More observations for the trailer I am going insane!!!
I can't claim the original observation of this candle tree detail is mine, but it's from a Japanese Twitter user, here's a screenshot of the post and a link to it as well [x]
Tumblr media
The rest of this observation IS mine though, so let's get to it:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
With all the talk of cardinal sin, Messmer having a few parallels to Lucifer as pointed out by some friends of mine [x] I have to wonder if he is the cause of a speculated first burning of the Erdtree.
If this is the first time you have heard about this concept, I'll give a short summary. You know how Leyndell is covered in ash by the time we reach it in-game, and how that goes unexplained? We know for a fact that must be the Erdtree's ashes because after we claim the Rune of Death and the Erdtree burns even more, the capital is entombed in it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We are also told that the Age of Plenty, an age in which the Erdtree gave physical blessings from its sacred sap, swiftly came to a close and the tree had to be changed to simply an object of faith...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So the theory claims that the reason why the Age of Plenty ended so swiftly was due to the Erdtree being set on fire. In theory spaces, the go-to culprit for this speculated action has often been the Gloam-Eyed Queen, with her connections to fire (Blackflame specifically) and Destined Death, but now there's the possibility that this was all Messmer's doing after all. Promotional material and dialogue seems to really denote his affinity for scorching and setting things ablaze.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This probably also means he is the inventor of that scary flame construct that according to Miyazaki as per this interview [x] was an old war machine, no doubt used during this "unsung battle".
Tumblr media
Another important part of Messmer's design is the two snakes, which point us back to the Age of Plenty! Godfrey likely ruled during and directly after that time, and the arenas were likely built because of him. It had to be during Godfrey's rule because by the time Radagon became Elden Lord the practices of the colosseums had died down, as told to us by the Ritual Sword and Shield Talismans:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
One of the more interesting aspects of the gladiatorial battles that once took place is the snake symbolism on the gladiators' armor.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So the snake was a symbol of a generic "traitor to the Erdtree", and it predated Rykard's blasphemy by an entire age at least... so what if it wasn't generic at all and it represented Messmer himself? He might have been the perpetrator of a betrayal so foul that Marika removed all traces of his existence from her empire's history, but kept the symbol of the snake as a spiteful reminder of him and all other subsequent traitors. After all, she does seem to have power over which one of her children gets remembered or not, and if not her, then the collective of the Golden Order:
Tumblr media
Do note that we don't know when she said this. It could have been while she was still at the height of her rule or right before the Shattering. What we do know for a fact is that the soulless demigods inside the Walking Mausoleums have no known history to speak of, which is quite unlike Godwyn, one of the more accomplished members of the family. So yeah, being forgotten by history might be something the Golden Order does to those they deem unfit, so Messmer could be a likely candidate for such treatment... except instead of doing nothing noteworthy he did TOO much lol.
Now I gotta wonder if Marika hated him more or less than her Omen babies. One could argue that locking them down in a sewer close to where she lives was done more as an obligation than any true resentment. She could have sent them to the Shadow Lands if she really wanted them gone and unaccessible, as that place seems filled with Crucible-related things...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I am not saying she was a good mother to them because she didn't kick them to the Shadow Lands, but perhaps she DID have some small affection for them that she really couldn't follow through with.
Of course, maybe she just couldn't banish them anymore after banishing Messmer for whatever reason (maybe she cut-off a connection to that realm?). However, the most likely possibility is that he WAS known like the many soulless demigods and that Mohg and Morgott predate him. It's just that while those two were born undesirable through no fault of their own and were thus only hidden away, he BECAME undesirable which was worse in Marika's eyes so he gets the extra banishment and the removal of all of his history... there are so many possibilities...

TGCF Audio Drama Season Two Releases on May 26th! 🎉
Tumblr media
I'm a little late to the party, but very happy to share the news that the next season of the marvelous TGCF Audio Drama has been officially announced for May 26th! It will be available on MaoerFM/Missevan just like season one!
The first two episodes will drop simultaneously on May 26th, with the remaining episodes most likely releasing weekly for a total of 18 episodes. We will also get at least 4 mini-theaters (short bonus episodes).
We will have more info soon, so stay tuned for further clarifications! Here's a link to the original announcement on weibo.
There is an official trailer up on MaoerFM to listen to already, and I highly recommend it! Judging by the content of the trailer, season two will cover the first flashback arc, the whole of the Black Water arc, and up to the start of the Mt. Tonglu arc. So that's the entirety of webnovel Book 2, and a significant part of Book 3! (Not to be confused with the volumes of the various translations!)
Please note that the Audio Drama is in Chinese only! It is possible and very easy to listen to it with English MTL subtitles, however, until fan-translations catch up! I don't recommend it for new fans, but fans who have already read the books will likely be just fine after getting a little used to it!
Additionally, unlike the manhua or donghua, the audio drama is based on the revised version of the novel! If you do not know what that is, please check out this post where I've gone over that in more detail.
I have old guide for how to make a MaoerFM account and purchase the AD here. It is still mostly relevant, however there is now the option of using GooglePlay for Android users! This works in the US and many other countries, but of course is going to vary by region.
I also have a guide on how to turn on the MTL subs and how to deal with the barrage/scrolling text on the website here (twitter post).
Hopefully I'll be able to make a new guide soon, but for now these may be of service!
Please do buy and support the Audio Drama if you can! It's made by a very passionate team who have been doing their best to make it a very accurate and faithful adaptation! The voice acting and sound design are absolutely fantastic, and it's super affordable--only a couple of bucks per season! It's possible to pre-purchase the new season already, as well as tip the team directly via the app so please do so! 💖

Considering that both DT and P:EG happen in the U.S., what state and/or region do you think each of them lives in based on their lifestyle, fashion sense, culture, beliefs, backstory, etc?
Ok so. I gave answering this an honest shot, but I can’t lmao. I’m not from the US, I have absolutely no idea how to place the majority of these guys. I wouldn’t know the difference between someone from Arkansas and someone from California even if you put them right next to each other. Are those even particularly different states? Who knows! Not me!
Accents don’t help me either; I can barely tell apart accents in my native language, let alone intra-US accent differences. So, uh, I think I have to leave this one to my fellow Tumblr users to figure out!
That said, I still have some thoughts on some of the characters based on canonical information of their origin, so I’ll write those under the cut, so as to give you something.
Spoilers for P:EG CH1 and DRDT CH2.
Project: Eden’s Garden
Damon apparently canonically grew up in Japan, which was a new one for me. (Sources 1 and 2). If he moved to the US at some point, I have no idea where he landed lol.
Here’s what Ulysses says about where he works:
Damon [Ulysses 1st FTE]: You work at the Patawomeck River Museum, right? Ulysses: In Tsenacommacah, yes… I direct an exhibit on the Cold War there.
Tsenacommacah (name given by the Patawomeck tribe) is a real place in Virginia, so assuming Ulysses works in the same area he lives, we have a more or less confirmed origin! Hell yeah.
I would assume Jean lives in a coastal city, since, y’know. Sailing’s kinda his thing.
Does Ingrid have a southern accent? It’s like the only English accent I think I can easily recognize lmao. In fact, the wiki says she specifically has a Texan accent, so let’s say she’s from there.
The wiki says Grace has an Australian accent (and yes I’m quoting the wiki even on this, I’m that unconfident in telling apart accents lol), so you could argue she may come from Australia and just immigrated to the US.
Danganronpa: Despair Time
Unlike P:EG, where I don’t think it’s been explicitly stated every character (other than Damon evidently) is originally from America, it has been stated that most of the DRDT characters are explicitly American. The only exception is Teruko, whose nationality is “legally in question.”
Though, speaking of Teruko, it’s been highly implied that she grew up in Japan. We know she spent some time there according to a line from MonoTV in the costume change scene from CH2, and she and her brother used Japanese honorifics for each other when they lived together.
Tumblr media
(Does anyone have a link to this reply for future reference? I don’t have Twitter and I can’t access it easily help)
By extension, it’s possible Mai Akasaki comes from Japan, as she seems to have known Teruko for a long time.
Mai Quote (Teruko): Some years ago, she was searching for someone named 'Teruko Tawaki.'
For the Americans, it’s worth noting that they’re all part of “East Class 27” per Bonus Episode 1, possibly implying they’re all from the eastern side of the US. The only exception might once again be Teruko per the “West Class Teruko” theory you can find in my Mai post.
We know from Bonus Episode 2 that Xander grew up in “Chariton” and spent some time in Britain, though he's not from real life Chariton, and instead from a fake Chariton near an equally fictional Chariton River.
This is maybe a nice time to bring up that, given DRDT is set almost a hundred years post Tragedy, there’s a non zero chance some state and city names changed in the wake of the whole Junko fiasco lol. That also means that reasoning like “J might be from or near Hollywood because her mom is a famous actor” is not 100% reliable, because the Tragedy could have changed certain aspects of culture, and we have no way of knowing which ones.
Off the top of my head, I can’t remember anyone else from DRDT stating where they’re from, so. That’s where my guesses end lmao.
-
And that’s about it! I imagine there must be something I missed somewhere, since there’s a lot of evidence across both of these fangans and I don’t have Rose’s photographic memory so. Feel free to bring up anything I may have missed in comments or rbs. Hope I didn’t do too bad of a job though! And I hope that was enough of an answer for you! Thanks for the ask!

Tumblr media
Hello there, Welcome to Zy ID pack blog, Zi also run the blog @id-pack-archive, unlike that blog Zi'll be making Zy own ID packs, as well as it won't be ran on a queue.
Zy name is Wanderer, Zi am pronoun fluid but a good default is usually He/Him, They/Them, or It/Its.
Zi use first person neopronouns, which when compared to I/Me/My/Mine/Myself is written Zi/Ze/Zy/Zine/Zyself.
Zi don't have specific fandoms Zi specialize in or that Zi prefer, but Zi will deny any request Zi don't feel comfortable filling out for one reason or another.
If you send an ask with multiple characters, Zi will choose only one, but you are allowed to send in a later ask with the other character if you please!
If you have a very specific pack you want, but it’s with a character Zi’ve already done, you can still send it! There’s always more terms being made + if you have specific details that the other didn’t, Zi can easily add them.
Zy DNI* for this blog is simple, no proship/comshippers or radqueers please. However this DNI doesn't carry onto Zy archive blog due to the nature of it.
* Zy DNI only means for following Ze, likes and reblogs are fine since i don't check the blogs who like and reblog.

On-Going "Thread" of Commissions I requested for Monia [Genshin Impact OC] - Part 2
Warning: As the tags state, there will be some images of OC x Canon ships. Please do not interact if you do not like OC x Canon ships. Let's be respectful ^^
Unlike my other posts, this one will not include the original Twitter link and date of the original posting. The former is because I am still uncertain about the fate of my Twitter account (and mainly how much of a hassle it will be). The latter is because at some point I messed up in the making of the thread on Twitter that some had to be reposted without recalling accurately the original dates of posting. So instead of attempting to arrange the artworks in chronological order from earliest to latest, I will arrange the artworks by artist with their socials. Some may not have it for varying reasons.
Please go support the artists if you can! They deserve it for all of their hard work!

According to Brennan, "the key is to look at Tumblr as a creative culture platform versus a tech platform. People don't come to Tumblr because the features are groundbreaking." Automattic can't treat Tumblr like WordPress.com. "WordPress is a utility, it's easy to use, it gets you up and running," she notes. If Facebook is a phonebook where "you go to connect with people you like, find a handyman, pick an event," and Twitter is a call-in radio show where "you hear all these different opinions, but you can shoot back," then Tumblr is a high school cafeteria. Aesthetics, normies, weird art kids, goths, and musicians all have their place, Brennan says, "and you can be anything you want to be. Sometimes you don't fit into one so you try another. There's eavesdropping. You're always going to learn something, no matter where you are."
(from the article linked above)
A couple of thoughts:
The OP's original comments are a bit too combative for my taste; people are welcome to use any social media platform in the way that suits them best.
That being said, new users should also be welcomed into the fold by strongly encouraging them to interact via reblogs and exceptionally long tags. (The tags, which allow spaces - unlike literally any other platform I'm aware of - are my favorite tech feature on this beloved hellscape.)
I was introduced to tumblr by an irl friend (@smokeandsong 🧡! ) who basically laid out tumblr culture to me. This perhaps made it easier to get going because between smokeandsong and other irl friends in that group (I'm looking at you, @aandrezel & @brandochunderdarkseas !), I felt confident diving into interacting "the tumblr way" 😂
I still remember @aandrezel 's tags on their reblog of one of my early posts that was trying to sort out how to use tags "properly" on tumblr: #welcome to the subtle art #of tumblr poetry (Chef's kiss! You must be a writer or something. 😂)
12 years and still reblogging strong! I think it's only in the past year that tumblr let me know i had officially posted my 100th originally-initiated-by-me post. THAT'S how much I love reblogs!
All the nostalgia feels for missing e!
Within a few months of joining, LBD launched and I truly connected with my first tumblr fan community. (Hello @anonsally @leslielikesthings @lies @scribblinaway @clavisa @matterofawesome ! Also if you are reading this and we connected through LBD and I forgot to mention you, I encourage you to reblog this post and badger me in the comments. 🤣)
#this started out as a respectable blog #and then it descended into chaos #and i couldn't be happier
Shoutout to my loves @of-a-toast-and-tea @silvericedragon @bookcoversproject (🤣) and just-recently-discovered-delight @dragons-locator , all of whom I have not yet mentioned and who are THE BEST but not connected to me through a particular fandom. 🧡
tl;dr (she writes, fully aware that this her last point): tumblr IS a high school cafeteria, and it is GLORIOUS.
if you’re a new tumblr user from tiktok or IG or something and only like posts and dont reblog them yeah people will think you’re a bot and block you but you will also make this website actively worse. they want “algorithmic” users like you, served recommended posts through likes, not people who just follow each other and respond to the direct chronological feed. there is a reason this website is still better than the rest, even with all its problems, do not ruin this

Bluesky’s Quiet Rise: Can Decentralization Win the Social Media Race
A Different Vision for Social Media
Tumblr media
As the post-Twitter landscape continues to shift, Bluesky is steadily emerging as a serious alternative. While Threads boasts over 320 million monthly users and X (formerly Twitter) still claims 600 million, Bluesky has reached 35 million users as of April 2025, according to Social Media Today. While modest by comparison, it is significant for a platform positioning itself against the norms of Big Tech.
Tumblr media
Originally funded by Jack Dorsey and now led by CEO Jay Graber, Bluesky operates on the AT Protocol–an open-source, decentralized framework that allows users to customize their feeds, port data between apps, and manage moderation independently.  As TechCrunch explains, this infrastructure poses a direct challenge to the centralized, ad-driven models that define the majority of the sector.
A Platform Built on User Trust
Bluesky’s user growth surged after controversial changes at X, including weakened block features and new terms allowing public posts to be used for AI training. The Verge notes that high-profile figures, such as Barack Obama, have since joined the platform. Others are drawn by Bluesky’s expanding features, including personalized feeds, emoji reactions in DMs, and a new “Explore” page that surfaces trending content without relying on opaque algorithms.
The platform’s open stance toward link sharing has also made it a favorite among publishers. The Boston Globe reports that Bluesky generates three times more traffic and over four times the subscription conversion rate compared to Threads, despite having a smaller user base. Unlike X, which suppresses outbound links, Bluesky encourages them—offering a rare opportunity for publishers to drive meaningful engagement without algorithmic interference.
Can Decentralization Scale?
Bluesky’s commitment to transparency and user control is refreshing—but it also comes with challenges. A 17x spike in moderation reports last year forced the company to expand its team and launch tools like Ozone, which lets users shape their own moderation experience. As the platform scales, maintaining safety without central oversight will be a major test.
Still, Bluesky doesn’t need to replace X or Threads to be relevant. As The New York Times’ Kevin Roose notes, it offers a version of social media that feels less extractive, less algorithmically manipulated, and more open-ended. That alone may be enough to ensure its place in the future of the sector.

How This One Marketing Trick Took a Crypto Project from Zero to $10M!
In the lightning-speed world of crypto, attention is everything. With thousands of tokens launching and vanishing each year, gaining visibility can feel like screaming into the void. But every once in a while, a project emerges from the shadows and captures lightning in a bottle—growing from obscurity to multi-million-dollar success seemingly overnight. That’s exactly what happened to one underdog crypto project, and the secret behind its meteoric rise? One brilliantly executed marketing move: The Viral Loop Airdrop.
Let’s break down how this one tactic transformed a ghost-town project into a $10 million phenomenon—and how you can use it to power your own crypto growth.
From Unknown to Unstoppable: The Origin Story
Like many crypto startups, the team behind this DeFi project began with little more than code, conviction, and a whitepaper. They weren’t influencers. They didn’t have institutional funding. In fact, for the first few weeks post-launch, their metrics were dismal: a few dozen Twitter followers, an empty Telegram channel, and almost zero website traffic.
They tried AMAs, joined Twitter Spaces, even cold-DM'd influencers. Still—crickets. It became clear: the old playbook wasn’t working. If they were going to survive, they needed something radical. Something viral.
The Breakthrough: Building a Viral Growth Engine
After studying growth hacks from both Web2 startups and successful Web3 communities, the team landed on a concept known as the viral loop. Unlike a standard airdrop—which gives tokens to early users with no further engagement—this strategy created an incentivized sharing ecosystem.
In simple terms, users earned tokens not just for signing up, but for bringing in friends, and even more if those friends invited others. It created a chain reaction. The more someone contributed to the project’s growth, the more they were rewarded. It flipped passive users into active marketers.
How They Built It: The Viral Loop Airdrop Structure
First, they launched a pre-token signup page, complete with wallet and email capture. Once registered, users received a unique referral link. Every time a new person joined through their link, they earned points—visible on a live leaderboard. Hitting certain thresholds unlocked increasing tiers of rewards.
This wasn’t just about free tokens. It was about gamification. Users competed for top spots, racing to unlock exclusive NFT badges, early staking access, and larger token allocations. Leaderboards were updated in real time. People bragged about their rank on Twitter. Some even ran paid ads to boost their own referrals.
Making It Easy to Share
What made the campaign truly genius was the frictionless shareability. After signing up, users were immediately shown custom content they could post on Twitter, Telegram, Discord, or WhatsApp with a single click. These posts were pre-written, visually branded, and optimized for engagement. No awkward copy-pasting. No guesswork.
This kind of plug-and-play virality made it ridiculously easy for anyone—from crypto newbies to influencers—to help spread the word. And the more they shared, the more they earned.
The Payoff: Explosive, Organic Growth
Within just 30 days, the results were staggering. Over 92,000 users signed up. The site saw more than 1 million visits, with 72% of the traffic coming directly from referral links. The Telegram group grew from under 500 to more than 35,000 members. Twitter followers surpassed 50,000.
This wasn’t paid traffic. There were no influencer deals or media placements. It was 100% organic, powered by users who were invested in the project’s success because they stood to gain from it.
The Token Launch: Turning Hype into Value
When the token officially launched, that energy turned into action. The project’s DEX launch saw over $4.2 million in trading volume within the first 48 hours. Liquidity providers poured in. The token quickly found its floor, then began to climb. In just six months, the market cap crossed the $10 million mark—and the project was still climbing.
All of this happened without a celebrity face or venture capital boost. It was powered by nothing but a smart marketing engine and a community that cared.
Why It Worked: Psychology Meets Technology
The success of this strategy wasn’t just about mechanics—it tapped into deep psychological drivers.
Social proof played a huge role. When users saw others signing up and talking about the project, they felt safer jumping in. The gamified referral structure triggered competition and urgency. The leaderboard created FOMO. People wanted to get in early and be rewarded for doing so.
But perhaps the most powerful driver? Ownership. In the Web3 world, when people feel they’re helping build something—and earning a stake—they become emotionally and financially invested.
How to Build Your Own Viral Airdrop Loop
If you’re looking to replicate this strategy, here are the tools you’ll need:
Referral Management: Tools like ReferralHero, Viral Loops, or Gleam.io can handle link generation, tracking, and scoring.
Sign-Up Capture: Use Tally, Typeform, or Premint to collect wallets and emails.
Community Gamification: Platforms like Zealy (formerly Crew3) or Galxe can add on-chain quests and rankings.
Smart Contract Integration: If you want the airdrop to be automatic, integrate wallet-based reward distribution into your smart contracts.
Make sure your campaign is mobile-friendly, bot-protected, and easy to share. The simpler it is, the faster it spreads.
Avoid These Common Pitfalls
Not all airdrops are created equal. Here are mistakes to avoid:
Overpromising Tokens: Don’t blow your tokenomics by giving away too much early.
No Anti-Bot Measures: Use CAPTCHA and wallet verifications to stop exploiters.
Lack of Follow-Up: Build a funnel. Collect emails or Discord tags to convert users post-airdrop.
No Community Support: Without active mods, viral growth can collapse into spam and confusion.
Pro Tips to Amplify the Campaign
Want to go above and beyond? Try these tactics:

Conclusion: The Real Secret Behind the $10M Growth
At its core, the Viral Loop Airdrop worked because it aligned user incentives with project growth. Instead of begging for attention, the team turned their audience into a growth engine. The airdrop became a game. The game created buzz. And the buzz created real value.

So if you’re launching a project, ask yourself:

The Do’s and Don’ts of Uploading Your Video on Apple Music Easily
Apple Music is one of the best platforms for artists to showcase their music videos to a global audience. Whether you're an independent musician or part of a record label, getting your video featured on Apple Music can significantly boost your visibility and fan engagement. However, many artists struggle with the uploading process due to common mistakes and misunderstandings. If you want to upload your video on Apple Music easily, it’s essential to follow the right steps and avoid pitfalls that could delay or even prevent your video from being accepted.
This guide will walk you through the essential do’s and don’ts of uploading videos to Apple Music, ensuring a smooth and successful submission.
The Do’s of Uploading Your Video on Apple Music
1. Use a Trusted Apple-Approved Distributor
Unlike platforms like YouTube, Apple Music does not allow direct video uploads from artists. Instead, you must use a third-party distribution service that is approved by Apple. These distributors act as intermediaries, ensuring that your video meets Apple Music’s technical and content guidelines.
Recommended Apple Music Distributors:
TuneCore – Offers video distribution services for independent artists.
CD Baby – A reliable platform that helps musicians distribute both audio and video.
DistroKid – Known for fast processing and affordable plans.
Ditto Music – Supports video uploads for eligible artists.
Choosing the right distributor will streamline the uploading process and increase the chances of your video getting approved.
2. Follow Apple Music’s Video Quality Standards
Apple Music has strict technical requirements for video uploads. To avoid rejection, ensure your video meets the following specifications:
Resolution: Minimum of 720p, but 1080p or higher is recommended for better quality.
Format: Apple Music prefers high-quality formats such as ProRes, H.264, or HEVC.
Aspect Ratio: Standard 16:9 widescreen format is ideal.
Frame Rate: Stick to 24fps, 30fps, or 60fps for smooth playback.
If your video does not meet these standards, Apple Music may reject your submission or request modifications, delaying the upload process.
3. Optimize Your Metadata for Better Discoverability
Metadata plays a crucial role in ensuring that your video reaches the right audience. Properly filled metadata helps with search rankings and discoverability on Apple Music. When submitting your video, make sure to include:
Video Title – Use a clear and engaging title that represents the content.
Artist Name – Ensure consistency with your Apple Music artist profile.
Album or Single Name – If the video is part of an album, include its name.
Genre and Tags – Add relevant genres and keywords to help users find your video easily.
Proper metadata ensures that your video appears in relevant searches and recommendations, increasing its chances of gaining views.
4. Promote Your Video After Uploading
Getting your video on Apple Music is just the first step. To maximize its reach, you need to actively promote it. Here’s how:
Share on Social Media – Post the Apple Music link on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and TikTok.
Embed on Your Website – If you have a personal website, add the video link to drive traffic.
Collaborate with Influencers – Reach out to influencers and bloggers in your music genre to share your video.
Create a Teaser – Share a short clip of the video to build anticipation.
Promotion plays a vital role in ensuring that your video gets the attention it deserves.
The Don’ts of Uploading Your Video on Apple Music
1. Don’t Upload Copyrighted Content Without Permission
Apple Music has strict copyright policies. If your video contains copyrighted material such as samples, background music, or third-party visuals, it may be taken down or rejected.
How to Avoid Copyright Issues:
Use Original Content – Make sure your video is entirely your creation.
Get Proper Licenses – If using third-party content, obtain the necessary permissions or licenses.
Avoid Unauthorized Samples – Even short clips of copyrighted music can lead to rejection.
Copyright violations can result in account suspension, so it’s best to be cautious.
2. Don’t Ignore Thumbnail and Cover Art Quality
First impressions matter. A poorly designed thumbnail or cover art can negatively affect your video’s performance on Apple Music. Make sure your thumbnail:
Is High-Resolution – At least 3000 x 3000 pixels in PNG or JPEG format.
Reflects the Video Content – Choose an image that aligns with your video’s theme.
Is Clean and Professional – Avoid overly cluttered or low-quality images.
A well-designed thumbnail increases click-through rates and viewer engagement.
3. Don’t Neglect Apple Music’s Video Guidelines
Ignoring Apple Music’s policies can lead to delays or outright rejection. Before uploading, make sure your video complies with the following:
No Explicit Content Without Proper Labeling – If your video contains explicit material, label it accordingly.
Avoid Low-Quality Production – Poorly edited or pixelated videos may not be accepted.
No Misleading Information – Ensure that all metadata and descriptions accurately represent your video.
Following these guidelines will increase the likelihood of your video being approved quickly.
4. Don’t Upload Without a Promotional Plan
Many artists make the mistake of uploading their video and expecting it to go viral on its own. Without a solid promotional strategy, even the best videos can go unnoticed.
What You Should Do Instead:
Plan a Release Date – Announce your video launch in advance to build excitement.
Use Email Marketing – Send out newsletters to your subscribers with the video link.
Engage with Fans – Respond to comments and encourage shares.
Run Paid Promotions – Consider investing in ads on Apple Music, YouTube, and Instagram to boost visibility.
A well-executed promotional strategy can make all the difference in your video’s success.
Final Thoughts
Uploading your video on Apple Music easily requires careful planning and attention to detail. By following the do’s, such as using an approved distributor, ensuring high video quality, optimizing metadata, and actively promoting your content, you can increase your chances of success. At the same time, avoiding the don’ts, like copyright violations, poor-quality thumbnails, and neglecting promotional efforts, will help you steer clear of common pitfalls.
Apple Music is a powerful platform that can elevate your career and bring your music to a global audience. Take the right steps today, and watch your video gain traction among fans worldwide. Are you ready to share your work with the world? Start your Apple Music video upload journey now!

Normally in these results posts I include some interesting/amusing analysis of the results, but as seen in yesterday's post I'm not really feeling it this week.
Instead, let's talk about something else interesting that happened with this post: it was my first experience with Tumblr's Blaze platform!
A whole bunch of information about that below the cut. ( @staff, if you're reading this, I have some ~burning~ questions for you. 😁)
I'm not sure if anyone noticed, but much to my surprise this poll was blazed on November 5th courtesy of @katco-cereal, who runs @silmarils-for-breakfast. They thought the poll was funny and had a free blaze thanks to Tumblr's new ad-free -> premium system, so why not?
What happens when your post is blazed
When someone else blazes a post of yours, you get a notification in your activity feed as well as an email. However, I first noticed because the poll had a little "fire" icon right above the notes.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So, if a post of yours gets blazed, you'll definitely know about it so long as you check tumblr and/or your email regularly.
Clicking the icon got me this notification:
Tumblr media
As you can see, anyone can blaze a post as long as your blog settings permit it and it passes moderation. However, if you blaze someone else's post they might choose to "extinguish" the campaign before it starts or is over. If this happens, you don't get a refund or your free monthly blaze campaign returned. So, be sure the original poster isn't going to be upset at being blazed or else be comfortable being out the princely sum of $10 (or however much you spent).
Why you might want to check before blazing a post
I was touched that someone found my poll funny enough to reblog, but there is a reason I might still have extinguished the campaign early: you can't edit a blazed post while it's blazing.
Obviously you already can't edit polls (a fact I approve of, actually), but I do often go back and add context to posts or links or just fix a typo or whatever. Even adding a new tag would have required ending the campaign first.
This makes sense! The post has been through moderation, and it would be a huge loophole if you could submit something unobjectionable, like Gollum singing about how he likes it raw and wriggling, and then edit the post to feature hardcore Gandalf/Balrog porn after the campaign starts. But it's something you should be aware of before blazing.
The report and how to interpret it
Here's a copy of the report I was emailed after the campaign ended. It was sent pretty quickly; clearly Tumblr puts some effort into providing a good experience for users willing to actually give them money unlike the vast majority of us.
Tumblr media
Something I have frequently lamented while running this blog is the lack of detailed stats. In particular, I would love a time-stamped breakdown of votes, so I can see exactly when a certain option took off or how getting reblogged by a certain popular blog affected things. With this report I still don't have that, but I did get some impressions stats.
As it happens, I have experience marketing and running ads on other social media platforms (mostly Twitter (RIP) and LinkedIn), so I had no trouble interpreting this. If you don't have that specific experience, however, let me break it down for you.
About impressions
According to the report, I got 3,677 impressions, 277 of which were "earned." An impression is when someone sees your post. Or, more accurately, an impression is when Tumblr puts a post on someone's dash. It's entirely possible for Tumblr to do that but for users not to actually see the post because they have some sort of ad-block in place. How exactly a platform determines if a post was seen is generally kept secret in hopes of preventing exploitation.
An "earned" impression in this context means someone saw the poll because it was blazed and decided to reblog it. Then, additional users saw their reblog. Those additional users seeing it are the "earned" impressions. Same for the other stats in this report.
Note that this report is only for impressions and other stats related to the blazed version of the post. If you saw this poll because you follow @sillylotrpolls or because someone who does reblogged it, that impression is not counted in this report.
Something else to notice is that the campaign promised that the post would be shown to "at least 2500 users." Why not make that exactly 2500 users? A few reasons come to mind. This is educated speculation as I do not work for Tumblr, but it's very likely a combination of:
Not being able to be 100% certain each user actually saw the post for above ad-blocker reasons (or if their dash just glitched for whatever reason, or the power went out as they were scrolling, or whatever).
The blaze system lags in counting how many impressions have already been served, so it's simpler to just show the post extra times rather than constantly checking to see if the count is at 2500 yet.
It's marketing technique meant to make users feel good about choosing Blaze because Tumblr is being generous with the impressions (which is fine to feel! there is nothing wrong with appreciating something nice!)
Votes = impressions?
Finally on the topic of impressions, one thing I really love about running polls is that they are a good proxy for measuring impressions without an ad campaign. When you scroll through your dash, you probably vote in most of the polls, right? Even the ones you don't like or reblog? (Actually, now that I'm saying it, I realize I'm not sure and would dearly love some stats on this.)
If you look at literally any poll on this blog, you'll see the number of votes is much higher than the number of notes. Since each user can only vote in a poll once, it makes a good estimate for how many people saw your post even if they didn't otherwise interact with it.
On the other hand, sometimes I have a poll that gets very few votes compared to other polls posted in that same time-frame. When that happens, it's probably not that I'm getting less impressions, since I can generally assume about the same number of followers are seeing each of those posts. Instead, it's much more likely that people just didn't want to vote on that particular poll.
A good example is this poll on dwarfism. I know it got at least 85 impressions, because it got that many votes, but generally other polls that didn't do well in that month got at least 200 votes or so. So votes can be a quick proxy for a proper impression count, but you have to be aware of complicating factors.
What about those other stats?
An engagement means someone interacted with the post. This includes clicks, follows, shares, replies, reblogs, and likes. It does not include votes.
A click means a user clicked on a link in your post. This is an important measurement in most "real" campaigns because you make the post trying to get people to click a link to the page selling your product or whatever. If there's no link (as was the case here), this stat will be zero no matter what.
A follow is pretty self-explanatory, but I will mention it can be difficult to capture all follows as a result of a campaign, especially if a user has turned off tracking cookies. If a user follows directly from the blazed post, of course that will be captured in the report. But what if a user sees the blazed post, then goes to check out the blog and see if they like it before deciding to follow? Depending on how the system is set up, that may or may not be reflected in the report.
The other stats I'm guessing you're familiar with if you use tumblr in any capacity at all. XD Once again, "earned" means the engagement happened on a post that was reblogged by a user who saw the post in blazed format. Interesting to me was the high ratio of reblogs to likes in the report. I'd have to see reports from additional campaigns to have any insight into whether that's common for blazed posts or specific to this one, however.
Something else I'm curious about is if any of these engagements are "hidden" in the notes until after the campaign ends. It's not going to be noticeable with reblogs or likes unless you're very meticulous, but I noticed right off that the number of replies the poll theoretically had (6) wasn't matching the number of replies I could see in the notes (4).
Usually if there's a mismatch like that I would assume it's because either I have a user blocked or visa versa, but that shouldn't be possible on my own blog, right? And if I go to check now, there are indeed the number of replies the notes say there should be, and they're timestamped Nov 5. So, I guess they were hidden? But I have no idea at all why that would be, as it would require extra code to make that happen, right? Very odd.
Is blazing a post a good idea?
Sure, if you like a post and want it to get more attention, why not? Just be sure the author (if not you) is cool with it and doesn't have plans to edit that post. However, it's also the case that a good post will probably spread around Tumblr anyway.
If I were making the call and had a set budget to work with, I'd blaze under some combination of the following circumstances:
The source blog doesn't have very many followers so the post isn't likely to be seen otherwise
The source blog has followers, but the post to be blazed would be popular with an audience beyond the typical demographics of those existing followers
Getting only a few clicks is enough to justify the cost of the campaign
Getting the post in front of users, regardless of any engagements, is enough to justify the cost of the campaign
In this case, Katco had a free blaze to burn (heh) and it was worth it to them to share the post with no potential personal return simply because they thought the post was funny and should be shared. And as a bonus, we got to learn about the Blaze process together, which was neat.
Generally, just keep your expectations realistic and remember it's only Tumblr, after all. $10 to have a little fun is perfectly justifiable if it brings you joy.
Okay, fine, a LITTLE bit of poll analysis
I said I didn't want to dig into the results, but I think we can all agree that "The monarchy is fine, but city-states like Rivendell aren't" getting 0.3% of the vote while "City-states are fine, but Galadriel should face re-election every 500 years" got 10.2% is pretty interesting, right? Can we get a Political Science major in here to dive into that result?
And how about the notion that monarchies are great so long as you like the guy in charge (17.2%)? And yeah, the Shire has democracy, but it's limited and both Merry and Pippin are part of aristocratic lines and inherit (not earn) positions of power...
Apparently even when I'm depressed, I just can't help but be interested in data. It is a sickness gift.
Finally, I'll leave you with these tags from @narcissusneverknewme:
#honestly this is a case of 'any system can fall to corruption'#our government sucks not bc it's a democracy but because its corrupt at every level of governance#lol#the bureaucracy and the fact they can just lie to citizens and do horrible harm. like red hill#or flint mi#this wouldn't happen under aragorn#not bc he's a king but bc he isn't corrupt

Facebook (2004) vs. Twitter (2006)
Originally published June 23rd, 2014
I can now say that I've used both Facebook and Twitter, arguably the most popular social networks out there.  Which one do I think is better?
Facebook had a character limit for posts at one point, but no longer does.  Any links you share have previews readily visible so you know what the link leads to.  With the relatively new timeline feature, you can pinpoint certain posts in time rather than having to scroll through a straight chronological feed.  It's personal, allowing you to like various "pages" identifying things about you, filling out a detailed "about me" section, and even displaying a relationship status.  It allows you to like various posts without treating these likes with much weight.
Connections on Facebook have to be mutual, which discourages people from becoming friends with strangers.  Facebook pages do not require this, but are not utilized in such a way.  Facebook has also found popularity with many walks of people, being considered "played out" by some communities.  For these reasons, the networking atmosphere on Facebook is not as strong.  Searches are limited to mostly people and pages, and there is no way to search for posts.
Twitter has a character limit of 140.  Its links do not feature previews and users will not know exactly what they are clicking on.  There is no way to pinpoint certain posts.  It's impersonal, allowing only for a line or two of self description.  It forces people to derive conclusions solely from posts.  It highlights your record of posts that you have favorited.
Connections on Twitter do not have to be mutual, allowing for people to follow strangers.  It has yet to be considered played out and is being utilized better for networking purposes.  Twitter features a tagging system for posts, allowing people to search a tag to see all the posts that feature it.  You can also search for people.
From this information, I would say Facebook has the better features.  Even if only considering the posts, it's easier to keep track of posts, easier to read posts, and there are no limits for writing them.  Some people prefer Twitter because it's simpler and more basic.  I like the additional features Facebook has for personalizing.  They don't have to be utilized, and many of them I don't utilize.  I also prefer Facebook's treatment of likes.
I understand Facebook's mutual connection policy as some people might want to limit the people who can see their content.  Many Facebook users don't care who sees their content and will make mutual connections with many strangers.  Twitter allows mutual connections with strangers, but overall, it does not allow for more privatized mutual connections.  I think Facebook has the better idea here.
Where I would say Twitter certainly has Facebook beat is its tagging system.  I think the ability to tag posts is fantastic for networking and ought to be more utilized on Facebook.  I do, however, wish that tags were not a part of Twitter's limited character count.  I would prefer less limiting tagging.
It would seem I would prefer Facebook; however, Twitter is currently the more popular social network.  From what I've heard, the general consensus is Twitter is a better place to network.  I find this a very curious thought.  I can't speak for technical proficiency, but it would appear that Facebook has nearly all the features Twitter has for networking aside from tags.  But I think a mindset has developed on Twitter.  People have decided to feel more comfortable interacting with strangers on Twitter than on Facebook.  The same thing with sharing the posts of other people, and posting multiple things in a short time period.  I'd be very interested to see the proponents of Twitter approach Facebook with the same open mind, though that seems very unlikely.
I would love a future where Facebook developed a sophisticated tagging system and everybody went back to it.  In that scenario, everything Twitterers loved about Twitter would be available to them.  They could write shorter posts, write them frequently, share anybody's posts, connect with strangers, neglect a detailed "about me", and network with others through tags.  But at the least, I can say I tried out Twitter.  Until recently I had only used Facebook, but I tried out a new thing and decided with an open mind which I have a preference for.
