        She smiled from where she knelt, hand still outstretched from where she had been petting the animal, before straightening with a shrug. “They could hardly hurt me regardless.” Animals, as odd as it seemed, held an affinity for her. One would think they’d register her as a predator, but perhaps she had worn the flesh of humanity long enough not to alarm them. “How are you this evening, Will?”
