watson, michigan

in the basement of the watson city parks and recreation building is a small room with molding wallpaper, cigarette scented and coffee stained carpet, two desks, two chairs, and two rotary telephones. on the bottom of the watson city parks department webpage (wcpd.gov) there is a small blurb:
have questions, comments, or complaints? feel free to get in touch!!
below this is a phone number. any time that the number is called, it rings the phones in the small room in the basement of the watson city parks department.

mr watson has worked this job for what he states is "as long as (he) can remember" in reality, this has only been ten years. to mr watson, anything more than ten years ago starts to feel like a blur he hardly feels like mr watson now, and he certainly wasnt really mr watson ten years ago mr watson doesn't really like to use his first name at work. if he had a choice, hed only ever be called mr watson. sometimes he wishes to use this name to order his coffee, but , if mr watson dislikes his first name, he hates when people ask questions.

//Enjoying strong feels for the Cousin!verse again so... headcanon time! (under the cut). Please note--this verse takes place in the 1970s/1980s to better align with the timeline of SWAT and Adam-12. The cousins:
Detective Sargent/Inspector Gavin Troy--Causton Constabulary
Officer James 'Jim' Reed--LAPD
Officer James 'Jim' Reed--LAPD
All of them are cousins on their mothers' side--the Chestertons. Joanna married Wilder Reed, and raised her children outside of Los Angeles. Nora married Gabriel Street, and raised her son in White Rock, California in the town she grew up in. Celia married Owen Troy, and raised her son in Causton, England.
Reed is the oldest, being five years older then Street and Troy. Street and Troy are only a few months apart.
Reed and Street met fairly often at holiday gatherings and family parties since they both grew up in California. Troy only met his American cousins once or twice in his childhood, when they came to England. He never went to California until he was an adult, as Celia claimed she never wanted to go back. Troy suspects she didn't want to expend the effort to travel.
Despite that, Street and Troy were pen-pals growing up, and became very close friends through the letters. They bonded over being the same age, and being only children. Troy told Street many things he didn't discuss with anyone else, such as his parents divorce and his dad's death.
Troy's a dual citizen--British and American. Celia set that up when he was a baby, just in case she ever wanted to run back to her parents. Though it presents some difficulties, such as having to register for American Selective Service and pay taxes to two governments, Troy maintains his status since he figures it could be useful for his career.
Street is the only one who went to Vietnam--he was drafted. Reed already had a wife and son by 1969, so he was not eligible to be drafted. Troy's number didn't come up, so he skated through it--but Street was pretty much his only friend, He was so upset about it, that he considered going to America, and signing up anyways. Ultimately, Street talked him into staying in England.
Generally Reed and Street are referred to by their surnames, though when Troy's speaking about them to a third party he will refer to them as "The Jims".
Reed is generally the nicest of the three of them--he's basically a golden retriever in a uniform, and it takes a LOT to make him angry. Troy's the grumpiest, and he has the weakest social skills of the trio as he's good at insulting people, and making enemies.
Reed and Troy are quick to confirm that Street is the most dangerous of the trio, even if he doesn't look like it. He's a combat veteran, and then became a SWAT officer.
#Muse: Officer Jim Street#Muse: Officer Jim Reed#Muse: Gavin Troy#cousin!Verse#yes I know Street doesn't TECHNIALLY work for the LAPD#(Swat Chopper One and Charlie's Angels are technically in the same universe where they all work for WCPD--a fictional department)

Btw I'm enabling you to go on a tangent about the lake au guys to a degree if you want bc I KNOW it'll take. A bit for all their refs to be done and nobody's asked about them yet so GHSGH /VLH
UHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH UHM. (THINKING OF WHO TO TALK ABOUT)
I'LL GO WITH GENERAL FACTS ABOUT MANDELA AS A WHOLE. (did I already do this? I don't remember.)
-Mandela is a majority woods and swamplands. super humid.
-There is a single local restaurant and a bakery, and those are your options for food here unless you make your own.
-Speaking of local businesses, there are two motels! one that looks pretty nice, with a cool (albeit flickering) neon sign, and another one that looks more run down. Up to you to choose which one to stay in.
-Dave runs the most major store in town, being where most people get tech, supplies, and things from outside Mandela. the only thing he doesn't sell is food, which is the job of some other businesses.
-the Heathcliff farm is actually one of the main sources of wheat and corn and whatnot. There are other farms that specialize in other things, but the Heathcliff farm is one of the big ones.
-The MCPD does not exist. rather the only police departments nearby are the WCPD (werksha county police department) and the BCPD (Bythorne county police department).
#asks are neat#tmc lake mandela au#hard to come up with topics to talk about off the top of my head- /LH

Email Sent to Staff of WCPD
Hey team,
A public notice will be going out to White Crest and all of its citizens. It’s been determined that the eyeballs that have been found in the street and that are going through our plumbing systems are human remains. All the eyes that have been DNA tested so far have been linked to different Missing Persons cases.
What does this mean for us? For all of our officers on patrol, you will be provided with extra supplies to collect any of the eyes you may come across and these will need to be delivered to the morgue in a timely manner.
We will need a few extra people on the front desk, likely some interns, to help process the increased volume of evidence being brought in by the citizens of our town.
I’ll be putting together a dedicated team of officers to go through CODIS and match any DNA results gathered with any open or cold cases. New cases will be opened with these results as well. So far, it’s appearing these eyes are coming from all over the world and our objective is finding out who is bringing them to White Crest and why.
Dr. Kavanagh will be working with our local hospitals to get them performing DNA testing on the eyeballs as well. We’ll have a constant stream of results coming into us.
This being said, overtime will be open indefinitely. Please report back with any findings to Dr. Kavanagh or myself. In these unprecedented times, it’s our duty to ensure the safety and well being of the citizens we’re committed to serving. We will be working tirelessly as a team until we get to the bottom of this and provide the families of any missing persons with the closure they deserve.
Thank you all for your continued dedication to the people of White Crest.
Regards,
Sergeant Roland Hills

There’s no need to do this yourself when there are plenty of reputable funeral homes in town to choose from. It’s good to support local businesses.
