“[E]ven large, complex businesses can leave Russia if they prioritize responsibility over excuses.” ~ @b4ukraine 🇺🇦💙💛🇺🇦
#Repost @b4ukraine with @use.repost_ . . . Not so sweet: Consumer goods giants in Putin’s service
One of the most striking revelations from B4Ukraine’s new report is the enduring presence of major Western household names — 🇺🇸 #Mars, 🇺🇸 #Mondelez, 🇨🇭 #Nestlé, 🇺🇸 #Pepsi, and 🇺🇸 #ProcterandGamble — that became deeply entrenched in Russia’s economy. Their significant revenues and tax contributions not only bolster the Kremlin’s budget but also normalize business-as-usual for Russian consumers and investors. This normalization sends a dangerous message: that global brands are undeterred by Russia’s illegal war.
But 🇬🇧 #Unilever has shattered the myth that leaving Russia is impossible. Despite operating eight plants and holding €775 million in assets (1.4% of revenue), Unilever exited in October 2024. This bold move proves that even large, complex businesses can leave Russia if they prioritize responsibility over excuses.
The takeaway is clear: companies have a choice. It’s time to act, #exitRussia #StopFundingTheWar.
