Sara's eyes snap open. The pain is nothing but a distant memory now. It has been replaced by hunger.

She can tell that the room is dark, but her eyes pierce the black veil and reveal everything around her in shimmering shades of red. New, never-before-felt vigor fills her body. The muscles in her arms are stronger and move faster. Despite the hunger, her mind is sharp as a razor.

Exhaling, she sits up. Her heartbeat thumps in her ears with a steady, intense beat. In the corner, she spots someone. A woman kneeling over something she cannot see. Her body is pulsating with red light. The smell of blood permeates the air. It frees her mind of compassion, hesitation, and doubt.

Without a sound, and her eyes fixed on the woman, Sara rises to her feet.

Vampires are humanoids forced to feed off the life force of others to sustain themselves. They do not eat, they do not sleep and they live forever. Through their bite, they spread the disease that precursors their curse.
