Mechanically I don't know much yet about the field boss in the new tileset that takes on your appearance, but boy do I know my own emotional reaction and the reaction of my OCs

North deals with it a bit easier - they're better at muting their emotions in a crisis than Higgins is, and they're familiar with Wally's tricks. It's a shock and it's by no means easy, but they can keep fighting through it to take down the monster wearing Higgins' skin

(It helps that they've sparred with him before and never as much as made a scratch. It helps that this Thing doesn't show distress as they land blow after blow, doesn't even bleed, doesn't know how to fight convincingly like Higgins)

But then

The monster sheds the first disguise, and

It's North

And Higgins does not cope well with it

Sure, he's heard of Wally's mimicry but never experienced it firsthand, and his emotional response is visceral. He can't see it as a monster to fight when it's wearing North's skin. His Drifter. His fragile human partner, because yes, void-cursed immortality be damned, to Higgins they're still fragile, and Higgins had to learn the hard way to be so good at yanking them back in through transference when they put themself in too much danger, especially with how much more bold they've been becoming since they started returning to Duviri

It's not often that Higgins fully relinquishes control on their shared body, and extremely rare for it to happen during combat. They're a team, they work best that way, they're damn good at it

But this time Higgins is in no state to fight, no willingness to when it's against a facsimile of North, and so the real North has to soothe him, pry his grasp from the outside world, lock him safely in his own body for the time being so that he won't see and won't try to stop it as North deals with this

It's not easy or fun for them either. But their own borrowed face is easier to fight against than Higgins' was. At least they can cover Higgins' eyes as they do so
