I know I've complained a lot about Vapor's automatic jumpscare being a terrible mechanic that goes against everything the game stands for and should be removed. But what I haven't done as much is suggest a replacement. I'll go over a few ideas that could work.

Just give him a chase theme and stop trying to make this mechanic work. There's probably already a few fan made ones that it could be based on, or it could be entirely original. I think this is the best solution, but obviously it would take a good bit of work.

Have the scare be transparent, like Springtrap's Phantom Walk jumpscare.

Have the scare fade in, kind of like PCX's scare.

Make it like the Elder Guardian from Minecraft, where it's transparent and slides down the screen. As a bonus, this would be very easy to add to Beware The Rain as well, making the characters synced up once again.

Have him just cover up the part of your HUD that shows health, stamina, etc. but make him stay there a good bit longer. Not only would this not be that hard, but it would also be a pretty nice buff, actually. And buffing Vapor every patch seems to be bladeninja's main goal right now, so it could work.

Have the scare play for a much shorter duration, and only when you're hit by a spider skull.

Just... Remove it? The character was perfectly fine without it, as was the case for several months. If anything, he needs a nerf right now, and this would be a decent enough way to do it. Hell, maybe give him like 5 extra stamina to make up for it.

Any one of these would work perfectly fine and make the game much better.

Oh also please make POW Hop instakills activate the bloodlust effect. It's really weird how they don't and I have lost multiple games due to not getting the bloodlust xray with 2 players remaining

The PC2 wiki claims that Valem alludes to there being demons higher up than him and barely being above the spooky sibs rank and while I honestly don’t see that in his dialogue, the concept could 100% be something.

Like.

Valem is higher up on the totem pole than the two of them on account of being fully demonborn and not a former human, but even then he’s not quite high-ranking either. Despite his intelligence, skill and elegance, its undeniable that other demons look down on him. There’s some very deepseated anger and insecurity from that. He calls Rosemary and Vapor “just soldiers”, but he knows damn well that hell’s bigwigs hardly see him as more than that.

So? He recruits the two of them to help him get the void star- for power. And he tries to deny it, act better, like they’re scum beneath his feet. But he needs them in order to get what he wants.
