Kana and her sister Akira are BR Class 800s!

They arrived in 2018 as part of a plan by the NWR to expand services going directly from Tidmouth to England. Akira is very boisterous , while Kana was very focused on her job, but after time came to appreciate the quieter things.

The same campaign also brought Riff and Jiff (BR Class 70s) to Sodor. They handle goods trains from Sodor to England. Farona and Frederico (Class 180s) were trialed, but due to their rude and reckless behavior were sent away.

Sandy is a new-built Wickham Trolley who is part of the NWR’s maintenance fleet. She is very close to Mildred, a road-rail excavator who serves as a stand-in for AEG Carly.

Bruno is a regular brake van. He doesn’t work with any particular engine.

And lastly Tess is a crane who came to Kirk Ronan Docks following a large expansion project in 2009. Her and Pug, the dock shunter, don’t get along at all.

Happy Birthday @trainsandkitties

Happy Birthday to my wonderful, beautiful friend @trainsandkitties today!

The beginning of this year was very trying for me, but this friend was an enormous support to get me through it. He truly deserves every bit of happiness as he is such a lovely person 💗

So for a birthday gift, I dressed up both our Edward's as Riff-raff and Magenta from one of his favourite movies: The Rocky Horror Picture Show. He gets the context!

TTTE Headcanons: Engines’ TV Habits — Skarloey Railway Edition

I really enjoyed making that post about what some engines on Sodor might like to watch on TV. Here’s one all about the SR!

Skarloey likes shows about space and space travel. When out of service in the early 1950s, he often had nothing to do except listen to the radio… which exposed him to the Space Race. It was a nice distraction, taking his mind literal worlds away. He developed a genuine interest and continues to tune into documentaries.

Rheneas sometimes watches meditation programs. After years of running his line alone, he struggles to relax. He can’t follow all the directions, being an engine, but it still helps him feel more present and shake off “crisis mode.” And the gentle music and voiceovers are soothing after a long, hard day’s work.

Peter Sam loves catching dreamy, technicolor Hollywood films when they air. The Wizard of Oz is a favorite, with the “no place like home” message resonating with him over the years. TV musicals and musical episodes are also a big hit with him. He enjoys the high energy of those shows and singing along with them.

Sir Handel watches sports, usually football. Or rather, his crew puts it on during breaks, and he complains about it being loud and stupid… but he always gets sucked in anyway and has a blast. He also watches the news so he can chat with Gordon about “the state of the world” on their connecting trains.

Duncan likes stand-up comedy — the more foul-mouthed, the more he laughs — and anything to do with rock n’ roll. If Top of the Pops features a rock artist, he watches and shimmies in place in the engine equivalent of head-banging. He loves getting caught up in guitar riffs and drumbeats that he feels in his frames.

Rusty tunes into home renovation shows. Being a maintenance diesel, they’re curious about the ways humans repair houses and buildings. They also watch shows like Too Cute. This is partly because cute animals are cute animals, but also because they love dragging Duncan along and watching him try not to melt over kittens and puppies. (His record is three minutes.)

Fred, as someone often on weedkiller duty, started to watch gardening shows for tips. He soon became interested in cultivation in general. Now he’s a regular viewer so he can better look after the line-side wildflowers and the station flowerbeds. He hopes to convince the Thin Controller to set up a community vegetable garden, too.

Ivo Hugh watches a lot of animated shows, particularly those to do with superheroes. Aside from enjoying the flashy action sequences and dramatic storylines, he appreciates their moral questions. They spark interesting conversations with the older engines around him. He comes away feeling like he knows himself better… and that none of the heroes on TV compare to the ones he talks to every day.

Duke has strait-laced habits: local news, talking heads, and the occasional program about railways. Or at least, that’s what he wants you to think. He secretly enjoys the show Jeeves and Wooster. He relates to Jeeves, a competent butler who fixes the messes that his well-meaning but barmy employer gets himself into. He would never admit this for fear of hurting His Grace’s feelings.

(He doesn’t know that Sir Robert also loves the show, finding it to lampoon the sort of pretentious, nasty aristocrats who call him improper and ridiculous.)

Now, no one can be quite sure if his origins, but it seems that he was brought on during a big project, and upon inquiry, was found that his old company fired him for not turning up to work!

So now he just stays there, he isn’t an actual employee technically but he does work and gets paid so I suppose he is!

Plus he’s the boss’s favorite

thinking about white-collar office worker au where all the sodor railway blokes are working their remote jobs doing business management for the railway companies and its The Most Office Job Environment Ever.

Henry is the idiot who's muted over zoom and doesn't know it until someone tells him he's muted and he can't figure out why. James and Thomas get a screen cap of him leaning in trying to figure it out and change their Webcam backgrounds so everyone thinks they're Henry all the time.

Edward is the human resources representative and he is so fucking overworked by these clowns.

Gordon is the floor administrator and is looking for ANY valid reason to fire James but James is so fucking good at marketing he can't in good conscience get rid of him.

Percy is the IT wizard who everyone assumes is a robot and sleeps in the office and can fix literally anything. No one knows how. It Just Works™️. Gordon struggling with his Webcam and Percy sneezes on it: fixed. Convinced he is just an AI.

Thomas is the temp worker who never left.

The skarloey and culdee fell railway representatives work on the floor below them and just have constant noise complaints.

Plus they all get cute button ups and ties.
