Elaborating here that this is background for my Rook, Valkyrie Ingellvar, who... Surprise... was a spirit this whole time TM

Rook is supposed to be a necromancer but she also is a rogue so I kinda just play her as both in game. Also she gets with Emmrich, of course, because he's a sweet heart obviously.

Then Elgar'nan shows up and he's so out of it from blight and stuff that he doesn't exactly understand why he's hesitating from destroying Rook at literally every opportunity he has.

But Rook being a manifested spirit of Will actually for that Emmrook "there's something quite indomitable about you" and Elgar'nan just bashing at an immovable force basically that is Rook... xD Many have tried. None have succeeded, at least not like that.

Rook and Elgar'nan ultimately figure it out. Still working that part out for Rook, but he is sorta possessing her while he recovers and then it clicks. Like before he even starts to think he can pull some anything he realizes "oh shit... It's her..." And then it's all wholesome again TM because I'm a sucker for happy endings.

And Emmrich I'm not sure what to do with him yet. He seems like a monogamous kinda fellow, but not possessive. Imagine either he's like spirits will be spirits (because it's not se*ual obviously for any of them)... Or he's like "yea let's just be friends Rook." :V

So this is Halevune an Evanuris OC

She is the Goddess of Stealth and Reflection Her Symbol is Satina (Thedas's second and often hidden moon) and a White Fox

I've been cooking up some background for my Rook (won't post too much about her here) but involved was a "reincarnation" of her spirit (yes, I mean spirit, not Soul :3c... ) - which I identified as "Will." I am not yet sure on what Halevune warps into but this ref is kinda WIP anyway

Also yes, the symbol being similar to Lusacan, the Dragon, is very much on purpose but no, she is not Lusacan. No I will not elaborate further (yet.)

I'm definitely coloring this later and but still wanted to share as is. Halevune is Elgar'nan's soulmate - which is important to the canon of this character for future Rook reasons... And also Elgar'nan warping from Protection to Tyranny. :3c

It's all wholesome. At least until Dread Wolfy and Meddling Mythal kinda shenanigans happen. But its very important that it's not because of jealousy... At least not on Halevune's/Mythal's part.

She gets power from the Sun and the Big Moon through reflections. Depending on which she is reflecting will determine what power she uses.

Halevune is pronounced "Hahl-eh-voon-aye" and translates to Moon Fox (I used project elven for this - so this is not really canon complient). I actually named her this as a joke but then I loved how it sounded... And I loved the idea that her nickname is literally just "Hale" (hahl-eh) which sounds so much like Halla so whenever Ghilan'nain says something about Halla, Hale will look over like "you talking about me Ghil??" ... "no, silly."

I can't get my stupid Lich!Rook headcanon out of my head.

Whenever Rook does anything there are groans of "Ingellvar!" followed by varying forms of dramatic agony from the other Lich Lords (Emmrich included)

Whenever there are new Mourn Watchers, Rook puts on their glamour to join on their initiation and make it even more scary (while still maintaining Lich secrecy)

Takes Emmrich out to the gardens regularly. Even when they move to another part of the Necropolis and is unreachable, they tend to it.

Probably does Watcher duties for a while, like lighting candles, until they are told to stop. "Let the watchers do their duties. You have other things to attend to..."

100% does the Spooky Scary Skeleton dance and tries to teach the other Liches how to do it. (They don't join in. Volkarin might, though)

Makes Johanna into a floating flaming skull (Why not? Keeps her under "watch" and she's showing good behavior by then I'm sure. Lowkey to annoy the older Liches.)

Keeps teaching Manfred new tricks (she raised him several years later as her main test for Lichdom as her thing is with spirits and the Fade, proving she can protect the Fade as much as she can protect the world) and much to the chagrin of the lead Lich, has given Manfred a Lich Crown so he can be like mum and dad. "Come on, who can say 'no' to that face?"

She might be accused of not taking her position as a protector of the Necropolis seriously, but then she gets to point out that the spirits like her and they wouldn't if they knew she couldn't get the job done. Besides, she has proof she can save the world and goof off at the same time already.

I'm just playing through Inner Demons just picturing Rose (Rook) holding Spite by the hand as she leads him through the doors to get to Lucanis.

She's very normal about her spirit friends...

Just thinking that this short little elf becoming a lich in the future and being called the "littlest lich" made me cackle...

Obviously she has a long way to go before she gets there... But she 100% revives Manfred on the sly. Since it was Emmrich's test of if he can accept that death may happen while he outlived people, and Rose (my Rook) would inevitably have to face a different kind of test because she finds death fascinating... Her reviving Manfred might even be the test 🤔

Watcher Ingellvar

Full Name: Rosalina "Rose"/"Rook" Ingellvar

Age: 24-27 (exact age is unknown)

Description

Petite, thin elven woman with purple hair, bright green eyes and pale skin. She paints herself in bright colors.

Personality

Kind, compassionate, and optimistic. Loves bright colors/pastels. Uncomfortable in large crowds. Very much prefers the company of spirits and the fade over the living and the waking world. Does not understand why people are upset over death/dying. Her demeanor is very spirit-like and has left many fellow necromancers to wonder if she is one or just has been around spirits so much that she just seems that way.

Also flirty with nearly everyone unintentionally. She likes complimenting people and making them smile/making their day. It's never anything raunchy, just a comment about how pretty someone's hair is, stuff like that.

Background

Abandoned in the crypts in the Necropolis when she was just a baby, no one knows where she came from or exactly how old she was. She was able to walk and able to say one or two words, so she had to at least be one—three years old at most. The spirits were quite agitated by something and raised a fuss, animating frenzied undead, and making it difficult for the Mourn Watch to retrieve her, almost as if they were initially trying to protect her.

Given the name "Rosalina Ingellvar" by the necromancer who found her. For the first year, Rose seemed very disinterested in any toys and detached from peers her age—showing preference, instead, for the company of spirits, wisps, and the silent dead over the living.

It was a pleasant surprise when she manifested the ability to do magic. She started her studies to become a necromancer—her primary goal to join the Mourn Watch.

It was thought for a while that Rose would manifest the rare ability called "corpse whispering," but while she could easily summon and request spirits to inhabit a corpse and speak, she did not possess the psychic ability to read what the spirit didn't/couldn't convey directly. This doesn't seem to bother her.

She has a long-time spirit friend "Protection" (that she nicknamed "Tec") that hangs around her, and may have been one of the spirits from when she was a baby.

Because she grew up in Nevarra, specifically the Grand Necropolis, Rose had no idea the kind of prejudice elves faced. Even when she started traveling with Varric and Harding (after she took down Baron Van Markham) Rose still had zero idea. It wasn't until after meeting Bellara that she learned about it...

Hides from the team that she is a necromancer (only Harding and Varric knows) until Bellara invites the Watchers Vorgoth and Myrna to talk about potentially recruiting Professor Volkarin. Rose did not think that the team would accept a necromancer.

Relationships

Bellara 🤝

Rose gets along well with Bellara. She's like a big sister to Rose and has taught her a lot about Elven culture, both ancient and modern. Also Book Club! Rose 100% participates in Book Club.

Davrin / Assan 👍

Davrin's alright. His carvings are fascinating and Assan is nice. Rose doesn't feel one way or another about Davrin other than that. He teaches her some thing's (not restricted stuff) about the Grey Wardens, about griffins, stuff of that nature.

Emmrich / Manfred 🩷

Professor Volkarin was a fellow Mourn Watcher that Rose knew of but did not get the chance to study under. She would have if she had manifested corpse whispering. Enjoys talking and mentoring under the Professor, furthering her own study of necromancy. Learns about Lichdom and aspires to follow in the Professor's footsteps (on his recommendation.)

Manfred delights Rose immensely. A spirit of Curiosity animating a skeleton! Rose likes to play games with him. Seems to get along with Tec, too.

Harding 🤝

Harding was there from the beginning. Rose and Harding are good friends and get along well. When Harding manifested her stone magic, Rose was very supportive and excited for her friend. When Neve and Rose weren't getting along, Harding pushed Rose to talk to Neve.

Lucanis / Spite 🤝

Because Rose was hiding she was a Mourn Watch Necromancer, she pretended to not hear Spite. She very much could hear him. After Emmrich is accepted onto the team, Rose reveals such (as she is also reunited with Tec at the time as well) and poor Lucanis didn't get a quiet moment for weeks.

Neve 🤝

Neve was a little sore after the fate of Minrathous. Rose and her had to have a solid heart-to-heart over it before Neve stopped making passive-aggressive comments toward Rose. Actually, if it weren't for Harding, Rose probably wouldn't have even tried talking to Neve. But the group all got over this together. Book Club forever!

Taash 🤝

Initially Taash thought Rose was cool with the paint and purple hair and stuff, but once Rose revealed she was also a necromancer, Taash immediately started keeping Rose at an arms length. It wasn't until they reached an understanding with Emmrich that they started to look around the "creepy."
