“Once upon a time, power was determined by lineage—the age of blood. Then it was determined by money—the age of gold. But I think it’s time for a new age, Victor. The age of power itself.”

make me choose: @arwensundomiels asked → vicious or monsters of verity
if eli really was a hero, and victor meant to stop him, did that make him a villain?
he took a long sip of his drink, tipped his head back against the couch, and decided he could live with that.

Sydney Clarke died on a cool March day. It was just before lunch, and it was all Serena’s fault.

@vicioussource search 2: book cover redesigns
Did you know that when you take away a person’s fear of pain, you take away their fear of death? You make them, in their own eyes, immortal. Which of course they’re not, but what’s the saying? We are all immortal until proven otherwise?

Something about Eli was decidedly wrong. He was like one of those pictures full of small errors, the kind you could only pick out by searching the image from every angle, and even then, a few always slipped by. On the surface, Eli looked perfectly normal, but now and then Victor would catch a crack, a sideways glance, a moment when his roommate’s face and his words, his look and his meaning, would not line up.
Happy holidays @cardales!

lit meme: 「 1/4 」 deaths
→ sydney clarke
now, the problem with march (as opposed to january or february) was that even though it was still quite cold, the depth of the ice was waning, uneven. small patches of warmth during the days caused the frozen lake by their house to begin to melt. you wouldn’t even notice the change, unless it broke beneath you.
