sometimes me and my friend that also got badly fucked over by my ex will recall crazy shit that my ex did just to like, cope with humor about how absolutely unhinged they were/prob still are and how much mental strain it all was BUT OH MY GOD after our talk last week, I remembered how another glaring red flag should have been how ace/arophobic my ex was??? literally would rant and vent to me about how they don't belong in the queer community cause they don't face the same kind of oppression as "actually lgbt" people or whatever and like, whether the struggles they face are different or not, that's not a valid reason for them to be excluded? And you wouldn't be able to understand their struggles unless you experienced them urself anyway? I still feel kinda gross for going along with them when they would say shit like this, but as I've said before, disagreeing with them was always too risky for my own well-being. ANYWAY I KNOW I'M ACE NOW so thanks for helping me figure that out at least lmaooo

White Horse - Chapter 21: June 2024 - Part 2
Pairing: Max Verstappen x Isabelle Leclerc (Original Character)
Summary:
Max Verstappen is a World Champion. Isabelle Leclerc is invisible.
She watched her family give up everything for Charles’ career—Arthur’s karting, their father’s savings, even her childhood horse. She understood. She never asked for more.
But Max does. He notices the things no one else does, listens when no one else will, and puts her first in ways she never imagined. With him, she isn’t an afterthought—she’s a choice. And for the first time, she realizes she doesn’t have to be invisible.
Warnings and Notes:
we have now moved on from Charles bashing to bashing his whole family, Discussions of toxic past relationships, talk about loosing a childhood pet, toxic families, mention of the loss of a parent. Apparently I am once again messing up my chapter numbering on Tumblr. 21 is correct according to AO3 and Wattpad though. No, you didn't miss anything, I promise.
As always big thanks to @llirawolf , who listens to me ramble
Tumblr media
Meanwhile on Twitter:
@/F1GossipQueen: DID CHARLES JUST REALIZE MID-INTERVIEW THAT HE FORGOT HIS OWN SISTER’S BIRTHDAY??? HELP LMAO
@/monacosfinest: "Wait… we forgot." Nah, Charles, YOU forgot. The whole damn family forgot. How do you ALL forget???
@/f1tea:The way Charles’ whole face DROPPED when he put the dates together… This is cinema.
@/isabellesimpgc: This man just short-circuited ON CAMERA realizing he forgot his little sister’s birthday. I would be in hiding.
@/horsegirlupdates: ISABELLE WAS AT THE MONACO GP. SHE CELEBRATED WITH THEM. SHE SAID NOTHING. SHE JUST LET THEM ALL FORGET. I’M SICK.
@/f1trolls:Charles: "Do you have my phone? I need to fix this." Bro, there is no fixing this.
@/girlinthepaddock: The fact that Isabelle hasn’t posted ANYTHING since Monaco…
@/charlesleclercfans:Charles, buddy, you’re not getting out of this one 💀
@/f1chaos:Charles really went from “living his childhood dream” to “realizing he was the worst brother in real-time” in under five seconds. Iconic.
@/monacoprincess:The way he literally STOPPED TALKING, STARED INTO THE VOID, and then went, "Wait… we forgot." BRO. YOU FORGOT. YOU.
@/paddockgirlies:Isabelle spent her whole life supporting her brothers and they couldn’t even remember her birthday??? She didn’t even TELL them they forgot, she just let them be happy while she suffered in silence. I’M SICK.
@/girlwhocriessports: Okay but imagine being Charles and realizing ON LIVE TV that you forgot your sister’s birthday while the entire world watches. This is worse than any DNF he’s ever had.
@/ferrariwoes: Charles, in Monaco: "This is the best day of my life!"Charles, two weeks later in Canada: "Oh my god, I forgot my sister’s birthday."
@/isabellesimp: She just kept quiet and let them all forget. She didn’t even correct them. She probably just went home alone and cried. Do you understand how HEARTBREAKING that is????
@/paddockinsider: Ferrari’s biggest strategy blunder this year wasn’t even on the track—it was the entire Leclerc family forgetting Isabelle’s birthday.
@/F1TeaSpiller: Not Charles Leclerc realizing DURING AN INTERVIEW that he forgot his own sister’s birthday… and then Arthur and Lorenzo probably finding out THROUGH HIM. This family is actually unbelievable.
🔗 Clip attached
@/GridGossip:So let me get this straight:
Isabelle was in Monaco the entire weekend.
She celebrated Charles’ win with him.
She didn’t say a word about her own birthday.
And not a single one of her brothers remembered.
They really just treat her like she doesn’t exist, huh?
@/TifosiDrama:Not a single post. Not a single mention. She was right there, and they STILL forgot. I don’t blame her for ignoring them now.
@/OversteerObsessed: So you’re telling me Isabelle’s birthday was on the same day as Charles winning Monaco for the first time ever, and they were so caught up in the win that they just… forgot about her?? I’m actually speechless.
@/FormulaShady: The Leclerc brothers are about to have the worst sibling PR disaster in F1 history. Isabelle is LITERALLY the forgotten Leclerc.
@/WheelyFastWAGs: Isabelle spent years supporting her brothers—showing up to races whenever she could, celebrating their successes—and they can’t even remember her BIRTHDAY?!
@/TyreDegAndDrama: No, but let’s really sit with this: she was literally there. Not far away. Not off somewhere else. She was in Monaco, with them, and not one person thought, “Oh hey, it’s Isabelle’s birthday.”
@/OvercutOverload: Charles’ brain loading like an old Windows XP computer when the journalist asked about winning on his sister’s birthday.
@/Lap1Carnage: I need you all to understand how humiliating this is. You are a public figure. You win Monaco. A journalist gives you the perfect setup to say something nice about your sister. And instead, you find out ON LIVE TV that you forgot her birthday.
@/TifosiTears: I would like to formally apologize to Isabelle for ever associating her with the rest of them. She deserved better.
@/ChaosMode: The fact that fans remembered her birthday but her own brothers didn’t… Yeah, I’d be ignoring them too.
@/PaddockClownery: Imagine your family finally realizing they forgot your birthday WEEKS LATER because a journalist had to remind them. The bar is in hell.
@/F1BurnerAccount: The way he didn’t even tried to play it off like “Oh yeah, we celebrated privately” or something. Just full, raw realization on live TV.
@/F1Shambles: The fact that Isabelle has been radio silent on social media ever since Charles’ Monaco win is crazy. Not a single like, comment, or post. Just pure, calculated silence.
@/F1Shambles: The worst part? She did congratulate Charles. She literally posted on her story, “So proud of you, Charles!” right after the race, and then? Poof. She disappeared.
@/TifosiTears: No, because the fact that Isabelle still took the time to post a congrats for Charles, even after they forgot her birthday, and then just vanished is so much worse.
@/Lap1Carnage: So you’re telling me she remembered her brother’s biggest moment, but not a single one of them remembered her birthday? Yeah, no, that’s insane.
@/PaddockDrama: She posted for Charles, probably waited the whole day for someone to remember, and then dipped. That’s actually heartbreaking.
@/FrontWingDamage: Okay, but like… does anyone know if she had people around her that day? Like, friends? A boyfriend? Someone who did remember?
@/TyreDegAndDrama: I need to believe that someone in her life actually gave her the love she deserved that day, because if she spent it completely alone while celebrating Charles?? I will LOSE IT.
@/LightsOutDrama: It’s actually insane that her whole family was busy celebrating Charles, and not one of them was like, “Oh wait, isn’t today also Isabelle’s birthday?”
@/PaddockGossip: At this point, I’m praying she has some secret friend group or a boyfriend who treated her like a queen that day, because her family really did nothing.
@/ChaosMode: We need a national investigation into Isabelle Leclerc’s inner circle. I refuse to believe that nobody took care of her that day.
@/WDCworthy: What if she’s actually in a happy, secret relationship and her boyfriend was the only one who celebrated her? Imagine the plot twist.
@/PaddockMess: I swear if she had to spend her birthday alone, while her whole family was out celebrating Charles, I’m gonna start swinging.
@/OvercutOverload: The fact that she stayed silent instead of calling them out makes it so much worse. She didn’t even fight them on it. She just… left.
@/TyreWhisperer: This whole thing is giving “quietly heartbroken but won’t let it show” energy, and I hate it here.
@/PaddockBanter: Honestly, I don’t even need her to forgive them. I just want her to be happy with people who actually appreciate her.
@/LightsOutSlander: Praying she has a secret billionaire boyfriend who flies her around on private jets and showers her in designer gifts, because her family clearly isn’t doing their job.
@/PaddockRoyalty: This woman is literally giving “soft-spoken princess energy.” I need her to have a rich, older boyfriend who treats her like absolute royalty.
@/IsabelleLeclercFanclub: Forget the Leclerc brothers. We’re officially in our Protect Isabelle at All Costs era.

Text Messages: Belle Verstappen & Charles Leclerc
Charles: I just realised. I just—I can’t believe I forgot. Your birthday. Monaco. You were there. And we didn’t say a word. I didn’t say a word.
Charles:You smiled at me. You waved. And I didn’t even remember it was your day. I’m so, so sorry.
Charles: Please call me. Please. I need to talk to you.
Charles: I didn’t mean to forget. I swear. I didn’t— God, Isabelle. Please just pick up.
[Incoming Call: Charles Leclerc → Belle Verstappen] Status: No answer. Call forwarded to voicemail.
Charles (Voicemail): Isabelle, it’s me. Please pick up. I know I don’t deserve that right now but I… I need to hear your voice. I need to know you’re okay. We messed up. I messed up. I forgot the one day I shouldn’t have. And I didn’t even notice. I don’t know how I let that happen. I love you. Please… just call me back. Please.

Text Messages: Emilie Abadie & Max Verstappen
Emilie: He finally realized. Charles. The birthday. Belle. It hit him. Live. On camera. Mid-interview. It was honestly Oscar-worthy.
Max: wait what
Max: CHARLES REALISED??
Emilie:  Karun Chandhok brought it up during the post-race interview and you could see the panic download into his brain in real time. I watched it happen. It was magnificent.
Max:Since when are you watching press conferences?? You once told me F1 was “cars doing ring-around-the-rosy with ego problems.”
Emilie: I still stand by that! But I had a feeling someone was going to slip. And I was right.
Max: Belle hasn’t texted me yet.
Emilie: Same. I tried calling. Went straight to voicemail. I’m going over. She might not answer the door but I’m staying the night either way.
Max: Thank you. Really
Emilie: She’s my best friend. You think I’d leave her to spiral alone while the entire Leclerc clan is just now realizing they’ve been garbage?
Max: I’m so pissed, Emilie. They made her feel invisible. And now they’re shocked she walked away?
Emilie: They don’t get to play the concerned family card after a year of not seeing her. After missing her birthday.
Max: She was right there. In the garage. She waved at Charles.
Emilie: And he smiled right through her. I’ve never wanted to throw an expensive shoe at someone more.
Max: you should’ve I would’ve paid the fine
Emilie: Consider it noted for next time.
Max: Let me know when you’re with her Tell her I love her Tell her I am coming straight home.
Emilie: I’ll tell her.

The sun had dipped low behind the Monaco rooftops, casting the living room in honeyed gold. The windows were cracked open, letting in the hum of the sea and the occasional passing scooter. The only sound inside the apartment was the faint, rhythmic purr of cats.
Belle was asleep on the couch, curled sideways with a throw blanket tangled around her legs. One of Max’s hoodies was pulled over her tank top, far too big on her and smelling faintly of motor oil and cedarwood. Sassy was curled on her feet, Lilly sprawled along her hip like a guard, and Jimmy had claimed the pillow beside her head, face pressed dramatically into her hair like he paid rent.
She hadn’t meant to fall asleep. She’d only meant to rest her eyes.
But the last few days had caught up with her: the tension, the silence, the weight of being both forgotten and known too well.
The buzz of the apartment buzzer stirred her cats but not her. Only when Emilie let herself in—quietly, using the key Belle had given her months ago—did Sassy finally stretch and jump down, tail flicking as if to say you’re late.
Emilie padded through the flat on socked feet, arms full of a canvas tote bag stuffed with snacks, a fuzzy blanket she’d stolen from Belle’s apartment once and never returned, and a bottle of overpriced juice she insisted helped with “emotional hydration.”
She spotted Belle still asleep, cats half-glued to her like warm, fuzzy armor, and her heart cracked open.
Of course Belle had fallen asleep like this. Of course she hadn’t answered her phone.
Emilie set the tote on the coffee table and sank to her knees beside the couch, brushing a strand of hair from Belle’s face.
“Hey,” she said softly. “Sleeping Beauty.”
Belle blinked slowly. Her voice, when it came, was husky and quiet.
“Mm. What time is it?”
“Almost eight.” Emilie smiled gently. “You missed Max’s win.”
Belle sat up slowly, rubbing her eyes as Lilly gave a sleepy grumble and re-settled herself in her lap.
“He won?”
Emilie nodded. “Dominated. It was very on-brand. I texted him back for you. Said congrats and that you were passed out under a pile of cats.”
Belle huffed a breath of a laugh. “Thanks.”
“He asked if you were okay.”
“I’m…” Belle paused. “Better, now.”
Emilie hesitated, then sat down beside her fully, the cushions dipping slightly. “Charles realised.”
Belle’s body stilled.
“During the post-race interview. Karun Chandhok mentioned Monaco. Said something about your birthday being the same day as his win. And you could see it—click. Like his brain got punched in the face.” Emilie’s voice was flat. “He didn’t realise, Belle. Not until someone reminded him you exist.”
Belle exhaled slowly, hands curled in the fabric of the hoodie. “And now he’s spiraling?”
“Of course. Called you. Texted you. Voicemails. I think Arthur’s panicking too. Pascale’s probably mid-emotional breakdown.”
Belle looked over, finally meeting her best friend’s eyes. “You’re watching press conferences now?”
Emilie shrugged, suddenly sheepish. “Lando made a joke on Twitch last week that press media days are ‘elite chaos.’ I got curious. Stayed for the spectacle. Didn’t expect it to turn into a soap opera starring your brother.”
Belle blinked. Then grinned—softly, genuinely—for the first time in days. “You’re watching F1 now because of Lando Norris?”
Emilie lifted her chin. “It’s not serious. It’s anthropological.”
Belle laughed, the sound cracking slightly at the edges, but real.
“I’m also staying here tonight,” Emilie added, pulling a blanket from the tote and draping it over them both. “Because I love you. And because Max will kill me if I leave you alone.”
Belle rested her head against Emilie’s shoulder, voice small. “You don’t have to fix it.”
“I’m not here to fix it,” Emilie murmured. “I’m here so you don’t have to carry it by yourself.”
Belle closed her eyes again.
The texts from Charles buzzed softly on the coffee table. She didn’t reach for them. She didn’t need to.
Not tonight.
She had Emilie. She had Max. She had a stuffed lion upstairs and cats who loved her without question. And when she was ready—on her terms—she would decide if the rest of them deserved her again.
But for now?
She ignored the buzzing.
And let herself be held.

Carlos: He needed the right trigger (also I am still mad)
Lewis:  He was fully smiling at first Then hit the mental brick wall of oh no
George Russell: The smile-drop was cinematic. Mightve been the most emotional acting we’ve seen all season.
Alex: Does anyone have the clip? For science?
Nico H.: I have it bookmarked.
Sebastian: He really didn’t realise until that exact moment? Not even a whisper before?
Zhou: I still can’t believe it took someone else saying her name for him to remember she has a birthday.
Logan: No, no, let’s all take a moment: He had an entire win In Monaco In front of his family And forgot his sister’s birthday
Oscar: SHE WAVED AT HIM.
Carlos: IN THE GARAGE IN FERRARI RED

George: True.
Lewis Hamilton: Justice for Belle.

Kimi: Took him long enough.

Lorenzo stood at the foot of Isabelle’s old apartment building, staring up at the cream-colored stone façade like it might blink back at him. The shutters were open on the third floor—her floor—but nothing inside looked familiar. No string lights. No potted herbs on the windowsill. No pale curtains drifting in the breeze the way they used to when she’d leave the balcony door cracked open for the sea air.
He buzzed the door anyway.
Once. Then again.
No response.
The hallway was quieter than he remembered. Less lived-in. The echoes of memory were louder than the footsteps on the stairs as he climbed, more out of muscle memory than belief. He reached her old door and knocked.
No answer.
He stood there, unsure of what to do. His hands itched to call someone—Charles, Pascale, anyone—but that wouldn’t fix this. Not yet.
Then the door across the hall creaked open.
“Looking for Isabelle?” a warm, vaguely amused voice asked.
Lorenzo turned. An older woman stood in the doorway, wearing a robe and holding a mug of tea. Madame Fortier. He remembered her vaguely—Belle used to bring her pastries sometimes when she baked too much.
“Yes,” he said, suddenly unsure of his voice. “Is she home?”
The woman smiled, kind but surprised.
“Darling, she moved out almost a year ago.”
Lorenzo froze.
“What?”
Madame Fortier nodded. “Lovely girl. Packed everything very neatly. She left a plant on my windowsill as a thank-you.”
A beat passed. Lorenzo’s pulse ticked strangely in his throat.
“Where did she go?” he asked, trying to keep his voice steady.
The woman sipped her tea, then tilted her head thoughtfully.
“Oh, she moved in with her boyfriend,” Madame Fortier said, smiling warmly. “Lovely man. Very polite. Treated her well, from what I saw. Always held the door. Picked her up in that fancy little car. She seemed happy.”
Lorenzo’s stomach dropped.
Moved in with her boyfriend.
And none of them knew.
“Right,” he said, the word catching slightly in his throat. “Thank you.”
He walked back down the hallway slowly, like his legs were moving through water.
Outside again, the sunlight felt harsher than it had minutes ago.
Belle had always been the quiet one. The background Leclerc. Never the loudest voice at the table, never the one asking for attention. But she'd been the glue. The calm. The one who remembered birthdays. Who showed up at Arthur’s karting meets with water bottles and quiet encouragement.
Who texted Lorenzo before his exams just to say you’ve got this.
And she hadn’t told them.
Not about the move.
Not about the boyfriend.
Not about… any of it.
It wasn’t just out of character. It was completely, utterly un-Belle.
She didn’t let people she loved run into walls like this. She didn’t let them go blind into guilt and panic. Unless—
Unless she’d stopped expecting them to see her at all.
Lorenzo felt that thought like a punch to the chest.
Had they really made her feel that invisible?
And someone else—some quiet, polite boyfriend in a fancy car—had known her better than any of them did.

Leclerc Family Group Chat
(Members: Arthur, Isabelle, Charles, Pascale)
Lorenzo: Update. She doesn’t live at her old apartment anymore.
Arthur: what?
Pascale: What do you mean she doesn’t live there anymore??
Charles: Lorenzo please tell me that’s not what it sounds like
Lorenzo: Her neighbor says she moved out. Almost a year ago. Moved in with her boyfriend.
Arthur: SHE HAS A WHAT
Charles: SHE HAS A BOYFRIEND??
Pascale: Since when?! She never said anything! She never brought anyone to dinner—did you meet him??
Lorenzo: No. None of us did, clearly.
Arthur: what if he’s the reason she’s not answering what if something happened
Charles: don’t say that don’t even think that she’s just mad at us right?
Arthur:  no but— think about it she hasn’t answered in two weeks. she didn’t say a word about moving. not a single thing about this guy. what if she’s not okay?
Pascale: She would’ve told us. She always told us if she was scared. Or uncomfortable.
Lorenzo: Not if she doesn’t trust us anymore. Not if she thinks we stopped listening.
Charles: no. no. no no no. I saw her in the garage. She smiled. She waved.
Arthur: people smile when they’re drowning, Charles
Pascale: I’m calling her again. Right now.
Charles: Already did. Straight to voicemail. I’ve texted. I’ve DMed. Nothing.
Arthur: what if something happened
Lorenzo: We don’t know that. Don’t spiral. But we do need to find her.
Charles: I can ask someone at Ferrari. Maybe they know where she’s been.
Pascale: No. No more waiting for her to come to us. We go to her.
Arthur: but we don’t know where she is
Charles: She has a boyfriend we didn’t even know about She moved out a year ago She’s not answering She’s not talking to any of us
Lorenzo: Then we find someone who has seen her recently.
Charles: Who? Because it’s clearly not us.
***
Charles sat by the window, motionless. The clouds blurred past beneath them, soft and ghostlike, but he didn’t see any of it. His phone rested in his hand, screen black, battery threatening to die with a solemn 9% glaring up at him. He hadn’t put it down since they’d left the tarmac.
No new messages. No calls. No Belle.
He’d left voicemail after voicemail. Texts that felt like fragments of apology and panic, all swallowed into silence.
Across the aisle, Nicolas Todt had his laptop open and his phone pressed to his ear, murmuring in rapid-fire French. Every few minutes, he would pause, pinch the bridge of his nose, and mutter something like “catastrophe” or “this is a PR disaster.”
Which, to be fair, it was.
“No, non, it wasn’t intentional,” Nicolas said sharply into the phone. “Yes, we’re working on a statement. No, she hasn’t responded.”
Belle’s name had been trending since the post-race interview. Not because she’d done anything. But because Charles had forgotten her. On her birthday. In Monaco. While she stood right there in the garage, smiling like she didn’t want to be seen and knowing no one had remembered.
Charles swallowed the lump rising in his throat.
Across the cabin, Arthur sat slumped beside Alexandra. His arms were crossed tightly, mouth drawn into a hard line. He hadn’t said much since boarding. But his silence didn’t feel defensive. It felt heavy. Like guilt.
Alexandra was the only one not pretending to be calm.
“You forgot her birthday,” she said. Again. Quietly, but without softening the blow.
“I know,” Charles rasped, eyes fixed on nothing.
“No,” she said sharply, “you don’t. You forgot, Charles. All of you did. She was there. In the garage. And no one even looked at her properly.”
Arthur flinched beside her, but didn’t respond.
From the aisle, Joris Trouche—normally calm, endlessly competent, the kind of man who could manage a logistics meltdown without raising his voice—was pacing with thinly veiled fury. He’d tried sitting down twice. Failed both times.
And now, he stopped in front of them, tone clipped. Controlled. But barely.
“I’ve known Isabelle since she was thirteen,” Joris said, staring them down. “She sent me homemade cinnamon cookies when I was stuck in the hospital with a stress fracture. She used to ask how my mum was doing.”
He turned to Charles. “And you—she waved at you in Monaco. On her birthday. And you smiled like she was anyone.”
Charles opened his mouth, but nothing came out.
Joris’s voice wavered—angry, but undercut by something else. Something personal.
“I’m angry at you,” he said quietly. “But I’m angry at myself too. I should’ve remembered.”
In the front cabin, Joris was pacing. He’d been quiet since takeoff, but now his temper was burning through the thin layer of professionalism that usually cloaked him like armor.
“I should’ve remembered,” Joris said suddenly, sharply. “I should have reminded you. I always remind you. And I—I forgot too.”
Arthur stirred. “We didn’t mean to hurt her.”
Joris snapped his gaze toward him. “You don’t have to mean it. You did it anyway. You only noticed her absence when it became public embarrassment. That’s not love, that’s damage control.”
Nicolas finally ended his call and shut the laptop with a soft but definitive click. “If anyone has a prayer of salvaging this, it’s not through spin,” he said. “It’s through action. Apologies. Honesty. Real words. Not just statements.”
Charles didn’t answer. Couldn’t.
Because Belle hadn’t responded to a single one of his messages. She hadn’t returned his call. She hadn’t even opened them.
And she always used to answer. Even when she was mad. Even when he didn’t deserve it.
He stared out at the clouds, jaw clenched, fists curled against his thighs.
He’d won in Monaco.
And lost the only sister he’d ever had.

Charles: You KNEW?! You KNEW and you didn’t tell me?? You remembered her birthday and let me humiliate myself in front of the world?!
Carlos: She told me not to say anything because she didn’t want pity cupcakes. Her words.  She asked for one thing. I respected that.
Charles: SHE’S MY SISTER.
Carlos: Then maybe you should have treated her like that.
Oscar: Charles. Stop.
Charles: No, Oscar, he LET me forget!
Oscar: No. You forgot. YOU. He just respected her boundaries. She didn’t want a spotlight apology. She wanted to be seen before she disappeared. And none of you did.
Oscar: Belle asked Carlos not to tell you. Because she knew you’d make it about yourself.
Charles: Excuse me??
Oscar: YOU forgot her birthday. You smiled right through her in Monaco. You didn’t notice she moved out. You didn’t notice she disappeared. And now you’re mad at Carlos for respecting her boundaries?
Charles: I have a right to be upset!
Oscar: Belle has a right to protect herself. You’re upset because you’re losing control. She’s not missing, Charles. She’s finally choosing herself. And you can’t stand that it wasn’t you who got to decide when or how.
Lando: ...wow
Daniel: Oscar just cleared the entire grid.
George: No survivors.
Charles: Wait. Wait—how do you ALL know where she is?
Charles: Wait. WHAT ARE YOU NOT TELLING ME
Pierre: wait why does this chat feel like everyone’s in on something except me
Lando: She’s fine. She’s not alone. She’s safe. That’s all that matters.
Charles: HOW DO YOU KNOW THAT??
Oscar: Because she’s home.
Charles: What does that mean??
George: ...not our story to tell
Carlos: Exactly.
Yuki: What is happening. I feel like I skipped an episode.
Lando: Welcome to Drive to Survive: Emotional Damage Edition.
Oscar: Charles, stop texting. Start listening.
Charles: I need to fix it.
Carlos: Then don’t make this about you.
Lewis: And maybe… for once… Try earning your sister’s forgiveness instead of assuming you’re entitled to it.
Daniel: All I’m gonna say is… maybe next time don’t wait until post-race interviews to remember the people standing in your corner.
Lewis: And maybe sit with this one for a while before demanding answers.  Sometimes silence is the only language people have left.
Charles: … I just want to fix it.
Oscar: Then stop trying to own her pain. And start listening.

Group Chat: HELP ME
(Members: Daniel Ricciardo, Lando Norris, Oscar Piastri, Lewis Hamilton, Carlos Sainz Jr., George Russell, Alex Albon, Nico Hulkenberg, Nico Rosberg, Sebastian Vettel, Mark Webber, David Coulthard, Sergio Pérez, Fernando Alonso, Kimi Räikkönen, Zhou Guanyu, Logan Sergeant, Esteban Ocon and Lance Stroll)
Oscar: I might’ve gone too hard. But also I really don’t think I did.
Lewis: Nope. You didn’t. You said what needed to be said.
Carlos: I’ve been biting my tongue for two weeks. Thank you for saying it out loud.
George: You cleared him so thoroughly I think I need to book you for emotional landscaping.
Lando: You had him pacing like a dad who just realized he missed Parent-Teacher Night. It was glorious.
Daniel: Honestly? That was better than Spa 2021. You lapped him emotionally.
Alex: Did you see Pierre and Yuki’s confusion??  They looked like they opened Netflix halfway through season 3.
Oscar: They’re still trying to figure out why we all suddenly act like Max Verstappen is Belle’s guard dog husband.
Zhou: Wait. Should we add Pierre and Yuki to this chat? Like a prep class before the meltdown?
Logan: Absolutely not. They’ll trigger Charles into another “WHERE IS MY SISTER??” monologue and I’m emotionally out of snacks.
Esteban: Pierre would tell Charles.
Mark: Back to the point—Oscar, you did good. He needed the mirror held up. Guilt isn’t the same as accountability.
David: And accountability isn’t the same as entitlement. He forgot that. You reminded him.
Sebastian: You all know what gets me? She didn’t even leave angry. She left quietly. And that says more than shouting ever could.
Carlos: That’s what kills me. She still doesn’t want us to fight over her. She just wanted to be seen.
Lewis: And now she finally is. By the one person who actually looked before it was too late.
George: Max is probably already privately planning to change his will and tattoo her name on his chest.
Lando: He's in full "mine" mode. He’ll probably growl at anybody that comes close to her for the remainder of the week.
Daniel Ricciardo: Wait until Charles finds out. About the wedding. About the “Mr. and Mrs. Verstappen” monogrammed towels.
Oscar: He doesn’t deserve to even have a fucking opinion about it. And he doesn’t get to drag Belle through more of his guilt spiral.
Lewis: And if he does?
Oscar: Then we remind him. She’s not invisible anymore. And she never has to be again.
Sebastian: Long live Belle Verstappen. She deserves peace.
Carlos: And we’re making damn sure she keeps it.

Text Messages: Max Verstappen & Victoria Verstappen
Victoria: I just saw the clip.  Charles finally realized, didn’t he?
Victoria: I want to throw my phone through a wall. How did it take a live interview for it to click??
Victoria: Is Belle okay? Please tell me she’s okay. Tell me you’re with her.
Max: I’m flying back tonight. Emilie’s with her now. She’s safe. Quiet. But… not okay. Not yet.
Victoria:  Of course she’s not. She was standing there in the garage and smiled at him, and he didn’t remember. I don’t know how she held it together.
Max: Because that’s what she’s always done. Hold it in. Make it easier for everyone else.
Victoria: Not anymore. She doesn’t owe them that. She never did. And if Charles tries to guilt her into “moving on,” I swear to God.
Max: He won’t get the chance.
Victoria: Good. And when you get home—hold her tight, okay?
Max: Always. I’ve got her, Vic. She’s not alone anymore.
Victoria: She better not be. Because if any of them make her feel small again, I will drive to Monaco and handle it myself.
Max: You’ll have to get in line behind me.

Text Messages: Max Verstappen & Jos Verstappen
Jos: Just saw the clip. The post-race interview.
Max: He only realized because Karun mentioned it. Didn’t even remember on his own.
Jos: I want to drive to Maranello and punch something.
Jos: You tell me—right now—is she okay?
Max: Emilie’s with her. She says Belle’s sleeping. Quiet. She hasn’t messaged me yet. But I’m heading home.
Jos: Good. Don’t leave her alone with that silence. She’ll pretend she’s fine. She’ll say it doesn’t matter. But this? This hurt her. You can see it in the way she vanished.
Jos: Belle doesn’t demand space. She disappears when she feels like no one wants her in the room.
Max: I know. She doesn’t have to say it for me to hear it.
Jos: I’m proud of her. She stood up for herself the only way she knew how. By walking away.
Jos: But I swear to God, if that brother of hers ever makes her feel like that again— I don’t care if he’s a Leclerc. I will make sure he never forgets who she is again.
Max: You’ll have to beat me to it. I’m not letting them near her until she says she’s ready. If she ever is.
Jos: That’s my boy. You take care of her. And tell her this family—the one she chose—has her back. Always.

Text Messages: Max Verstappen & Sophie Kumpen
Sophie: I just watched the interview.
Sophie: Max… he forgot her birthday. She was standing in the garage. She smiled at him. And he didn’t even blink. Like she was nobody.
Max: He remembered live on camera. Karun said something about Monaco and her birthday, and it hit him mid-answer. You could see it crash into him.
Sophie: God,  I hope it crushes him.
Sophie: How is Belle? Have you spoken to her?
Max: Emilie’s with her. She says she’s safe. Sleeping. Quiet.
Sophie: She’s always quiet when she’s hurting. Always. You remember that, Max. The softer she gets, the harder she’s holding herself together.
Max: I know. That’s why I’m coming home.
Sophie: Good. She needs you. Not the Max who wins races. You.  The one who holds her hand when she’s anxious. The one who brings her tulips on Thursdays because she mentioned liking them once.
Sophie: Because the people who were supposed to protect her? They failed her.
Max: I’ll never let her feel like that again.
Sophie: I know you won’t. Because you see her. And that’s the most anyone can give someone who’s spent their whole life being overlooked.
Sophie: You tell her I’m coming by next week. No pressure. Just lunch. And she can sit on the balcony and not say a word if that’s all she wants. I’ll just be there.
Max: She’ll love that. She loves you.
Sophie: I love her. And if her family can’t act like it, she’s more than welcome in ours.

Max sat in his seat, elbow propped against the armrest, forehead resting against his knuckles as the private jet hummed through the night. The win from earlier that day already felt like a lifetime ago. He hadn’t celebrated. Not really. He’d shaken hands, answered the questions, smiled on the podium because it was muscle memory now.
But the second the press conference ended, the weight had dropped onto his chest.
Charles had realized. Finally.
Live. On camera. Because someone else—Karun, of all people—had mentioned Belle’s birthday.
It had taken that long. Two weeks.
Max had replayed the press clip on his phone once—watched Charles’ face shift in slow motion from charm to dawning horror. Watched him falter, then spiral. And Max hadn’t felt a drop of pity.
Because Belle had stood in that garage. She’d smiled. She’d waved. And her own brother had looked through her.
Across the aisle, Lando was sprawled in his seat with a blanket half-pulled over his face, earbuds in, legs stretched into Oscar’s personal space. Oscar had given up fighting it and was half-asleep against the window. Daniel was flipping through something on his iPad, likely pretending not to watch Max out of the corner of his eye.
The silence was comfortable. Familiar. But Max’s mind was anything but.
Daniel had commandeered the seat across Max and was watching the proceedings like a therapist in a sitcom.
Finally, Lando broke the silence.
“Sooo…” he said slowly, cautiously, “how’s Belle?”
Max didn’t even look up. “Emilie’s with her. She said she’s okay. Belle was sleeping. Under the cats. Emilie said she looked peaceful.”
Lando hesitated. “Right. So… you know… she’s safe?”
“Yeah.”
“But you’re still brooding.”
“I’m not brooding,” Max muttered.
Daniel leaned over the seat, grinning. “Oh, you are. Brooding with intensity. I haven’t seen this level of moody since Lando ran out of oat milk last week.”
“Hey,” Lando protested, “that was a crisis. And also—can we talk about how terrifying Emilie is?”
Daniel burst out laughing. “So your crush is confirmed.”
Lando went pink. “I do not have a crush.”
Oscar stretched, deadpan: “You stalked her on instagram and accidentally liked a post from 2019.”
“That was admiration! That’s different.”
Max finally glanced over, managing a small smirk despite the pressure in his chest. “You are a brave man,” he told Lando sagely, who glared at him.
Lando groaned, pulling his hoodie over his head. “Why did I say that out loud?”
Daniel looked way too delighted. “Because you’re into emotionally terrifying women with sharp cheekbones and moral clarity. Honestly? Taste.”
Oscar nodded solemnly. “Elite taste.”
“I hate all of you.”
“You love us,” Oscar yawned.
Max’s smile faded again as he looked back at his phone. The moment passed, quiet settling again like dust.
Lando, quieter now, asked, “Do you think Belle’s okay?”
Max didn’t answer right away. He was thinking of her curled on the couch. Of Emilie sitting beside her. Of their cats acting like tiny sentinels. He thought of the unopened texts, the unreturned calls.
“I think,” he said eventually, “she’s tired. Of being forgotten. Of being an afterthought. Of being quiet and still never heard.”
The other three fell silent. Even Daniel looked serious now.
Max looked down at the screen. Still nothing.
“But she’s not alone,” he added. “Not this time.”
Oscar nodded. “You’ll be home soon.”
Max’s voice was soft but certain. “Yeah. And when I get there, I’m staying. No more paddock games. No more silence. She doesn’t have to carry any of it alone anymore.”
Lando peeked out from his hoodie. “You’re like… scarily romantic for someone who once said feelings were ‘a distraction’.”
Max huffed a laugh. “Turns out she’s the only distraction I want.”
Daniel wiped an imaginary tear. “Beautiful. Print that on a mug.”
Oscar: “Tattoo it on your neck.”
Lando: “Put it on team merch. Limited edition.”
Max smiled faintly, then leaned back, still clutching his phone.
Let them joke.
Because the second they landed, he was going home. To her.
And this time, he wasn’t letting anyone—not a team, not a calendar, not even her family—make her feel invisible again.

Alexandra: Hey, Isabelle. I know it’s late. I just… I wanted to say I’m thinking about you.
Alexandra: Charles realized during the post-race interview. I don’t think I’ve ever seen him look so gutted. I wish it hadn’t taken that for him to see what he missed.
Alexandra: I don’t want to say the wrong thing. I’m sure a lot of people already have. But you didn’t deserve to be forgotten. You never have. And I’m sorry.

Text Messages:  Alexandra Saint-Mleux & Charlotte Di Pietro
Alexandra: Hey. Just a heads-up before it hits you through someone else: We forgot Belle’s birthday.
Charlotte: …what?
Alexandra: All of us. Her entire family.
Charlotte: No. No way. It was during Monaco, wasn’t it?
Alexandra: Yes. She was in the garage, Char. Waved at Charles. Smiled at all of us. And not one of us remembered.
Charlotte: Oh my god.
Alexandra: Charles realized during a post-race interview today. The interviewer mentioned her birthday and I watched it hit him like a truck.
Charlotte: Is Isabelle okay?
Alexandra: She hasn’t answered anyone. Not even Pascale.
Charlotte: That’s not “okay.” That’s Isabelle shutting the world out.
Alexandra: Exactly. And the worst part? She didn’t say anything. She let us all forget. She didn’t expect us to remember.
Charlotte: Because we’ve done it before. Not like this. But still. God.
Alexandra: I texted her. No reply. She might answer you if you try. You’ve always been gentle with her.
Charlotte: I will. Thank you for telling me. And for not pretending it’s less awful than it is.
Alexandra: She deserves more than silence and spin. She always has.
Charlotte: I’ll try to reach her tomorrow. Even if she doesn’t answer… she’ll know someone tried.
Alexandra: That’s all we can do now. Try. And mean it.

The apartment was quiet when Max stepped inside.
Soft light filtered in through the curtains, casting golden stripes across the hardwood. The cats didn’t rush to greet him—they were already curled up in their usual spots, half-asleep and full of judgment. Sassy lifted her head briefly from the back of the couch, flicked her tail in acknowledgment, and went right back to sleep.
Max dropped his duffel gently by the door, kicked off his shoes without a sound, and padded into the hallway. Every step closer to the bedroom felt heavier. Not with dread. But with something deeper. Something like relief tied up in knots of worry.
He pushed the door open quietly.
There she was.
Belle, curled on his side of the bed, her frame barely a ripple beneath the duvet. One of his old shirts hung off her shoulder, too big and soft and completely hers now. Her hair was a mess, her breathing slow and steady.
He’d spent days missing her. And now, seeing her like this—peaceful, untouched by the storm her family had just realized they created—he nearly broke.
Max crossed the room slowly, sliding into bed behind her without a word. His hand found her waist beneath the blanket, fingers curling gently. His nose tucked into her shoulder, lips brushing against the skin just below her ear.
She stirred.
“Mm?” she murmured sleepily, voice raspy and warm. “Max?”
“Hey,” he whispered. “I’m home.”
Belle rolled toward him without hesitation, arms winding around his middle, burying her face in his chest like she hadn’t seen him in months. He held her tighter. One hand cradling the back of her head, the other tracing slow, soothing lines down her spine.
“Did Emilie let you in?” she mumbled.
“No. She left me a note that said ‘fridge is stocked, don’t screw it up.’” He paused. “Also, she stole my last protein bar.”
Belle huffed a sleepy breath of laughter. Then: “I’m glad you’re here.”
“Me too,” Max said softly. “I’ve missed you.”
She pulled back just enough to look up at him. Her eyes were puffy, tired—but clearer than he expected. The ache he saw in them was quieter now. Calmer. He reached up, brushing his thumb gently beneath one eye.
“They all texted,” she said.
He nodded. “I know.”
“And called. Voicemails. Messages. Even Alexandra, I think.” Her voice was neutral, but her fingers had curled into his shirt. “I shut off my phone. I just… I can’t deal with them right now.”
“You don’t have to.”
She exhaled slowly. “They forgot, Max. Not just my birthday. Me. And now they’re panicking, but not because they miss me. Because they feel guilty. It’s not the same.”
Max didn’t rush to fill the silence. He let it settle between them, warm and safe and honest.
“They’ll say sorry,” he said eventually. “But that doesn’t mean you have to forgive them all at once. Or at all. That’s your call.”
Belle swallowed. “I just… I don’t know if I want to let them back in. Not after this. Not when it took two weeks and an interview for them to notice.”
Max leaned down, pressing a kiss to her forehead. “Then don’t. You don’t owe them anything.”
She closed her eyes, breathing him in. His presence. His steadiness. The way he never told her what she should feel—just made space for what she did.
“You always see me,” she whispered.
“Always,” Max said. “Every day. Every version of you. Even the one who hides under a blanket and ghosts her whole bloodline.”
Belle laughed, watery and real. “I love you.”
Max smiled, burying his face in her hair. “I love you more.”
They stayed there, wrapped in warmth and honesty and quiet defiance.
Her family could wait. The texts could sit unread. The apologies could pile up.
Right now, she had Max. And that was enough.

Text Messages: Max Fewtrell & Lando Norris
Max Fewtrell: BRO. You saw it, right??  Charles fully crashed his soul mid-interview??
Lando: Unfortunately, yes. It was like watching someone remember they left the oven on... and also their sister.
Max Fewtrell: Iconic. Karun was like “her birthday, right?”  And Charles just downloaded a full panic attack.
Max Fewtrell: I screamed. Like—out loud. In public.
Lando Norris: It was kind of beautiful tbh. Like watching karma arrive with a mic and a production crew.
Max Fewtrell: Is his sister okay though? Do we know? Does she have a burner Twitter? I feel like she would.
Lando Norris:  She’s fine. Emilie’s with her.
Max Fewtrell: Who’s Emilie?
Lando Norris: ... She's Belle’s best friend.  Sharp. Dangerous. Possibly psychic. Says terrifyingly accurate things about my emotional state and then walks away in heels
Lando: She’s terrifying. Also brilliant.  And she’s like…scarily beautiful.
Max Fewtrell: You have a crush on her, don’t you.
Lando: …I didn’t say that.
Max Fewtrell: YOU ABSOLUTELY DO OH MY GOD YOU DO This is the best gossip of the day and Charles had a meltdown on live TV
Lando: Shut up Also can we go back to Charles??
Max Fewtrell: No Because now I want to know why you know where Belle is And how you know Emilie’s with her And why you’re being so weirdly calm
Lando: …because I went to the wedding?
Max Fewtrell: THE WHAT
Lando: ...
Max Fewtrell: LAN THE WEDDING
Lando: Yeah. Belle and Max Verstappen. They got married. I was invited. Very small. City Hall. No media. Emilie picked the flowers
Max Fewtrell: MAX. VERSTAPPEN?!
Lando: Yes
Max Fewtrell:  YOU MEAN TO TELL ME CHARLES IS HAVING A BREAKDOWN ABOUT FORGETTING HIS SISTER’S BIRTHDAY AND DOESN’T EVEN KNOW SHE’S MARRIED TO HIS RIVAL???
Lando: Correct
Max Fewtrell: I need to lie down. And then I need popcorn And possibly therapy But also more of this
Lando: Same. Group chat is chaos Do not ask to be added It’s war in there
Max Fewtrell: This is better than Drive to Survive You’ve been sitting on this gossip for HOW LONG?
Lando: Long enough to know I value my life And Max Verstappen would kill me if I leaked it before they were ready
Max Fewtrell: Fair
Lando: You think Charles is spiraling now… Wait until he finds out Max is family now
Max Fewtrell: My god. This is better than Netflix.

Lorenzo had barely slept.
After learning Isabelle hadn’t lived in her old apartment for nearly a year, he’d paced half the night in his kitchen, replaying every memory, every text, every moment he should have noticed and didn’t. His phone was full of unanswered group chat pings and hollow apologies.
By morning, he couldn’t sit still anymore.
He needed answers.
So he went to the one place he knew she would be at 8 am on a Monday morning.
Her job.
Atelier Renard Architects.
Clean glass facade, minimalist signage, nestled on the edge of the marina like it had always been there. Isabelle used to say she loved that building more than half her portfolio—it knows exactly what it is and makes no apologies for it.
The receptionist didn’t recognize him at first. He introduced himself politely—Lorenzo Leclerc, Isabelle’s brother—and tried not to notice the pause.
Then the woman gave a hesitant smile. “Oh… Isabelle. Yes, of course. I’m sorry, I didn’t realize—”
“I just wanted to stop by,” he said, trying to keep his voice calm. “She’s not answering her phone. I thought maybe she was working, or—”
“Oh.” The woman’s expression faltered. “She doesn’t work here anymore.”
Lorenzo blinked. “What?”
“She… quit. Months ago. November, I think? Maybe early December. It was quiet. No big announcement. She just cleared out her office in one evening.”
Lorenzo’s stomach dropped. “Did she say why?”
The receptionist grimaced. “There were some internal issues. She seemed calm. Almost… relieved.”
Lorenzo stepped back slightly, reeling.
Quit.
She’d quit the one job she had fought tooth and nail for. The one thing she always lit up talking about.
And no one in her family had noticed.
Not one of them.
“I’m sorry,” the receptionist said gently. “I assumed you knew.”
Lorenzo nodded stiffly. “No, thank you. You’ve been kind.”
He left quickly. Didn’t wait for anything more.
Outside, he leaned against the edge of a planter and braced both hands on the cool stone, breath catching.
Isabelle hadn’t just moved.
She hadn’t just gone quiet.
She’d walked away from everything they thought they knew about her.
And no one—not a single one of them—had been close enough to notice it happening.
She’d untethered herself from them all.
And now?
Now they had no idea where she stood.
If she was hurt. If she was gone.
For the first time in years, panic didn’t just flicker in Lorenzo’s chest—it bloomed, wide and wild.
He pulled out his phone. Called her again. Straight to voicemail.

Text Messages: Alexandra Saint Mleux & Emilie Abadie
Alexandra: Hey Emilie. I just wanted to check in. Do you know how Isabelle is doing?
Emilie: She’s resting. She’s emotionally exhausted. And no, she’s not answering anyone right now.
Alexandra: I figured. I wasn’t going to ask you to make her talk, I just… Wanted to make sure she’s okay. Truly.
Emilie: You all want to make sure she’s “okay” now. Where was that energy six months ago? Or a year ago? Or on her birthday?
Alexandra: I know. You’re right. We failed her. I’m not pretending we didn’t. I’m just trying not to make the same mistake twice.
Emilie: Then don’t turn this into your redemption arc. Belle is not your apology vessel. She doesn’t owe anyone grace she hasn’t given herself yet.
Alexandra: …Okay. That’s fair. I’m not trying to earn points. Just… trying.
Emilie: Trying is good. But don’t expect updates or access. She gets to choose who gets that now. And when.
Alexandra: Of course. Is she alone?
Emilie: No. Her boyfriend’s with her. He’s been looking after her. And he likes taking care of her.
***
Max blinked his eyes open just as Belle shifted in his arms and pushed herself up slightly, hair tousled and sweater slipping off one shoulder. Her eyes were tired, but calmer now. Clearer.
“Hi,” she whispered, voice rough with sleep.
“Hi,” he murmured back, brushing her hair behind her ear. “How are you feeling?”
She hesitated. “Better. Now that you’re here.”
He kissed her forehead. “I’m not going anywhere.”
Belle sat up a little more, folding her legs under her. Max followed, still close, watching her carefully.
There was something in the way she looked at him now. Like she was on the edge of a cliff, heart in her throat, trying to trust the air would catch her.
“I have to tell you something,” she said softly, her fingers playing with the hem of her sleeve.
Max stilled. “Okay.”
“I was going to wait,” she said. “I didn’t want to do it over the phone, or in the middle of all the… noise. But you’re here now, and I don’t want to keep it from you.”
“Belle,” he said gently, “you can tell me anything.”
“I have something for you.”
Max blinked. “Is this a surprise-I- am-mad-at-you gift or a I-love-you-so-here’s-something-cute gift?”
Belle rolled her eyes, but her lips curved slightly. “The second one.”
“Good,” he said. “I was going to guess that anyway.”
She opened the drawer of her bedside table and pulled something out of it, only to placed it gently in his lap.
A lion plush.
Max looked down at it, brows drawing together. It was small, soft, slightly chubby around the middle with a fuzzy, mane and button eyes. Not something he’d seen before.
He ran a hand over its head slowly, confused but already fond of it. “Where did this come from?”
“I bought it the day after you left for Canada,” Belle said quietly. “I was shopping for a gift for Victoria’s baby, and I saw him. And I couldn’t put him back.”
Max looked at her, then back at the lion, frowning slightly in thought. “For Victoria’s baby?”
She shook her head. Her voice was soft, but steady. Belle’s eyes met his.
“For ours.”
The words hit him like a gear shift in slow motion. He blinked, heart thudding, mouth parting, but no sound coming out. He looked at her, really looked at her—at the hoodie draped over her shoulders, at the hand resting on her stomach without thinking, at the way her eyes shimmered but didn’t waver.
“You’re—” His voice cracked. “You’re pregnant?”
Belle nodded. “Twelve weeks, now. I thought it was the anemia at first. I went in for a check-up and they… they did an ultrasound.”
Max’s hand found hers without hesitation, fingers lacing tightly. “And everything’s okay?”
She nodded again, breath catching this time. “There was a heartbeat. A strong one. I saw it.”
He stared at her in awe, overwhelmed, his brain scrambling to keep up while his heart surged forward.
The plush lion sat between them on the bed, quiet and steady.
Max looked down at it, then back at her. “You’re serious?”
Belle’s voice cracked then, just a little. “I didn’t want to tell you over the phone. I wanted it to be here. With you. Home.”
And Max—Max didn’t even realize he was crying until she touched his cheek, brushing the tears away with the gentlest smile.
“You’re having our baby,” he said, the words tumbling out of him like something sacred.
Belle’s breath caught.
And then Max let out a shaky laugh—half in disbelief, half in awe. “You’re having our baby.”
She bit her lip. “Is that… okay?”
“Belle,” he said, looking at her like she’d just given him the universe, “it’s perfect.”
He looked down, then up at her again.
“Twelve weeks?” he said. “So that means…”
“December,” Belle murmured. “Right before the new season.”
His grin was slow, bright, and stunned. “A Verstappen off-season baby. We’re so on-brand.”
Belle laughed, soft and teary.
Max reached past her, picked up the lion, and pressed it to her stomach with gentle reverence.
“Hey, little one,” he said quietly. “I can’t wait to meet you.”

Genre: romance, slow burn, enemies to lovers, kinda funny?, they fuck, n its hot n sweaty, cat n mouse
Description: What starts as a game of avoidance turns into something far more dangerous when old grudges and unfinished business crash headfirst into a truth neither of them are ready to face. Armed with a stubborn streak, a boyfriend you're trying too hard to believe in, and a simmering resentment that burns just as hot as desire, you swear you won’t let Paige win.
But when history keeps rewriting itself in glances, in touches, in words that cut too close—you start to wonder if you've had control of the game at all.
wc: 24k, yes, 24k
Authors Note: sorry this took forever, too many words so this is split into two parts (THIS IS part 2 chap 2)
Three Weeks Later
Midterms came and went, dragging you through hell and back. The sleepless nights, the cramming, the fucking Systems Engineering project that nearly made you throw your laptop out a window. It’s over. You survived.
And somewhere in between all of it—Paige Bueckers became just a name again.
Not a person. Not a presence. Not someone orbiting your every waking moment.
Just a name you see online.
A headline when UConn wins another game.
A clip someone reposts on Twitter, her pulling up from three like it’s muscle memory, making it look so goddamn easy.
Her life moves forward at full speed.
The season’s in full swing, meaning the team’s constantly gone—traveling for games, disappearing for days at a time, too busy to be anything but motion.
It’s weird.
Because after that night—after the fucking laundry room, after the way she felt against you, the way her breath tangled with yours—you thought she’d stick. Thought the weight of her would still be there, pressing into your ribs, twisting your stomach every time you caught a glimpse of her across campus. But she’s gone.
Not in the literal sense. You still hear her name, see her in passing, watch her run drills on the court like she owns it. But she’s not here. Not in the way that matters. She’s everywhere else—on screens, in headlines, living a life that no longer overlaps with yours.
And you hate that the only way you see her now is through a fucking phone. A video of her laughing on the sideline, hair damp with sweat, head thrown back like she doesn’t have a care in the world. A post-game interview where she’s loose, confident, rattling off the same media-trained answers like she’s never lost control of anything in her life. She’s fine. She’s thriving.
And the worst part? She probably doesn’t think about you at all.
So you adjust. You fall back into routine. Class. Studying. Work. You go to parties, sometimes. You drink. You dance. You make out with people whose names you don’t bother remembering. You kiss Eli again—once, just to see if it sparks something, if it fills the void she left behind. It doesn’t. It never does.
And then, just as fast as she disappeared—
She’s back.
It happens out of nowhere. One second, you’re dragging yourself through campus, brain fogged with sleep, the winter air biting at your skin, coffee scalding the tip of your tongue. And then—her. Right there. Like she never left. Like she hasn’t spent the last few weeks bouncing between cities, arenas, flashing cameras. Like she isn’t something bigger than all of this.
She’s standing outside the training facility, hoodie pulled over her head, joggers slung low on her hips, a duffel bag hanging off her shoulder. She’s talking to someone—one of her coaches, maybe—but she’s different. Not in the way she looks. No, she’s exactly the same, infuriatingly so. It’s something else, something in the way she carries herself, like she’s spent so much time away from this part of her life that she almost forgot it existed.
Like she almost forgot about you.
Your breath stutters. Your steps slow.
She’s close enough to touch. Close enough to reach out and prove she’s real.
And yet, she might as well be a ghost.
Because when she finally turns, finally glances up—she sees you. You know she does. But there’s nothing. No reaction. No flicker of recognition. No teasing smirk. No raised brow, no knowing glance, nothing. Just a passing look, empty and indifferent, before she turns away.
Like you’re nobody.
Like that night never happened.
Like you never fucking existed.
And it wrecks you. Because for the first time since this whole fucked-up, tangled thing started—
It feels like you lost.

Two Months Later
Dating Eli is easy. That’s the problem.
There’s no push and pull, no fire curling under your ribs, no moments where your pulse spikes so fast you think you might actually combust. There’s no game. No tension. Just quiet, steady comfort. He’s sweet—thoughtful, even. Picks you up for class sometimes, walks you to your dorm even when it’s out of his way, texts you good morning despite seeing you every day. A good boyfriend. The kind you’re supposed to want.
And you? You go through the motions. You hold his hand. Let him kiss you. Let him slip an arm around your shoulders as you walk across campus, even though it still feels foreign. Even though it still feels wrong. But you let it happen because it’s safe. Because he doesn’t make your stomach drop. Because he doesn’t wreck you.
Because he’s not her.
And that’s exactly what you need. Because Paige Bueckers doesn’t know you exist anymore.
She came back from the season like she shed you—like you were just something she outgrew. Whatever happened between you was nothing. A passing thought. A mistake so inconsequential she didn’t even have to acknowledge it. And if she doesn’t care? Then neither do you.
So you lean into Eli.
And when he invites you to a UConn game—something casual, something low-stakes, something he’s excited to take you to—you say yes. You say yes because it makes sense. Because this is your life now. Because Paige Bueckers is just another player on the court.
And that’s all she’s ever going to be.
The stadium is packed, the early spring air crisp, cutting through the warmth of the sun. You follow Eli up the steps, scanning for open seats, the scent of popcorn and hot dogs thick in the air. It’s different from the last time you were at a game. Not indoors, not under the blinding arena lights. The energy is looser, more relaxed, fans chatting easily, kids waving oversized foam fingers.
You take a breath, steadying yourself. It’s fine. It’s just a game. And you’re here with your boyfriend.
Eli finds seats near the middle, pulling you down beside him, arm draping lazily over your shoulders. You lean in, let yourself sink into the warmth of his body, let yourself pretend like this is all normal.
On the court, the team is warming up. Players jog across the pavement, stretching, shaking out their limbs. Your gaze drifts over them, detached, unfocused, not looking for anything in particular—
And then—her.
It shouldn’t feel like a fucking collision, but it does.
Your breath catches, body locking up as if it knew before your brain did. As if some deep, unshakable instinct recognized her presence before you could stop it. Paige jogs across the court, her shorts hanging loose around her thighs, her hoodie still on, dribbling lazily like she doesn’t have a single care in the world. Like she’s untouchable.
Your chest tightens. She still looks the same. Still is the same. And yet—something’s different. Maybe it’s the way she seems even more unreachable now, like she exists in a space just beyond your grasp.
You exhale sharply, force your gaze away.
You’re here with Eli.
You’re fine.
This means nothing.
Eli nudges you. “You good?”
You blink, nodding too quickly. “Yeah. Just thinking.”
He smiles, presses a kiss to the side of your head. “Get ready. She’s gonna put on a show.”
You force a laugh.
And when you chance another glance at the court—Paige is already looking at you.
But this time, she reacts.
Just slightly. Just enough.
A shift in her eyes. A flicker of something.
And then—she smiles.
Not big. Not obvious. Just the barest curve of her lips, like she knows. Like she sees you sitting there, tucked under Eli’s arm, playing house, pretending like you’ve moved on. And for the first time in months, you know—
She hasn’t forgotten you at all.
You don’t watch the game. Not really.
You hear it—the sharp squeak of sneakers against pavement, the shrill whistle of fouls, the deafening roar of the crowd when UConn scores. You see it—the blur of white and navy jerseys cutting across the court.
But your focus is off.
Because all you can feel is the weight of her presence.
And the fact that she knows you’re here.
It fucks with you.
Because it had been easy to believe she forgot. That she let it go, left you in the past, moved on like you were nothing. But now—now she’s looking at you between plays. Not constantly. Not obviously. Just enough.
A glance while she’s standing at the free-throw line, hands on her hips, chest rising and falling. A flicker of her eyes when she jogs back on defense, scanning the crowd, skimming right past Eli like he doesn’t even exist.
And that fucking smirk when she sinks a three-pointer, lets it hang in the air for just a second before she turns, wiping the sweat off her brow with the hem of her jersey.
It’s deliberate. Calculated.
And it’s working.
Heat curls up your spine, a suffocating mix of frustration and something you won’t name. Your arms lock tight across your stomach, fingers curled into your sleeves. Beside you, Eli cheers, completely oblivious.
You wish you could be.
You wish you could tune her out. Pretend she’s just another player on the court. Pretend she doesn’t get under your skin.
But she’s in your head again. She won’t leave.
And worse—she knows it.
The game stretches on, endless. Every second is another reminder that she’s still there. That she’s not just some passing thought, some unfinished mistake. She’s real. She’s here. And she’s still in this fucking thing with you, even if neither of you are saying it out loud.
By the time the final buzzer sounds, you feel like you’ve been through a war.
Eli’s arm tightens around your shoulders, shaking you lightly. “See? Told you she’d put on a show.”
You nod, force a tight smile, but your chest feels hollow, your stomach twisted into something you don’t know how to untangle.
Because the game might be over—
But this?
This is just getting started.
Tumblr media
The crowd filters out in waves, a slow, steady stream of bodies stretching stiff limbs, shaking off the lingering chill, still thrumming with energy from the win. Eli stands, his hand warm around yours as he pulls you up with him, his voice easy, unbothered, spilling into the space between you with post-game analysis—stats, highlights, a play he wants to rewatch later.
You nod when you’re supposed to, hum responses that sound just engaged enough, but none of it sticks. Your mind is elsewhere.
Because she’s still here.
Not with the team. Not caught up in post-game celebrations or media duties. No cameras, no noise, no excuses. Just lingering.
Sweat still clings to the curve of her neck, damp strands of blonde hair curling against her skin. Her hoodie is pulled over her head, water bottle hanging loose from her fingers, body relaxed like she has nowhere to be. But she’s not just standing there.
She’s watching.
Not outright. Not obvious. Just enough.
And Eli? He doesn’t notice.
Because why would he? He’s here with his girlfriend, celebrating a win, caught up in the moment, assuming she’s just watching the team clear out, thinking nothing of it.
You, on the other hand—
You can’t fucking breathe.
Every nerve is stretched too tight, buzzing under your skin, prickling like static, like she’s marking you without even touching you. Like she’s still fucking with you, seeing how much space she can take up in your head before you break.
And the worst part?
She looks fine.
Completely untouched. Unshaken. Not like she’s been thinking about you. Not like this has cost her anything.
And that—that is what undoes you.
Because this was supposed to be over.
You were supposed to be fine.
But here you are. Crumbling.
Eli tugs on your sleeve, easy, unaware. “Come on, let’s head out before traffic gets bad.”
You blink, drag yourself back into the present, nodding too quickly. “Yeah. Yeah, let’s go.”
One step.
Then two.
And then—
You don’t mean to look.
But you do.
Just for a second.
And she’s still there.
And she smiles.
Not big. Not obvious. Just that same, slow, knowing curve of her lips.
Like she sees right through you.
Like she knows you’re unraveling.
Like she’s won.
Tumblr media
It’s three days after the game when the email comes in.
You don’t think much of it at first, just another facilities request forwarded to you through the engineering department—something about a faulty vent system in the women’s basketball locker room. Nothing urgent, nothing particularly exciting, just another task to check off your list between classes and whatever project is currently draining your soul. You’re barely skimming the details as you type out a confirmation reply, promising to stop by that afternoon, when it hits you.
Women’s basketball locker room.
Your stomach tightens.
For a second, you debate forwarding it off to someone else. Someone more qualified, someone with less history hanging in that space. But that’s fucking ridiculous, isn’t it? It’s been three months. Three months since the laundry room, since she pretended you didn’t exist, since you started playing house with Eli like it was supposed to fix everything. Three months of routine, of pretending you don’t track her name through game highlights and Twitter clips, of pretending you don’t feel her presence like a ghost in the back of your head.
You should be fine.
This shouldn’t be a thing.
It’s a fucking vent. You’re going to walk in, tighten some screws, maybe clean out a filter, and walk right back out. No big deal.
And yet, as you step into the building later that afternoon, tool bag slung over your shoulder, the cold press of the metal door handle beneath your palm, you feel something coil tight in your chest, something uneasy and electric, something that tells you this won’t be as easy as you want it to be.
The locker room is quiet when you step inside, the kind of silence that feels thick, like it’s waiting to be broken. The scent of sweat and body wash lingers in the air, fresh from practice, steam still clinging faintly from the showers in the back. Rows of lockers stretch across the room, some still open, jerseys draped lazily over the benches, sneakers kicked off in pairs on the floor.
You exhale slowly, adjusting the strap of your bag as you move toward the vent panel along the far wall. The faster you do this, the faster you can leave. You crouch, fingers working quickly to loosen the first few screws, trying to focus on the movement, the mechanics, anything but the slight tremble in your hands, anything but—
“Didn’t think I’d see you in here.”
The voice is unmistakable.
That low, casual drawl, edged in something sharper, something teasing, something that shouldn’t still make your breath catch the way it does.
You don’t turn immediately.
You keep working, keep your gaze locked on the vent, pretend like your pulse hasn’t just doubled. “Just fixing a maintenance issue,” you say, voice as even as you can manage. “Won’t be here long.”
There’s a pause, a shift of movement, the unmistakable sound of sneakers against tile. She’s coming closer.
“Shame,” Paige murmurs, and fuck, you feel it.
The weight of her gaze. The presence of her body somewhere behind you, close enough to make the air feel different, charged, suffocating.
You grip the screwdriver tighter.
She shouldn’t be here. Not now, not after all this time, not when you’ve spent months convincing yourself she doesn’t matter.
But she is.
And she’s talking to you.
You swallow, working another screw loose, forcing yourself to focus. “Shouldn’t you be at practice?”
She hums, and you hear the smile in it before you see it. “Finished early.” A pause, and then, “Didn’t know you were doing this kind of work.”
Your jaw tightens.
Of course, she didn’t. Because you don’t exist in her world anymore, do you? Not unless she decides you do.
You finally turn, slowly, pushing up from your crouch, letting yourself look at her.
And fuck, that was a mistake.
Because she looks good, better than you remember, the months of training and travel and games only sharpening her in ways that make your stomach twist. She’s standing there in sweatpants and a UConn tee, hair damp from a post-practice shower, arms crossed over her chest, watching you like she’s curious, like she’s interested, like she hasn’t spent three months pretending you were just another passing face in the crowd.
And it pisses you off.
You force a shrug, tilting your head slightly. “Didn’t know you cared what I was doing.”
Her smirk twitches. Just barely. Just enough.
“Didn’t say I did,” she replies smoothly, but the way she’s watching you says otherwise.
There it is.
The push and pull. The old game slipping back into place like it never left, like three months of avoidance didn’t mean shit.
And you should walk away. You should finish the job and leave, act like you don’t feel this, act like she’s just another person in another room.
But you don’t.
Because something deep in you, something bitter and unresolved and desperate, needs to know if this still means something.
So you take a step closer, watching the flicker in her eyes as you do.
“Then why are you standing here?” you ask, voice low, steady, challenging.
Paige doesn’t move. Doesn’t step back, doesn’t flinch, just holds your gaze, her mouth curving slightly, like she’s enjoying this, like she knows she’s getting to you.
“Maybe I’m just curious,” she says, tilting her head. “Been a while, hasn’t it?”
Three months.
Three months of silence. Three months of pretending. Three months of you thinking you were the only one who remembered, the only one who cared, the only one still feeling it.
And now?
Now she’s standing here, looking at you like she never forgot at all.
You don’t answer.
Because what is there to say? That, yeah, it’s been a while, and yet somehow it still feels like she never left your fucking head? That you’ve spent the past three months trying to scrub the memory of her hands off your skin, only to have them crawl back the second you laid eyes on her again? That seeing her at the game did something to you—something ugly, something desperate, something you don’t want to name?
No.
You won’t give her that.
So instead, you just lift a brow, forcing something casual onto your face, like her presence isn’t making your chest feel too tight. “Yeah. Guess it has.”
Paige watches you for a second longer, and you can see it happening—her weighing the moment, deciding how she wants to play this. Because that’s what she does, isn’t it? She plays. Gives you something, just a taste, just enough to make your stomach flip, before she rips it away.
And you should know better by now.
You do know better.
But then she shifts, weight rolling back onto one foot, arms still folded, her mouth quirking into that slow, almost lazy smirk—the one that’s never meant nothing.
“So,” she says, tilting her head, “are you gonna keep ignoring me, or are we past that now?”
Your pulse stutters.
Your fingers tighten around the screwdriver in your hand.
You weren’t expecting that.
For her to just say it. To acknowledge it, to drag it into the light, the weight of your silence, the way you spent months dodging her like it might actually fix you.
You scoff, shaking your head, turning back to the vent, to anything that isn’t her mouth forming words that fuck you up. “I haven’t been ignoring you.”
It’s a lie.
Paige knows it’s a lie.
She steps closer—just enough that you can feel the shift of air between you, just enough that you catch the faint scent of her shampoo, something fresh, something clean, something too close.
“You sure?” she murmurs. “Because it kinda seemed like you were.”
Your teeth clench.
She’s doing it again.
The push and pull. The little tug, just enough to make you stumble, to throw you off balance, to remind you exactly who you’re dealing with.
You exhale slowly through your nose, focus on the screw you’re twisting into place, force your voice to stay neutral. “You seemed fine with it.”
There’s a pause. Just for a beat. Just long enough that you think maybe—maybe—you landed something.
Then—soft, amused—Paige says, “You think that?”
And it’s not fair.
The way she says it, the way it slides under your skin, the way it makes your chest squeeze, makes you feel fucking stupid for believing, even for a second, that maybe she really had forgotten you.
Your fingers tighten around the screwdriver.
She’s playing with you.
And the worst part?
You let her.
You don’t turn. Don’t face her. Don’t give her the satisfaction.
But your voice is quieter when you say, “Why do you even care?”
Another pause.
Then—
“Maybe I don’t.”
Your stomach drops.
It’s so fucking typical. Just when you think she’s giving you something, just when she pulls you an inch closer, she yanks it away.
You clench your jaw, inhale sharply, force yourself to stay still.
And then—because you refuse to let her win this—you huff a soft laugh, shaking your head. “Right. Of course.”
You finish tightening the last screw, closing the panel, standing up. You finally turn to her, tilting your head slightly, forcing something light onto your face, like you’re fine, like she isn’t doing what she always fucking does.
“Well,” you say, slipping the screwdriver back into your bag. “It’s been great catching up, but I have shit to do.”
You move to step past her.
But she shifts, blocking your path.
Not aggressively. Not obviously.
Just enough.
Just enough that you have to stop.
Just enough that you have to look at her.
Paige licks her lips, considering you, and her voice is quieter this time, almost thoughtful. “You don’t like when I do that, do you?”
Your stomach tightens.
You keep your face neutral. “Do what?”
She tilts her head slightly. “Give you something, then take it away.”
You swallow.
Because the fact that she’s saying it out loud—naming it, acknowledging it—makes your chest squeeze so hard it’s almost painful.
You force a shrug. “You do whatever you want, Paige.”
You step around her, adjusting the strap of your bag like the conversation hasn’t just sunk claws into your spine, like you aren’t already burning up from the inside out. You throw one last casual glance over your shoulder, just to make a point, just to show her this doesn’t fucking matter.
And then—
“Is he your boyfriend?”
It’s smooth, deliberate, cutting through the silence with the ease of a well-placed knife.
Your body goes rigid.
Not enough to be noticeable. Not enough to give her the satisfaction. But she notices.
You school your face into something neutral before turning back to her. “Yeah.”
The second the word leaves your mouth, Paige scoffs. Then—slow, quiet, like she’s really thinking about it—she laughs.
It’s not loud. It’s not obvious. But it hits.
It slides under your skin, needles into your chest, presses against something raw and unsettled.
You know exactly what she’s laughing at.
Not at Eli, not really.
She’s laughing at you.
At the fact that you’re standing here, pretending like that word doesn’t feel foreign in your mouth, like it doesn’t taste like something you don’t quite believe.
At the fact that you’ve spent months throwing yourself into a version of reality where he is the answer.
At the fact that she knows—she fucking knows—that if he really was, you wouldn’t be here.
Your throat tightens.
You square your shoulders. “Something funny?”
Paige shakes her head, smirk barely there, but sharp. “Nah.” A pause, her gaze flicking over you like she’s amused, like she’s bored. “Just wasn’t expecting that.”
Your fingers curl around the strap of your bag, tight enough to sting.
She tilts her head slightly. “Does he know you’re here?”
You force your jaw not to clench. “Why would it matter?”
Paige hums, the sound lazy, almost dismissive. “It wouldn’t.”
You don’t know why that lands deeper than it should, why it hits like something solid in your chest.
She doesn’t fucking care.
You exhale sharply, roll your shoulders, force yourself to act like you don’t feel like she just pressed a finger right against something bruised inside you.
“Well,” you say, tone light, detached, like this whole conversation hasn’t just put a fucking stone in your stomach, “great catching up.”
And this time, when you walk out—when you force your feet to move, when you push through the door into the cooler hallway air—you don’t look back.
You don’t have to.
Because you can still feel her there.
Still hear the low echo of her laugh.
Still fucking feel her.
And you hate that it still makes your chest tighten.
The locker room door swings shut behind you, but the conversation doesn’t leave with it.
It sticks.
It clings to your skin, coils in your stomach, presses into your ribs like something sharp and unshakable.
You walk down the hallway fast, like you can outrun the weight of her laugh in your ears, like you can erase the way she looked at you when she said that’s your boyfriend?—like the words weren’t just words, like they were something else, something heavier, something soaked in disbelief and mockery.
You should be over her by now.
But then why does your skin still burn? Why does your pulse still hammer against the inside of your wrist? Why does the way she said it—casual, unbothered, like it didn’t even fucking matter—make something in you want to break?
The night stretches out after that, long and restless. You try to study, but you can’t focus. You try to sleep, but every time you close your eyes, she’s there. Her smirk. Her scoff. The way she laughed like you were a joke. Like he was a joke.
You spend the next week avoiding places where you might run into her, avoiding anywhere that makes you feel like a live wire, avoiding thinking about her—
And it works.
Until it doesn’t.
Because the thing about Paige Bueckers is that she has a way of creeping back in, of making herself known, of pulling you back into her orbit whether you want to be there or not.
It happens at another party.
A packed house, music pulsing through the walls, the kind of night where people are drinking like they’re trying to forget something, where everything feels just a little too loud, a little too bright, a little too much.
You’re standing in the kitchen, fingers curled around a red cup, Eli close behind you, talking to someone you don’t know. His hand is warm where it rests on your hip, an absentminded touch, a casual claim.
It’s fine.
You’re fine.
Until you’re not.
Until your eyes flicker past the crowd, past the shifting bodies and pulsing bass, past the open doorway—
And land right on her.
Paige is in the next room, leaning against the wall, head tilted, that lazy, practiced ease draped over her like armor. She’s watching something—someone. A girl. Pretty. Brunette. Standing too close, laughter spilling past glossy lips as she hangs on whatever Paige just said.
Paige isn’t even touching her. Doesn’t need to. Just standing there, looking, smirking, waiting. And the worst part? You know exactly what she’s doing.
Like she could have her if she wanted.
Like it’s not even a fucking question.
Your stomach knots, tight and hot. Not with jealousy—no, it’s worse than that. It’s recognition.
Because you know what it’s like to be on the other side of that look.
You know what it’s like to be wanted by her.
The ghost of it slams into you like a fist to the ribs—how it felt to have those eyes locked on you, sharp and knowing, pinning you down like a game she was already winning. How it felt when she had you right there and she knew it.
Your grip tightens around your cup, fingers digging in like it’s the only thing holding you together. Your breath stutters, the air too thick, the room suddenly too small.
She hasn’t seen you yet.
She’s too caught up in her game, too wrapped up in not caring.
So you do the same.
You force yourself to turn back to Eli, to play your part. You smile, lean into his touch, let him press his lips to your temple like it’s easy, like it’s nothing. Like it means something.
And maybe it works.
Maybe it doesn’t.
Because when you chance another glance—just for a second—
Paige is already looking at you.
And this time—
She smirks.
Slow. Deliberate. Like she’s been waiting for you to look. Like she knows exactly what she’s doing. Like she knows exactly how much space she still takes up in your fucking head.
And that’s when you snap.
You don’t think.
You move.
Your cup clatters onto the counter, liquid sloshing over the rim, but you don’t care. You slip out of Eli’s reach, push through the crowd—away, anywhere, somewhere with air that doesn’t taste like her.
Your pulse is a riot, hammering against your ribs, deafening in your ears as you shove past people pressed against walls, past laughter and voices swallowed by the music, past the tight, choking heat in your chest.
Your hands are shaking. Your breath is uneven. You need a second.
Just one fucking second to breathe—
And then—
A door swings open, and suddenly—
She’s right there.
Paige.
Still smirking.
Still looking like she has all the time in the world.
Still making your stomach feel like it’s caving in on itself.
Your chest rises and falls too fast, heat crawling up your neck, pooling low in your stomach, everywhere.
She leans against the doorway, casual as ever, the light behind her casting long shadows over the sharp angles of her face. She looks obnoxiously good, like she knows exactly how lethal she is.
She tilts her head. “What’s wrong?” she murmurs, voice low, teasing, like she already knows the answer.
And fuck her.
Fuck her for this.
For knowing you this well.
For still knowing you this well.
You shove past her, shoulder knocking against hers, but she moves at the last second, stepping just enough to block you—
And then—her hand.
Fingers curling around your wrist. Not hard. Not pulling. Just there.
You suck in a sharp breath.
She’s not holding you here. Not keeping you against your will.
But she doesn’t let go.
And neither do you.
The air between you crackles, thick, heavy, dangerous. The weight of something unsaid presses into your ribs, clinging to your skin, wrapping around you like a fucking chokehold.
Paige watches you.
And this time—
She doesn’t laugh.
She doesn’t smirk.
She waits.
And maybe—just maybe—
This time, you’re the one who moves first.
The space between you is electric, charged, something twisting tight in your chest like a live wire ready to snap. The hallway is dim, shadows stretching long against the walls, muffling the noise of the party outside, trapping you in this thing you’ve been running from for months.
Paige’s fingers are still around your wrist, not tight, not forcing—just there, anchoring you, keeping you from bolting like you probably should. Her eyes flicker over your face, searching, waiting, and fuck, you hate how easily she does this, how effortlessly she pulls you back into her gravity like you were never gone at all.
Your breath is uneven. Your pulse is pounding in your throat, but your voice is steady when you say, “What game are you playing at?”
She blinks, just once, slow and measured. Then the corner of her mouth curves, something smug, something dangerous. “Don’t you have a boyfriend?”
Your stomach drops, rage curling up into your throat so fast it makes your vision go sharp.
You shove her.
Harder than you should, more than just frustration, more than just anger. It’s months of this—of her pushing, pulling, giving you something and then acting like it never fucking happened. It’s her laugh in the locker room, her smirk at the game, the way she looked at you through the crowd like she was daring you to react, to feel. It’s all of it—the way she still owns you and acts like she doesn’t even care.
Paige stumbles back a step, but her hand never leaves you.
Instead, she grabs your other arm, fingers tight around your biceps, steadying herself, steadying you. Her grip is firm, strong, the heat of her palms burning through your sleeves.
Her smirk is gone.
And when she speaks again, her voice is different. Lower. Rougher.
“I’m not playing at a game.”
Your breath catches.
Because it’s not cocky. It’s not teasing. It’s real.
Her hands flex slightly on your arms, like she’s bracing herself, like she needs you to hear this.
And you do.
It sinks under your skin, gets lodged somewhere between your ribs, breaks something open inside of you that you’ve been trying to keep sealed shut.
Your heart is hammering. Your whole body is buzzing, tight, waiting.
Paige is still holding you.
And she’s so fucking close.
You can feel her breath against your lips, can see the flicker in her eyes, the way her chest is rising and falling just as fast as yours.
You don’t know who moves first.
Maybe it’s her. Maybe it’s you. Maybe it’s both of you at the same fucking time, colliding like you were never meant to be anything but this.
Your mouths crash together, hot and desperate, months of tension unraveling all at once, burning through every nerve in your body.
Paige exhales sharply against you, hands tightening around your arms before sliding up, up, framing your face, pulling you deeper into it, like she’s afraid you might disappear again.
You fist the fabric of her hoodie, dragging her into you, needing her closer, needing more.
Her body presses against yours, her lips insistent, rough, a little reckless, like she’s been waiting for this just as long as you have.
The hallway feels too small, the walls too close, your hands too desperate where they roam—her waist, her shoulders, the sharp edge of her jaw.
Paige groans softly against your mouth, and it wrecks you.
It fucking destroys you.
Because it’s real.
Because she wants this.
Because for the first time, she’s not taking it away.
You don’t stop.
Neither does she.
It’s all heat, all breath, all want. Paige’s mouth is rough, greedy, like she’s making up for every second you’ve spent apart, every time she pretended she didn’t see you, every time she smirked at you like this was just a game. Her hands are everywhere—your waist, your back, gripping the fabric of your shirt like she’d die if she let go.
You’re no better.
Your fingers fist in her hoodie, tugging her closer, dragging her against you, needing her body against yours, needing her to feel what she’s doing to you. The hallway barely exists anymore—the party, the noise, Eli—none of it fucking matters. Just her. Just her mouth, her hands, the way she kisses you like she’s starving for it.
Then, between kisses, between desperate little gasps, she murmurs it.
“I need you, baby.”
It wrecks you.
Fucking destroys you.
The word slips out easy, unthinking, raw. Not teasing, not smug, not calculated. Just real.
Your breath catches.
Paige must feel the way your body reacts, the way your nails dig into her arms, the way your hips press forward into hers, because she groans against your mouth and drags her teeth over your bottom lip.
You’re moving before you can think.
Paige is pushing you, guiding you back, back, until your shoulder blades hit a door, until she’s fumbling with the handle, barely breaking the kiss long enough to shove it open.
The room is dark, empty. Some random spare bedroom, barely furnished, barely even fucking registered because the second the door slams shut, Paige is on you again.
Her hands slide under your shirt, rough palms dragging up your ribs, fingertips pressing hard, desperate. Your breath is uneven, your body thrumming with something electric, something you can’t stop, something you don’t want to stop.
You don’t think.
You don’t need to think.
You just pull her hoodie up over her head, fingers tangling in the fabric for a second before it’s gone, discarded somewhere on the floor. Paige exhales sharply as you press into her, as your mouth moves against her jaw, down her throat, tasting, taking.
Her fingers slip into your hair, tugging just enough to make you feel it, enough to make you moan against her skin.
“Fuck,” she mutters, voice rough, breathless, like she’s unraveling, like you’re doing this to her.
You are.
And she fucking loves it.
Her hands move lower, sliding over your hips, gripping tight, like she’s anchoring herself, like she can’t stop touching you, like she’s making sure you’re real.
You kiss her again, harder, messier, pushing her back until her legs hit the edge of the bed, until you’re both toppling onto it, tangled together, all mouths and hands and heat.
Paige knows she’s winning.
You can see it in her eyes, the slow drag of them over your body, the way she takes her time, drinking in every reaction like she’s cataloging them, memorizing what makes you shiver, what makes you squirm, what makes your breath hitch in your throat.
She still likes the game.
She still likes to play.
But this time, she isn’t letting you pull away.
This time, she’s going to take everything.
Her fingers skim over your stomach, slow, teasing, just enough to make you feel it but not enough to satisfy anything. Her mouth follows, lips pressing soft, lingering kisses down, down, down, like she has all the time in the world.
Your head tilts back against the pillows, eyes fluttering shut, but then she stops.
She stops completely.
The heat of her, the weight of her, everything—just gone.
Your eyes snap open, and she’s just looking at you, smug, comfortable, settled between your legs like she owns this moment, like she knows she has you right where she wants you.
Her fingers trail up your thigh, featherlight, barely there.
“You want this?”
Your stomach clenches.
She knows the answer.
She fucking knows.
You glare at her, shifting under her touch, frustrated, dizzy, so strung out you can barely think. “Paige—”
She smiles. Slow. Wicked.
And then, just as easily, “Say it.”
Your breath shudders out of you.
Because this?
This is her game.
She wants to hear you admit it. She wants to make you admit it.
She wants you to lose.
Your fingers dig into the sheets, your pulse a steady riot in your throat, in your wrists, between your legs where she still hasn’t fucking touched you.
But you can’t play this game forever.
Not when she already owns you.
Not when she already knows.
Your voice is thin when you say it.
“I want you.”
And the second the words leave your mouth—
She moves.
Paige grins, low and satisfied, and then she finally stops playing.
She knows she has you, like she’s been waiting for this moment, dragging it out, savoring every second of watching you come undone beneath her. She doesn’t rush. She doesn’t give you everything all at once. No, she takes her time, letting her fingers trace the curve of your hip, pressing light, teasing kisses down your stomach, exhaling slow like she’s enjoying this, like this is just as much for her as it is for you.
You’re burning alive.
Your breath is uneven, your hands twisting in the sheets, thighs already trembling with the anticipation of her next move. But she doesn’t move—not in the way you need her to.
Instead, she just looks at you.
From between your legs, eyes dark, lips parted, expression unreadable, like she’s still deciding how she wants to do this.
Your stomach clenches.
“Paige—”
She presses a kiss to the inside of your thigh, slow, deliberate, her nails digging in just slightly when she grips your hips, holding you in place.
“Shh, baby,” she murmurs, and fuck, there it is again.
That word.
Casual, unthinking, sliding out of her mouth like she doesn’t even realize she’s saying it. Like she means it.
You shudder.
Paige notices. Of course, she does.
Her smirk curves against your skin, and then—
She finally stops playing.
The first press of her mouth sends a raw, electric jolt through you, your hips jerking up on instinct, fingers clawing into her hair like you’ll die if you let go. But she’s already moving—already fucking dragging this out like she wants you begging, like she’s savoring every second of your desperation. Her tongue flickers, slow and teasing, pressing, stroking, curling, soaking you with her hunger, her need.
She moans against your cunt like she’s been fucking starving for it. Like she’s been waiting, aching, dreaming of this moment for weeks, and now that she’s got you open beneath her, there’s no way she’s letting you go easy.
She drags it out.
Like she wants to ruin you.
Like she wants to tear you apart and put you back together with her tongue.
Your nails scrape against her scalp, hard enough to hurt, but she only groans, only pushes deeper, her tongue slipping, flicking, thrusting into the dripping heat of you. You’re gasping now, thighs trembling, back arching, breath catching in desperate, broken moans you can’t even bite back. You can feel her smirk, the way she’s reveling in it, the way she’s enjoying every single fucking sound you make for her.
Her fingers press in, spreading you, holding you open, her tongue working, her lips sucking, teasing, devouring—like she’s trying to drink every last drop of you. The obscene, wet sounds of her mouth on you make you whimper, make you grind down against her, make you clutch her hair so tight she groans into your slick heat.
Your body is shaking.
Paige tightens her grip, keeps you there, keeps you spread for her, keeps you exactly where she wants you—helpless, ruined, fucking wrecked on her tongue.
And just when you think you can’t take it anymore—just when the pleasure coils so tight in your stomach it’s about to snap—she fucking speeds up.
And you’re gone.
You don’t know if you scream her name. You don’t know if you sob it. But the pleasure detonates inside you like a fucking bomb, ripping through your body, setting every nerve on fire, leaving you shaking, gasping, falling apart beneath her mouth.
When you finally come back down—breathless, wrecked, soaked and still trembling—Paige is looking up at you from between your legs, her lips swollen, her chin glistening, her eyes dark and wicked.
Paige’s brow quirks up and she wipes her mouth with the back of her hand, slow and deliberate, her eyes never leaving yours. You’re still gasping, still trembling, your body melted into the mattress, legs spread, thighs twitching from the aftershocks of what she just did to you. But she doesn’t move away. Doesn’t crawl up to lie beside you, doesn’t give you a second to catch your breath.
She licks her lips, smirks, and says, “I’m not done with you.”
And then she’s moving.
Crawling back up onto the bed, her body sliding over yours, her hands gripping your thighs, spreading you wider before she finally lets her weight press down. Her skin is hot, slick, her breath heavy and sweet, her thigh slotting between yours as she pins you there beneath her.
Then she grabs your tits.
No teasing, no hesitation—she palms them, squeezes, kneads, rolling the soft flesh in her hands like she owns you, like she’s claiming every inch of you all over again. Her thumbs flick over your nipples, once, twice, before she leans down and takes one into her mouth.
The heat of her tongue, the wet pull of her lips—it makes you cry out, makes you arch into her, makes your hands fly up to grip her head as she sucks, hard, her teeth scraping just enough to make your whole body jolt.
“Fuck,” you whimper, thighs clenching around her, but she just chuckles against your skin, her mouth latching onto your other nipple, her fingers tweaking and rolling the one she just left wet and swollen.
Then her hand moves up.
She grabs your chin, tilts your face up, and before you can even process it—
She shoves her fingers into your mouth.
Her fingers, still wet from you, slip past your lips, pressing against your tongue, forcing you to taste yourself as she pushes them deeper. Your lips part around them, your tongue curling against the salty-slick heat of her touch, a soft, helpless whimper slipping from your throat.
Paige groans at the sight, eyes dark, lips parted, her fingers flexing inside your mouth before she pulls them out—
And spits.
Right into your mouth.
A hot, wet drop onto your waiting tongue, mixing with your taste, with the slickness she just forced you to swallow.
“Swallow it,” she breathes, her voice thick, rough, her fingers trailing down your throat as you do exactly what she fucking tells you.
And then her hand is between your legs again, fingers slipping through your soaked, throbbing heat, pressing in, pushing deep—
Fucking you all over again.
Paige’s fingers drive deep, knuckles sinking into the wet heat of you, her palm grinding against your swollen clit as you gasp, as you choke on the pleasure, your body arching into her touch like you can’t help it. Like you’re made for this. Made for her.
"Fuck—yeah," she groans, watching you, watching the way your body reacts to her. "You feel that? Feel how fucking good I make you take it?"
Your breath stutters, your hips rolling down against her hand, your mouth falling open, nothing but desperate little whimpers spilling from your lips.
Paige smirks, dark and wicked, pressing in deeper, curling her fingers just right, just enough to have you fucking shaking. "Bet he never got you this wet, huh?" she taunts, her voice thick with heat, with possession. "Bet he never made you moan like this."
Your fingers clutch at her shoulders, nails digging in, your head tilting back against the pillows as she fucks into you, slow but deep, deliberate, like she’s making a point. Like she’s proving something.
"You wanna lie to me?" she murmurs, lips brushing your ear, her breath hot against your skin. "Wanna tell me he’s ever made you come like this? That he’s ever had you dripping down his fingers like a desperate little slut?"
You whimper, shaking your head, unable to speak, unable to do anything but take it.
"That’s what I thought," she breathes, grinning against your throat, her teeth scraping over your pulse before she drags her tongue along your skin. "That little boyfriend of yours wouldn’t know what to do with this pussy if it fucking begged him."
She pulls her fingers out, slow and teasing, leaving you empty, aching—only to shove them back in, hard, deep, her palm slapping against your soaked skin as you sob, as you fucking fall apart.
"He ever make you scream?" she growls, fucking you rougher, faster, her fingers pressing against that spot inside you that makes your whole body jolt. "He ever make you soak the sheets like this?"
Your back bows, pleasure slamming through you, your nails raking down her back.
"You’re fucking mine," Paige groans, her mouth on your jaw, your throat, her tongue tasting the sweat on your skin. "This pussy? It’s mine now. Say it."
You barely manage to breathe out the words—"It’s yours"—before she presses her palm against your clit, her fingers curling just right, and you break.
Pleasure rips through you, white-hot and shattering, your whole body shaking, your vision going hazy as you come, as Paige fucks you through it, as she watches you, revels in it, grins like she just fucking ruined you.
And she did.
She fucking did.
——-
You wake slowly, the kind of slow that doesn’t feel like rest. The kind that feels like being pulled from something deep and heavy, like your body’s been wrung out and put back together all wrong. The sheets are soft, warm, unfamiliar, and there’s a weight draped over your hip—solid, steady, too much. Your breath stutters before your brain even catches up.
Paige.
She’s there.
Heat ghosts against the back of your neck, steady and unhurried, the rhythm of her breathing lulling, like sleep still has a hold on her. Her arm is slung around your waist, fingers curled lazily against your stomach, like she belongs there. Like she’s never left before.
And that—that is what makes your chest tighten.
Because this isn’t just some drunken mistake. This isn’t heat or tension or something you can chalk up to unresolved bullshit. This is her in your space, in your bed, in the quiet after. And she’s never stayed before.
Your pulse kicks up, your fingers twitch against the sheets. Last night slams into you all at once—the scrape of her teeth, the press of her hands, the way she looked at you, like she was done playing. Like she wasn’t giving you a choice anymore.
Your stomach clenches.
You don’t know what to do with this.
With her.
So you move, slow, careful, trying not to wake her as you shift out from under her arm. But the second you pull away, Paige stirs, her breath hitching, her grip tightening for just a fraction of a second before her eyes flutter open.
She blinks at you, still groggy, still soft, and for one, dangerous moment, she doesn’t say anything.
She just looks at you.
And you can’t breathe.
Then, just as quickly as it came, the softness vanishes.
Paige stretches, rolls onto her back, runs a hand through her hair, like she does this all the time, like she’s just woken up from any other night, not this one.
“Morning,” she mutters, voice rough with sleep.
You swallow, force yourself to move, force yourself to sit up and swing your legs off the bed. You don’t look at her.
“Yeah,” you say, clearing your throat. “Morning.”
You feel her watching you.
Feel her waiting.
For what, you don’t know.
But when you stand, reaching for your clothes, Paige finally speaks again.
“You leaving?”
Your fingers curl into the fabric of your shirt.
You could stay. You could let this morning linger, let whatever this is stretch out just a little longer.
But the longer you stay, the harder it’ll be to pretend like this isn’t something.
So you nod, still not looking at her. “Yeah.”
Paige exhales through her nose, shifts behind you, and you expect her to let it go, to brush it off like she always does.
Instead—
“You gonna tell him?”
Your stomach drops.
You don’t need to ask who she means.
Eli.
The name rings in your head like a warning, like something cold and sharp, and you hate that she’s the one who brought it up, that she’s the one forcing you to look at it when you were this close to just leaving without dealing with the weight of it.
You squeeze your eyes shut for half a second before turning to face her.
Paige is propped up on one elbow now, watching you with something unreadable in her expression, like she’s testing you, like she’s seeing if you’ll break first.
You lick your lips, pulse hammering. “That’s none of your business.”
Paige’s lips twitch, and for a second, you think she’s going to let it go.
But then—
She scoffs. Shakes her head. Leans back against the headboard with a lazy, almost bored kind of smirk.
“Right. Forgot you’re still playing house with him.”
Your whole body goes rigid.
She’s doing it again.
Tugging at you, pushing you, seeing what you’ll do.
Your jaw clenches, fingers fisting into the hem of your shirt. “I’m not playing anything.”
Paige hums, unconvinced. “Sure. Whatever helps you sleep at night.”
Something inside you snaps.
Because how dare she?
How dare she act like you’re the one playing games when she’s the one who ignored you for three months? When she’s the one who smirked at you across a fucking stadium like she knew she had you? When she’s the one who—
You exhale sharply, shaking your head, forcing yourself to breathe.
This is exactly what she wants.
So you don’t give it to her.
You pull your shirt over your head, reach for your shoes, straighten up.
Then, voice even, you say, “This didn’t mean anything, right?”
It’s a test.
You can see the flicker in her eyes, the quick way her throat bobs as she swallows.
But it’s gone in an instant.
Paige shrugs, casual, careless, like she’s already over it.
“Right,” she echoes. “Just a good time.”
Your chest tightens.
You don’t know what answer you wanted, but that—
That wasn’t it.
You nod once, sharp, then turn for the door.
And this time, you don’t fucking stop.
The door slams behind you, the force of it rattling down your spine, but you don’t stop moving.
You storm down the hallway, your breath sharp, hands curled into fists, every nerve in your body buzzing like a live wire. You don’t let yourself think. Thinking would mean feeling, and you can’t—won’t—give her that.
Not after what she just said.
Not after this didn’t mean anything, right?
Not after she agreed with you.
Just a good time.
That’s all it was. That’s all she wants.
You push through the front door, stepping into the cold air outside, your breath coming fast, too shallow, like you just ran ten miles. You shove your hands into the front pocket of your hoodie, fingers curling against the fabric, trying to ground yourself, trying to—
Your phone rings.
Or at least, you think it’s your phone.
The vibration against your palm jolts you, and you pull it out, ready to decline the call, ready to shut the entire fucking world out.
But then—
You see the name.
Taylor.
Your breath catches.
Your chest tightens.
The cold bites at your skin, but suddenly, it’s like everything else stops.
Because this isn’t your phone.
This isn’t your hoodie.
You look down at yourself, the oversized sleeves, the familiar weight of the fabric, the scent clinging to it—her scent.
Paige’s hoodie.
Paige’s fucking phone.
And Taylor is calling.
Your stomach lurches.
Right back where you started.
The phone keeps ringing, vibrating steadily in your hand, demanding something from you that you can’t give.
You stare at the screen, at the name that shouldn’t be your problem, at the proof of what Paige just walked away from.
And something inside you snaps.
You spin on your heel, shoving back through the front door, retracing your steps, moving fast, fueled by something you don’t even have a name for.
You don’t knock.
You don’t hesitate.
You shove the door open, expecting her to be there, expecting her to still be sitting on that bed with her legs spread and that fucking look on her face, smug and satisfied and untouchable.
But she’s gone.
Just fucking gone.
Like she was never here at all.
The phone stops ringing.
Silence.
You stand there, chest heaving, hoodie too big on you, your fingers still curled around a phone that doesn’t belong to you.
Tumblr media
The phone is still warm in your hand.
It shouldn’t matter. It’s just a piece of plastic, just a screen with a name that shouldn’t be your problem. But it is. The weight of it presses against your palm, solid and damning, the name Taylor burned into your retinas, a fucking mockery of everything that just happened.
Paige left.
Vanished like this was nothing, like she didn’t just dig her fingers into you and pull you under, like she didn’t just whisper your name against your skin, like she didn’t just look you in the eye and say just a good time before slipping away like a fucking ghost.
Like she didn’t just ruin you.
And if she thinks she gets to walk away from this untouched—
She’s wrong.
Your feet move before your brain even catches up, before you can think about how reckless this is, before you can stop yourself from doing exactly what she wants. Because you already know where she is.
Where she always is.
The athletic facility is quieter than usual this late at night, the halls dimly lit, silent except for the distant hum of vending machines and the soft squeak of your shoes against the polished floors. But the second you push through the doors to the locker room—
The silence shatters.
Laughter.
Voices overlapping, casual, easy, still thrumming from practice, still buzzing with energy. The kind of normalcy that makes your blood boil, because your world is fucking spinning and yet—
She’s here.
Paige is here.
Leaning against the lockers, towel draped around her neck, a lazy grin curling at her lips as she listens to something one of the girls is saying. Loose. Relaxed. Unbothered.
Like she didn’t just leave you standing in the wreckage she made.
Heat slams into your ribs, a pulse of something violent and ugly crackling under your skin. Your fingers tighten around the phone, nails digging in, breath sharp and unsteady. And before you even fully register what you’re doing—
You move.
The door swings shut behind you with a slam, the force of it cutting through the noise, making heads turn, making conversation die mid-sentence.
Paige doesn’t move.
Doesn’t flinch.
But her shoulders go rigid for half a second before she shifts—casual, calm, fucking unhurried.
Like she already knows it’s you.
Like she felt you coming before she even looked.
And when she finally does—
The smirk is already forming.
Already settling into place like armor. Like a mask. Like she thinks she still has control of this.
But she doesn’t.
You stop in front of her, too close, way too close, enough to make the other girls shift where they stand, enough to make the laughter fully die out, enough to make the air feel thick.
Paige stays leaned against the lockers, pretending, but her eyes flicker over you, sharp and calculating.
Assessing.
Waiting.
So you don’t make her wait long.
You lift the phone, hold it up between you. Let her see it. Let her know why you’re here.
And then—voice low, rough, barely steady under the weight of your fucking anger—
“You think you can just fuck me and play me while your girlfriend still calls?”
The reaction is instant.
The shift in the room is immediate.
Someone swears under their breath. One of the girls lets out a quiet oh, shit. Another shifts awkwardly, eyes darting between you and Paige like they just walked into a fucking war zone.
But you don’t look at any of them.
You only see her.
And Paige—
For the first time, she doesn’t have a comeback.
Her lips part slightly. Her throat bobs as she swallows. Her fingers twitch just slightly around the towel slung over her shoulder.
It’s subtle.
Barely there.
But you see it.
The hesitation.
The way she’s trying to catch up to you, trying to find the right move, trying to figure out how to pull back control.
But there isn’t one.
Because this time, you’re the one leading.
This time, she’s the one who doesn’t know what to say.
The silence stretches, thick and suffocating, pressing into your ribs, into your throat, into her.
Then—slowly—Paige exhales through her nose, shifts against the lockers, expression smoothing into something blank, something unreadable.
She tilts her head slightly, eyes flickering over your face, voice deceptively soft when she says—
“You done?”
Your stomach twists.
Not with pain. Not with embarrassment.
With rage.
Because she isn’t sorry.
She isn’t guilty.
She’s just pissed that you called her out in front of them.
Your grip tightens around the phone, your pulse hammering in your ears, and for a second, you think about throwing it at her.
Then, just as quickly, you step forward—lean in close, so only she can hear—
And whisper, voice like a knife—
“You’re a fucking coward.”
Paige’s jaw locks.
Her whole body tenses.
And that—
That’s how you know you landed a hit.
You hold her gaze a second longer, long enough to make sure she felt it, long enough to see the way her breath catches, the way her fingers twitch, the way she’s fighting to stay still.
Then—
Without waiting for a response—
You shove the phone against her chest.
She catches it automatically, fingers closing around it, but she doesn’t look down.
She just looks at you.
Expression unreadable.
Eyes sharp, dark, burning.
You should look away first.
You should be the one to turn and walk out.
But you don’t.
You hold her gaze.
Daring her.
Challenging her.
Waiting.
For what, you don’t fucking know.
But you can feel it.
Feel something shifting, feel something breaking, feel something coming.
And for the first time—
You think Paige might feel it, too.
But then—
She swallows.
Nods once.
Slips the phone into her pocket like it doesn’t matter.
Then—voice low, smooth, too fucking even—
She says, “See you around.”
Like this was nothing.
Like she didn’t just lose.
Like she’s already planning how to fucking win.
This is war.

Hello! I saw your homicipher requests were open, and I wanted to request some general mr scarletella fluff if possible! :D
⊱ General Fluffy Headcanons ⊰ || Mr. Scarletella Headcanons
╭─━━━━━━━━━━━━─╮ Character(s): Mr. Scarletella (Homicipher/文字化化) Reader Type: Human (Gender-Neutral Pronouns) Warning(s): Canon-typical Mentions of Violence (and horror-elements), Unhealthy Obsession/Possessiveness, Cultural Barriers (Mr. Scarletella Doesn’t Fully Comprehend Certain Emotions/Expresses Them Differently Than a Human Would). Genre: Headcanons, Fluff, Romantic or Platonic Relationship (It’s Complicated, honestly). Word Count: ~900 words Request: “Hello! I saw your homicipher requests were open, and I wanted to request some general mr scarletella fluff if possible! :D” Author’s Note: I’ll be honest with y’all, writing straight-up fluff for these characters is really hard to do lmao. I try to stay as canon-compliant as possible (it’s low-key a curse, but it’s such a great way to practice writing 😔), so I hope these are fluffy enough for you given, well… the source material as a whole haha. Mr. Scarletella wasn’t originally one of my favorite characters from the game, but he’s honestly starting to grow on me at a concerning speed – shout-out to all the artists on Twitter who have added to my enjoyment of this man. ✌️

🩸: Whenever it rains, Mr. Scarletella is always standing right there next to you, holding his red umbrella over your form so you do not become drenched because of the dreary weather. He takes his job very seriously, too, not minding how cold water causes his clothing to cling to his already deathly cold skin. He does it with an ever-present smile, too, watching you with unblinking eyes while he happily follows you around. Mr. Scarletella doesn’t get cold, he typically doesn’t feel any physical sensation in the first place, so getting a little wet while being able to keep you dry is something he doesn’t mind doing for you. If you invite him to join you under the umbrella, he falters for a bit before eventually standing next to you, shielding both of you from the rain (he loves being able to stand that close to you – he can almost feel the warmth radiating from you, and he finds himself craving it even after the two of you have found somewhere to take shelter).
🩸: If there’s something you express an interest in, whether or not Mr. Scarletella is around when you make the off-handed comment, you’ll wake up to it lying right in front of your door. It’s honestly a bit creepy sometimes, just waking up to the article of clothing you looked at for longer than three seconds or the book whose title you briefly mentioned sitting at your feet when you open the door. In the past, any gift he left used to just be haphazardly placed in front of the door, and it reminded you of when a cat would catch a mouse and bring it to their owner (you’re not going to talk about the time you woke up to a literal human heart waiting for you, though…). However, Mr. Scarletella noticed that humans who exchanged gifts typically had them wrapped in paper, so he started to mimic their behavior, too, in the hopes you would like them more. Sure, his wrap-jobs were bad, almost hilariously so, but it was the thought that mattered.
🩸: Whenever he looks at you, his pupils further dilate (even more than they usually are – it’s almost to the point where his entire eye is purely black, the red of his irises lost in the dark void of his gaze). Mr. Scarletella loves being able to just look at you, needing nothing more in life. He’ll watch you with an unblinking stare while you do literally anything. Whether it be cleaning your home or making yourself a meal, he will observe you as if you were the most interesting thing to have ever existed. As stated before, Mr. Scarletella is very good at mimicking human behaviors so, sometimes, he’ll ask if he can join you in whatever task you’re doing. He’ll copy the way you clean the floors or perfectly execute chopping the vegetables for the dish you were making after showing him what to do a single time. He’s very pleasant to be with during moments like these since he’s very good at acting like a human most of the time (other times, though – say if you need something from the top shelf – his body will twist and morph in very unsettling ways... It just emphasizes that, even if he’s good at pretending, he still isn’t human at the end of the day).
🩸: Being with Mr. Scarletella means that you cannot have an unserious relationship, it’s just not in his vocabulary (because he’s obsessive, especially regarding you). He’s devoted to you entirely – body, mind, and soul – gladly letting you have the red umbrella to do with it whatever you wish. He’ll shiver slightly whenever you hold it in your hands, your touch is so strangely gentle as you softly run your fingers along the handle or press a kiss to the unassuming object. It hurts but in a different way. A part of him wishes you would just throw the umbrella to the ground, dig your heel into it, and have him experience a pain that was easier for him to understand… but you don’t. He loves your sweet touches, even if it’s painful and causes his chest to ache. He finds himself wishing he could touch you in that way, too, his ghost-like caresses causing your skin to tingle with static whenever his feather-light hands graze over your flesh (he loves cuddles and loving touches, even if he can’t experience them with you in a conventional sense).
🩸: If you ever find yourself being bothered by someone who won’t leave you alone or someone who won’t take no for an answer, well… they may or may not end up missing. If you don’t want Mr. Scarletella to take care of anyone who is bothering you for you, you’ll definitely have to explain that it’s not appropriate because of the differences in your cultures – death and murder are common in the other world, after all (I’d also explain to him that he cannot harm or threaten people you care about, either, since he honestly wants you all to himself). This does mean, though, that you know that you’re safe no matter where you are. Mr. Scarletella is always watching you so, if you find yourself in a situation where your safety is at risk, you honestly have nothing to fear. He’ll keep you safe – you’re his love, his world, his reason for living, and he won’t let someone else take that from him.

“Resident Registration Number? Just Girl Things 🥰”
Imagine this: You're on Tumblr, minding your own business, talking about how Jikook literally enlisted in the military through the BUDDY SYSTEM, which requires mutual trust, shared personal details, and—oh yeah—a whole-ass resident registration number. You're having a cute little delusional moment calling them husbands like we all do every other Tuesday. Life is good.
And then BAM — someone crawls into your replies with:
“Um actually 🤓☝🏻 maybe they just asked each other for their RRN casually?? Stop assuming.”
Stop. Assuming.
Babes. This is Tumblr. Not LinkedIn. Not a tax form. If you're new here, let me be the first to welcome you with a healthy dose of “shut up and let us delulu in peace.”
No one here is officiating Jikook’s wedding. We’re not the registrar general of Seoul. We’re just here, in our safe little corner, screaming into the void because two men who have dealt with IDENTITY THEFT and STALKING trusted each other enough to literally share their government-issued ID numbers and enlist together in the military. And some of you really think we’re gonna sit here and go “hmm let’s not read too much into this”? LMAOOO.
“But other friends have done it too!!”
Yes. And guess what? It was special for them too! Just like every couple who gets married isn’t invalidated by someone else also getting married on the same day. Wild concept, I know. Are we supposed to pretend that nothing means anything unless it’s exclusive to Jikook? Are we not allowed to celebrate anything unless it’s tattooed with “first time in history” and stamped by the Korean government?
Let’s also not forget that there are literal articles and testimonies about how friendships fell apart after applying through the buddy system. People out here shoould be glad they're not using RRNs to blackmail former friends. And yet Jungkook—one of the most private people alive—gave that level of access to Jimin. But you’re mad that I mentionned they know each other's RRNs?
Be serious.
And don’t even get me started on the Jikook Police. Y’all show up with your little badges like:
🚨“Are you making assumptions?” 🚨“Are you being too happy about this moment?” 🚨“Are you enjoying your fandom experience wrong?”
YES. YES, I AM. I’m on Tumblr, not in a court of law. I’m not testifying. I’m vibing. If you want “objective neutral fandom experience,” go to a spreadsheet. Or better yet, go back to Twitter where nuance goes to die.
Let me have my fun. Let us have our moment. Let Jikook share RRNs and soul contracts and half of their closet without you rushing in to say “Actually maybe it's not what you think it is.” You’re not fighting misinformation. You’re just fighting serotonin at this point.

You guyyyysssss (fandom rant ahead)
I was off X/Twt for a long time because I switched over to bsky and have generally found it to be a much more positive, small space (like I actually have regular, positive interactions with mutuals rather than just shouting into the void and observing dumpster fires, imagine)
But I hopped back on X these last few weeks to keep a closer eye on the discharge stuff, and because army Twitter still pops off sometimes with HILARIOUS memes and takes and content even if generally it’s a hellscape.
But like.
Good GOD is it a hellscape 😫
Do you guys go on there?? Do you see the crazy?? Has it always been like this??
Like I knew tkkrs acted crazy cause I would get their asks in my inbox, but I guess I’m even more delusional than them cause I really thought the taennie “cosplayer” pics combined with AYS and the enlistment would be a wake up call. Guess not 🙂‍↔️🤣
The other ships are fine because I find it cute and funny — it’s a little weird because I’ve spent so much time in my jikook bubble that I forget that there are genuinely vmin and minimoni and namkook and poly truthers out there and that is so funny and odd to me? But like in an amusing, interesting way. They’re not being dicks about it.
But the solos??? THE SOLOS. That’s the worst part maybe?!?! I went down a rabbit hole y’all and they’re out here talking about Jimin like “he gives too much love to the members, they don’t deserve him, I will never respect them” you mean his best friends?? Like I’m not saying he doesn’t have other friends who he’s closer to and who I’ve never seen, and I’m glad he does! And obviously he doesn’t have the same level of connection with every single BTS member at every single moment! But like… he would choose them over you every single time? And every single member would choose Jimin over their solo stans every time? Like what
There are people out there who really try to protect him from six of his closest connections in the world? Ppl who take it upon themselves to be like “get behind me” to a grown man they’ve NEVER MET in order to protect him from HIS OWN FRIENDS. How do they say it with a straight face??? I’m laughing as I write this???
I dont even mind people being solos. Like. I think the forced-OT7-ication of all BTS fans is kind of silly. Why should we expect every single person who stumbles upon BTS to be equally obsessed with each member, or even value them all? I wish they would, but for some people, they just will never click with all 7 — they find a member they gel with, and they support them alone. Fine. Whatever. But then to go out of their way to hate on the others? To craft narratives where the members hate each other and hold each other back when they so clearly are the happiest as a team? Bro how? Why? What? BTS could have disbanded years ago and they didn’t. They didn’t have to renew and they did. Maybe don’t assume you know more about a literal stranger’s life and situation than they do???
And the crazies hide in plain sight. Because I watched AYS with my IRL friend who is 1) an extremely sweet, clever person and 2) a taekooker (she was targeted as a baby army by the bad algorithms and now she’s sucked in) and watched her say “aw they have such a sibling relationship” when jikook cuddled in bed and then watched her squeal and get butterflies when Tae forced JK’s head onto his shoulder (and I’m not saying anything negative about taekook in that moment but it was far from a cutesie coupley moment, even amongst other AYS taekook moments). I just say that to show how wild perspective can be because she truly saw alllll the jikook antics and chalked it up to friendship and saw 3 moments of taekook coexisting platonically and saw it as a grand romance.
And same for me! Like I ship/support/whatever you want to call it jikook, so that’s the lens through which I viewed AYS and the enlistment and the discharge live and all of it. And sure there are so many people who think I’m crazy for being a real person shipper but at least I’m not denying multiple levels of reality to do so?? And I have a healthy sense of self-doubt?? Idk if jikook are anything more than friends, I *think* they are but they could just be friends and I would be like “ah, okay” because I DON’T KNOW THEM.
Sorry this is such a random rant I’m just… I’m in such shock after doomscrolling on X for like an hour. I need one of those eyeball-washers that’s in a chem lab. I need a juice cleanse. I need to spring clean my brain because what in the anti solo fuck did I just read 😭😭😭
I know this is nothing new. I know if any of my followers read this you’re gonna be in the comments like “Nico it’s always been like this where have you been” but idk I guess I had time away and forgot how bad it was. Stay safe out there for real 🥹

anyways heres some misc jamba cult info from the japanese version of star allies the official translation removed/changed the meaning of i found a couple days back (fan translations can be found here)
-this is implied but misworded in english, the jamba cult worships dark matter rather than be masters of it (this is prob why gooey gets positive nickname privileges from zan on twitter)
-the magic n science ancients old relationship prior to the magic clans ban is explicitly positive in japanese
-english hyness says magic overcame science n reached prosperity, japanese says science n magic could only reach prosperity when together
-for wtv reason, english replaced one of the mentions of the "book of legends" (the book abt void hyness has) w talking abt ambiguous ancient scrolls instead...?
-theres some references to a paradise void will destroy in the japanese screens w that one cult prayer that were cut from english (the second n fourth ones specifically iirc), the sisters guest star screens make references to paradise as well, make of that what you will regarding the religious side of the cult
-most if not all instances of void being called dark lord r used to censor out void being called god/god of destruction in the original version
-pon & cons japanese title (a-un guardian beasts) is a reference to a buddhist concept of beginning n ending, the pause screen states they surrendered to the enemy n thats why theyre doing guard work there, rather than they became cultists off screen between games like one might assume
-japanese hyness uses ~ when talking a lot, while most ppl associate that w a character having a sweet cute voice tone, for him it likely just indicates he tends to drag out the end of words a lot
-fully removed from english, hyness has a complex abt his face, which is why its so well covered
-zans second boss screen in english credits her loyalty to hyness' intoxicating charisma n her sense of duty, while japanese later does canonize she has a strong sense of duty in a different screen, it instead says for the second boss she feels indebted he took her in n is also "enamoured" by his charisma n "admires him from within the heart", quoting the used wording bc i think shes both adorable n so deeply worrisome
-weve all heard the english translation censored zan being heavily implied to have attempted suicide n being saved by hyness after it fails (succeeds?) after shes struck by lightning n nearly dies/gets bought back by him.wtv take on hyness saving the mages you prefer
-zan is never called the eldest of the sisters in the original, just the chief of the trio
-hyness misremembers zans name as zan paruru, a pun on the japanese word for forgotten (wasuraruru), that same pun is used for her boss themes title
-one of zans attacks in japanese is named after the "thunder candies" (type of wagashi) found in kaminarimon, where a statue of the shinto thunder god raijin is found, zans drums used during that same attack r literally based on raijins own drums
-zans first boss screen claims she toys w her enemies through her quick attacks rather than render them helpless like prey.just mentioning bc thats silly n has a slightly new show of her personality that line up w her depiction on the official twitter in a way
-flamberge wasnt taking a break in her second boss fight she was just slacking off n picked a nice star/planet on purpose for that.thats funny of her so its justified
-flamberge calls francisca kiss-chan in japanese, this is the same nickname zan gives her in japanese thats officially translated as franny
-this isnt mentioned in the documents but im bringing it up bc its funny.that part of HIAD where francisca calls flamberge "miss flamberge" was just flamberge-san in jp, -san is just a polite honorific to use that isnt immediately translated to miss/mister, specially if the characters know each other.why did they make it that lmao
-japanese explicitly says too much heat might straight up make francisca melt (english also implies that tbf)
-francisca dislikes "pointless murder", but is fine freezing ppl n keeping them for her collection if she deems them an enemy
-hyness' japanese title can be read as both mage priest n devil priest
-the sisters titles all have a reoccurring use of ice blossom, hellfire n thunder fang respectively, n theyre called the demon generals instead of mage sisters
-HIAD hyness' title fell priest has a reference to fallen angels.i feel thats giving pre corruption hyness too much personality credit but alright
-void is refered to both as devil n angel in different forms titles.this is awesome
-theres a kanji for hope thats associated w the jamba cult throughout the whole game
-the japanese guest star screens for the mages say theyre no longer praying n r seeking a new paradise together, for whatever reason, english completely removes the no longer praying part, completely losing the meaning of the sentence n development the sisters have (interestingly, hyness is mentioned in those n still called their master, n zans description straight up states she wants him to watch her triumph (translated officially as her wanting to make him proud), so its not actually explained if they disbanded the cult or theyre just.some kind of normal religion now? but theyre atleast touching grass now)
todays conclusion is the KSA translators just hate us 👍 check the linked fan translation for more examples of that

Okay. So. I said in my tags that I'd have more to say about all this, and mainly what I'm going to talk about is personal. Picture me writing this all out as fast as I can on my lunch break 😭
The past 8-ish months in this fandom have been a complete and utter hellscape. It's one thing to make niche theories and have them end up unpopular. It's another to have people quite literally send out libelous messages about you in hopes of a) convincing new fans that you're a bad person, and b) scaring new fans into that they're bad people if they interact with you.
And I mean...I knew Elliot and his friends were saying messed up stuff about me. I've known that since September of last year. I was trying to ignore it and not let it dictate my fandom experience. Because like what the hell, they’re pixels on a screen. It sucks, but it’s ultimately just the internet. Anyway. The false, exaggerated claims of rape apologism and pedophilia being presented as fact while having no proof behind them are nothing new. That's been going on for a long time, now, and I do have proof of that.
For example, the author of this anon:
Did fully come and apologize/explain that they were lied to on that very topic when the situation in September happened:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I did tell this person that I don't make a habit of posting DMs publicly because generally speaking I find it to be a breach of trust, but the situation has gone so far that I want to make that all public. I did, however, promise not to name them publicly. I won't tell you who said any of that, even if you ask.
But yeah, all that is nothing new.
What I didn't know until my conversations with @final-boy-creel is how invested this group was in making me out to be an awful person. I had no idea that anyone in that friend group was creating wholly falsified screenshots of me saying heinous transphobic things.
Final-boy-creel laid all that out, but I did want to a) post those faked images here for my own records, and b) expand on the situation in my own words.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
First off...that's not my discord, nor is that Em's discord. Second off, like final-boy-creel said in his post: the fucked up time stamp at the bottom of the second image. (Among many other details that mark the pictures as fake, such as: changing text sizes, display names not being bolded, display names not being aligned with the time stamps, weirdly stretched profile pictures, the use of "tory" when I'm very open about being a USAmerican, numerous typos, and entirely altered typing styles (for example, I always edit my typos, I use the reply function all the time, and I'm a punctuation fan, including but not limited to: em dashes, semicolons, colons, and ellipses). Like...did whoever made these even try to make them believable??)
Second, as final-boy-creel said, I'm a neopronoun user myself. I had he/void in my bio for years, even back before I used tumblr and only had twitter. I mean, my neopronouns are even still in my discord notes:
Tumblr media
And yes, I did remove them from public view to avoid any possible harassment from fans coming from sites like instagram, reddit, and tiktok, where neopronouns are a huge source of discourse and bullying.
So to say that *I* bully people for using neos? Absolutely insane.
Furthermore, I would never tell someone they "aren't trans enough" and that they're "making the community look bad". If you know me, then you've seen how much I post about queerness and letting people label themselves however they like forever. I'm a huge supporter of "weird" and "cringe" transness. Hell, I use the umbrella term queer for myself because I don't feel like a particular label fits me.
That upsets me more than anything else, because so much of who I am and the background I come from as a trans person centers around radical acceptance. I myself was told I wasn't trans enough when I was younger, and that shaped who I am today. Practicing radical acceptance was the only way to dig myself out of the "what if people think I'm not trans enough?" hole that was prventing me from actually living my life the way I want to.
So it really hurts me, that people think I'm some kind of transmedicalist fake-claiming scum! I'm not like that, I never have been, and it's really upsetting, knowing a decent amount of Henry fans (who all probably have me blocked by now, unfortunately, so it's not like I get a chance to explain anything) are going around thinking that's the kind of person I am. Making that kind of stuff up about me is just plain mean, especially when it's paired with telling people that I'm toxic and mean.
I can have my snippy moments when anons get a little too rude, but I like to think I'm not a mean person. And I guess I always assume that other people are the same way. Maybe that just makes me naïve.
But honestly, I just wanted to put out an apology to anyone who’s been intimidated by that group or made to feel like they’re in the goddamn panopticon here based on drama they weren’t even involved in, all under the guise of “warning” them about me. I’m so sorry that the shitstorm sucked you all into it, too. I’m so sorry your fandom experience has been made that stressful, and I’m sorry people are trying to control the opinions you form about others. It’s really, really disturbing—and really patronizing—behavior.

ways to store information about and communicate with your system, compiled by the wonderhorror system ☆ (who loves looking into stuff like this! please feel free to drop any recommendations!)
(divider by cafekitsune!)
Tumblr media
Simply Plural
simply plural is an app designed for systems to track fronting, store member information, and communicate with their system. this is one of few things on this list designed specifically with systems in mind.
it has many features, duch as member profiles, custom fields, markdown support, a notes page for each member, a chat feature, message boards to send a specific member a message, the ability to set a member as fronting or add front entries after the fact, and custom fronts. you can also add friends to share some information with, and it has 3 levels of privacy settings (public, trusted friends, private), everything defaults to private.
we use simply plural the most out of everything here, since theres so much you can do with it and we like the apps design.
Tumblr media
Writing Apps
not as in like a notes app, but those apps where you store character and plot information! one thing most of these have over simply plural is a dedicated relationships section where you can link to character/member profiles and write what kind of relationship they have!
foretelling is probably the one we'd recommend most for this purpose! (and shoutout to whoever the anon who suggested it to plurals-culture-is was!) but you can use others like it so long as they have everything you need.
fortelling in particular has character profiles, groups, relationships, something akin to custom fields, a timeline feature, the ability to add notebooks, and locations! its all designed for writing but it may be useful to many plurals!
Tumblr media
TwiNote
this is a specific app you see around a lot. its like twitter but its just you. you can make as many profiles as you want and also sort them into groups. we basically used it like "twitter but its just our system." due to the twitter interface we had difficulty taking it seriously but im sure others would not have this problem. it also has dms you can use! so thats real cool!
Tumblr media
Antar
antar is an app in which you can create "personas" and chat with them, as well as visualize the sessions later. it doesnt have as may different details as other things, but its simple and useful for communication and venting. it also has "let it go" sessions, where you just talk into the void basically. the messages literally fly away and dissapear
Tumblr media
Miuu Note and similar
miuu note was the first one that came to mind, but essentially its a notes app with little books you can have and add different entries too! we used to use it so each alter would have their own notebook. there are other apps that do a similar thing you could probably use as well
Tumblr media
A notebook
like just an actual notebook. this ones great. theres a lot of ways to do this as there is with everything, but for us we use it mostly by writing down the conversations we have in different pen colours and sticking sticky notes to the front page as "announcements." if you were to do this, a notebook where you could move around the pages would probably be ideal?
Tumblr media
other stuff i know exists but cant give a blurb to:
- lighthouse
- obsidian
- pluralkit
also i swear i had more than this. huh. ill add others i think of i suppose

The downfall of Xiaorang(xiaoyu/hwoarang)
Tumblr media
Ok so first and foremost i want to just talk about how xiaorang is literally such a good pairing? the idea never occured to me, especially when i was HOOOKED on Jinxiao and Hwoajin.
The whole love triangle ship thing for Jin isnt new at all with people always putting xiaoyu and hwoarang against eachother just for the sake of who is JIN's love interest.
But aside from the love triangle, we have another ship
HWOAJINXIAO
this essentially combined jinxiao and hwoajin into one and honestly its amazing , genuinely the best of both words. But due to the fact it combines jinxiao and hwoajin we really never see the OTHER side of the ship. and that is XIAORANG (or xiaohwoa or whatever you wanna call it lmao)
You can imagine my surprise when I found out this pairing is so freaking underrated...ESPECIALLY IN 2025
The formula for xiaorang is: if you took JIN KAZAMA out of the equation of ships and then all you have left is xiaoyu and hwoarang. this seems like a no brainer, especially with the whole opposites attract thing, (although jin is better for this trope I believe hwoarang can work just as well)
LIKE BAD BOY X GOOD GIRL LIKE WHATTTTT or like idk hwoarang being a 2nd choice????
anyways back to my main point....THE DOWNFALLLL
xiaorang wasnt always this unknown, and this fact really surprised me.
from researching on twitter, I found a tweet saying it was a much more popular pairing back then in the old days (2000s to early 2010s)
And they werent wrong!! the amount of fanfic media about this ship was actually in a decent amount (only on FFN tho, ao3 for xiaorang is a dead end)
But like the tweet said, it was popular BACK THEN, all these fanfics were written in the 2000s and even early 2010s.
No clue really to why the hype died down but theres always going to be a trace of xiaorang left on the internet.
nowadays you get more pairings like hwoajin and even asuka and hwoarang?? i know they COULD potentially work(?) but I don't think pairings where the people are very similar really work out (talking from experience)
ALSO NO FANART??? I found only 2 xiaorang fanarts and on the comments of one of them somebody commented how xiaoyu belonged to jin and whatnot like oh my god stop
If anything xiaoyu has the right to choose jin or not especially after he disappeared (i know why but thats still shit) AND THE FACT SHE STAYED LOYAL WHATT girl move on please. i love jinxiao but its this unrequited love thing which makes me sad.
I like to imagine xiaorang took place in Tekken 7 when Jin was gone and xiaoyu was losing hope and she found hwoarang who also wanted to find jin so they just form alliance and grow together. And hwoarang starts becoming fond with xiaoyu but he reminds himself that xiaoyu is disgustingly loyal to jin even tho he was gone lmao.
so it lowkey sounds onesided but maybe xiaoyu ALSO becomes fond of hwoarang, she wants to fill the void jin left within her and she does that by letting her self open up to hwoarang, maybe she even starts to get even more attached but shes still stuck on JIN.
ok yeah so in conclusion the downfall of xiaorang wasnt needed at all especially when tekken 7 exists and like we should bring back xiaorang please oh my god..

I think for sure we are meant to regard the drop as uniquely awful abuse within Louis and Lestat’s relationship. I love the trial apology too, Sam is amazing as Lestat there (always, but you know what I mean) and his guilt and self-loathing over it are so intense.
I don’t think a lot of those posters are motivated by racism though. For one, a lot of them are black, and the new fan whose tweet started all of this is black (and is getting called a coon, which seems pretty gross). So it’s not like all black fans of the show have one take on it. And a lot of those posters seem to be people who have experienced abuse and are reacting from their own experiences. So I don’t agree with those takes, but it’s complicated.
this is going to sound worse than how I mean it, but people's personal experiences with abuse do not matter when it comes to analysis. it's the same thing with people being like 'Louis/Lestat reminds me of my mom/dad/family member' like sorry for you, truly, but that has zero impact on the way we're supposed to look at a story. personal stories have their place, of course, but it completely erases any chances of objectivity which, in turn, takes significant impact of the analysis away as it will always be tinged with personal bias. and I get not everyone is on twitter of all spaces trying to do in-depth analysis or anything, but the fact of the matter is that if you're going to throw out an insane take and then double-down on it, you should have your ducks in a row and that means having the appropriate evidence to back up what you're saying which is not what is happening at all. in fact, the conversation has gotten to where people are quite literally showcasing that they cannot comprehend basic plot points in their attempt to say louis' shutting lestat out is the same as lestat nearly killing him.
and the take, no matter who it came from, is batshit. there is absolutely an expectation by many in this fandom for so many fans in different "categories" (white, black, women, men, straight, young, old, etc.) to act as a monolith in opinion, and while I think opinions can absolutely differ (a black fan can have lestat as a favorite character and dislike louis and it not be racist, a white fan can have armand as a favorite character and it not be wrong, etc.) the sentiment that louis and claudia deserved any of what happened to them is abuse apologia and racism. like. full stop.
and there's no safe or sane way to discuss this on that site, which is why I'm here and I'm frankly using this more as a place to vent hence no tags and talking into the assumed void, because I'm not trying to dredge up an ongoing discourse with no end in sight, but keeping my mouth shut is very hard when I'm quite literally watching people say that they equivocate lestat's repeated cheating on louis, domestic violence toward him and claudia, and his downright threats to them to louis not saying I love you, to louis shutting down after claudia left, to louis wanting to leave him after all of that

My Thunderbolts* review, thoughts, expectations and experience: [SPOILERS]
But let's start with this:
This is going to be long af...
Okay so I deleted Twitter and Tumblr 19th April because all the daily spots were showing too much in my opinion and I was really careful with TikTok, Instagram and Tiktok. Also I even changed the TV channel when a commercial showed up and turned down the volume with an ad on Spotify. It was serious to me. (I also had a countdown). I learned that I have a severe addiction to Twitter and Tumblr 🤡 but hey it was worth the suffering of boredom during all those days.
Sadly there weren't a lot of people in my cinema :( and I saw someone from my past entering the cinema (but I think he didn't see me so 😮‍💨🤞🏻). And they showed the first 4F trailer, I wanted to see the new one :( And I was nervous af entering the cinema theatre as if I was going to have a date with him or as if I had to fight The Void myself 😭
The first time watching it I was wearing my Taskmaster hoodie and Yelena's blue eyeliner under her eyes and the second time I was wearing a yellow shirt and black jeans btw
I'm still processing the whole movie to be honest. Wow.
It really surprised me that Valentina and Bob didn't knew each other at the beginning of the movie, knowing each other at the end of it. And also that he was in Malaysia in the past, and travelling through Asia. "I went to Asia to find myself... Or more drugs if not" 😭 He's so funny.
The Marvel Studios intro... Wow again. I was already gasping and with my hands on my head. I thought "Oh this is really HIS movie".
The Castilian Spanish dub is amazing but the voice of Void (if I remember correctly) is exactly the same as Bob's, in English he has more villain voice. Also sadly in the dub they didn't specify that he takes meth, they just said "drugs". And in the dub Yelena and Alexei doesn't have an accent.
Mel is stronger than me at that party because if I was in her position... (She's definitely going to be erased from fanfics to put a non-Avenger Y/N in her place- wHO SAID THAT???)
I gasped so loud when I saw Taskmaster without the mask for a second, and then... I gasped horrified. "It was obvious she was going to die"- TO YOU!!! I know they sometimes lie with the trailers and teasers (and they did but not as I thought), I really thought they were removing her with CGI and that they wanted us to believe she was going to die! And I know she wasn't a popular character but I liked her because I really saw potential in her and her relationship with other characters like Yelena and Alexei! (Also because she's cool visually and because I have a kink with armors and masks and silent characters but that doesn't matter right now!!!) At least Yelena was kinda sad for what happened and tried to defend her when someone spoke bad about her (same girl), and at least Ava felt bad about killing her...
The fact that Antonia died and LITERALLY instantly Bob appeared was a roller coaster for me. I barely had time to process the former. It was like watching the Reylo kiss and the second after watching Ben die, but reverse feelings.
I'm also surprised by the fact that John is now single, but now that I think about it makes perfect sense. He probably saw Lemar in Void's illusion... :( Also I was really expecting to see Alexei's and Ava's traumas, SPECIALLY BUCKY SEEING THE WINTER SOLDIER. That's not as unrealistic as hoping to see Steve again played by Chris Evans! Just a hint about him fighting him!? But I understand that would've been anti-climatic. Bucky's development is incredible, in general. In each project he's at a different point in his life and it's so interesting to watch... (Also, talking about Bucky and John... The development of their relationship is so interesting! And loved that John protected him with his shield during the fight with Sentry!)
I have to admit that I was worried af during the beginning seeing the chemistry Bob and Yelena had because well I don't like that ship- I prefer them as besties and I'm glad there wasn't a romantic subplot nor a kiss scene.
Talking about Yelena, I was expecting her to be more depressed and I really didn't want her to be like that so I'm glad she wasn't so depressed all the time.
Loved the humor, especially with Bucky and Alexei. I was worried about Alexei being annoying like Antman but he's good.
And talking about Alexei... Watching the trailers I thought Yelena was going to ask him to drive her to the Vault so I was surprised when she didn't.
Valentina was good as always. I was really surprised to see her past, that scene kinda explains why she doesn't trust anyone, why she's always spying and wanting control and you see her human side. But I would have liked someone hinting that she's suspicious for the missing of Ross, her ex husband. Also because of my theory of her being the main head of Project Sentry before the movie I thought she was going to show Bob during the Congress scene or the gala. Lmao.
Now let's talk about the elephant in the room:
Bob.
Bob's mannerisms and body language show how shy he is and how bad he is mentally, just like how he has a hard time keeping his gaze (especially while standing next to Valentina as she explains to the Thunderbolts why he's now on her side, there I sense he was embarrassed and nervous for the possibility of having to fight them). He reminds me of Heleana Targaryen played by Phia Saban. I also loved (I'd say even more) Void's mannerisms.
I'm so happy they didn't erase his drug addiction and that they dare to show his past.
A detail I like is that he burns/melt things because his theme is the Sun: the water in that glass, Alexei's gun (he just melted it looking at it!!!), Bucky's hand... So he's always hot, sweating. But probably I'm looking at it too much and that was because he was nervous, the fire in the previous scene in the Vault and for the joke.
But I'm kinda confused. Did he show those illusions to Yelena, John and Valentina on purpose or was it accidental? I felt like John's was really on purpose as revenge for the bullying. And all of them were when they touched him??? (With Yelena certainly he was holding her hand, I don't really remember if he was holding John and I think that Valentina touched his hand???)
And if I understand correctly, the mental illnesses Bob has are...: Schizophrenia, bipolar, DID (which also causes him amnesia), depression which causes him lack of self-esteem and suicidal thoughts because of a lot of traumas and genetics (and vertigo but I think that's not a mental illness). And of course everything gets worse with drugs and the Sentry serum. (Agoraphobia is not even possible in my opinion, otherwise he wouldn't have gone on a trip alone in Asia and would have been scared af at the press conference).
I was hoping for a scene where he's literally hearing Void's voice, and that we could hear what he was hearing- what they were talking about. But at least they hinted his schizophrenia.
To me it's weird that he was struggling to break a glass and the next scene he was fighting with all his super powers as he was already used but anyways...:
The scene where Bob fights them is AMAZING and I didn't expect him to be so powerful. So powerful that even when Alexei grabs him to stab him he looks bored. But I find it a little weird that he was surprised that he could stop Bucky's bullets in a Matrix-like way and then act like it wasn't the first time he used all those powers. But I insist that I love the scene and the second time watching it I swear I was biting my lip trying not to groan.
I didn't expect him to be able to teleport either and I love how he does it visually, I didn't expect them to dare give him that power in the MCU.
Also at the beginning they hinted that he has blond hair while using his powers but then he's blond because Valentina forced him to dye his hair for a marketing campaign? Bob said he wasn't convinced by the blond hair, in the timeskip is he blond or is it a lighting thing because that it's Lewis's real, actual hair right now??? (That scene was filmed one month ago apparently)
And where does the suit come from? Like... the period of time it's very little, no way they asked those people who were in the back during the glass scene to do it and it was done in a few hours. I don't know, I was hoping for a transformation, not that he was literally getting ready dressed up.
Like him I prefer him as brunette lmao 😭 I was so glad when he said that he didn't really like the blond hair because that would mean that the brunette hair would come back and I was correct 🙂‍↕️ And the suit... I think I'm the only one in the fandom that hates "comic accurate" suits 😭 I was hoping for a suit like Vision, accurate but more "realistic", "military". MAYBE I have to get used to it and I'm sure they'll change it for Doomsday and Secret Wars. I guess it looks like that for the context. At least it's not CGI but... I'm sorry, I know it's not but it's giving cheap costume for a Halloween party. And the mayonnaise color on his sides... At least it didn't last long.
The scene where we see his corpse laying on the floor and the shadows go after him REALLY did an impact on me in every way: visually, emotionally... And Oh God when they say that there's no corpse and Valentina looks at the sky and sees him... GOOOOOD!
Also I was really surprised to see him attacking Valentina, and I gasped so loud when Mel shot him, like when Ava shot Antonia. Literally hands on my head. I was like "He's not dead... He can't be dead, right...?". I have fear for a moment, I swear.
The weapon used to stop Sentry??? Was it something related to his blood, right? Since it's the last time he remembers before being in the Vault and his eyes full of blood when Mel kills him. (I can't believe I'm writing those words... Mel killing Sentry... Sounds insane but it's canon...)
And now let's talk about the other elephant in the room:
Void.
I thought he was going to be more... different to Bob. Like... Maybe more like Bruce and Hulk or even Moon Knight...? I don't know, I don't know how to express this but it makes sense in my mind, be patient with me 😭 Like two completely different people in a body, he was very similar to Bob. "It's because he's B-" I KNOW!!! But I was expecting a different thing. This doesn't mean I don't like him, because trust me: I love him! I guess I was expecting Bob to be more aware of himself and Void? Idk.
(And I don't remember the "I am The Void" and "There's no use fighting, trust me" voice lines... Guess that was bait. But I really expect Void introducing himself to Bob and/or the Thunderbolts and Bob trying to stop him after hearing him inside his head)
And I thought he was going to be more mean and scary, but he was softer than I thought and Bob was meaner than I thought. Bob is also braver than I thought.
That scene in the lab was so cool, Void was so cunty. Loved the physical and verbal fight between Bob and him. The first time I saw the film I didn't notice Void's smile while Bob was punching him, it was the second time I saw it and I gasped. And I love the way he laughs 🫦 I don't know if I've said it already.
The little girl scene was incredible. (On the second viewing I heard a guy burst out laughing and instantly feel bad so he tried to shut up and it was so funny that I laughed too).
Oh and that press conference... I was like "Oh God is she going to sa- oHHHH MY GOD SHE SAID IT, NEW AVENGERS!!!", I sensed it with the * in the title of the movie but it was a surprise anyway.
The credits were cool af and it sets you up for the second post-credits scene (that I already knew it was going to connect with Doomsday thanks to Twitter but a part of me thought that maybe it was bait?) but it surprised me that they showed Olga's name and then the "with David" and "with Hannah". Like... It should be their names and then "with Olga" because she literally only has a scene and a line, right? 😭 And also they didn't show Bob when Lewis name showed up :/
AND THE SECOND POST CREDIT SCENE OH MY FUCKING GOOOOOOOD!?
"14 months later"!? THAT'S INSANE!
I really would have liked to see those 14 months because there was definitely A LOT going on! Their relationship with Valentina and Mel, Valentina and Mel relationship with each other, also Mel relationship with them and especially Bucky and Bob (I feel she's the new Pepper), how Bob's life and mental health is and his relationship with the rest (does he feel bad for not being useful to the team? Is he doing drugs again?), how the world sees them and Bob, them working and living together IN THE TOWER (LIKE IN THE FANFICS) (AT LAST)!? AND WHAT'S GOING ON WITH BUCKY AND SAM!? SAM'S ANGRY BUCKY IS WORKING WITH VALENTINA OR WHAT!???? IS THERE ANOTHER AVENGER'S TEAM LEADED BY SAM!? AND WHY SO WORRIED ABOUT THE SPACE ALL OF THE SUDDEN!?
The interdimensional ship... For a moment I thought it would be Doom, since they said the scene would be like Ragnarok. The first time I saw the movie nobody reacted when they saw the 4F logo but the second time my whole room gasped.
I don't know, I feel we need a new Avengers movie during those months also showing what's going on with Sam and his team and them being forced to be allies because of a villain. I KNOW that's what is going to happen in Doomsday but in that movie, because of Doom and 50 characters we aren't going to have time to focus on the characters and their feelings and their lives.
They should have shown Bob's reaction to remembering or learning about what happened and his relationship with Val and Mel after that.
I don't like that he doesn't use his powers in the timeskip :( I guess remembering or finding out what he did after the events of the movie traumatized him and he doesn't want to use his powers again as a precaution, I want to believe that he assumes that if he uses his powers he will lose his mind and Void will appear and not that that is 100% true. I'd like to see him like in the comics be able to use his powers normally. I'm guessing we'll have a scene of him being encouraged by Yelena and the rest in Doomsday to dare to use his powers or motivated by them being in extreme danger and having to save them. I guess we just need to be patient with that...
The action choreography, the cinematography, the soundtrack, the performances, the humour, the tone, script, the camera work... Everything is incredible, perfect. You can see the love that everyone has put into this film. Great end of the film and phase. I left the cinema shaking. Surprisingly I didn't cry but I was teary eyed throughout the whole movie, even the second time watching it. And I'm so grateful for the timing because it made me distract from things I don't want to think about my personal life right now.
Long story short: I love Bob and Void, 11/10 🔥
