✧ soft secret kisses being shared, longing touches and love affirmations being whispered into each others ears. sanji was floating on cloud9 every time he was near y/n, no other person could amount to her. not even a Goddess could compare to her beauty and light. she was everything to him, his universe.

sanji relished in her presence every time he was near her, his heart drumming to every kiss she left on his lips and ‘i love yous’. she was his own personal paradise. she hung the stars for him and he worshiped her for it.

although, in love and happy.. they never stated in their relationship to others, were they both single? were they long time friends? ex lovers perhaps? sanji being a flirt again? people had only guessed and assumed they both spoken for by other people. today, was very different that from that spotlight cause well,

"my love, you have to keep your eyes closed!" sanji laughed as he tried his best to guide to this ‘gift’ he kept talking about for weeks. "oh cmon handsome! can’t i just take a little peak?" y/n.. trying to use her charms against him was to no avail, sanji wasn’t going to give up and continued to lead her to his gift. "i wanna see your reaction so no peaks!"

y/n's palms were sweating, when questioned? she could only blame it on the summers heat. she was nervous, nervous about what sanji could possibly gift her. were they running away from the culinary life? the overbearing thoughts had consumed her in the worst ways possible until,

"okay, we’re here." he whispered in her ear, sending a shiver down her back. she almost didn’t want the blindfold off soon as the bright lights were hard to adjust to. "why.." now she was left speechless, a little hidden spot on a island, sanji had decorated the nature around them with beautiful colorful lanterns, bouquets filled with many sweets of her favorite candies and flowers. petals laid on the ground, kissed by more roses after roses.

"sanji.. what is this?" it was unusual for him to be this quiet.

turning to find him down on knee with a small box in his one palm while the other still held hers. "my y/n, we’ve hip to hip since the moment we were both stuck on that rock with zeff. we stuck with each other as we discovered the same passion for food, owing our own restaurant together and many more.. but i want something more than that. no, i need more. i want you and i.. to be happy and healthy forever."

tears flooded against y/n's eyes, "i know it’s just a ring but it’ll symbolize something in the future, anything you want! i just.. i.." now sanji was close to tears himself. "y/n.. will you be my wife?" without a word, the girl before him tackled him to the ground crying her heart out. "of course i will sanji!" they both laid there, crying and kissing each other. "oh! i thought you’ll never ask!" y/n giggled, (she knew) throughout the night they celebrated their engagement, celebrating to spending eternity together.

— 💡 : what was your first dr and what is currently your main dr? How and why have you made this switch?

oh. my. gosh. my first dr. okay so, i found out about shifting in 2021-ish. i watched two tiktoks on it, ran downstairs to my sister’s room, got her to come to mine, and explained it (horribly obviously, it was 2021 shiftok). we made our paper scripts, chugged some water, lay down in starfish positions, and got to it. i remember telling her “wake me up in ten minutes and i’ll tell you if it works”(i’ve come a long way, haven’t i?). anyways, i surprisingly wasn’t shifting to a common dr like hogwarts or something. i made up my own reality. i remember my script looking something like:

name: amethyst (why amethyst? good question. i don’t know either.)

age: 16

birthday: august 21st (or some day in august. my cr birthday is in march. why did i change it to august? i wish i knew.)

anyways, the dr had no rhyme or reason to it, i was just excited to leave here (valid).

my current main dr is my 1960s fame dr. i love the 60s. the music was great, the fashion was super cute, and the beatles were in their prime. i’m shifting there for two main things: fame, and paul mccartney. i think it’s clear why i switched where i’m shifting to.

okay so, my house in my 60s fame dr is adorable!!! it’s yellow and cozy and perfect. my favourite aspect of my house is my flower garden! i have all sorts of flowers growing in my garden. i love to show it off to people when they come over. i also love the interior. i love that all the wooden doors in my house are brown (i have a mother in this reality who paints everything white💔).

there’s not really anything special about my fashion in my 60s fame dr. i put on a dress, some gogo boots, and maybe a pair of sunglasses if it’s sunny, and i’m out the door. it’s my hair that makes my outfits. my hair is long. i’m five feet, seven inches (170cm) tall and my hair goes down almost to my knees. it’s thick, too.

i have so many niche drs omg. my most niche dr is probably my modern family x superstore crossover dr. i would say my the outsiders dr, but i think being a crossover makes modern family x superstore nicher (if that’s even a word).

i’m shifting here for so many reasons:

• i wanna work at cloud9!

• i am the #1 simosa shipper (besides sandra) and need to see their slow burn irl

• someone needs to humble cam and i want it to be me

• being a teen in the 2010s!

• i love crossover drs and i thought these shows would be perfect together (i just had to change the timeline and setting)

I'm glad Amy and Jonah got their happy ending but dude 😭

She did him so dirty

He was there for the birth of her child, helped her raise that child, lived with her, offered to move to California with her and she still decided she didn't wanna marry him 😭 GIRL WHAT MORE COULD YOU WANT

I just feel like she toyed with his emotions a lot, like she kissed him and THEN told him she was pregnant

Before he even knew her name he put glow in the dark stars all over the ceiling just to make her happy

Throughout season 6 you can just really tell he's on edge, he's pissed off and for a good reason too

I'm happy everyone eventually got their happy ending tho, I'm sad that we didn't get to see what Garrett went on to do after Cloud9 closed down BUT I'm glad the writers at least gave us an answer to that (working at a GameStop)

I love that Glenn got to reopen his dad's store with Mateo and Cheyenne working with him, I felt so bad for him seeing his dad's store get bought out by Cloud9 but I'm so happy he got to bring it back

Dina being the manager of the fulfillment center really suits her, I remember watching the episode where she was trying to figure out what she wanted to do after Cloud9 but she could never figure out what she wanted to do

It's so funny how Dina and Garrett started out as just fuck buddies but then actually got into a relationship, they both deserve that happiness together

I loved watching Glenn and Dina's friendship grow over the series, girl fucking hated him but then they eventually became managers together

Amy and Jonah really made something of themselves, they both got great careers, are raising Parker together and then omg they had a child together 😭 HE'S A DILF

Elias turning out to be the guy putting severed feet everywhere isn't surprising but it is really funny

The side characters were so great too

Justine was annoying but she's really funny, I also love Sayid

Brett never said anything but he's great I love hin

Sandra starting out as this poor, sad woman who nobody liked and then getting married, adopting a child and then becoming assistant manager of the fulfillment center 😭 you go girl, not to mention the drama between her and Carol

Superstore doesn't have very many moments that make me cry, but when they do they make me BAWL

Like Amy and Jonah's break up and Mateo being taken away by ICE 😭 the scene where they're all watching their job interviews from years ago definitely made me cry the most

Marcus was so funny I love him, bro lowkey had a crush on Jonah too that's gay as hell and I'm here for it

I love Mateo and Cheyenne's friendship, a teen girl and her gay best friend what more could you want

Amy being a mother figure to Cheyenne is so wholesome, sometimes she could be too overbearing but tbh it's somewhat understandable cuz she didn't want Cheyenne to go through the same things she did omg 😭

I've seen a lot of people hate Mateo but honestly I liked him, he was kinda a bitch at times but he was still really funny and I'm happy for him that he found someone and got a good job

Garrett is one of my favorites, he's sarcastic and he says the funniest shit, I loved him and Jonah's friendship together

I love Glenn, he's religious but he's not a bigot. He's the dad that tries and I love that about him. It fills my heart with joy knowing that he framed that picture of him, his foster kids and Jonah 😭 he has so many dad moments

I do not really care for Amy at all honestly, sometimes I would like her and sometimes I would hate her, it just depends on the episode

Dina was great, she was a great contrast to Glenn

Jonah is my favorite and I love him

He's just a sad little meow meow

He's so awkward, that man is autistic and you can't tell me otherwise

He fucks up sometimes but he tries to make it up to whoever whenever he does

He tries so hard and I love that about him, he doesn't know when he needs to stop talking like bro just keeps on going and it's so cute

Spending your birthday at a club on the other side of the city wasn’t ideal but your friends insisted. Sighing to yourself for the 30th time as you watch your finger twirl around your cup, you looked up and allowed your eyes to roam around the place for the first time.

You spot your friends having the time of their lives on the dance floor causing a small chuckle to fall out before your curious eyes darted to the door. A group of boys walked in but the tall pale caught your attention the most.

He must’ve felt your eyes on him cause he made direct eye contact with you and you looked away quickly. His eyes, where have you seen them before? For some odd reason it reminded you of a person you once knew.

You stood up and spotted him once again, his brown eyes already watching you. Your eyes darted towards the dance floor and then back at him praying he got the message, otherwise you just embarrassed yourself.

Making your way towards the floor, in the corner of your eyes you see him speaking to his friends before walking over to you.

You offered a smile which he returned and you took noticed of his fangs peaking out. “May I have the pleasure of a dance?” he asked and you felt like you were on cloud9.

The way he carried himself and spoke was so attractive to you. He touched your lower back as you took his hand into yours, his touch felt shockingly familiar.

“I swore I’d seen you before..” you spoke with furrowed eyebrows as your eyes scanned his face.

He hummed, “I was just thinking the same thing, pretty. Have we met before?” and you gave him a shrug with a small squeal as he twirled you around.

He had his hands on your waist and pulled you closer. He noticed your small pin that read “it’s my birthday” and gave you a big smile.

“It’s your birthday? Why are you spending it in a place like this?”

You nodded your head towards your friends who payed no mind to you, “it was their idea to come here to celebrate and to be honest.. i wasn’t having fun til you showed up.”

You shared a glance with him and it’s like something switched inside of him. “Let’s get out of here, yea?”

As soon as you agreed, he grabbed your hand and dragged you outside. The stars twinkled in the sky while you two ran in the streets. The streetlights were dimly lit up, the night being filled with giggles and sweet nothings that would be whispered between you two.

“You’re such a dork!” you managed out after calming down. He gave you a lopsided grin before taking out his polaroid camera and you watched him curiously.

“Just continue standing there please..” he whispered and you complied. It felt so unreal to you, spending the quiet night and getting photographed by a handsome stranger while you still don’t know his name.

When he was done, you saw him admire the photos he took of you. He was so confiscated by your beauty that he almost missed you walking away.

He hurriedly grabbed your hand and you turned to look at him with an eyebrow raised. “Where are you going?” he asked as his brows scrunched together.

“I have to get going, my friends—”

“Stay?” he pleaded out.

The look he was giving you made you feel something new. How could you possibly ignore his wish when he looked like that. “What’s your name?” you finally asked and he gave you that pretty smile you grew to adore.

“It’s Sunghoon.”

Oh how it was definitely going to be a night to remember.

I love your smau so much and I would love if you continued within that universe (Yk like making different storylines parallel to cloud9 but like for different members).That way we would still get ynhee as side characters but also be able to have new stuff AND still have the amazing dynamic within the group. This is obviously just a suggestion and a thought I had,I think it would be really cool.But as always ;it’s your work so don’t feel pressured to do anything.

Hanfu in Components: Body Elements (pt6)

navigation: hanfu in components 1 2 3.1 3.2 4 5 6 ...

ngl I don't really know how to title this one so I just called it body elements, which is kind of clunky but the best I can come up with right now. This is gonna be on the shorter side; I want to go over some of the more unique features you might find on the main body (身/shen1) of a hanfu top. Many of them are very specific to a certain dynasty or time period.

腰襴/yao1 lan2/Waist 'Lan'

A 'lan' on a top or robe refers to a rectangular piece of fabric attached to the bottom of a garment to extend its length. They can be of the same fabric as the rest of the garment, or a contrasting color. You can identify them by a horizontal seam running across the waist-ish area of an upper body garment—that’s the seam line where the lan connects to the shen. The action or quality of having a lan connected to the main body is called 接襴/jie1 lan2/attached lan.

Lan typically appear in pretty specific places: one, on a 襦/ru2 top/tunic; and two, on a 襴衫/lan2 shan1/Lanshan robe. Ru tops are generally found in Wei/Jin styles (they exist in other time periods, it’s just that the way modern hanfu popularity developed led to them being sort of relegated/most commonly seen in Wei/Jin). Most are true cross-collar tops; some have a curved collar (less common). Lanshan robes mostly appear in Tang Dynasty menswear and onward; they are usually round-collared robes and the lan tends to be more trapezoidal in shape.

!注 Terminology Caveat: Majority hanfu enthusiasts agree to define 襦 as a top shorter than knee length that has a 襴, but there is some disagreement over this because 1) the meaning of the word 襦 changed over different time periods in history, and 2) the 2010’s hanfu movement, which was largely still interwoven with guzhuang and also heavily motivated by factories trying to jump on the trend for quick cash grabs, referred to any top as a ru. I personally only use the word ru when referring to a short top with a lan, but there are arguments to be made for either side, so I’ll leave that up to you—as long as we’re all capable of communicating our ideas, there’s not necessarily a right or wrong here.

Tops extended with lan typically do not have 衩/cha4, or vents/slits, at the sides. Instead, to allow more hip movement, some lan may have inverted box pleats (工字褶/gong1 zi4 zhe23) at the sides and/or center. In these cases the shape of the lan is still a long rectangle, it’s just a little longer to compensate for the extra fabric that gets folded in on itself during the pleat. Given the way that hanfu is constructed you can see how it might be difficult to add a pleat in the garment’s side without a lan—you’d have to have at least side seam in the way. Adding a lan allows you to pleat continuous fabric, and because it’s a narrow rectangle you can cut the whole thing from one piece of fabric with no connecting seams.

The other place that you’d see a lan is on a 襴衫/lan2 shan1. The name is slightly misleading, because we like think of shan as ‘shirts,’ but it really just means a garment that covers the upper body, so it includes robes as well. Lanshan are usually a type of long round-collared robe, popular among scholars and literati. The Tang, Song and Ming Dynasties all have their own versions of the lanshan (one of the Song versions and the Ming version look very similar), but the Tang and Song versions have a lan extension piece attached approximately at the knee level (afaik the Ming dynasty version just kept the name from the Song dynasty). As a result lanshan tend to be closer to ankle or floor length as opposed to knee or calf length like some other round collar robes. In most cases the lan might be closer to trapezoidal than rectangular, to account for the flaring of the robe's body shape.

衽/ren4/Lapel

The ren is the part of the 身/shen1/body in 大襟/da4 jin1/Great Lapel garments that bridges each front piece’s gap between the center front seam and the other side of the garment. It typically takes the form of a triangle or a trapezoid, though it might vary a bit based on the collar variety.

Depending on time period, it's possible that one or both sides of the garment incorporates the ren directly into the body without a separate front seam. Ming Dynasty tops specifically have ren on the outer flap, but the inner flap ends at the center front seam—that's why when you put it on you can't make the knot right at the base of the ribbon, you have to let the inside part hang down loosely. (This is 100% the most common mistake I see with people wearing Ming Dynasty tops—it doesn't not fit you you're just not putting it on right!!!)

擺/bai3/Side Flaps

暮春间 from 执月, Ming Dynasty mens' 圓領袍/yuan2 ling3 pao2/round-collared robe with 平擺/ping2 bai3/flat bai highlighted in green.

Kind of at a loss for how to translate this into English. Not to be confused with the bai of skirts or the 下擺 aka hemline, the bai I'm referring to here is a feature specific to Ming Dynasty menswear—I've had a client refer to them as 'hip wing,' which I think is pretty cute. They're essentially extra pieces that extend out from the side of some Ming Dynasty mens' robes.

There are a couple different kinds of bai, that have to do with their shapes and placement. Most are 外擺/wai4 bai3/outer bai, meaning that they can be seen from the outside. The top may be flat (平/ping2) or pointed (尖/jian1) in shape. The pointier ones will often extend up to the elbow or further; generally when they're worn they go behind the arms and point backwards. You'll most often find outer bai on more formal garments like 搭護/搭护/da1 hu4, 直身/zhi2 shen1, 野撒/ye3 sa4 and 圓領袍/圆领袍/yuan2 ling3 pao2.

When worn, the bai is usually folded backwards under the sleeves, so they're not actually super visible especially if the sleeves are wide. They're more visible from the back/side and when sitting down.

云意 from 执月, Ming Dynasty 道袍 Tao robe. Purposely chose a version with sheer fabric so you can see the inner rectangular bai showing through the main body.

內擺/nei4 bai3/inner bai fold inwards instead of outwards, so they're not visible from the outside, but they still have essentially the same construction, just in a different direction. Cross-collar robes with inner bai are called 道袍/dao4 pao2/Tao robes. Cross-collar robes with outer bai are called 直身/zhi2 shen1/Zhishen robes.

Utility-wise, bai allow long robes to have very high side slits (for mobility) while obscuring what you're wearing inside of them when you walk around. They're also just kind of a fashion statement though. A lot of Ming Dynasty fashion liked looking Wide and Steady like an equilateral polygon or something.

1. for context — I have a superstore/cbs ghosts dr where I worked at the cloud9 but when the store closed I died for a few minutes and could see ghosts! then started working at the woodstone manor as an assistant

3. I go to a private school in one of my dr and that school is far from my school here, but the second I think about that school drying my school, that school gets mentioned one way or another—daydreaming during class? we were actually watching a ppt made by that school. just walking through the halls thinking about my dr? a literal totebag with the schools logo on it. thinking about graduating? the classmates brings up the graduation of that school. and the coincidences are endless...
