thinking about how in chapter four we really truly have a close trusted ally for, like… the first time.

in chapter one we have lancer, sure, but he’s understandably conflicted between us and the King. we have fun with him and he has fun with us, but when it boils down to it he’s just a kid who doesn’t want us to hurt his father and who possesses no real power to help us. in chapter two there’s noelle and berdly, but even if especially noelle wants to be on our side, there’s always the overhanging threat of Queen that makes it a rather… uneasy? allyship. it’s shaky, you don’t know how long it’ll last; it’s more like occasional solace. (speaking for the normal route here, obviously. snowgrave is Different ! ) in chapter three there’s not really much of anyone at all? most background characters support us over tenna, we make friends with side characters, ramb’s letting kris into the backrooms to do weird shit, but there’s no one really at our side.

and then in chapter 4, we have someone not only on our side, but someone actively supporting us—holding us up, being there for us when we need it most, mentoring us even. in the without question darkest chapter to date, we also have our strongest ally yet, and our in my eyes safest-feeling safe zone in the study (the green room and the areas near stores in ch 1&2 just… don’t compare).

Well, now that we're talking post apocalyptic kobolds... If dragons as a species go extinct (which always seems like an inevitability once humans get involved) is there a chance for the kobold species to survive at all? I would assume it could be done but not without a lot of adaptability and possibly finding different creatures to congregate around. Or they are reduced to just being an all female species forever.

kobolds' closest evolutionary ancestors originally colonised active volcanoes before moving on to dragons as their heat source. so in the right conditions, they wouldn't need a dragon at all to retain their way of life. but idk how common active volcanoes are these days, so in their absence -

i can see there being a kind of fork in how the species develops. on the one hand we have the "we're going cold permanently" gang, progressing to an all-female parthenogenetic biotype that just stays that way, dumping the facultative heat adaptions as wasted resources and becoming more lizardy again like their ancestors. kobolds thrive in the dragon cave niche, requiring a cave which, without a dragon's presence, would sit at temperatures below freezing. this keeps out most of their enemies and natural predators during the cold phase, when kobolds become the only living creatures in a cave with any real presence who aren't the fish that they farm.

the other direction is the route taken by the poisoner and holly - leave the caves for good. kobolds cope terribly with open-air life - years out of the cave and holly still can't be out in direct sunlight without it physically hurting him. the open sky is panic-inducing even to kobolds who were born under it. and the temperature fluctuations are all wrong, it's never TRULY cold or TRULY hot so they end up feeling stagnant. but despite this they still survive and can reproduce, so this population would probably just adapt to surface life, ultimately becoming generalists rather than extremophiles. the reason this hasn't already happened is mostly due to there being so so many things that want to kill and eat them on the surface but now that they have the power of Living In A Society (and blacksmithing) they can defend themselves.

I honestly love the Old Man Gerson fight cause it's the perfect old man mentor fight he has so many underhanded tricks that feel like they're the most fair tricks in the entire game. Each attack feels like it's brimming with personality. Even though the whole battle is a pretty good challenge you can really tell he's holding back the whole time. He's not a god or omni-potent knight, he's just a cooky grandpa that wants to pass on his legacy.

Even when he was fighting the Titan he seemed care free and just excited to finally go "all out" with his (adoptive) granddaughter

plus he ends his fight saying fanfiction is cool and destiny is not set in stone

the objectively greatest character in all of fiction no debate

Was going to draw this to celebrate beating the dog phobia but I procrastinated for months because Scarecrow and fighting were intimidating to draw, so instead I've done it for the anniversary of it getting bad (which is in a few days)

DON'T TAG AS SHIP. As someone with OCD, I'm not forgiving Scriddler, people will completely ignore and erase Edward's OCD and ignore the fact it is an ANXIETY DISORDER so they can fetishize the fear toxin just so they can make the middle-aged men be hot or whatever. Fear toxin is not sexy, he is going to have a horrible time. I get that people only care about the neurodivergencies they have, but it still hurts that people completely overlook OCD. Sorry for the rant, hopefully venting means the brain will stop braining about it.

He sees Knight come in and is all happy to see his pupil again but then the Greenpath Vessel and Lost Kin (Green & Kin?) walk in behind them and Mato is like "More?? More children for me??"

And Green and Kin are wary at first but they trust their little sibling and clearly Knight trusts this person ; and Mato works so hard to earn their trust and offer them a warm and loving home and show them they are safe here and they don't have to be empty husks carrying the weight of the world on their shoulders anymore they're allowed to be children they're allowed to play and be happy and be cared for ; they're allowed to make mistakes, they're allowed to be scared ; they're allowed to live goddammit!

And sure it's not easy going from living alone to having three children under your roof, but he'll manage. And hey, he's always got Sly if he needs parenting advice...

People who don't understand or respect Marc Spector get on my nerves.

The whole show showed the characters in it and the audience that you can’t have one without the other. I’m pretty sure it’s Steven who says they’re a package deal.

I understand feeling connected to one character more than another, but that doesn't mean you can treat the one(s) you don't feel connected with like they don't exist or that they're bad when they're not.

I also get that Steven may be an “easier” character for people to connect with or whatever, but that doesn't mean Marc is any less deserving of love.

Anyway, I find the treatment of Marc Spector by fans and even the people who worked on the show kind of strange.

Ideas for a SatBK remaster (if it ever happens):

Camelot Castle and Nimue's Lake as hub worlds! Nimue can provide her challenges of Chivalry (the missions she sends Sonic on), and the bonus stages (unlocked after defeating Merlina), while the extra challenges could be given by the villagers in Camelot Castle. Connections to Arthurian legend can be accessed through dialogue at Nimue's, while SatBK specific lore can be accessed with the villagers in Camelot Castle, changing at different parts of the game (them talking about Arthur's corruption, how grateful they are to Sonic, and when Lancelot/Percival/Gawain, how they react to each knight). Plus, it would provide easy access to the Blacksmith, unlocking titles, and exchanging items.

FIXED CONTROLS. NO MORE DELAY. It's admittedly part of the charm (for me), but I would LOVE to have them fixed so the delay isn't as bad.

Camelot's treasury as an ACTUAL room (like Shadow's room in Generations). This can showcase the different items that are found, different talismans or potions made at the blacksmith's, and even showcasing the Sacred Swords. You could also view found concept are and replay cutscenes here.

A way to access Battle Mode in the game. Like, walk through one gate, and a prompt comes up asking if you want to enter Battle Mode/Multiplayer. This would let the player choose what character they want to play as, and also allow them to battle against a CPU opponent.

Some way to access the map at all times. With the original theme for the level selection playing while it's pulled up. For levels, you'd still have the ability to choose which knight you play as before entering a level, and the ability to equip items/talismans from the Blacksmith's Shop. (Maybe Merlina's magic allowed Sonic to instantly memorize the map or something.)

Last, but DEFINITELY not least:

GALAHAD AND LAMORAK IN THE GAME. PLEASE. SEGA, I'M BEGGING YOU.
