Otori Kohaku (aka unity-chan) is a japanese synth developed by YAMAHA and distributed by Unity Technologies Japan. she is a mascot for the unity software. shes voiced by Asuka Kakumoto, and her v4 illustrated by ntny (in not sure but i think her debut might be too ? and fuck knows about ai voice lord help me). she was first released with Unity with Vocaloid, which was a version of vocaloid 2 made for use within the unity engine through a SDK/ Special Developers Kit (??). this was slated to release on 21 dec 2015, and according to the vocaloid fandom wiki, released "sometime in dec 2015", though it also says it released on 29 jan 2015. i feel like the jan date could have been when it was first announced, or a typing mistake and it meant to say 2016 (as i feel like a small delay like that is believable), but i honestly do not know. kohaku then received a v4 bank on 14 jan 2016, and an A.I. VOICE bank on 4 aug 2023. thoguh her character birthday is 13 aug. she is 17yo.

Hello, all! I'm burdened with knowledge of VSynth supplemental lore that I'm... honestly not quite sure is common knowledge, and if I don't share it I think I'm quite likely to descend into unspeakable madness (<- this is not actually true i think it'll be very speakable mild lunacy at absolute worst)!

So, dear friends, followers and folk of all sorts, which rather unusual tale involving singing computers and entirely too much extraneous storytelling would you like to hear? The winning topic will feature in a casual essay explaining both the in-universe story and the real-world context leading to the creation & subsequent reception of the piece of media. Otori Kohaku (unity-chan!) has a voicebank released for the speech synthesizer A.I.VOICE. Her design for this software is based on her original design (as the Unity Technologies Japan mascot), rather than her VOCALOID4 design.

Round 2 Has Finished!

Interestingly, the amount of people voting has significantly increased this round. Is it because there’s less matches, more people are aware of the blog, people wanting to vote the closer to the end a tournament is, or mixture of all of the above? I’ll probably never know.

akaza is an alt mascot for unity-chan made exclusively for the vocaloid software, the main one being otori kohaku. kohaku has a character birthday but akaza doesn't so I'm celebrating akaza on unity-chans release date, 14 jan 2016. akaza's illustrator is ntny.

prima is an english synth developed by zero-g, and released in 2008. her vp has not been released. her original box art is a photo of a model taken by Ivan Grlic / bg_knight. prima has a character mascot in her taiwanese release though, and this is drawn by Loiza
