SO MANY PEOPLE GUESSED CORRECTLY!#It wasn't that hard #We know Papyrus knows the river person #are they friends? idk BUT I PERSONALLY THINK THEY ARE #I just LOVEEE looking at the dialogue and making connections #I referenced one of the lines from the river person here...sometimes they'll ask you if you know any game you can play with a dog...#They said they were “asking for a friend...”#And I couldn't help but think about Papyrus' problem with the annoying dog LMAO #+ Papyrus seems very excited to know if the river person is there when you call him nearby that area #Okay so... now ...some comic thing that I made up but also didn't...#“FLOWEY DOESN'T KNOW WHO THE RIVER PERSON IS?”#okay so...#I feel like #It's not very common for them to be there...#When talking with Undyne around that area it's kind of *unclear* if she knows about the river person being there....#She tells you about the river connecting different areas and that you should “jump in”#She then clarifies that's the only thing they got for public transport #AND LIKE? It's unclear if she's telling you to jump in the boat (OR IF SHE KNOWS THERE'S SOMEONE WITH A BOAT) or is she's literally telling #you to jump in the river?????#Anyways...so...that's that #HEHE Flowey and Papyrus finally arrived at the house! WOHOO #Sans is too lazy to bring his old stuff to the surface! the fact that irving canonically survives through the end of asunder to be at wynne's funeral is so fucking funny to me. nothing but love and respect for MY unstoppable cockroach morally grey machiavellian mage dad!!! he's survived in his position through multiple attempted rites of annulment and blood mage plots popping up left right and center around him. the chantry keeps trying to stamp him out but his dodge game is simply out of this world, divine. civil wars, political machinations and minefields, chantry atrocities, this wily old motherfucker is dodging and weaving his way through it all, not-quite-no-hits-taken-running-it-but-honestly-close-enough-under-the-circumstances style. if solas does succeed in tearing down the veil I would fully believe that one of the like three people still alive at the end of it all would be a very weary 90 year old first enchanter irving going 'oh this shit again huh'. the maker has cursed him for his hubris and his paperwork is never finished (affectionate, it's fine he canonically loves paperwork)

#we should have had the option to leave him in the fade instead of hawke or a warden #he would've just annoyedly shuffled his way back out of there a week later #dragon age #dragon age origins #first enchanter irving #he must be SO annoying to the chantry because it's heavily implied he's made his playground #out of tirelessly finding technicalities and loopholes to exploit that they can't *quite* call him on without domino effects going off #I think first enchanter in the circle system at origins times is a position that invariably and inevitably leaves you morally compromised #but I feel he really does his best within the rules he's given to play with and personally i love him a bit for that. and also #for being an unkillable lil shit. insufferable. inconquerable in his 'I'm about to be such an annoyance to you' impish spirit.#the I'm going to suffer but guess what. so are you of it all. traumatize the chantry back #I just imagine sophia sending letters home right before the vote for independence like '...dad I am hearing some INSANE rumours out here #what the actual fuck is going on back home???'#and he's like 'nothing that you need to worry about sweetie just keep living your best life and have fun killing darkspawn <3'#(there's something that makes me feel So much about how consistently his stance is like... MANNN so. sooo. all this talk about pilot fear got me thinking about pilot Joyyyy...we should talk about her too because good Lord, she is…such a piece of work. i NEED to throw rocks at her <3 it's really fascinating how early concepts of joy just, like...straight up made her mean? spoiled? abrasive? not a control freak, not a toxic optimist, not a well-intentioned extremist looking out for riley...just...a whiny brat! she instantly complains about anything she doesn't get immediate gratification from, and doesn't want riley to grow up because it means she can't have fun anymore. which makes sense i suppose, given a lot of the earlier drafts for inside out were about joy's immaturity rather than her being controlling...

if you factor pilot fear into all of this, too, i feel like he'd have muuuch more reason to actually, you know. turn Evil and try to kill joy. pilot joy always gave off villain protagonist vibes to me…she's awful, but mostly unaware how much the others resent her—fear in particular. she's too full of herself to really grasp that.

much of the vague draft i've written in my head about this revolves around fear's betrayal ultimately shattering joy's worldview…i do still think the joy-sadness angle in the final movie was probably the best choice to go with (especially since there weren't any complications of dealing with the aftermath of AHEM. ATTEMPTED MURDER), but daaamnn if i don't think the pilot stuff is Neat!!

alsooo if you're unfamiliar with pilot joy i highly recommend checking out this storyboard, which illustrates her personality pretty well. i actually stole a few lines directly from this storyboard, which is…certainly saying something about this version of joy, lmao. there's definitely more stuff out there, but this is probably the best example. anyways. please throw rocks at her with me <3
