On the Job

You send a message to Delinquent while you're still browsing building plans, a quick little wheels up in half an hour. He'll get the message, of course he will, Delinquent has a fine nose for work and never seems to miss your cues. You missed this, this slow burn of excitement and energy, and while your crew is down one tonight you're sure it's going to be like it used to be.

Half an hour later you're knocking on Delinquent's door, cheerfully smoking a cigarette. You've got your tools stashed on you, ready to leap from your inventory into your waiting hands. You're absolutely ready for anything this jewellery store has to throw at you. You won't lose.

You flick your cigarette butt away while you wait, lean against the door frame and watching the night sky glitter away above you. What a fucking perfect night.
