So I went all the way to the bottom of my askbox and I discovered this absolute masterpiece of a question. I love this, 10/10. So firstly, you know how some people say they don't get the dear over vampires because if a hot person wanted to suck their blood and fuck them then they'd love it? Yeah that's aegon, absolutely zero reservations he realises he's caught the attention of a very attractive vampire and he drives in headfirst.

I think this makes the most sense if the supernatural were normal in this au, but I think vampires would still have a pretty bad rep? They're known for being lone wolfs who use people and can easily hurt others and generally dont tend to be seen very often.

You notice Aegon for the first time at a pub, and of course he's surrounded by people because he's the king. He looks around the room at one point and spots you in the shadows. He's not sure what makes him do it, but he decides to go over to you.

You know who he is of course, but you don't address him as 'your grace' and instead just chuckle and call him pretty boy. Which... from that moment he's hooked.

You end up in his bed at the red keep, and you don't even feed off him that night, instead it's just sex. Which... you may have just ruined Aegon for everyone else because he's pretty sure he saw god during his third orgasm. Once you wake up, you quickly realise you have a slight problem. You hadnt intended to spend the night, and you should have fed at least a little last night (instead you just fucked the king, which, fair enough).

Aegon is worried when you push him out of your arms, and he's looking at you with these wide puppy eyes and batting at your arms, trying to get you to open them again. He's just very needy little thing.

You tell him that you loved the night before and he was perfect, but now you have to get going because you haven't fed in a while. You expect this to be a good enough reason, but it's not to him. When he hears that, he simply holds his arm out for you, wrist up.

You push it away and look away from him, not wanting to lose control but he's insistent. You rocked his world the night before, and he wants to help!! I knows you won't kill him, so he wants to help!

You give in, even though you know you shouldn't, and end up drinking from him. If there's one thing Aegon didnt expect, it's how good it felt? It feels insane, so so so good.

You don't drink much out of fear of hurting him, but you drink enough and the moment you pull away, aegon is moving forwards and back into your arms.

Needless to say, you return to the castle very often.

(Sidenote: what about the reverse of this with Aemond? He's the vampire and he pretty much just follows the reader around like a lost puppy. He won't feed from anyone else, he'd rather starve than feed from another)

I feel like I write about this twice a month but it irks the f*ck out of me. Veilguard has recently become the gimme for PS Plus and an entire slew of new content about how awful the game is because of “Woke” is flooding the internet. This sh*t annoys the f*ck out of me because, as a Black dude in America, it was my culture which coined the term. It originally meant to be aware of your standing in a society built on discrimination and oppression. My ancestor’s slave labor in the past, literally built this ungrateful ass country into the economic powerhouse that it’s become in the current era. When the term was co-opted by other persecuted groups, we wholly accepted them into the flock. That’s a unique thing about the Black plight. We fight for everyone, not just ourselves, but that sentiment of comradely is rarely reciprocated. It’s always bewildering to me seeing proper Africans or Mexicans side with the oppressor against those filthy Blacks because they see themselves as our better but, in reality, to the oppressors, they’re just as trash. Useful idiots that can be pointed to in order to dismiss our very real, very lived, experienced. But that’s a topic for another day. My focus with this rant is to explain, for the umpteenth time, that Wokeness isn’t some toxic ideal that is rotting away at “traditional American values”. Historically, they should go hand-in-hand. Melting pot and all. It’s just that, as time has gone on and a slew of asshole neckbeards have been given an amplified microphone due to the interwebs, the true meaning of woke has been lost in the shuffle of childish, immature, tantrums fueled bigoted hate.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard is a bad game. There is a myriad of reasons why this sh*t sucks but, the biggest reason of all, is the writing. That sh*t is awful as hell. Dialogue is cheesy and forced, the character work is even worse than f*cking Andromeda, and the overall plot of the game is trash. Coming off the excellent and my favorite of the series, DA: Inquisition, watching a playthrough of Veilguard was pure disappointment. I can forgive a shift in art direction but to deliver such awful, churlish, writing is a cardinal sin. Especially for a Bioware game. You want to soft reboot the franchise? Bring in an entirely different set of players? Go for it. There are ways to execute that without alienating former fans. You have to be clever with your word and properly build an epic which passes that torch. You respect what came before while simultaneously setting the ground work for something new. The Persona franchise is great at this sh*t. We’re five games in, with five separate narratives, each paying homage to the formers while telling their own, compelling ass story. Nothing compels you with The Veilguard and that’s the problem. It’s not the fact that Taash his non-binary and won't shut the f*ck up about it or that you can add top surgery scars to your character or that all of the “female” characters tend to look real dude-ish or the fact they kill off a fan favorite character early on or any of the other superficial reasons people hate this game. The Veilguard is bad the same reason all “Woke” sh*t is bad: Terrible goddamn writing and even worse execution of it. It’s fine to be Woke, you just cant be lazy about it. Case in point, f*cking Baldur’s Gate 3.

BG3 is the anti Veilguard in a lot of ways. It’s a Woke ass game that never oversteps its diversity or forces it down your throat with clumsy interactions. It’s never preachy about its Wokeness and, indeed, you wouldn’t even know how Woke the game is with how deft Larian executes it. I can’t speak to the trans representation in the game, don’t recall ever coming across anything like it. Maybe Nine-Fingers. I remember Jaheira alluding to something along those lines if you take her with during that first meeting but I could be wrong. That said, lesbian demigod and her priest lover fight off her intolerant father? Gay vampire confronting his abuser? Black warlock returning home to save his reagent father and then ascending to the highest chair in all of Baldur’s Gate? One of the main villains is a corrupt politician who manipulates his way into power, who also sold off one of your companions into Hells slavery? All of that is Woke! All of it! And that’s just the sh*t I can think of off the top of my head! And it won game of the year! Baldur’s Gate 3 is a masterpiece BECAUSE of its Wokeness. The gay vampire is one of the best characters ever written, with a depth you rarely see in a single video game. So is the hot, goth, ninja, priestess! The same people who despise Veilguard, heap unanimous praise of BG3. Why? It has much better writing and even better character work. Larian wasn’t lazy about executing their messaging. They took their time and developed an engrossing story, filled with ideals and agenda, which was masked by brilliantly developed plot and timeless characters. That’s the key to all of this; You can be Woke as f*ck as long as you’re clever with it. Preach your sermon, just make it entertaining and engaging.

There are points in which I believe this story is calm and tranquil depending on the situation - take the moment in the restaurant for example, or various soft/romantic moments that the reader is subjected to. Of course, it is a Vampire fiction, so the element of thrill would naturally be quite high :D
