End Knee Jerk Judgements of Beauty

Sadly, we live in a society where judging others has become second nature. We casually judge and label people we find unattractive; ugly, trashy, slob, geezer, fatty, etc often without a moment’s pause or a single thought about our own flaws or qualities. On a related note, it's become normal to walk past the homeless and hungry without empathy, dismissing their situation with callous assumptions as if they somehow deserve their suffering, never stopping to consider the countless, complex reasons that may have led them there. This is also a judgement in which our egos insist on separation between us via declaring our superiority to others in our consciousness rather than an embrace of our oneness and unity when observing them.

We’ve been conditioned by a beauty-obsessed culture to evaluate others superficially. But instead of participating in that toxic reflex, we must train ourselves to catch ourselves in the act and respond differently. Choose to earnestly affirm the inherent beauty in everyone. Recognize that we are all radiant children of the universe, reflections of the same divine source, equally beautiful, equally worthy. We are not separate. We are one.

It is spiritually healthy to affirm within your consciousness that you are neither superior nor inferior to any of your fellow human beings. Every thought of superiority, no matter how subtle, arises from the ego, the very root of all human suffering.

When any knee-jerk judgment arises, replace it with a declaration of unity: They are beautiful. They are my brother, my sister. We are one in the eyes of the universe. I accept my oneness with all humans I encounter, and with those I may never meet. I ask the universe and the Holy Spirit to dissolve every illusion of separation, for such divisions are merely projections of the ego.

It is striking and troubling to hear people claim we are a “Christian society rooted in Christian values" and then in the same breath speak with judgment, cruelty, and contempt. This hypocrisy should compel us to reflect deeply. We must catch ourselves in the act of judging, and with increasing self-awareness, begin to unlearn these harmful habits. Only then can we begin to walk the path that Jesus actually taught, a path of compassion, humility, and love.

Each time we resist the impulse to judge and instead choose understanding and empathy, we take a step closer to recognizing our shared humanity and our deeper unity with the universe itself. Through conscious effort, self-awareness, and empathy, we can begin to shed the toxic habits that separate us and instead live in harmony with the truth: that we are all part of the same divine family.

LGBTQ Inclusion Tests Our Christian Virtues

A gentle reminder to those who passionately profess their Christian faith and assert their devotion to the teachings of Jesus: embracing Christianity is not solely about vocal declarations of love for Christ or repeatedly affirming belief in his sacrifice. At the heart of this faith lies a call to embody the virtues that Jesus himself lived and taught—compassion, humility, mercy, forgiveness, and love for others. True discipleship is measured not by how loudly one proclaims allegiance, but by how faithfully one reflects the character of Christ in daily life. Jesus did not instruct his followers to prove their faith through words alone, but through the transformative power of sincere and consistent action. At no point did he condition a swearing of allegiance to him, to loving him or accepting him as your savior as that would have been incredibly narcissistic of him. He simply taught his disciples to follow principles in their day to day lives in order to experience a spiritual awakening.

An awakening which lets us access what he referred to as the 'kingdom of heaven' which he advised was present within all of us. It is not a literal kingdom, as Jesus spoke in metaphors often, so he described the euphoria and ecstasy that is present within each of us as heaven. It was an apt and descriptive term, as it also describes us finally realizing and reestablishing our unity and oneness with the greater universe above us as well as unity and oneness with all fellow human beings which he casually described as our siblings. This description of fellow human beings as brothers was also apt since it emphasizes the fact that we are all inherently and intrinsically family, and not separate like our egos would like us to believe. Finally, understanding that we are all one and family would have a tremendous impact on everyone's thinking and the way we act towards others instead of the current method which has us exclusively and selfishly worrying about ourselves and anyone in our close circle of friends and family.

That being said, the universe often gives us opportunities to not judge others as being separate or as being inferior or 'sinners' that should be condemned, judged, derided or ostracized by society. The most common/frequent example comes in the form of people of other races or nationalities. It's easy to fall into the illusion that we are different or superior to others, but keep in mind these are egotistically motivated thoughts, and are purely intended to keep ourselves separate from others or to judge others as being inferior. This is completely out of line with what Jesus taught his followers which was to see all others as our siblings (brothers/sisters) and therefore all also our family. The consequences of this contributes to an inability to achieve oneness with all humanity and the universe. These are self constructed obstacles built by our egos.

Many Christians have successfully not normalized judging others with superficial differences like skin color or race. In the past several decades, there has been a substantial increase in the amount of non-binary individuals gaining mainstream attention and demand for equal treatment in society. While many Christians will refer to the old testament and older books in the bible to justify condemnation and very publicized hatred towards people who they feel violate laws in the bible. They are also forgetting that these older verses and laws that mandate hatred, anger and violence towards these people also violate Jesus teachings of expressing non-judgement and love towards all our neighbors and brothers.

These instructions and teachings in the old testament are mutually exclusive with Jesus teachings. You cannot honor Jesus teachings and values while also upholding archaic biblical instructions that tell us to employ hatred, anger and violence towards others. For followers of Jesus, they need to pick which teachings they want to honor and hold.

It is critical that anyone who is saying they follow Jesus teachings actually follow what he taught and not just cherry pick the biblical teachings that are most aligned with their own personal opinions. You've betrayed Jesus' teachings the moment you've upheld biblical teachings you feel justify your hatred and judgement towards others. The fact of the matter is, that old biblical texts that cannot be reconciled with Jesus teachings should be completely abandoned. Let members of the LGBTQ+ community serve as reminders and opportunities for you to not judge others, to bless and help others and most importantly put others before yourself in a true act of selflessness towards egoless consciousness.

As we enter the nonbinary state of quantum reality/society, it's no surprise that we are being tested to see how welcoming we would be to persons who do not easily fit into the binary gender roles.
