CTMS and CCAP Market Trends: Shaping the Future of Cable Access Technology
The cable modem termination system (CMTS) and converged cable access platform (CCAP) market is projected to grow from USD 6.7 billion in 2024 and is expected to reach USD 10.4 billion by 2029, growing at a CAGR of 9.3% from 2024 to 2029.
Increased investment in broadband services is one of the key driving factors for the market; compared to fiber optic networks upgrading existing cable networks with CMTS and CCAP is a more cost-effective solution for many service providers. This makes it an effective option for both established players and those expanding their service offerings in developing regions.
CCAP and CMTS systems with integrated edge computing capabilities can deliver a more responsive and seamless user experience and can prioritize and process critical data locally, optimizing bandwidth usage and ensuring a consistent and reliable user experience.
Download PDF Brochure: https://www.marketsandmarkets.com/pdfdownloadNew.asp?id=120044037
Converged Cable Access Platform segment is expected to witness highest CAGR during the forecast period.
Due to the increasing integration of video and data services. CCAP enables the convergence of video and data services on a single platform. This integration streamlines network architecture, reduces operational complexity, and enhances the efficiency of delivering both video and broadband services over cable networks. The cable industry's move towards Distributed Access Architectures (DAA) involves distributing the traditionally centralized functions of the CMTS (Cable Modem Termination System) closer to end-users. CCAP facilitates this transition, improving network efficiency, scalability, and reducing latency.
Virtual CMTS in the CMTS market to witness highest CAGR during the forecast period.
The broader trend of network virtualization and the adoption of Software-defined Networking (SDN) principles have influenced the development and deployment of vCMTS. Virtualization allows for more flexibility, scalability, and efficient resource utilization. It enables cable operators to optimize network resources by running CMTS functions on standard commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) hardware. This can lead to cost savings in terms of capital expenses and operational expenses, as it eliminates the need for dedicated and proprietary hardware.
DOCSIS 3.1 Standard  is expected to hold the  largest market share in the CMTS and CCAP market by 2029.
DOCSIS 3.1 introduces improvements in spectral efficiency, allowing cable operators to make more efficient use of the available spectrum. DOCSIS 3.1 offers significantly higher speeds compared to its predecessors (up to 10 Gbps downstream and 1 Gbps upstream), making it a crucial upgrade for cable operators to meet these demands.  The popularity of streaming platforms like Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime Video requires significant bandwidth. DOCSIS 3.1's increased capacity allows cable operators to deliver these services smoothly without buffering or lag, enhancing user experience and potentially increasing customer satisfaction. This optimization helps increase overall network capacity and deliver higher data rates without requiring additional spectrum allocation.
CMTS and CCAP market in the Asia Pacific estimated to grow at the fastest rate during the forecast period.
The increasing population and urbanization in many countries within the Asia Pacific region contribute to a higher concentration of potential broadband subscribers, due to which this region has been experiencing a surge in demand for high-speed internet services due to the growing use of bandwidth-intensive applications, such as streaming, online gaming, and remote work. Moreover, Asia Pacific is also a major hub for consumer electronics, automotive, and industrial verticals. This region has become a global focal point for large investments and business expansions. Factors such as these are eventually driving the market for CMTS and CCAP.
Key Market Players Major vendors in the CMTS and CCAP companies include CommScope (US), Cisco Systems, Inc. (US), Casa Systems (US), Harmonic Inc. (US), Nokia (Finland), Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. (China), Broadcom (US), Juniper Networks, Inc. (US), Jinghong V & T technology Co., Ltd. (China), and Sumavision (China), among others.

4th Gen Intel Xeon: Turbocharge Broadband Performance
Tumblr media
Intel Xeon Performance and power savings for broadband are increased by 4th Gen Intel Xeon processors
According to the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, the networking sector is often one of its busiest during the first quarter of the year.  There, Intel had a significant presence and demonstrated how our most recent 4th Gen Xeon Scalable processors carry on a long legacy of innovation and have become the industry’s first option to power network components like the 5G core and virtualized RAN.
Not to be outdone, the last three months of the year focus more on the wireline and broadband sectors of the network business.  The SCTE Cable Tec Expo, taking place in Denver, Colorado from October 16 to 19, offers a chance to see the outstanding development taking place at the network’s edge.  At the edge, users on wired and wireless networks, including those of us who often work from home, rely on the service to provide the bandwidth, low latency, and security we need for both work and play.
In this post, he will go into detail about how Intel and our ecosystem are setting the standard in the cable and convergent access sectors, allowing service providers to benefit from the same features seen in our most recent CPUs that we unveiled at MWC.
These advantages were first felt in the data center, then moved to the core, and are now reaching the periphery. Here, service providers are utilizing our most recent 4th Gen Xeon Scalable processors‘ numerous new features and cloud native architecture to deliver the necessary performance while also processing data in a more power-efficient manner with fewer servers, ultimately resulting in a lower total cost of ownership (TCO).
Cable
Let’s start by examining the cable business, where we are now at a turning point. The majority of the multi-service operators (MSOs) in this sector are starting to implement and reap the rewards of virtualizing the Cable Modem Termination System (vCMTS).  Cable MSOs have moved to enhance their network infrastructure to satisfy customer demand as the need for video, broadband access, work-from-home consumer behavior, and data services continues to rise.
MSOs have opted for a general-purpose server-based virtualized CMTS that offers notable performance throughput, scalability, and service agility while also using less power and taking up less space (rack space).
By utilizing the open-source software DPDK and integrated accelerators to meet DOCSIS privacy and security standards, such as Intel QAT, Intel AVX-512, and AES encryption engines, our 4th Gen Intel Xeon Scalable Processors offer a new microarchitecture designed to address the most dynamic and demanding wireline and wireless workloads.  Without our ecosystem, we are unable to provide the MSOs these advantages.  Our partners demonstrated our ongoing cooperation earlier this year, including:
In a whitepaper, Harmonic, our Emmy-winning partner, describes how their CableOS vCMTS software grows quickly to provide high-speed data services everywhere.  This vCMTS platform’s use of 4th Gen Xeons also results in reduced infrastructure costs as well as decreased power, cooling, and cabling needs.
In their whitepaper, Casa Systems showcases their Axyom vCCAP, which boosts performance by 65% and supports DOCSIS 4.0 with the newest 4th Gen Intel Xeon CPU.  This enhancement was made possible by new DPDK API capabilities, integrated QAT for DOCSIS encryption, and CRC offload and acceleration.
At CableLabs in August, CommScope showcased their vCore vCMTS compatibility with DOCSIS 4.0 cable modems before launching their vCore solution on 4th Gen Xeon CPUs.
Fiber Internet
Let’s move on to the next section, where we’ll look at how service providers are using cloud native architecture to enhance performance, efficiency, agility, and scalability.  The BNG at the central office edge location serves as the major network component in this scenario.  Access to the internet is made possible by the BNG, which collects data flow from various residences and places of business.
The advantages of using a cloud-native based architecture and 4th Gen Xeon Scalable processors to deliver the speed and power savings provided during packet processing, authorisation, and authentication are being investigated by Communication Service Providers (CoSPs), much like the cable MSOs.
In this area, too, our partners have been working assiduously, and they keep showcasing how the characteristics of our CPUs combined with their software are setting the standard for the sector.  You may learn more about the following highlights by reading the whitepapers:
Axyom vBNG, a CUPS-based cloud native vBNG with performance throughput of 540 Gbps and scalability to 1 Tbps utilizing a single socket 4th Gen Xeon server, was featured by Casa Systems.
Using just 2U of rack space and a 4th Gen Xeon, netElastic increased vBNG performance throughput by 46% (generation over generation) and is scalable to 1 Tbps.

VCC PIDP Blog
My Registered Massage Therapy career started in 2011 after graduating from WCCMT in New Westminster. I practiced full time at Electra Health Floor for almost 7 years and am currently at The Workshop Performance Clinic in Chinatown. I have enjoyed the manual aspect of being an RMT for all these years but have found that being a part time outreach instructor is very fulfilling and now my favourite days of the week.
I was offered the outreach instructor opportunity by one of my former instructors through Vancouver Career College back in 2015. I was nervous but excited to be working in a hospital setting at UBC hospital where the students massaged staff members. Unfortunately the staff were often too busy to find time for themselves so the program was terminated in 2017. Fortunately the school was able to acquire Emerge, a Drug & Alcohol Rehabilitation program where I have had the privilege of supervising for the last six years.
At the start of this year I was hired by VCMT as an Outreach instructor at Friends for Life Society, one of my favourite outreaches when I was a student.  I have helped out at VCMT during final exams, at the student clinic and twice as a T.A. Being in front of a full classroom was nerve-wracking at first but I had a lot of fun and can see myself in this role in the near future.
A few months ago I was awarded a Scholarship for the PIDP course by the RMTBC association. I am very grateful for their support.
Being a full time instructor at an RMT school is part of my five year plan. Either here in Vancouver where there are lots of opportunities, or closer to my family in the Kootenays; either Vernon or Nelson.
Once this course is complete, I will decrease my days at the clinic to one or two and hopefully be able to be hired as a T.A. for a manual skills class where I know I would be a great fit.
I am hoping that this course will prepare me for my long-term goal of being the main instructor in the classroom and/or virtually.

DNM April 16-17, 2022: A manual therapy approach for treating persistent pain with Michael Reoch, RMT
This course is held in the traditional and unceded Musqueam Territory. A donation of $10.00 per student will be made to Charitable donations in support of the IRSSS https://www.irsss.ca/donate
What Is Dermoneuromoduating?
an explanation for a new manual therapy approach
Work smarter not harder to save your body while improving your treatment outcomes. The term DNM Stands for Dermo (skin) Neuro (nervous system) Modulation (a change from one state to another). It is an approach of manual therapy/massage therapy used to change the state of the nervous system from a painful hyperactive state to a less painful and reactive one. Diane Jacobs, a Canadian PT with 40 years of experience, developed DNM to better treat people with chronic and persistent pain. I have had the lucky pleasure to directly learn from and work with Diane over the last four years.
In the world of Manual Therapy (MT) there seems to be hundreds of techniques and methods that attempt to approach treating people in pain. They all can agree that we push-pull and twist skin directly and soft tissue indirectly. The speed, duration, and force of these maneuvers may be different but the underlying mechanistic effects all follow the same rules.
Lately, there has been a large growth in research around the mechanisms of massage and other manual therapies with a drift into the neuroscience involved in pain.
Two processes seem to be apparent when we look at the research:
The effects of touch have strong psychological and physiological effects.
The nervous system controls these effects.
If we are to use Manual Therapy as a treatment for pain resolution, we should understand pain physiology within a social, biological, and psychological framework.
What we know from studying the non-specific effects of physical medicine is that we should strive for a treatment environment that creates the least amount of threat to the person being treated; therefore, We should act, dress, and keep the treatment space in a way that won’t put the patient on the defensive.
We know that we touch the skin primarily in manual therapy and that the skin is intimately tied into the nervous system embryologically as both arrive from the ectoderm.
We know that the Nervous System makes up around 2% of our body by weight but uses 20% of our O2 and Glucose at all times.
The nervous system carries impulses from the peripheral (and from within) which are processed in the spinal chord and brain to create an output response. If the impulses are deemed dangerous enough the output is pain.
We know that pain is a complex process that depends on contextual, psychological, and biological factors that mostly happen without our conscious perception and that pain can’t happen without a nervous system.
There are 72 kilometers of nerves in the human body and are intimately connected to the vascular system millimeter by millimeter.
Nerves do not respond well to sustained mechanical deformation specifically, compression more than stretch.
Dermoneuromodulating is a method that attempts to take these facts as an underlying framework for an interactive, hands-on, approach to treating the experience of pain. It considers the nervous system of the patient to treat from “skin cell to sense of self”. Techniques are usually light and holds are slow. Limbs and trunk are positioned to affect deeper nerve structures in combination with skin stretch. This is done to potentially shorten and widen a nerve's container thus reducing mechanical deformation of the nerve.

Speed Test Open
Tumblr media
Find out the open source way, with fio. The actual workload of a typical disk doesn't look like that—and that 'simple speed test' doesn't reproduce a lot of the bottlenecks that slow down. This open-source Windows application tests your download speed on a set interval and logs the test results to a CSV text file. The logger also monitors service interruptions (PC offline/online) and IP address changes. Here are your options: Download the Speed Test Loggger (Only 1.7 MB, runs on Windows 7, 8, 10 and so on.).

Comcast, the largest U.S. provider of gigabit broadband Internet services, has demonstrated internet speeds greater than 4 gigabits per second (Gbps) in both directions over a cable network.
The test was conducted on Broadcom’s full duplex DOCSIS 4.0 chip, which will support future multigigabit upload and download speeds. By full duplex, it means that the upstream speed is the same as the downstream speed. Normally, most people can get access to a gigabit per second download speeds, but uploading crawls at maybe 20 megabits per second.
The test is part of Comcast’s long-term plan to reach 10G, or 10 gigabits a second full duplex, over its hybrid-fiber coaxial (HFC) network. The HFC network uses the blazing fast fiber-optic network technology as well as coaxial cables that come into our homes.
https://foxpin51.tumblr.com/post/653552030638587904/att-speed-test-ookla. Supported by the research arm of the cable industry, Cable Labs, Comcast is creating its 10G Platform as a multi-year, global technology initiative that will dramatically increase speed and capacity over HFC networks. During the pandemic, this kind of internet speed is critical, as Comcast saw its traffic rise 32% in 2020.
Behind the trial
Above: Comcast has been laying a lot of cable.
This trial begins to lay the groundwork for network operators like Comcast to deliver multigigabit download and upload speeds over connections that are already installed in hundreds of millions of homes worldwide. Cable operators in the U.S. have already installed networks that pass 85 percent of U.S. homes.
The Broadcom chip is expected to become the world’s first production silicon to be developed using the DOCSIS 4.0 Full Duplex standard, which represents an evolutionary leap forward in the ability to deliver ultra-fast speeds over HFC networks. One of the most important breakthroughs in the DOCSIS 4.0 standard is the ability to use network spectrum more efficiently, allowing operators to dramatically increase upstream speeds without sacrificing downstream spectrum to do so, Comcast said.
A key advantage of DOCSIS 4.0 Full Duplex is that it establishes a foundation for operators to deliver multigigabit speeds over their existing networks to the connections already in hundreds of millions of homes around the world, without the need for massive digging and construction projects.
Comcast technologists in Philadelphia and Denver conducted the test by installing the Broadcom SOC in a simulated network environment to track the performance of its Full Duplex DOCSIS features (including echo cancellation and overlapping spectrum) that combine to support substantial improvements in network throughput. In the test environment, the research team demonstrated the ability of the system-on-chip (SoC) to deliver upstream and downstream throughputs of greater than 4 gigabits per second (Gbps). Future optimization is expected to drive even greater capacity.
Comcast’s vision
Above: Inside Comcast’s CTC in Philadelphia.
Elad Nafshi, the senior vice president of next generation access networks at Comcast Cable, said in an email to GamesBeat that the performance of the Broadcom chip exceeded expectations. He said the SoC was built by Broadcom, and the test was designed and executed by Comcast network engineers in Philadelphia and Denver, with the support of technology partners at Broadcom.
“More broadly speaking, the developments we’re seeing today on 10G are the result of global collaboration between operators, technology makers and standards bodies,” Nafshi said.
Tumblr media
Last October, Comcast technologists were able to deliver 1.25 gig symmetrical speeds over a live, all-digital network by leveraging advances in Distributed Access Architecture, Remote PHY digital nodes, and a cloud-based virtualized cable modem termination system platform (vCMTS).
Even as Comcast works to test and deploy Full Duplex DOCSIS to enable multigigabit upload and download speeds in the future, the company is leveraging the technologies from the October trial, along with DOCSIS 3.1 in the upstream, to increase speed and capacity in the near term. In my area, I can pay for a gigabit downstream connection.
“Comcast has been working to develop the technologies that power 10G since well before it was formally introduced in January 2019,” he said. “(We) played a key role, along with industry partners, in developing the DOCSIS 4.0 Full Duplex standard. The lab test itself was the result of several weeks of construction, preparation and design by Comcast network engineers in Philadelphia and Denver.”
He added, “We don’t have any news to share at this point about new product and service offerings, but we’ve been excited and impressed by the pace of innovation with technologies like distributed access architecture, virtualization and DOCSIS 4.0. We’re very confident that the mix of speeds we make available today are more than fast enough to meet and exceed our customers current needs. We’re continuing to move forward with testing and development of this technology, because we know the future will bring even greater demand, and we want to be ready for whatever comes.”

How to Test Your Internet Speeds
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Testing your internet or WiFi speeds is just a button click away, but before you do there are a few steps to keep in mind to ensure you get the best possible results.
Use a Wired Connection
Sieve tube elements. A wired connection will always provide the fastest speed and best Internet experience. When performing the speed test be sure to connect your computer to your modem using an Ethernet cable:
Connect the Ethernet cable from the back of the modem to the open Ethernet port on your computer.
Connect the power cord from the back of the modem to an electrical outlet.
Check the modem and router lights to confirm they have power, and are connected to the network and your computer.
Tumblr media
Remember that every Ethernet cable has a speed limit. Some cables only support speeds up to 10 Mbps, which is slower than most RCN Internet speed packages. Make sure your Ethernet cable can support the speed you’ve signed up for. If not, you’ll need one that will.
Turn off Unused Connected Devices
Be sure to turn off unused devices including laptops, tablets, phones, gaming systems, or other smart home devices. Multiple devices connected to your home network may result in slower internet and WiFi speeds. This is because devices divide bandwidth like a pie, with each device taking the portion it needs at the time of use resulting in slower speeds.
Speed Test Openreach
Close all Applications and Programs
Smart Speed
Applications or programs running in the background, even when not in use, may be using your internet connection. It is recommended that these programs be closed until after the speed test is completed. Snagit tool windows 10.

Neurocentric Approach to Cranium Complaints and Pelvic Pain in South Surrey, June 13th and 14th 2020. DNM: A manual therapy model for treating persistent pain
This course can be taken as a stand-alone for people interested in focusing their knowledge on treating craniofacial pain and pelvic pain complaints or if they are looking to increase their knowledge in using a DNM lense in their practice.
DNM is a new way of interacting with a patient’s nervous system by gently stretching their skin. It uses a particular kind of light stretch that directly communicates with the brain to dampen the pain experience.
The nervous system makes up around two percent of our body by weight, yet needs over twenty percent of the oxygen and glucose delivered to all of our cells. The hypothesis is that DNM helps these nutrients reach our small nerve tissue, thus reducing our "cranky nerves".
The originator of DNM, Diane Jacobs states:
"DermoNeuroModulation is a structured, interactive approach to manual therapy that considers the nervous system of the patient from skin cell to sense of self. Techniques are slow, light, kind, intelligent, responsive and effective. The positioning of limbs and trunk affects deeper nerve trunks and is combined with skin stretch directed toward cutaneous fields of nerves that branch outward into the skin.
Manual handling of a patient's physicality is only a small part of developing a complete therapeutic context for change–while optional, it can also be optimal. Included are simple ways of explaining the nervous system and pain mechanisms to patients prior to treatment." About the Instructors: Jocelyn Kirton graduated from West Coast College of Massage Therapy in 2013 and is a member of good standing with the College of Massage Therapists of BC and the RMTBC.
Jocelyn has taken an interest in treating patients with persistent pain, specifically in the abdominal and pelvic regions. Her foundation built around neurocentric treatments and Dermoneuromodulation has given her the unique opportunity to modify her knowledge in traditional visceral manipulation therapy to allow for a modern and evidence-based approach to persistent abdominal and pelvic pain.
Jocelyn has taught massage at CDI college, giving her students more confidence in treating patients with pelvic pain as she instructed with the women’s health in-reach the college offered to its patients. Alongside the women’s health in reach, Jocelyn also taught the introduction to sports treatment course and oversaw the sports outreach, bridging classroom comprehension and treating athletic patient populations together.
Michael Reoch is a Registered Massage Therapist from Vancouver, British Columbia. He graduated in 2007 from the 3000-hour massage therapy program at WCCMT. Michael was the chair of a special interest group called PPGPain which is for RMTs who have a special interest in treating persistent pain. He has helped develop Pain education programs for RMTs in BC through the RMTBC and PainBC. Also, Michael taught advanced clinical and academic classes at WCCMT. He has been a board member of the RMTBC for five years helping to advance the massage therapy profession through science-based education. Mike currently runs a private practice in British Columbia and teaches DNM classes regularly worldwide.

Comcast Working Toward 10Gbps To Your Home Using Cable
Comcast has achieved a 10Gbps "technical milestone" that can deliver gigabit-plus download and upload speeds over existing cable wires, not fiber. ZDNet reports: Comcast has achieved a 10Gbps technical milestone by delivering 1.25Gbps upload and download speeds over a live production network using Network Function Virtualization (NFV) combined with the latest Data Over Cable Service Interface Specification (DOCSIS) hardware. This is being done with DOCSIS 4. With this cutting-edge cable internet technology, you can expect to see up to 10Gbps speeds downstream and up to 6Gbps upstream capacity over a hybrid fiber-coaxial (HFC) network. In its first real-world test, to a home in Jacksonville, Fla., technicians achieved its Gigabit plus speed using upon Comcast's Distributed Access Architecture (DAA). This is an edge-based computing model. This architecture has a suite of software-powered networking technologies, including digital fiber optics, "Remote PHY" digital nodes, and a cloud-based, virtualized cable modem termination system platform (vCMTS). The result? Comcast's team consistently measured speeds of 1.25Gbps upload and 1.2Gbps download over the connection. According to a study by Dr. Raul Katz of Telecom Advisory Services, 10Gbps internet will generate at least $330 billion in total economic output and create more than 676,000 new jobs over the next seven years. It will do by enabling not just 8K video streams for everyone living in your home, but by enabling 5G access points, virtual reality applications, and telehealth. It's not just hardware that's making this possible. Comcast is a major open-source developer and user. As Comcast notes, "The trial was made possible not by a single technological innovation, but rather by a series of interrelated technologies that Comcast continues to test and deploy in its network, all powered by a DAA ecosystem. These include our increasingly virtualized, cloud-based network model." Comcast is working on the "10G" initiative along with NCTA, CableLabs, and SCTE, and other telecom and cable operators from around the world. In addition, Comcast and Charter Communications have worked closely to align on their approaches to 10Gbps and are driving technology standards and architectures to benefit everyone.
