu to pop up first, for multi-sim households

but i'm proud even of this little bit of progress! i feel like it's a nice touch to have sims always 'living' next to you, even if it's an empty house. and this way all my shell houses will be able to have custom homeless sims 'living' in them :)

My first building ever in the sims 3. During the process of building this shell, I realized just how much I miss building in TS4😭 TS3 builders, you guys are on another level. And here I was thinking I'd make a save file for an empty custom world, yeah right!

Venus Girdle REDONE: Fullbright

Yay, I fixed it! I hated the way the OG version came out, cuz I really wanted it to glow similar to how IRL Venus Girdles do.

Close enough! ^0^

Angler Fish FX Machine (LN EP REQ)

These things are frikkin frightening--y'all owe me for this, LOL.

I made TS4's Angler Fish a recolorable Late Night EP FX Machine so it could spit out bubbles, cuz ofc it should. Found under Party/Entertainment.

Fullbright: Neon Flock & Kelp Lights

I made Severinka's Neon Flock ACTUALLY neon, by making it glow with the Fullbright Shader, as well as making it recolorable. IDER what category it's in--use the Search mod like god intended.

The Kelp Outdoor Lights also have the Fullbright Shader.

EA Kraken as Decor

Includes 2 variations. Found under Lawn Ornaments (IIRC). This mesh is friggin huge, so you'll need a big enough lot to fit in on.

Hang 10 Seal as Decor

I took the Evil Seal mesh from EA's Surfing Station, and made it a Lawn Ornament. I added the retexture from @mspoodle1's Hang Ten mod. You'll need an OMSP with these.

Shell Wall Decor REDONE

I was NOT prepared for how huge & clunky the IP EP mesh was, omg. I reduced the scale, removed the USELESS square frame/border, and added an extra version with a Flipped mesh. Jfc, EA.

Pets EP Hay DR (Blue)

While playing with horses in Mermaidia I realized that their hay/straw was a garish yellow that made no sense underwater. So I decided to fix it. AFAIK this texture replacement only affects 2 items:

When Late Night was announced, I could have sworn that we would have modular pieces to decorate our buildings. Well, that's not what happened. But that's okay, because 13 years later, here I am fulfilling my childhood dream (and the dream of someone who never even dreamed of it)

Modularity gives builders the autonomy to build exactly what they want, how they want! Something that unfortunately the #Ts3 shells don't always provide. I'm excited as I modularize all of this!

Just Another Day in Paradise

As you may have noticed, these first few households don't necessarily have a ton of screenshots from this first round and that's because I spent a good chunk of my time furnishing out the beautiful community shells to add more things for my sims to do! I decided to make use of some of my store content and added a casino and speak easy above this bowling lane, but don't worry, the kiddos won't be able to access it! I roped it off so there's a bouncer who spawned wearing typical ts3 ridiculousness so I gave him along with the bartenders a new look. I'm especially proud of the bouncer though because I specifically dressed him to look a little like an old school mafia member. Hey! It is a gambling house after all!

After sending Garland to test it out I dropped back in on the home and found chaos! Tina was trying to cook breakfast in a soggy kitchen thanks to the broken sink. Garland tried to fix it, but soon got distracted and chose to call a professional to repair the leaky sink.

While everyone waited on the repair technician I took the opportunity to catch up on town news and peruse around. Oh gosh! It's only week two and there's already a protest at city hall!

Umm...Gena is dating Garland and Will is dating Melonie and of course they all live together as one happy family so what is up with this flirting?! Facepalm...I smell drama in the future...

Speaking of flirting...Sal has been in a relationship with Venus Aaron since the beginning of the playthrough, but he and Tina are awfully close...clear's throat...I'm honestly surprised no one has begun gossiping yet! They may be at the library to brush up on some skills, but I don't think that's the only thing on their minds.

While their partners flirted back home and Sal and Tina spent some stolen moments away from the roommates Melonie and Garland ran to the laundromat and checked out the small arcade/nerd shop I built next door. Melonie is OBSESSED with working out LOL! Anywhere that's got a tv will do I guess.

Will was invited to the Garrick household for a party so Gena nabbed the computer before anyone else got home. On a side note, just look at that apartment! EEEEEWWWW!! Apparently none of the Garrick household are very tidy when I'm not around!

As night fell the roommates all regrouped to try their luck at the casino and it turned out to be a VERY bad idea!

Will!! OMG!!! Okay, you are now banned from going to the casino!!! Oh gosh, I really hope Story Progression doesn't send him there every day I'm in other households now. That's not just your money you lost, it's everyone's!

Well Thank the Sim gods at least Sal didn't LOSE more money!

Oh great! Now everyone is getting sick! It's time to go HOME!

Heya joshttew! Thank you so much. Honestly, I wasn't planning to share them; it didn't cross my mind that others would want them so I didn't restrict myself when it came to adding CC and the like.

However, I'm happy to share some of them. I've used so much custom content on these lots, too much for me to track down. So you'll likely have to re-decorate. But here is some of the basic CC that will at least give you a nice shell to work with.

So, going along with the headcanon I have, there is this small town area, where the long term residents can have a taste of a non-military life, to an extent.

There's a shop, a pub, a large car park for visitors, a town hall where you'd get an award and the only area on the actual base where non-military people are allowed.

So, for example, if your were in the military and you were getting married or won a prestigious award, you and your loved ones could celebrate it in the hall and they could attend. You don't need special military clearance to come to this zone, but you will got stopped at security and you and your vehicle will be searched on the way in and the way out. You'd also be unwise to assume your every movement wasn't being watched by security cameras or personnel. 👀📷

The only residential lot in this area is the townhouses which you can see nestled alongside some hood decor (another idea I got from @teaaddictyt's video here! You really can tell I've been binge watching all her content! 😂 I did it to @anibats and now it's Tea's turn! 🥰😘) I haven't completed the townhouses yet as I literally made the shell before I got inspired to do another lot, but that is my task for today...after I figure out why my custom food is crashing my game!

On the south edge of the town area, is the entrance to the actual military 'Hush Hush' area of the base. That will be the next post, as that is where the recruits live/work along with the Counter Intelligence officers.

This is a small town square, inspired by the one from TS3's Sunset Valley, and as it's military, it's more of a ceremonial place to hangout. Despite the small military school opposite, it's not built for children, but rather and area where celebrations/parades might be held when military personnel win an award at the town hall building.
