My dear half bloods, I have a theory...
Hi, there's something that's been bugging me since the other day, when I watched the fifth episode of pjo...
Spoilers from here (and a bit of mythology)
When Ares said that he didn't like his children... Okay, I know, I know the gods in this series aren't known for paying child support, but... I think Ares case could be more heartbroken than what we can think at first.
I want to start giving a bit of context in WHY I think there's something really sad behind his words and acts. First, let's talk a bit about mythology...
Ares cares about his children... In his own way.
I'll put a couple of quick examples (just mention something and move back to my point). Ares in Greek mythology it's known for many things and one that I found interesting was that he march in battle with his sons by his side: Phobos and Deimos (fun fact 1 these two are the personification of Panic and Fear, fun fact 2 they are also sons of Aphrodite... Fun fact 3, yes, they are the little "demons" that were the minions of Hades in the Disney movie.) Ares is also known for what happened to his daughter Alcippe, who was raped by a son of Poseidon and Ares didn't took it too well... So he send that son of Poseidon to visit Hades... He unsubscribed that man from the world of the living with his spear... Ares was judged acussed by Poseidon of murder, but the goddesses voted in favor of Ares. (anyway, I invite anyone who is interested in ancient Greek mythology and culture to look up and read about women's rights in Sparta vs Athens, you might be surprised) Now, my point is that he might say that he doesn't like his kids but...
...I mean... he gave Clarisse the spear because he recognized her value as a warrior. It may sound stupid, but I think it was his way of saying that he was proud of her (and maybe he said that to her when he gave the spear to Clarisse, we don't know). What, it's clear, is the fact that she cherished that spear as if he really put all his love in it and said to her "this is my weapon, make me proud"
But why and how does he goes from "I fight with my children by my side in battle" and "don't you fucking touch my daughter" to "I hate children, even my own"?
And here's when it gets sad, I think he has lose so many of his children in battle, dying too young, that he distance himself from them on purpose to not get too attached.
We've seen, pretty well portrayed in the show, how Ares children are more reckless in battle than Athena's (it's an example because they both are deities of war) so it's more than possible that if those children are in a quest or a battle, they decide to go face to face with the big baddie just to make Ares proud or to prove themselves they are strong enough to be warriors, children of Ares... And if they survived and get older, they are the most likely to end up joining the army... aaand that exposes them to die in battle even when the monsters aren't a problem anymore.
And that's why, I think, Ares had try to detached himself from his children, because he knows demigods don't live long and even if they got to be adults, he knows his children, and probably he knows they'll become soldiers to feel the battle and feel him closer even when they already have earned a peaceful life.
And that is why I think it's sad, because he probably is so proud of them...but also, he is probably so worried about them, that he had to decide if letting himself be vulnerable and care openly for his children or bottle up all his father instincts and detach himself from his children so nobody can weaponize them against him.
Aaaaaand now I'm sad...

"Most of my toys growing up were hand-me-downs from my brothers," Wilhelm replied (rather endeared by Emily's tale of her beloved doll-though he felt it was a pity she didn't have said doll to pass down to her own children), before adding, "And even if they weren't given to me, I liked to steal toys from 'em anyways."
"And break 'em!" Callahan added with an accusatory point at his little brother, as Colin folded his arms and made a show of pouting, saying, "I've still never forgiven you for breaking the head off of my favorite toy soldier!"
"Give me a break, Col, I was a tyke! I was teething!" "Still! Couldn't you have just teethed on Cal's toys instead?" "Hey!"
The brothers all glared at one another for a long moment, scrutinizing each other for these childhood indiscretions, before just as quickly dissolving into laughter, inspiring a little laughter from the rest of the table (especially Lon and Erika, who loved seeing how animated their grandfather and uncles got when they ragged on one another) as Wilhelm, taking a sip from his water glass, finally gave Emily an answer:
"There was one time when I got something new-a hobby horse, for my sixth birthday; I was over the moon about it! I named her Epona, protector of horses, donkeys, and mules, and used to ride with her all around the house and outside in the fields. Admittedly, most of the time, it was a bit too rainy to ride her outside, but on those really nice, warm, dry days, I could be found riding around with my girl."
"Have you ever ridden a real horse?" Dorian asked curiously (he had; his father insisted he learn to ride from a very young age), to which Wilhelm shook his head, saying, "Nah, never got a chance to. Ridden a horse-drawn carts, 'course, but not so much on horseback proper. Would like to someday, though-it seems like fun."
@beatingheart-bride
"I admit, I'm a bit indecisive when it comes to my favorite fruit," August admitted with a smile to Erika, as he helped himself to a little red beans and rice. "I love peaches, but I do also love strawberries-on any given day, I could name either as my favorite."
"Do you like peach cobbler, or peaches and cream better?" Erika asked over her little plate of chicken nuggets and mac 'n cheese (matching her brother's meal), a small part of her glad to know she wasn't the only one who found it hard to pick a favorite. At this, August replied, "It's hard to decide, isn't it? If you twisted my arm, I'd likely choose cobbler, but...a little peaches and cream is more than welcome in my book."
"Strawberries are gross..." Lon groused with a little pout, while Erika conceded, "They're okay, I guess." She didn't have as big a reaction to eating them as her brother did; while she only made a little face upon trying them before pushing the little bowl of berries away, Lon had made quite a show of his disdain for the flavor, much to his parents' amusement, with Randall chuckling as he dug into his crawfish boil, "I really thought they'd take to 'em as quickly as I did, but no dice-more for me then, I suppose!"
"What about you, Dorian?" Josephine asked curiously, as she took another sip of Guinness, which she quite liked. "Do you have a favorite fruit?"
"I admit, when it comes to sweets, I tend to reach for a good piece of chocolate, but cards on the table, I quite like citrus, especially lemon. Lizzie's mother Lena loves to work with lemon in her cooking, even outside of her wonderful lemonade, so I guess it's no grand surprise I enjoy it so much," Dorian smiled with a shrug, before adding, "Lizzie and I compliment each other in that sense-she likes orange the best."
"Ah, you're a couple after my own heart then!" Josephine grinned brightly. "My friends and I loved to play around and make all sorts of drinks at each other's houses when we weren't working, and I always loved a nice, crisp vodka and orange juice mixed together after hours."
"What's vodka?" Erika asked curiously, to which her great-grandmother replied, "It's a grown-up drink made out of potatoes."
"Ew!" Lon gagged from his seat, at which Josephine giggled amusedly at his response, assuring him, "It doesn't really taste like potatoes, I promise. But it's nothing you two need to worry about-juices are better for you anyways."
Neither Lon nor Erika had any arguments about this, continuing to enjoy their meal and drinks without a second thought, with the topic eventually shifting to the twins' birthday, which got the pair all sorts of excited-though they did both sigh, "Awww..." when their father gently reminded them not to get nosy about learning any of the details for the party-they didn't want to spoil any of the surprises, now did they?

All right, one more post on this topic. I actually commented with this on someone else's post and then deleted it because I felt like I was ranting excessively at someone who didn't ask to hear from me (sorry), but it's still worth saying somewhere.
If you're making noises about wanting to unsubscribe from Prime because you're mad about not getting as much of Good Omens as you want:
A: Sure. You can. It's your money; you absolutely have the right to decide where you want it to go. But know that you're doing it for you. Amazon's too big to either notice or care.
B: There are so, so, so many reasons to be angry at Amazon, but "backed away from a sexual abuser and changed plans with his TV show" is A VALID GODDAMN DECISION.
You want to get mad about something that matters? Try something like "oh, hey, the newspaper Jeff Bezos bought with Amazon money is basically sucking fascist dick now and distorting the national conversation about politics," which is the topic you'll actually be hearing about on social media today if you poke at "boycott Amazon" trending topics. It may only be peripherally connected to Amazon in the first place (again, they've got their own issues to be mad about), but still makes more* sense.
And yet, brutal truth time, whether or not a relative handful of people subscribe to Prime will make no difference about that. They're too big and have too many other revenue streams to care. I mean, good luck boycotting Amazon when they're probably hosting half of the other websites you use on their cloud computing platform. Even Netflix and Disney+ are hosted on AWS. You support Amazon when you support their competitors.
I always think of my best friend's mom refusing to buy Nestlé products back in the '80s because of all their corporate bullshit, which was very real bullshit, but which is also still going on, completely unaffected by whichever chocolate chip brand anybody buys. Some companies are too big to dent with anything except legislation, unfortunately.
*If you want to do something that makes the most sense, cancel your WaPo subscription! ...although the chance anyone reading this has one seems a wee little bit low.

I made the disney subscription only for jikook not for taekook and to see jm hated. I will cancel everything. I don't care. I won't watch the show anymore. And disney sucks anyway.
I, too, subscribed to Disney just for this, but I won't unsubscribe. Think about it this way, if all of us JM lovers don't watch the show, who will be there for JM? JM made this for us to be able to enjoy and not miss him so much. Do we really want all of his efforts to go to waste and no fans of his own to watch him? It saddens me to think how excited he was, only for them to have just haters and taekookers watch and mock him. I know he won't ever know who watched it, but at least by watching and interacting with content from the show, there will be some positive reactions as well.
I simply can not abandon something JM worked hard on and leave him to the dogs.

I haven’t been perusing this site to find out if someone’s already made this post but:
Uscpr.org: legitimate site that gives you the option to donate (as low as $5.00) and take action via calling congress, drafting an email urging for a ceasefire (with many details you should become familiar with) that automatically goes to your representatives, and other emails for other issues. I recommend personalizing it as well. I added further statistics, “open air prison” documentation, Rachel Corrie, etc.
Also I know my people so I’m emphasizing that you need to email your representative/s! People write them off because they’re "less important" but they’re the best access point to the federal government! I’ve sent follow up emails with updates and I like telling them they’re actively splitting the blue vote. I’ve started bugging other reps just because I can lol. If anyone wants some extra email templates I will give you some.
More legitimate avenues for donations:
MECA: Middle East Children's Alliance
PCRF: Palestinan Children's Relief Fund
UNRWA: United Nations Relief and Works Agency
Other avenues to show support:
Paliroots: Founded by siblings in 2016 in San Diego, for every order placed they donate a meal and every $25 they donate another. They partner with the previous organizations and more to fund other projects throughout the year. Their main goal has always been to spread awareness of Palestinian culture. They have a beautiful traveling Palestine series.
Boycott: Disney, Starbucks, McDonalds, Burger King, Subway, Dominos, Nestle, Coca Cola, Pepsi, Sprite… pretty much every mega corporation you can think of lol, this one’s hard if your trying to avoid them all but mostly just avoid Disney, Starbucks, and McDonalds. Leave a message stating why if you’re unsubscribing from rewards/streaming.
This is just off the top of my head, I'll update if needed lol.

Bonus step unsubscribe from Disney Plus
OK THIS IS NOT A FUCKING DRILL EVERYONE FUCKING REPEAT AFTER ME. THIS IS WHAT YOU WILL DO WHEN YOU WATCH MUPPET CHRISTMAS CAROL THIS YEAR:
You will navigate to the page on disney plus (and it has to be here. Unless someone has actually uploaded the REAL movie anywhere else you cannot get it elsewhere)
BUT YOU WILL NOT HIT PLAY. You won’t do it. Because it’s NOT THE REAL VERSION OF THE FILM AND DISNEY IS FUCKING LYING TO YOU AS IT ALWAYS DOES
Tumblr media
You will scroll down HERE. To EXTRAS instead. You MUST GO HERE. This is non -negotiable
Tumblr media
THEN YOU WILL SCROLL DOWN TO THE BOTTOM OF THE EXTRAS AND YOU WILL THEN HIT PLAY ON THIS BAD BOY: THE FULL LENGTH VERSION
And you will watch it. And you will thank me for having been so blind and led astray by that stupid fucking mouse. You’re welcome.

I swear to GOD I did not manipulate this, that much. Stg. I am literally overjoyed though 2000 comment threads is wild and I have been refreshing for three days to make sure I could screenshot it lmao I am just so happy. I cannot even express
also shoutout to my AO3 subscribers because for the first 10 chapters of posting my Les Mis fic no one unsubscribed from me until last week when three people did lmao (not complaining! I actually thought it was impressive that more people didn’t get sick of having this thing in their inbox. I hate emails and I would’ve unsubscribed from me already 😂)
that said I do have a Star Wars oneshot that I HOPE I will post next month (for asylum’s 10 year anniversary can you fucking believe that) but after that I’m probably mostly done with writing for Star Wars. It’s been amazing but I just don’t have anything else to say that I haven’t already said and I don’t have any motivation. Ideas yes I definitely have ideas. But no motivation unfortunately. And I’m not interested in any of the new Disney content so yeah. End of an era
anyway i don’t post here so i don’t have a lot of followers but to anyone who sees this I just want to say thank you thank you thank you to everyone who has ever been one of those numbers up there ^^^ it’s been wild and 99% of that is from the last 10 years and it’s just kinda crazy that it’s been that long. I wrote Asylum in college and I have grey hairs now guys. Only three but it’s devastating

6 Money Traps That Are Quietly Draining Your Wallet
Cutting These Habits Might Save You Thousands Without Ruining Your Lifestyle
We all possess spending habits that seem innocent in the moment but quietly add up to a money pit. After watching hours and hours of personal finance programming, one thing becomes clear: individuals hold on to wantons out of habit, convenience, or comfort.
If you're wealthy and content, go ahead and spend your money as you please. But if you're in debt or struggling financially, these seemingly minor leaks may be what's keeping you trapped.
Let's examine in greater detail six prevalent spending habits that provide little long-term utility but cost you much more than you realize.
Tumblr media
Subscription Content Platforms Services like OnlyFans aren’t inherently bad — people are free to enjoy what they want. But the monthly charges often sneak up. $9.99 here, $12.99 there… it stacks up fast. And with so much free content available elsewhere, it’s worth asking yourself: is this really worth the ongoing cost?
The same logic applies to niche subscription platforms. Always audit what you’re actually using.
Food Delivery Apps (DoorDash, Uber Eats, etc.) Convenience is expensive. A $10 in-store meal could easily be $25 with delivery charges, tip, and service fee. Charge that by the number of nights you don't feel like cooking, and you're easily burning hundreds a month.
A wiser option? Prep easy meals ahead of time or use pickup. Same food, less fee.
Trendy Wellness Products From detox teas to costly supplements that vow improved sleep or gut health, the wellness world lives on unsubstantiated claims. Although some products are worth it, some are merely costly placebos with fine marketing.
Before purchasing the next gummy miracle or subscription box, ask: is this science-based, or is it based on selling me healthy?
Fancy Coffee Every Morning A $6 latte doesn't sound like a lot — until it's every day. That's $180 a month, or more than $2,000 a year. It's not the caffeine for many, but the ritual. Yet, brewing at home can save you a little money, particularly if you can make it exactly as you prefer.
It's fine to indulge — just keep an eye on the total cost.
Streaming Services You Never Use Netflix, Hulu, Disney+, HBO, Spotify, Apple TV, Amazon Prime… how many do you actually use every month? Most people sign up, forget, and continue to get charged.
Check your subscriptions every 2–3 months. Unsubscribe anything you haven't used. You can always subscribe again later — most sites even remember your watch history.
In-App Game Purchases Gaming's a blast — but $20 here, $50 there for skins, power-ups, or coins quick adds up. These microtransactions are engineered to circumvent your logical brain. You're not purchasing value, you're purchasing hits of dopamine.
If you're on a budget, try putting a monthly limit on it or just avoiding in-app buys altogether. Play the game — don't let the game play your wallet.
Final Thought: You Don't Have to Be Miserable to Save Cutting back isn't cutting out fun. It's spending mindfully. When you cease throwing money at things that are useless, you're opening up space for experiences and objectives that are meaningful.
Take a moment before your next click to purchase and ask: "Do I really need this… or is it habit?"
