He or she to be a staunch advocate of wise management

Environmental utilities, educationally non-discriminatory colleges/universities, and other copasetic, democratic, ecologic, holistic, non-partisan opportunistic politically welcome think tanks.

I love Voltage games, especially SLBP. Cooking is one of my greatest passions in life and so I thought it was only fitting that for this contest I should create some of the iconic dishes from the game as well as make up my own desserts using a very old and beautiful technique (wagashi) of designing, coloring, and shaping smooth bean paste. 

 As Saizo is my absolute favorite, the wagashi are spring cherry blossom themed. I hope the feel of a piece of spring earth with scattered blossoms comes through. 

I did a lot of research on the absolute victory bowl’s place in history and put together the ingredients of Kombu, dashi, chestnuts, abalone, and rice, that honestly made a rather yummy dish! This was so much fun but boy was it a ton of work! A lot of steps, as well as the mochi for the daifuku etc, had to be cut to save time.

ANYWAY, it would take me forever to express how much I appreciate the games from Voltage. They’ve inspired me in so many creative outlets such as writing, drawing, cooking and my love for their characters gave me the push I needed to finally start learning Japanese. 

So, thank you voltage! And thank you for this contest!

A single corridor should be completed every time you reach this point. Remember to alternate between sides of the corridors so as not to be totally obliterated by deadly high voltage laser beams. The second you do get totally obliterated by deadly high voltage laser beams, your test is over. The test will begin when the jump button is pressed. On your mark. Get ready! ... Name: Absolute Algae Author: alreadydead "This level reminds me of when I was little, and my parents would only allow me so much time on the screens. Usually I played Lego Star Wars, sometimes I played Mario, or even this obscure game I loved called Bugdom, but I could only do so for an hour a day. I was so enraptured with videogames, as I think many young people are, that one of the games of pretend I would play, in my free time, in the yard or in my room or by the window sill, would be to pretend that I'm playing a videogame. I'd make levels out of random objects I had around, and then hold my Yoshi plush toy and make it jump through hoops, narrating the gameplay and adding my sound effects. This level makes me think that alreadydead did that with moss on a rock, or maybe algae floating on a pond. I can imagine holding a little figurine of a ninja and squinting to make the perspective work, then dragging him around, adding my own explosive sound effects, and generally completely missing the point of going camping. And that's a certain type of joy." - DarkStuff

RE: The Cybird Thing.

tl;dr: I still like Cybird’s games and I think Cybird can turn this around. The issue of producing art for exposure is much bigger than Cybird, and it’s something that we should all reflect on.

Before I get into it, I know this is a divisive issue. Some of you are probably reading this right now and being like, oh my God, what does she want to fight about now? I am not trying to single out anyone or drown out opposing voices. But as a person who has been asked to work for nothing but ‘exposure’ (and many friends who have experienced the same thing), this issue is one that is very close to my heart. I’m going to compare Cybird’s, Okko’s, and Voltage’s contests and explain how and why I think Cybird’s current contest regulations are significantly different from those others.

* Voltage retained the right to modify submissions for the sake of making them work with the avatar clothing system.

Prizes:

Every other contest came with a social media shoutout when the results were announced. I’m not even sure this qualifies as a prize. Cybird doesn’t specifically word it that way.

Public vs private submission:

If Voltage rips off any of the designs from their public contests, someone will notice and say something. If Cybird (or Okko) rips off a submission to their contest… You’re probably out of luck.

These don’t match up. If Cybird doesn’t intend to modify stuff without the original artist’s input, why does this need to be in the T&Cs?

Contest requirements:

Cybird requires at least 3 characters in the design of your choice and specifically forbids textual submissions. When they elaborated on the requirements, they stated that stick figures were also fine and that they were looking for concepts, not polished art. And that, then, begs the question - why not text submissions? Of course, it’s Cybird’s contest, and they can set whatever requirements they want. But if it’s just the concept they’re looking for… Well. (I mean, I feel like ‘cute schoolboys!!!’ describes their example.) Okko had specific formatting and length requirements. Voltage required public submissions using the tags that they specified. 

Submission usage:

Cybird is using the winning submission for physical merchandise (what, specifically, they have not said). Cybird’s physical merch is usually sold at retail stores (e.g. Animate) and conventions, which presumably leads to a significant profit. Okko and Voltage used their winning submissions in-game or online only. There is a significant difference in the scale of usage that these designs will be/have been put to.

RE: Stuff that people have said

“The fanbase breaks the rules, so why can’t Cybird do what they want with this contest?”

Yes, the fanbase breaks the rules with regard to CGs/screenshots, and we should not encourage that. Don’t reblog or like those posts. Don’t interact with those users. Don’t reward them with the notes and attention they want. If Cybird feels that the amount of effort and money required isn’t worth it to go after these people, then they won’t, so we should make an effort on their behalf. That being said, two wrongs don’t make a right. I am very much not fine with people breaking the rules set by Cybird. I make an effort not to interact with those blogs. But I am also not fine with the way this contest is being run. It doesn’t have to be one or the other.

Fan art seems to be a grey area. I’m personally on the fence about it - I need more time to reflect on this issue.

“No prizes have been announced yet.”

The reason why people are objecting to this is because typically, contests and prizes are announced at the same time. It is not unreasonable to assume that there is no prize because there isn’t one stated. There is also no sign of a prize to be announced at some hypothetical later stage.

“The game is free, so you should be grateful for what you get!”

That’s their business model. That is how their business works. We get some free stuff, and we pay for some other stuff, if it looks good/we want to support the company/WE JUST WANT THE THING OKAY. Does our gratitude pay their salaries and bills? No. The juicier content is locked behind pay walls - that, and merchandise, is probably the bulk of where their money comes from. Does this mean that we should be okay with Cybird using fanwork without compensating the artist, whether in actual or in-game currency, when they’re using it for profit? I don’t feel that way at all.

“The staff are really nice!”

Yes, I agree. They are. But I feel that this is somewhat above their pay grade. I rather doubt that the staff who interact with us on a regular basis are authorized to create contests, regulations, and rewards on their own. I am not criticizing the staff. I am criticizing the company. There is a difference.

Now, if you feel that exposure is a sufficient reward for your time and effort, that is fine. For you. But trading exposure for art is a bigger issue than just you and I. It’s a practice that devalues art and insults the artist by implying that their work is not worth money. It is not uncommon for people, especially those who are just starting out on their chosen creative path, to get roped into exactly this. However, by doing so, they are allowing others to continue taking advantage of people in similar circumstances, and that is why I can never encourage someone considering it. This is a practice that people who work in creative industries have been trying to fight for years. Please, if you don’t understand why this is a problem, Google it. Talk to someone you know who works in a creative industry - art, music, wedding photography, whatever. Please understand that this is a problem that makes it difficult for people to support themselves by pursuing their passion. People shouldn’t have to be criticised for speaking up about this. It is bigger than just Cybird.

That said, I don’t think that Cybird is coming from a place of wanting to exploit their fans - but as it stands, I fear that this contest is exactly that. I believe that Cybird is fully capable of receiving criticism in the spirit that it has been shared in. I like this game. I support it. I have spent money on it. I want to be able to keep supporting them without the fear that they engage in a practice that has harmed me and my fellow creatives. I would love to see Cybird acknowledge that this is a problem that they hadn’t considered previously, and turn this around by offering an actual prize for this contest, even if it’s just in-game currency or the merch that the winning artist helped design. I cannot, in good faith, encourage anyone to enter with these current T&Cs, because it perpetuates the cycle of creatives being uncompensated for their work and the undervaluing of art.

ROH Death Before Dishonor 2019 Review, Recap, and * Ratings!

Who left with the world title? Two brutal tag matches, a mystery addition to the TV Title match, and MORE!

Number One Contender Tournament Marty Scurll vs Colt Cabana

- I shouldn't say this was a surprisingly good match, because both of these guys have been in some great matches over the past couple years. I loved Colt Cabana's run earlier this year in the New Japan Cup, winning two surprising matches before falling to SANADA. And I love everything Marty does. The commentary did a good job selling how Colt was making Marty play his game, and Colt was able to keep up with Marty's speed, with some impressive moves broken out. I loved seeing them trade submission finishers, between Marty's Chicken Wing and Colt's reverse boston crab. There wasn't too much question who was going to win, even though I held out hope for a Cabana upset, just for the chance to see a couple more matches from him. However, Marty wasn't going to look too weak, and put him away with a Black Plague after kicking out of Colt's amazing Superman pin.

Marty wins via Black Plague in 14 minutes, ***3/4

Number One Contender Tournament No DQ Match: PCO vs Kenny King

- First, I have to mention how great Jim Johnston's new theme was for PCO. Also, Kenny's entourage was a nice touch, including them setting out all the playthings for the upcoming hardcore match. It started to sell the fact that Kenny had a plan for the No DQ match, to beat PCO at his own game. The hardcore moves and big spots were a little rough, which is par for the course for PCO. Kenny's plan crystalized when he started pouring water on PCO's chest and his valet produced a cattle prod. The finish was incredibly corny, but at least played into all the commentary story about PCO being zapped into existence. Super charged PCO, writhing in high voltage, still chokeslammed Kenny King and held on to the throat, shaking as the ref counted him the victor.

PCO wins via electrocution-aided choke slam in 12 minutes, **1/4

WOH World Title Match Kelly Klein [c] vs Angelina Love

- With all the story and buzz focused on Angelina Love and Allure, it would be a shock (sorry PCO) to see Kelly retain here. The tale of the tape lists Angelina at 6'6" and I briefly wonder if this is a different Angelina Love. But it was a typo, they go face to face and it's obvious she's 5'6".  Angelina wins after a decent, but slowish match, after a couple rounds of botched interference.  Post match, they get ready to rub it in to Kelly Klein, until the lights go up and she's saved by Maria Matic.

Angelina wins via Allure bullshit in 10 minutes, *3/4

Jay Lethal vs Jonathan Gresham

- Gresham's change into more of a tweener, frustrated loser was really welcome at a time when he was starting to be a little bit boring. ROH-lifer (yikes) Jay Lethal is a pretty great foil for him, and I was hoping for this match the second I saw them tagging together.  They don't disappoint in the early goings, with some crisp wrestling and Gresham steadfastly refusing to do the handshake. They manage to make a series of hip tosses into a good sequence that really ups the pace of the match. Gresham eventually goes for a chair on the outside, starting an argument that ends in a furious exchange of strikes. They trade finishers and cradle attempts until Jay hits a pop up cutter into another Figure Four. Gresham escapes and stops another Lethal Injection as they go back and forth.  Jay's final Lethal Injection try doesn't hit because of his arm's weakness, and Gresham pounces, hitting him with some fire and strikes and finally locking in the Octopus and making Jay tap, a hundred percent clean. Great match. Gresham takes the ice packs from the ref as the two slowly get to their feet and face off to have some more words. Lethal slaps Gresham's hand away and gives him a hug as he takes the ice for his cradled arm.

Gresham wins via Octopus in 17 minutes, ****

The Bouncers vs Silas Young and Vinny Marsaglia

- Just going to get a disclaimer out there, I'm really not a fan of the Bouncers' whole thing, much less The Kingdom. Silas is a little entertaining in his thing going with Josh Woods, but otherwise I'm not expecting much. There's a pre-match attack, and Vinny gets his forehead cut early. They break a pool cue on the turnbuckle and get zip ties involved early, calling back to earlier attacks. Milonis ends up getting his own ties used against him as Silas and Vinny take control. Milonis gets busted open  as more weapons come into the fray, including the pool cue's broken edge being jabbed into flesh. Silas holds Bruiser in the corner at one point as Vinny produces some darts that he throws into the man's ample back. Everyone's covered in blood as Milonis takes control with a steel chair, at one point absolutely crushing Silas as he sits in it. Vinny takes control on the outside however, and puts Milonas through a table. Silas takes a hard Spicoli Driver on the apron and Josh Woods leaves commentary to take Silas to the back. Back in the ring, Bruiser superplexes Vinny through a circle of chairs for only 2. Vinny begs for more and is finally put away with the Beer City DDT on the chair wreckage. I could have done with less of this.

Bouncers win via Beer City DDT in 14 minutes, **

ROH Television Title Match Shane Taylor [c] vs Tracy Williams vs Flip Gordon

- The story for this is a little muddled, but it should still be a fun contest. Flip Gordon comes out in a gas mask, looking absolutely ripped. Shane Taylor's entourage is also kind of impressive for the Vegas location. Tracy Williams? Also here. The ring announcer out of nowhere says there's a surprise 4th entrant, and holy shit it's Dragon Lee!

Shane Taylor [c] vs Tracy Williams vs Flip Gordon vs Dragon Lee

- Let's go! Dragon Lee starts trading shots with Shane Taylor in the ring in a terrible idea, while Williams and Gordon brawl outside. There are too many great matches and exchanges to keep up with, lots of it being Flip Gordon and Tracy destroying each other. It's a pretty fun sprint until Shane pins Flip with his finisher. Dragon Lee gets in his face to ask for another shot possibly next time.

Shane Taylor retains via Greetings from 216 in 9 minutes, ***

ROH World Tag Team Titles Match The Briscoes [c] vs Lifeblood

- Haskins and Bandido are out first as they recap how they earned the title shot. Haskins and Bandido keep control of Jay with some hot tags until Mark jumps in to try and break it up. He blind tags in shortly after to hit a nice double team lariat. Bandido flies in to save him. The Briscoes accidentally collide on the outside and Bandido hits a great dive over the corner turnbuckle. The Briscoes take control on the outside and introduce a not-folding-chair used to dive onto Lifeblood. The champs start throwing folding chairs into the ring as the fans chant for more violence. The ref struggles to keep control and clear the ring as the Briscoes also set a table up on the outside. It gets back into the ring however and nobody gets DQ-ed. The Briscoes keep fresh double teams in the ring until Haskins hits a DDT/Flatliner on both men. Haskins locks Mark B in a crossface, and Bandido cuts of Jay to start a double submission that lasts until they barely make the ropes. Lifeblood with a Falcon Arrow and frog splash for only 2. Another hot combination move by Lifeblood only gets two as Haskins dives onto Jay on the outside. The Briscoes keep staying fresh with frequent tags, but Lifeblood keeps in the match with Bandido's high flying and Haskins' fire. After another nearfall, they all face off in the ring and start a wild brawl. In a really nice sequence, Haskins puts Mark in a sharpshooter and Bandido hits the 21 on Jay, but Mark pulls Jay free from the pin crawling away from the submission. Lifeblood hits a superplex plus top rope stomp that is only broken up by a flying Briscoe. Jay takes control and Haskins barely escapes the Jay Driller. After another flurry, he finally hits it, but the lazy cover gets 2. Mark hits a froggy elbow on Bandido and another Jay Driller ends a wild one.

The Briscoes retain via Jay Driller in 20 minutes, ****1/4

ROH World Heavyweight Title Match Matt Taven [c] vs Rush

- The challenger enters in a crisp white suit and cape. The match starts soon after Taven's big Kingdom entrance. The champ throws Rush against the barricade in front of his assembled family and starts talking trash immediately. Rush comes back and spikes a suplex on the very tiny entrance ramp. Taven hits a brutal release suplex from the apron to the ringside area. Before Rush can get back to his feet, Taven hits two straight, different dives to keep the challenger down. Back in the ring, his onslaught continues with a frog splash for 2. Taven keeps control staying ahead of Rush's moves until everything breaks down to the outside. The challenger takes apart the barricade and sends fans scattering and hits a suplex on the outside. Then he throws an entire piece of barricade off Taven's head. That's one way to change it up. The ref doesn't really seem to mind as Rush chokes Taven out with a camera cable either. Rush suplexes him on a strong announcers table, then puts a foot on his chest to pose. The ref finally reels them into the ring, and Rush keeps taking it to Taven in the corner with strikes and a Bull Horns tease and finally a tranquilo pose while Taven gathers himself. It's some pretty great character work from both guys. Rush stops an attempt at the champ's Climax and hits a split leg Jay Driller. Rush takes a little too long getting Taven up and then Climax is finally hit, but just 2. After both men slowly get up, they trade strikes until Taven explodes out of the corner to stop Bull's Horns with a spear. Taven keeps Rush down with a series of running kicks, but the challenger reverses Climax and shoves Taven into the top of the turnbuckle. The champ's bleeding from the mouth, and takes a Tree of Woe  Bull's Horns. Rush fires up and hits one final Bull's Horns to become champ. Great match and finish.

Rush wins the ROH World Title via Bull's Horns in 16 minutes, ***1/2

Following the Chinese news and their political and technological progress, raises huge questions about our future. To imagine the world of 2100 in not the easiest, it’s even impossible at the pace of technological development and current politics.

However, asking ourselves what could become of our world in 2100 is an interesting fiction to try to imagine. One thing is for sure, China’s “long-term” politic facing the Western “short term” politic will be the most important weak point of Western politics. Chinese patience and national patriotism are formidable. China with technologies, lives more and more instantly, but on strategic points, she has patience in gold and uses time and wear to get to her own ends. Chinese leaders place a priority and absolute pride for China to become the global technological power and can erase centuries of humiliation!

China appears to be more and more encroaching on European soil and  is being particularly attentive to countries who are contesting the power of Brussels.

To reach this goal, China will rely on several strategic projects and traverse to become a technological superpower!  In 2019, China is already a technological superpower in being the best in the world for the following projects:

Silk roads, representing a $1000 billion project and aims to improve trade between Europe and Asia

Quantum cryptography, China has made the first transmission to the world of an encrypted message by quantum technology via a satellite

The Chinese National Company ‘State Grid’ installs 1100 kV power lines in continuous current to interconnect Chinese and European power grids and resell electricity to Europeans about 3 times cheaper! Currently, a line from East to West of 1100 kV of continuous voltage connects over 3000 km, the towns of Changji (Xinjiang) and Xuancheng (Anhui), passing through Gansu, Ningxia, Shaanxi and Henan.

The program "Mille Talents" aims to attract talents living abroad in order to repatriate researchers living outside China!

The famous strategy “Divide to rule” could very well be the Chinese regime Strategy!

Some European countries have used their veto rights in favor of China for certain European decisions! Could a certain submissiveness to the Chinese totalitarian regime of some European countries be taking place?

The control of technology is the only way to retain a certain influential power and to continue the worldwide spread of our western democratic values, facing the technological ultra-power under a totalitarian regime!

We have to remember, after the take-over of the Port of Piraeus in 2016 by the Chinese ship owner Cosco, Athens vetoed, in June 2017, a European Union resolution to the UN condemning the human rights abuses in that country, a first. Also, in 2015, Athens, Budapest, Zagreb and Dubrovnik we have been forced to avoid a direct reference to Pekin in a statement of the European Union on a court decision to invalidate its legal claims on the South China Sea. Just recently Australia has been seduced by China's technology of mass control of the population.  

China’s Big Brother Social Control Goes to Australia

Josh Sattler from the Australian authorities has said that the processes used were not intrusive.  In the Australian city of Darwin, the pressure was put on for the programs of the Chinese Communist Party to be implemented.  In 2018, local officials reached a « friendship » agreement with the district of Yuexiu, in Guangzhou, China. The development of the ‘Chinese Big Brother’ is clearly a global wish of China. All these projects are done on “a long-term” and with Asian cultural patience which is fearsome!  In the long term the world is busy in «Asianizing» itself. A recent opinion poll from IFOP shows that numerous Europeans would be prepared to accept the totalitarian regime facing the different global challenges of the 21st century!  

Climate issues are often used as an example where some remain convinced that it will take totalitarian measure to save the planet and change the habits of humans! Some collapsologists and some politicians do not hesitate to announce a collapse of our world which, according to them, could only be avoided with totalitarian measures. How would people not be tempted to switch over and to agree to a technological superpower such as China if our Western politics fail to demonstrate their effectiveness in solving global challenges? 

Africa, new targets of the Chinese regime, is currently busy accepting their technologies. Us, Europeans, are we going to manage to resist? The Chinese totalitarian regime is highly criticized by the West as well as many Far East countries, however, it has demonstrated its effectiveness in evolving a very poor country in a minimum amount of time!  

In his annual national speech, XI does not forget to remind his people, with accurate figures to strengthen the political choices of the communist party and in a way congratulates the country!  Since the 1978 reform of Deng Xiaoping, 700 million Chinese have come out of poverty.  According to The World Bank and China Statistical Yearbook 2005 and GPF calculation, 90% of the Chinese population lived with less than 1.9 USD per day in 1980, in 2010 this figure was reduced to less than 10%, thus a decrease of 80% in 30 years. 

In the absence of technological power and with an economic and social decline which yellow jacket would say no to such evolution prospects? If the European technological stagnation continues to increase and by the patience and the policy of the Chinese «long term» we could gradually see elements used by the Chinese totalitarian regime creeping into our democratic countries.

Australia is the first example in the world to remind us that we must remain cautious. When we watch the documentary, if it is not anti-Chinese propaganda, «The world according to Xi Jinping » shown on ARTE, it is rather chilling against our Western cultural approaches. Xi believes that China must save and preserve the world!  in this documentary he considers himself to be the savior of the world and some thinking heads of the Chinese Communist Party are convinced that to restore a global geopolitical stability, humanity will have to go through a totalitarian regime to solve the global vital issues before being able to find a democratic regime again!

Martin Lee Chu-Ming, an anti-communist personality who helped found the United Democratic Party of Hong Kong in 1990, who has closely rubbed shoulders with the Chinese Communist Party and who did not always have excellent relations with the party, is convinced that democracy will one day return in China.  Will it come after a global takeover under a totalitarian high-tech regime? 

If we do not want to endure a totalitarian regime in 2100 we must absolutely retain some European technological leadership to balance the global geopolitical scale.  The control of technology is the only way to maintain a certain influence and to continue to spread our Western democratic values in the world against a technological super power under a totalitarian regime!

Dating the REAL bidders (Headcanon KBTBB)

Fandom: Kissed by the baddest bidders Characters: Eisuke, Soryu, Mamoru, Baba, Ota Summary: Idea from here, how I imagine the real bidders are behind our screens. Just for fun, my own fantasy NOTES: I wrote this to cheer myself up, little scenes that play in my head, gotta say I’m surprised that I kind of like Eisuke, only the good sides though, nothing like the one in game.

Prologue: Eiuske isn’t thrilled about you making him an ass from the series “Switching Places” and asks you go on a date with him to get to know the real him, eventually ending up with you going on a date with each bidder.

Ota

You expect Eisuke would be your first date since he’s the one who’s started this whole “getting to know the REAL Eisuke thing” but instead you’re sitting awkwardly at a beach side cafe with a familiar annoying face, “What are you doing here Ota?”

He smirks with his brows frown, “On a date, obviously.”

“Why is Soryu here too?”

“Aren’t you just plain stupid, we are out on a date.” The blonde is clearly enjoying this while the mobster in grey just sits and reads his detective novel quietly.

“Then why am I here?”

Playing with his air, Ota answers in amusement. “This is getting to know us.” You roll your eyes and pour more syrup into your ice tea, “I don’t need to watch to know that you are a brat, Ota.”

“Awww, is someone jealous that I am the one who’s dating Soryu Oh?”

Grrrrr, “Fuck you.”

“Oh you wish, no wait you wish it’s someone else, isn’t it?” He whispers and winks to his left.

“Oh my god, Ota, seriously, get over yourself already. I don’t even know what Soryu sees in you.” You sigh and gulp half of your drinks.

“Well you will never get it.”

“No, most of the readers don’t get it either. You are bitter, he’s thoughtful; You are mean, he’s kind-hearted; You are sadistic and you never stop talking!” The more differences you list the more you fail to understand, is this what they call love will keep us all blind or is it just lust?

“Pff, Soryu is submissive.” Ota sticks his tongue out as Soryu looks up with his redden cheeks (awww he’s so cuteeee) before he quickly returns to his book. “He gets me and I get him, we click, that’s all that matters.” The blonde says with a soften expression when he steals a glance at the mobster, and there it is- a true moment of love in his eyes. He is serious about Soryu, much more than anyone’d ever imagined.

Sure they are an odd pair that probably no one would root for or understand but they don’t need anyone’s approvals, they just need each other.

Mamoru

Mamoru is smoking with his legs crossed and arms stretch to the sides on the bench, he looks neither nervous or excited. “Waiting for someone?” He let’s out a yarwn and gets up, “You look nice.” He mutters and walks off, “Where are we going?”

To your surprise, he has taken you to an amusement park for a date. This looks like a text book date from Voltage, “Hurry up, kid.” He calls without looking back, hmm this does sound like the Mamoru from season 1 before he’s gotten to know the MC.

He isn’t much of a talker which is weird because he talks a lot more when you are all gathered so you try all sort of topics but only earn you the short answers. “Mamo, do you not want to go on a date? You seem awfully quiet.” He hesitates and stops walking, “Hey wanna try that?” It’s a shooting contest and before you’d answer, he’s already in line. Aiming and shooting is only natural to a detective like him, he’s won a second prize and it’s an ukulele.

“This is handy.” The lazy detective seems happy with his rewards, “You know how to play?” He answers by playing a familiar melody, a classic folk song. His face is coated in the orange rays of sun set and you find your heart pounding at the sight, his gazes meet with yours as his fingers leave the string. “What a lovely day, huh.” He suddenly says, “Umm sorry I didn’t say much today. I..I’m kind of nervous.” His apology surprise you as you see no clue at all, he just seems cool and little strange. “I… I have always liked you.. from the first time we met.”

Wait???!!! What???!! Mamoru Kishi, your favorite character from Kissed By The Baddest Bidders is confessing to you?! Taking a step closer, Mamoru kisses ever so gently on your forehead. “I don’t want you to take it the wrong way. I wasn’t bored or anything, I just didn’t know what to say.” He smiles sheepishly, “What do the guys usually say after this? Or is it your turn to respond?”

You can’t help but giggle at his adorable form, he’s so cute you want to jump and embrace him but instead you suggest the two of you to go for dinner where he can be less nervous and back to himself so you can get to know the real him.

Baba

“Camera rolling and …… action!” You look dumbfounded then Baba walks through the door on set with only black boxer briefs, he’s toned and smoking hot! Your mouth drop wide open as he walks towards the actress on bed, lifting her chin up and kisses her seductively. The director shouts cut then the crew moves some lights and start filming again, the woman gets down on her knees with Baba’s cock right in front.

OH MY GOD

The director slowly instructs their exact movements, the actress carefully moves her hands to his thighs while his grips her hair. Baba then pulls his boxer off and almost slaps her with his manhood, why are you here! What is this? Oh no, you have a plenty good idea what this is but questions flood through your head. Should you be mad? Embarrassed or impressed at his size? Minutes or hours later, you can’t really tell, Baba stands in front of you with his casual wear and smiles as happy as ever, “Hello princess.”

“BABA!! What the hell!!!!!!”

Making a shock face follow by a naughty grin, “What? This is the real me!” You gulp and lower your voice, “A PORN STAR?”

“Yeah, a good one too don’t you think?” He winks. “Baba, you aren’t exactly the most popular guy in the game. I am not sure this will do any good.”

He shows his arm and signal you to hook around it then he casually leaves the set, “I don’t care about popularity. I am who I am, Kara. And I am fucking proud of that.”

Proud of being a porn star? The question almost leave your lips but you listen, this is about him not your assumption. It isn’t his dream to be one, life leads him to an opportunity and he takes it as it pays well, the cast, the people he meets turn out to be much less hypercritical and cynical so he sticks around.

“It doesn’t bother you that you aren’t that popular?” You have to ask, a grin plays at the corner of his lips, “I accepted Voltage’s offer for fun, I did porn for fun. Life is too short and I don’t want a boring one. Plus quality over quantity, love.”

You look at the satisfying man in hat, carefree, straight forward, optimistic and they are the reasons why Mitsunari Baba is so charming, a man who is true to himself.

Eisuke

You take one last look at your phone and walk to the end of corridor, there’s no point in checking which apartment since you are on the top floor of a penthouse apartment. How fitting of Eisuke Ichinomiya.

“Hi, come on in,” Eisuke greets you casually with a smile, he smiles?! But before you can look to double check he has rushed back to the kitchen, “Make yourself at home, hey do you want something to drink?” He pops his head out and asks, “No,no I’m good.” You walk around his spacious apartment to find no helper or bulter of any sort, just you and the billionaire.

“Umm, do you need help?” You rise your voice.

“Nope.” He smiles, again he is really smiling!!! “All done.” Putting two plates of lobsters with salads and pasta, your eyes widen. “You cook all this by yourself?!”

“Pff, I can cook, I can drive, I do a lot of things myself like any regular citizens.” He stands behind you and pull a chair out, such gentleman like feels a bit out of place but you are more amazed than freaked, you never would have thought it’s possible to feel comfortable with Eisuke’s presence. “This place is huge!” He pours some white wine into your glass and offers a private tour later, “Oh my god!!!”

He chuckles at your reaction, “I’m that good, right?” Confident, sassy, funny and he can cook! This can’t be true, there is no way Eisuke Ichinomiya would fit your type. The night continues rather perfectly, the two of you talking about yourself, your interest, his hobby, the latest movie you like, his favorite book and who’d known that both of you like Bruno Mars.

After showing you around his place, you freshen up in the bathroom and you even wish you have picked a better outfit. When you step inside, you are surprised to hear Eisuke playing the piano and singing.

Oh, her eyes, her eyes make the stars look like they’re not shiningHer hair, her hair falls perfectly without her trying.

You lean by the couch and quietly listen, feeling the rising warmth on your cheeks, it must be the wine. Eisuke smiles at you (again!) and motions you to sit beside him.

You bite your lips, gazing into his sides and trace down to his lips which seem so soft, so alluring, so kissable. Shaking your head lightly, you look up to meet his eyes, has he always had these captivating eyes?

You only realize the music has stopped when his hand touches yours, “I’ve had a lot of fun tonight.” He murmurs, “Yeah, me too. I…I think the readers will love this side of you.”

There’s no respond to his question as any sign of yes indicate a loss to you, averting your gaze, you excuse yourself as it’s getting late. He insists on driving you home but you decline politely, you walk out the door and turn to say goodbye.

“Goodnight,” he says, leaning in for a quick peek on your still redden cheek, “I really like you, Kara.” That’s all he says before you stand dumbfounded and shocked with his door shut in front of your face.

Finalists announced for NREL’s American-Made Solar Prize competition to spur manufacturing advances

A group of 10 teams have been selected as finalists in Round 1 of the American-Made Solar Prize, a $3 million competition aimed at revitalizing U.S. solar manufacturing, administered by the U.S. Department of Energy’s National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL).

Each of the finalist teams will be awarded $100,000 from the second phase of the competition, called the Set! Contest. These competitors are now eligible to continue to the final phase of the competition, the Go! Contest, for an additional $500,000 in cash prizes awarded to up to two winning teams. The range of innovations represented by the competitors include cell and device-related concepts as well as module and application hardware.

The finalists in the Set! Contest are:

BREK Electronics Corp. is developing transformative, silicon-carbide-based composite architectures for string inverters.

Catalyst is accelerating rooftop solar by offering a cost-effective plug-in “solar appliance” that simplifies rooftop solar installation and expedites project payback.

Crystal Sonic is using a novel wafering technology to dramatically reduce substrate cost and improve reuse for gallium arsenide-based solar cells.

Imagen is introducing an efficient, compact, next-generation multi-port Power Electronics Systems for revolutionizing the future of PV solar and EV applications.

Omnisole is developing a revolutionary ballasted racking system that greatly reduces installation time, with no roof penetrations, and can be used on steep roofs.

Phase3 Photovoltaics is designing a novel power integration system that enables PV systems to be integrated on manufactured homes during the manufacturing process.

Solar Guardian is creating a low-cost device that prevents electrical fires in photovoltaic modules, enabling safer and lower cost solar system installations.

Tandem PV is creating an innovative photovoltaics tandem solar cell prototype using a combination of high-efficiency perovskite material plus silicon in a tandem solar cell.

Finalists were chosen by a panel of expert judges at a national demonstration day event at Greentown Labs in Boston from 20 teams, a subset of the original pool of more than 150 submissions in Round 1. They took steps to develop a novel idea or provided a solution that addresses a critical need for the solar industry and substantially advanced their technology solutions toward a viable and promising proof of concept.

“The progress made by our finalists is very promising,” said Debbie Brodt-Giles, prize administrator for NREL. “We’ve seen them test the viability of their ideas and make quick progress with the help of our industry partners and members of the American-Made Network. The best part of this competition is the partnership between the Network and teams, watching them quickly overcome hurdles and accelerate progress toward their prototyping and market-ready potential.”

The demonstration day event included live pitches and a question-answer session with the judging panel. It provided an opportunity for industry members to hear directly from competitors about their innovations and for teams to network and collaborate in Greentown’s 58,000 sq ft of prototyping and coworking space.

“Greentown Labs was proud to host the American Made Solar Prize Set! Demo Day and we were so impressed by the semifinalist presentations. Congratulations to all 20 semifinalists for making it this far and to the ten finalists as they move on to the final contest,” said Dr. Emily Reichert, CEO of Greentown Labs. “We look forward to continuing our partnership with NREL and the Department of Energy to support solar innovation!”

In addition to cash prizes from the Department of Energy’s Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy, winners of the Set! and Go! Contests will receive as much as $75,000 in vouchers that may be redeemed at national laboratories and qualified fabrication facilities to further develop their ideas.

Submissions to the Go! Contest in Round 1 are due September 4, 2019. Up to two final winners will be selected after another demo day and pitch session at Solar Power International in Salt Lake City in September. The judges will examine how well the competitors have advanced their solution from proof of concept to a refined prototype. They also must have found a partner to perform a pilot test of their prototype solution.

I totally agree with this. I can understand why people being reluctant because I also feel off about the rules. Well just say my entries will get chosen as the winner and your concept design will be announced and displayed on Cybird social medias, at least people will recognized that they are using my concept(s) and people still could acknowledge your works. If I win. But what if I don’t? What about the other contestants that didn’t have the chance to win? Cybird could easily use our concepts and claimed it as their own concepts when it actually not coming from their own works because they were doing closed submissions, which is we won’t ever know who was the real owner of the concept. Concept is the main essence when you want to create something, you can’t your work done when you have no idea of what are you going to make it.

I don’t know about the other contest but when Voltage doing the contest for Kenshin and Shingen goddess of war, I personally think that 5 pearls still didn’t enough as a prize. The winners still needed to spin on the lottery just like everyone else even if Voltage was using their concept design. Voltage could give the winners all of the items of the lottery for free imho. It wouldn’t hurt for them since probably hundreds (or even thousands) people will throw their money to cover up the items they gave to the winners anyway. But hey, at least they still showed some appreciation for the winners and still let us to see another entries because they doing the submission openly so we will aware that they are might be inspired of our works.

I’m not even an professional artist, I just doing fanarts because drawing is all I could do and I did it for fun. But I know it’s not about the fans doing fanarts to show how they loved the characters and show appreciation to the game in this case. In my opinion, it’s already a professional business because Cybird is going to monetize the result of the contest by making it as the merchandise and gain certain profits here. If I was a fan (who didn’t even bother about the contest) and I was going to buy the merch from this contest, I won’t even bother to think who was making the concept of the merch design because all I would say was “Oh, Cybird release a new merch! I really love the theme, it’s really cute!” then threw my money to buy my favorites characters. And even if they were going to purely use our design, I would still acknowledge it as Cybird works not the winner. Again, they are not going to fully use our design but only use our concepts. Yes, Cybird give us a free game for us to have fun while we kill our time but for the Nobunaga’s love for konpeito, we all know that the game itself is not 100% free. We still needed to buy items with real money. Even if we didn’t use money, we still needed to clear any missions or requirements to get the items we wanted. We pay it with our efforts to fulfil the missions or the requirements. There was nothing free when we played the game. It also goes to every companies that provided free games that we had been played for all this time, not only for Cybird.

I’m saying this not to advise people not to join the contest. Nobody forced you to follow my own decision. I believe Cybird didn’t have any bad intentions when they held this contest. I think they are really appreciate all the fans works so they held the contest. If you still think that this is just as same as when you’re doing your regular fanarts and still want to join the contest, then join the contest. You already know the consequences. It’s all up to you.

RE: The Cybird Thing.

tl;dr: I still like Cybird’s games and I think Cybird can turn this around. The issue of producing art for exposure is much bigger than Cybird, and it’s something that we should all reflect on.

Before I get into it, I know this is a divisive issue. Some of you are probably reading this right now and being like, oh my God, what does she want to fight about now? I am not trying to single out anyone or drown out opposing voices. But as a person who has been asked to work for nothing but ‘exposure’ (and many friends who have experienced the same thing), this issue is one that is very close to my heart. I’m going to compare Cybird’s, Okko’s, and Voltage’s contests and explain how and why I think Cybird’s current contest regulations are significantly different from those others.
