Sick Day - headcanon
Summary: You wake up with a fever and Tom takes a day off to make sure you’re ok
Notes: This is my first headcanon. I know it’s not great but PLEASE let me know your thoughts. I really tried my best.
Tumblr media
• You wake up with a headache. Your throat is sore and you can barely speak, just enough to call Tom into your room
• Tom runs into your room and immediately gives you a puppy dog look
• He kneels down by the bed and puts his hand on your forehead.
• “Yep, fever,” he says matter-of-fact.
• He immediately stands up and you reach for him, barely missing his arm as he leaves the room.
• A few seconds later, he waltzes back in with a cup of water and two Tylenol pills and hands them to you.
• You happily take them and scoot over on the bed, opening the sheets so there’s room for him to get under them with you.
• You need soup, or something,” he says as his phone starts to ring.
• He leaves the room and starts talking with someone on the phone.
• “I can’t come in, I have to stay home. It’s important,” you hear him say, a smile creeping across your lips.
• Suddenly you hear footsteps running into your room and Tom excitedly jumps onto your bed next to you.
• “I have today off. I’ll be right here for you.”
• He slides under the covers next to you and puts his hands behind his head, resting back.
• “Can I get you anything?” He starts to trace letters on your arm, mindlessly.
• You ask him for something to eat.
• He immediately gets up and goes to the kitchen.
• Your eyes are fluttering closed as you wait for him to come back.
• After a few minutes, he marches in with a bowl of something and a tray to put on your lap. He also has a cup of green tea that he puts on the night stand.
• “Chicken noodle... it’s your favorite, right?” He gave a worried smile and set the soup down. He helped you sit up and put the tray on your lap then handed you the soup, blowing on it.
• “Don’t burn yourself.”
• He got back into the bed and rested his head on your shoulder as you carefully spooned the soup into your mouth.
• You finish the soup and he cleans everything up and gets back into his original position on the bed.
• You pull the blankets up to cover the two of you.
• You lean down and put your head on his shoulder, tracing his pec. “Would you rather be twenty meters tall or twenty centimeters tall?” You croak, barely able to get it out.
• “Twenty meters,” he responds, running his fingers through your hair. “You?”
• “Centimeters for sure. Get into small places.”
• “Hands for feet or feet for hands?” He asks grabbing the remote and turning on Netflix.
• He flips through Recently Watched as you answer, “Hands for feet...”
• “Like a monkey,” he laughs as he comes down to Friends. “This ok?”
• “Love it,” you answer as your eyes close with your head pressed into Tom.
• You hear the sound of Phoebe trying to shut off a fire alarm as you fade in and out of consciousness.
• Tom’s grip tightens on you and he kisses the top of your head as you fall completely to sleep.

Stranded - Chapter One
words: 1k

notes: Ok guys, like i’ve said, I’m not the most seasoned writer, so I’m still learning. Lemme know what you guys think! Tell your friends!! I have so many ideas for this, so I’m ready for it to continue! Also, lemme know if you wanna be added or taken off the taglist!

“Ladies and gentlemen I've turned on the fasten seat belts sign and asked the flight attendants to be seated, we may be entering an area of turbulence and would like everyone seated for safety" I heard over the intercom. The skies were supposed to be clear so I wasn’t exactly sure where this turbulence was coming from, but I buckled my seat anyway. Better to be safe than sorry.
I reached into the pocket on the seat in front of me and grabbed a random magazine: Sky Mall, the catalogue of obscure and unnecessary items for sale at unmentionably high prices. I flipped through a few pages: an automatic cereal dispenser, a glow-in-the-dark toilet seat cover. Countless items that I will never use a day in my life, still it doesn’t hurt to kill time by browsing.
“Those man spanx look bloody uncomfortable.” An English accent flooded my ears. I looked to the right and for the first time noticed the guy sitting next to me. Slightly curly brown hair draped over his forehead as he was in the midst of flipping through Spotify playlists. He was gawking at the magazine in my hand with a man sitting uncomfortably in a white pair of spanx. “I could never.”
“You’re telling me that you’d rather wear this Siamese… Slanket, than man spanx?” I pointed to an ad for a two-person snuggie. The stranger looked up at me and smiled, his sparkling teeth almost blinding me.
“Let’s just say the spanx seem to be a little tighter in… certain areas.” I looked at him blankly before realizing his joke. I laughed slightly, leaning in. He shook his head and chuckled at my response. Suddenly the plane began to jerk. I grabbed the armrest, but missed and grabbed his hand instead. He laughed again, “Not used to this much turbulence, the weather must be bad.”
“I’m not a huge fan of flying, just seems unnatural to me.” I let go of his hand and took a deep breath. Just a few more hours until we reach Hawaii, shouldn’t be that hard.
“I’m Tom, by the way.”
He reached his right hand out to shake mine. I grabbed it and shook it, responding, “Sam.” I began to put the magazine back in its pocket so I could continue conversation with Tom. “What brings you to Hawaii?”
“Alright, don’t tell anyone Sam, but I’m on a secret mission to stop a high-tech weapons manufacturer from making a deal with terrorists over seas.” I looked at him with my eyebrows furrowed. His jokes never seemed to land. “Holiday, actually. My brothers and parents are on the next flight tomorrow.”
“That’s awesome, I’m actually just visiting a friend who lives out here. I had the week off, so I figured why not.”
The plane suddenly began to rock again. I immediately grabbed both armrests and tensed up. Tom began to chuckle and he pulled his phone out. “Don’t worry, we only have 45 minutes left until we land, think you can last that long?”
I relaxed as the plane began to feel still again. “I’m totally fine.” I sat up to get a better look at the plane. We were in one of those smaller commercial planes, and despite it being summertime it was almost empty. There were probably four other passengers along with the one stewardess. Why, then, was Tom sat immediately to my right, when there were so many open rows he could’ve moved to? I wasn’t complaining, exactly. I liked to the company.
“So Sam, what kind of life are you leaving behind in LA.” Tom asked, scrolling furiously through his songs to pick the best one. Meanwhile, he took out his right headphone and handed it to me. I took it and put it in my ear to hear Ed Sheeran playing quietly.
“Still in college, I go to UCLA for screenwriting, but I don’t know if that’s what I really want to do. It’s so tedious and such a narrow field.”
“Well if you could do anything in the world, what would you want to do, then?” He asked, turning down the volume even more.
“Go to space.” I looked at him with a smile. “I’d love to be an astronaut. I could work on the ISS or anything really. It’d be a dream.”
He smiled at me and his smile got bigger as I continued to bore him with space talk. I tend to ramble about things I’m passionate for, regardless of my company. Yet, Tom just smiled at me, nodding along and urging me to continue.
I stopped myself after I realized how long I’d been talking. He just looked at me and said, “Wow, Sam. That’s genuinely so cool. I hope you can do that someday.”
“So what about you,” I asked, “what do you-“ Although, I was cut off by the sound of the engine roaring, then the sound it stopping completely. The plane suddenly began to take a nosedive down and the oxygen masks fell from the compartments above us. I looked at Tom with fear in my eyes and he reassured me by grabbing my hand.
“There’s no need to panic, folks,” I heard over the plane’s intercom, “we will be making an emergency landing on an unspecified island. Engine failure is common and the airline is aware of our-“ Suddenly the line was cut short and static was all that was heard. The stewardess stood up to shout something at us but suddenly my body was jerked upward and my eyes were shut.
The plane had made impact with the ground and I was jolted immediately back down towards the seat. The seatbelt kept me from slamming into the top of the plane and back down. I looked over at Tom. His forehead was bloody from banging the tray in front of him and his eyes were sealed shut. I quickly unbuckled my seat and leaned toward his mouth. I could faintly hear his breath, thankfully.
I looked around and noticed the other passengers knocked unconscious as well, at least I thought unconscious. The stewardess was lying in a pool of blood near the front of the plane. Her body was disfigured because the sudden impact flew her up to the top of the plane, hitting it’s ceiling. Suddenly I heard a familiar voice. “Sam…” I looked down at Tom to see his eyes fluttering open. “Where are we?”

Stranded - Chapter Two
words: 1.1k
summary: Tom and Sam explore following the crash of the plane
notes: Wow do I have ideas. There’s so many ways I could take this but I think i have an idea of how I want this to continue. Lemme know what you think!!
Tumblr media
I lifted Tom’s chin to see the damage. His forehead was cut open from the tray in front of him and was bleeding. I quickly went through my bag and grabbed my green western bandana. I tightly wrapped it around his head to stop the bleeding.
His eyes were fluttering open slowly. I could finally see his dark brown eyes looking at me like a puppy dog. He had no idea what was going on. I reached down to unbuckle his seatbelt and quickly freed him from the chair. We stood up together and he immediately reached out for leverage, grabbing my shoulder. I held his elbow and kept him standing as I scanned the aisles for any signs of life. Unfortunately, there seemed to be no breath in the cabin besides the two of us. I grabbed both of our bags and looked at Tom.
A bright light was shining from the back end of the cabin and I nodded toward it for Tom to see. He groggily turned his head and nodded, as we both moved out to the back of the plane. I had to support him as he walked. He still seemed a little out of sorts.
We made it to the exit of the plane and looked around. Directly in front of us was endless ocean. It stretched for what seemed to be infinity. I turned around to see what was behind us and it also seemed to be endless. However, this time it was an endless jungle. There were trees that seemed to go on forever.
Tom immediately crashed onto the sand at his feet and sat down. I kneeled next to him and wrapped my arms around him. He grabbed onto my forearms and placed his head on me. He was breathing heavy. “Are you ok?” I asked.
“What happened?” He was hoarse, his voice breaking with every word.
“The plane’s engine failed, I think. All of a sudden we were just falling from the sky.” I sat down to get more comfortable and Tom laid down completely, his head resting on my thigh. I put my hand on his head to comfort him and looked around. The place seemed to be deserted. There was no sign of life. “We should probably find a place to sleep.” I looked at the sky, the sun was nearly down and we wouldn’t have any light in an hour or two. “Are you able to scavenge for a little?”
He looked up at me with his big brown eyes and nodded. “How long are we going to be down here?” He started to sit up. “What do we even do, now? Call for help?”
“My phones shattered from the impact. I dropped it. Does yours work?”
Tom grabbed for his phone and turned it on. The flashing ‘dead battery’ light kept repeating. Tom threw his phone to the sand. “Stupid Spotify,” he muttered.
“So maybe we should start a fire? I think that’s a little more important than a cover to sleep under? I don’t think it’s supposed to rain tonight.” I suggested.
“Who knows what kind of animals are out there? What about villages!? We should explore a little.” Tom stood up in excitement, obviously feeling better. He began to walk past the plane, toward the forest.
“Tom, wait! It’s almost dark out. We should really prepare. I think exploring tomorrow is the best plan.” I started to follow him.
He stopped dead in his tracks and looked me in the eye. His head dropped and he started picking up wood around his feet. “You’re right, Sam. I can start making a fire. There’s gotta be palms around here you can gather for a shelter.”
We got to our own chores. I started looking around the area for palms. There were just a few sitting at the bottom of some trees that I could grab, but not enough. Also, there was no twine to tie the palms to wood for a shelter.
I looked over at Tom. He was gracefully picking up twigs and sticks around and placing them in a pile in the sand. There was a huge open area that he eventually went to, and he started shaping them into a teepee shape. “How are we going to start this?” I asked walking toward him.
He looked up at me a smiled. “Impressed?” His cocky smile fell when the slight wind blowing knocked the sticks over. He started reshaping them and said, “I figured we could use a glass of somesort. I don’t have any, do you?”
I started sifting through my bag that I had on my back and grabbed my glasses case. “You’re gonna have to do this quick, the sun’s almost down.”
“Don’t worry, I’m a professional,” he said grabbing my glasses. He put the glasses near the wood and faced them towards the setting sun. Soon a reflected light was focused on the stack and you could see a slight spark. “Do you have any paper?” He asked.
I rummaged through my bag and started ripping pages from a notebook to hand to Tom. He gratefully took them and placed them in the stack for an easy fire starter. After some time, the fire started burning and it quickly spread to the sticks.
After a few seconds and a few more pieces of paper, the fire was full-fledged and Tom was looking at me with a smirk. He folded his arms across his chest and walked towards me. “Pretty good, huh.”
“How’s your head?” I asked, ignoring him. I placed my finger on the green bandana, daintily. I carefully rubbed my hand through his slightly curly hair, and he shook his head and quickly stepped back.
“It’s, uh, good.” He stuttered.
I ignored his weird reaction, unsure of what it meant. “How are we supposed to put together a shelter without a machete or twine or something?”
“I’m sure there’s something out there we could use.” Tom started to jog towards the edge of the woods to find anything. I sat by the fire, warming my hands. I watched as Tom walked further and further from our camp. A ways to the right was the plane crash. There had to be something in there, I figured. “SAM.” I suddenly heard Tom yell from the distance.
I got up and ran to where the sound came from. Tom was staring at a palm tree with a disbelieving look on his face. I looked at him and then what he was looking at. From the palm tree, a machete was sticking out, carved into the tree. Tom began to whisper, “Someone else has been here.”

Just One Word
chapter one
summary: Pepper’s junior year of high school and all she wants is a shred of attention from football-star Tony.
word count: 1.1k
comments: this is just an exposition ALSO this is SO CHEESY and so stereotypical, but this is my first fanfic so please go easy on me. But i’d LOVE feedback so lemme know! The next chapter is probably going to be in Tony’s mind so we’ll see. Also lemme know if this is even worth continuing!
Tumblr media
Monday morning, the day she dreaded. Pepper woke up on the eve of her 17th birthday which unfortunately doubled as the first day of her junior year. She grabbed her phone on the bedside table and rolled over to the other side of her bed. Illuminating her face, the ‘7:00 am’ blinded her as she pulled the covers off of herself.
She pulled herself out of bed and continued with her normal morning routine. By the time she was dressed and made up, it was 7:50. She sat on her bed scrolling through Instagram, like she normally did for the 10 extra minutes she had every day. She was expecting some sort of post from Tony, knowing that he had probably just gotten finished with his morning gym session. She’d like every post, even though she knew that her like was lost in the thousands of the likes he’d get.
“Pepper, let’s go,” her mom yelled, knocking on her door. Pepper grabbed her bag and shoved her phone in her pocket heading out of her room. The most embarrassing part of being an almost 17-year-old junior in high school was her inability to drive. She constantly nagged her parents to let her get her license, but they insisted on waiting. Even more, she wanted to be picked up for school in Tony’s 1980 De Tomaso Pantera, but she knew she was really reaching.
“Ready for seventeen?” her mom asked as they both got in her mom’s LeSabre.
“I’m, um, ready for my license... and college. Not entirely sure how ready I am for seventeen,” she sighed. She refreshed Instagram. Nothing. “Can I get my license now…?” She wasn’t sure what reasoning she’d need. “...that I’m going to be seventeen?” She didn’t even know what was stopping her from getting it. She was a straight A student and she was involved in every club in school. She was even applying for internships during the school year with Stark Industries. Sure it was a great thing to put on a resume for jobs and college but she also thought that being employed by Tony’s father would maybe give her a shot to get closer to Tony.
“Honey, let me talk to your father.” Pepper sighed at that response. “I know, I know you want your license, but we don’t think you’re ready for it quite yet. But I promise, we will talk about it.”
Pepper didn’t answer. She opened her phone to see what she’s been waiting for all morning. There he was, Tony, posing in front of the mirror, flexing his arms. Total tool move, she knew, but she couldn’t help but smile. She was completely aware, though, of the stereotypical trope. This time, however, Pepper wasn’t a cheerleader. Tony wasn’t going to just fall in love with her, but she at least wanted his attention. Or even a friendship.
The rest of the ride continued in silence, until the top of the high school appeared from the bottom of hill they were at. “I can get out here,” she said, hugging her mom. She opened the door and started her walk up the hill.
As her mom drove away, she heard a familiar voice walking behind her. “Emma, let’s walk. We’re not going to be on time if we keep walking at that speed.” Pepper closed her eyes, and continued to walk faster. She started brushing her long blonde hair compulsively just in case he noticed her from behind.
“Tony, can’t we take our time, spend time with each other?” She could hear Emma, her co--president of Business club skipping around Tony and kissing his cheek. She knew Emma so well, and talked to her almost every day, and she couldn’t help but be jealous of her relationship with Tony. They’d only been dating for a fews months, since summer started, but Pepper wanted just once to be in her shoes.
“Hm, maybe we could take a break. Those trees over there look pretty comfy.” She could hear Tony’s signature smirk. He was smooth, but Pepper didn’t want to hear that from him. She could faintly hear their footsteps fading off in the distance. She didn’t like it. She hated it. She sped up, running to the front door.
She opened the door and ran in to her designated locker. She unlocked and looked at herself in the tiny mirror she had on the door. “Hello Mrs. Stark,” she heard faintly. She slammed the door shut to see Jane standing there smiling. Pepper rolled her eyes, hugging her best friend.
“Jane, oh my god! How was London?” She had never been so relieved to see such a beautifully friendly face. Friends since pre-K, Jane was there for her no matter what. However, this summer she had been in London with an internship, and Pepper genuinely missed her.
“Nothing without you, I worked and missed you. More importantly, how are you? How’s Tony?” She started walking towards homeroom. “No, wait! Are you ready for your birthday? What are we doing?!”
Pepper followed. “Jane, I don’t know. I feel like we should just have a movie night. 13 Going on 30 or 10 Things I Hate About You? I’m not sure I’m in the mood for some kind of party”
“No party?” Jane asked, pouting. “No, I get it. We can have a nice girl’s night. I’ll invite Tony.” She smiled, “or Emma!”
“No, no, no, no! Stop!” Pepper rushed Jane into their homeroom. They scanned the room looking for their names on the desks. “Where are you sitting, I don’t see my name.”
Jane walked around the room to find her name tag. Unfortunately, she was seated in the back corner. Pepper, though, was in the front. “Are you kidding me? How am I supposed to survive this year without you by my side for the year?” Pepper leaned on Jane’s shoulder, putting her arms around her. Jane stroked her hair laughing and letting go of her as Pepper sat down
“Pepper, didn’t you see the name next to you, though? Starts with a T, ends with a Y? Rhymes with Bologna?” Jane sat in a seat named ‘Tony’. Her fist found her chin as she rested her elbow on her knee. “Well Potts, seems like this won’t be that bad a year.”
“It won’t matter,” she responded rolling her eyes. “He’ll say one word to me this whole year.”
Jane looked past Pepper. Her eyes widened as she stood up quickly. Pepper turned around to see what she was looking at. Tony, only Tony, was standing in the doorway looking for his seat. “Right here, Tony,” Jane said extravagantly motioning towards his seat. Then, she grabbed Pepper’s shoulders and left for her own seat, leaving Pepper to be next to Tony, alone.
- i have a few ideas for more chapters but just kind of wanted to write an exposition, let me know your thoughts! there’s probably a million mistakes and it’s probably very confusing i’m sorry i’m learning

Just One Word
chapter two
other parts: chapter one
summary: Tony’s POV on the first day of junior year
words: 1.5k
comments: this is basically exposition part 2. We’re seeing a merge from last chapter through Tony’s head. the exposition is officially OVER and chapter three will pick up on some good stuff! also the moodboard is done by the amazingly talented @fratboievans thank you sm
warnings: just some good old fashioned kissing, nothing too serious and I think there’s like one swear word.
Tumblr media
“So, I missed you last week, how was Brooklyn?” Emma asked smirking as she weaved her fingers through her boyfriend’s fingers.
“I was a taxi drive away, it’s not like I went to Germany.” Tony said raising his eyebrows. Sure she was cute, and genuinely one of the nicest girls he had ever met, but Tony didn’t like the way she depended on his attention and company so much. Not that Tony didn’t love the attention, it was just too much at times.
“Are you going to Germany?” she asked hesitantly.
“Emma, we’re going to school, I’m not going anywhere without you.” Tony wrapped his arm around Emma’s shoulder, reassuring her. She nuzzled her head in his neck and they continued their walk to school.
It went on with a steady silence. They were close to each other, but didn’t say anything. Emma’s mind probably wondering about what they relatively new couple were going to do in the oncoming autumn. Halloween and holiday season was soon, after all. All Tony could think about, though, was football season starting and what his father was going to say about him spending all his time after school on that.
As they kept walking, his thoughts continued to drift. Up ahead he could see a tall blonde girl walking ahead of them. “Who is that?” Tony asked Emma, immediately regretting it because he knew Emma would get jealous.
“Pepper Potts, we’re co-presidents of the Business club. You don’t know who she is? She’s the one who hosts all the pep rallies!”
“I don’t pay attention, I’m always in the locker rooms waiting for them to call the football team,” Tony countered.
“Waiting for her to call the football team,” Emma nudged Tony. He simply rolled his eyes and tightened his grip on her. They continued to walk in silence, which Tony preferred.
“Tony, can’t we take our time, spend time with each other?” Emma begged. Tony glanced at her with a raised eyebrow and Emma smiled. She began playfully skipping around Tony, grabbing his hand. She kissed his cheek and stopped him in his tracks.
“Hm, maybe we could take a break. Those trees over there look pretty comfy.” Tony reached his other hand down and grabbed Emma’s open hand. They took a sharp right and turned into a small alcove of trees.
Tony leaned his back against the tree and put his hands out reaching for Emma. Once he could grasp her, he pulled her hips against his and spread his hands to her back. She leaned in slowly until her lips brushed against his.
At first, they did nothing. He opened his mouth and slowly she put her hands on his shoulders. His hands lowered below her waist and his tongue found her bottom lip. She leaned into him, but then quickly took a step back breaking their contact.
“Tony, that’s too far.” She looked down at the floor, embarrassed.
“Don’t worry about it,” he said grabbing her hand and pulling her back towards the path up to school. “No pressure,” he smiled. He wrapped his hand around her shoulder and they finished their walk to high school in silence.
Tony opened the door for Emma and followed her in. Immediately, they were bombarded by a group of guys in blue and yellow jerseys. Screaming ensued and chants of “Tony” began.
Emma took a step back from Tony, uncomfortable from the lack of personal space. She let the football team do their thing. Watching as they huddled around Tony and wrapped their arms around each other.
“This year is our year!” Tony yelled, exciting the boys surrounding him. The football team was the royal court of high school, and Tony was the king. Tony knew it too. Every girl wanted to be with him and every guy wanted to be him.
“Bruce, see you didn’t do anything over summer,” Tony said slapping the shorter boy’s stomach.
The crowd dissipated and Tony, Bruce, and Emma began their walk to their classes. “Har har, I’ve been playing all summer with my brothers. What have you been doing? Helping your dad fight aliens or some shit?”
“Boy did I miss you,” Tony grinned, wrapping his arm around Bruce’s neck and giving him an affectionate noogie. “We all in homeroom together?” He asked letting go of Bruce and continuing the walk.
Emma and Bruce pulled out their phones to look at their schedules.
“I have Ms. Danvers,” Bruce said sliding his phone back in his pocket.
“Same!” Emma said excitedly, reaching over Tony to give Bruce a high-five. “What about you, Tony?”
“Mr. Lang,” he sighed, “this blows!” Tony said stopping in front of a door marked Scott Lang. “Well, I guess I’ll... see you at lunch?” He leaned forward and gave Emma a quick peck.
“Ew, ew, ew, okay lovebirds you’ll see each other literally in 3 hours, give it a rest,” Bruce said waving his hand. He jokingly wrapped his arm around Emma’s shoulder and started walking her towards their own homeroom a few doors down. “I’ll take care of her, no worries Stark.”
Tony shook his head listening to Emma’s laugh as they disappeared down the hallway. He turned his head to face the door and opened it. Inside were two people: Jane Foster and Pepper Potts. He quietly scanned the room for his seat but to no avail, until he heard Jane say, “Right here, Tony,” as she motioned towards the seat in a theatrical manner.
“Thanks, Jane,” he replied nodding his head in a “bro” sort of way. Jane headed back toward her seat as Tony stepped into his and sat down. He looked to his left. Pepper was seated with perfect posture already writing diligently on what looked to be like homework. “Hi,” he said, bending down to get a look at her face, and ultimately trying to start some conversation.
Pepper jerked her head up. She looked dead in Tony’s eyes for a few seconds before looking at his feet. “Hi, I’m, um, I’m Pepper.”
“I know,” he responded. Her eyes shot back up at Tony’s. The most beautiful shade of blue he had ever seen. Noticing the dark teal around her iris, he smiled. “I’m Tony.”
“Yes, I know, your father owns basically everything in this city.” She laughed as she turned back to her work. He had never heard a laugh that made his teeth show under a smile so quickly.
“You have a point,” he said swiveling his legs under the desk. He pulled out a binder from his perpetually opened backpack saying, “are you working on homework or…?”
“Yeah I’m doing tutor work for Ms. Danvers for calculus and she gave me the work for this week a few days ago, so I thought I’d get a head start so I know what I’m doing.” She not once looked up at Tony and continued scribbling numbers and symbols on her paper.
“Wow, impressive,” Tony laughed. “I might need to ask for your help on some calculus too if it comes down to it.” He leaned back and rested his hands on his head. He glanced over at Pepper hoping for some sort of eye contact.
At those words, though, Pepper immediately looked at Tony with a small half-smile. “Sure, um, abso-,” she stopped herself from sounding too eager. “That’d be okay.”
“Cool,” he said coming back from his resting position. Pepper was... intriguing to Tony. He’d never met a girl who didn’t try and be a part of his life immediately. He didn’t see it as Pepper playing ‘hard to get’, rather she was completely doing her own thing and she was proud of it.
Tony sat there in silence, thinking about this fascinating girl next to him. She seemed so independent yet kind-hearted. He wanted to be a part of her life, in some way, but knew because of Emma he would have trouble.
“So, Pepper,” he began as he opened his binder. Pepper immediately swung around to look at him, though, he saw Jane walking towards the couple. He shuffled his papers and stopped talking, but he was preparing to covertly eavesdrop on the oncoming conversation between Jane and Pepper.
“So tonight, around 7? Stay up till midnight so we can celebrate!” He heard Jane say with a sing-song voice, grabbing Pepper’s hands. Pepper’s attention was completely diverted from Tony’s as he continued to listen.
“Yes, but don’t invite anyone you know I wouldn’t want,” Pepper retaliated.
“So Tony, do you want to come to Pepper’s sleepover tonight? It’s her seventeenth birthday!” Jane leaned down and rested her chin on Pepper’s shoulder. “She’d love it if you could come.
Tony saw Pepper pinch Jane’s arm. “Well, I mean, I wouldn’t want to intrude.”
“No, no,” Jane said, “Pepper would love it, wouldn’t you.”
“Yeah, if you want, Tony.” Pepper said looking Tony dead in the eyes.
“Um, okay. I’ll see if I can swing by after practice tonight.” Tony said nodding.
“Great, there’s going to be a ton of people. Can’t wait!” Jane said hugging Pepper. She looked Tony deep in the eyes and then walked off back at her seat as Mr. Lang walked into the room. Tall, built, and always wearing some sort of T-shirt.
“Can’t wait, Pepper.” Tony said looking back at the front of the class. More people had flooded into the room, yet Tony hadn’t noticed. The clock almost said 8:30, so Tony slid his phone away and got a few pencils out. 11 hours till Pepper’s party.
