While appearing the most absurd to modern eyes, Cressida Copwer's hairstyles are based on styles less than a decade ahead in the Bridgerton timeline. The topknot had become a highly fashionable feature in women's hairstyles by the 1810s and continued to get taller during the second half of the decade. Simple designs gave way to complicated braids, ribbons, fabrics, flowers, feathers and bejeweled coiffures. By the first half of the 1830s the topknot was at its ornate pinnacle with large, high-flying flat bows and loops of hair that we see used on Cressida.
