"I think it's called...Clara"
Clara: You said memories become stories
when we forget them. Maybe some of
them become songs.
The Doctor: That would be nice.
Clara: Yeah. It would be, wouldn’t it?
______________
This piece is now available in my BRAND NEW InPRNT Shop!
refs and rambles below the cut
Well, I promised you guys a 12th Doctor piece, and I figured it should be something special. I couldn't stop thinking about Twelve losing his memories of Clara. Knowing that he's lost something, but unsure of what used to fill the space. I was particularly inspired by this quote
"When something goes missing, you can always recreate it by the hole it left. I know her name was Clara. I know we travelled together. I know that there was an Ice Warrior on a submarine and a mummy on the Orient Express. I know we sat together in the Cloisters and she told me something very important but I’ve no idea what she said. Or what she looked like. Or how she talked. Or laughed. There’s nothing there. Just nothing."
I think Twelve has dreams of a diner, a song, and memories of something he lost.
I created my own reference to use with Z Brush and a couple of free assets :)
For the face ref I used this screenshot from Hell Bent which felt fitting.
Shout out to @thatqueercookie and everyone from the server for inspiring me so much! <3

sometimes i ask myself who my favorite doctor is and i start listing them out:
well the 11th doctor was my first, so he has a special place in my heart
but the 12th doctor is poetry in motion
and then 9 is absolutely iconic
15 is really growing on me too
yet all those answers are wrong.
it is and always has been that cunty diva 6 with his cat pin and homocidal tendencies

One of the silliest tropes in Doctor Who showrunner discourse is when people project fandom infighting onto the showrunners themselves and assume Davies, Moffat, and Chibnall all hate each other and are sneak dissing each other in their writing. It just boils down to assuming writers they don't like must hate everything they like, and writers they do like must agree with them on everything and thus hate the same writers they do. In reality, the three of them are all friends and seem to be fans of each others work.

okay tv theory truman show truthers, signing off. we got it confirmed and we also Didn’t, which is actually the best possible solution to this whole conundrum. the show Doctor Who (at the very least, the stories 73 Yards and Pyramids of Mars) is now canon to the universe of Doctor Who, and that’s what’s important, really.
memories are a TV screen. television is a time machine. memories are a time machine and a time machine is a TV screen. and all of that — time, memory, media (lost media and rediscovered media. note the metatext about lost episodes of Doctor Who), love, magic — that’s all life. music and a spoon. an opera house. songs and stories. clara’s theme was all that remained of her memory (“clever boy”, says Mrs Flood!). when the universe dies, we are left with (hi)stories. stories, legends, are the collective memory of humanity — a time window through which to view life, all of life simultaneously as it happens in the past and future.
the Doctor is a God of Life. and he lives forever. and he loves forever. and the show goes on.
