Tactical Breach Wizards: A Magical Experience | Video Game Review
I’ve been chasing that original X-Com high since the last time I played The War of the Chosen; with Tactical Breach Wizards I at long last found an excellent meal. While very different, Wizards partially nails the feeling of those games in that the combat encounters make for excellent puzzles. What’s more, this is the first game I’ve played in a long time that made me lose track of time; and…

Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era Gameplay Details

Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era prequel to the turn-based strategy games has sights on Linux and Mac, plus Windows PC. Thanks to the creative talents of developer Unfrozen. Working to find its way onto Steam Early Access this year. Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era is officially coming to Early Access later this year, and we’re not talking about just another spinoff or reboot. This is the next epic chapter in one of the most legendary turn-based strategy franchises of all time. And here’s the kicker – it’s being developed by Unfrozen, the mad geniuses behind Iratus: Lord of the Dead. Yep, the same folks who also brought undead tactics to life are now breathing fresh (and possibly necrotic) air into the world of Heroes. And native support is also coming.
In Early Access the game will only be released on Windows, it will be very difficult for us to support multiple builds in parallel. And the game in EA changes very often and a lot. But our first title, Iratus, was released on Linux, so we have experience and desire to port to both Linux and macOS after 1.0.
Yes, this update comes straight from the developers at Unfrozen — some great news for all of us. While there won’t be native Linux support during Early Access, don’t worry — Proton has us covered for now. You’ll still be able to jump in and play Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era without too much hassle. But the real win? The team at Unfrozen has confirmed their commitment to a full native port for the final release. That’s a big deal, and honestly, it’s just epic to see a studio still putting in the effort to support Linux players properly. This is definitely a step in the right direction for Steam Deck too.

And get this – Hooded Horse has teamed up with Ubisoft to publish this title. That’s right, the indie legends who’ve helped push hits like Terra Invicta and Manor Lords are now standing shoulder to shoulder with one of the biggest names in gaming history. If you’ve ever dreamed of seeing old-school approach mixed with modern polish and passion, this is the moment. Set on the long-mysterious continent of Jadame, Olden Era throws open the gates to a land only whispered about in past releases. Now, we finally get to explore its twisted biomes, command fresh factions, and meet creatures both terrifying and beautiful. It’s the same magic that made us fall in love with the Heroes series – but built from the ground up for today’s players. Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era has a full single-player campaign, of course – rich, non-linear, and brimming with lore and decisions that’ll shape the world itself. Or jump into endless procedurally generated maps, where no two battles are ever the same. Want to design your own world? The in-game map editor is super intuitive – craft your vision and share it with the world (or keep it as your secret battleground).
Multiplayer? Oh yes. You’ll get three fierce game modes:
Classic Mode – build castles, lead multiple heroes, explore the map like old times.
One-Hero Mode – your champion is your lifeline. Lose them, lose everything. High risk, high tension.
Arena Mode – skip the buildup and dive right into battle. Draft your hero, pick your troops, and fight to the bitter end.
Unfrozen’s CEO, Denis Fedorov, says it best: “We’re thrilled to work with Hooded Horse. Their love for deep strategy titles matches our passion – and with Ubisoft onboard, we’re aiming high.” And guess what? Over 600,000 people have already added Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era to their Steam wishlist. It’s ranked in the top 50 most wishlisted upcoming releases. This isn’t just hype – this is also a movement. So get into that Playest. Windows players will get first dibs with Early Access, but Linux and Mac versions are absolutely coming at full release (v1.0). So don’t worry – the strategic chaos is coming to your desktop too. Whether you’re a die-hard fan of the classic Heroes series or just someone who lives for deep, tactical games – this is one to watch. No microtransactions, no BS – just glorious, turn-based warfare. Mark your calendar. Rally your friends. And get ready to conquer Jadame. Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era turn-based strategy is calling – and it’s going to be epic.

Sometimes it takes time...
Sometimes it takes time... #GalacticCivilizations3
I apparently bought Galactic Civilizations 3 in November 2016. And yet, it took me until now to finally grasp how the game works and feel comfortable enough to play a game longer than the very first initial stage until pirates destroy all my ships anyway or another faction decides to declar war because I’m nothing but a small ant to them… Ironically enough, Galactic Civilizations 4 is just…
