It’s a beautiful thing seeing some of our Aquatherm Prefab from our Fulton, MS shop getting hung in the mechanical room. Using natural breaks in the system, there are only two field welds to tie the condenser water piping in before it leaves the mechanical room. It only took the contractor three days to hang the pipe, shaving four weeks off the schedule by utilizing our prefab services. ✅ . . THE PRINCIPLE OF HEAT FUSION: Heating two surfaces to a designated temperature, and then fuse them together by application of force. This process develops pressure, causing flow of the melted materials, which causes mixing and fusion. When the thermoplastic pipe is heated, the molecular structure is transformed from a crystalline state into an amorphous condition. When fusion pressure is applied, the molecules from each pipe end mix. . Here craftsmen are learning about butt fusion on the @mcelroy_manufacturing #acrobat160 During the training course, each participant of the training completes multiple socket fusion welds, several outlet fusion welds and as many butt welds as they wish until they are comfortable with the process, so that they ultimately have a successful installation experience. . A few pictures from the shop floor this past week. The team fabricated 24 total 50’ long 8” (200mm) SDR 17.6 headers with 4” (125mm) outlets, with four of them having custom 30 degree offsets. We built a makeshift jig to install the outlets since we had so many, to improve consistency. We adapted our jig to the McElroy SmartFab and leveraged the mechanical advantage to install the outlets. In the Alpha 630 machine, we have a 16” (400mm) contraption taking shape and in the Alpha 400 machine, we have a 14” (355mm) spool with 12” (315mm) branch connections. These machines are work horses! I can’t say that I enjoyed the -20 degree temperature, but seeing this mechanical room come together with Aquatherm Pipe was beauty in the making! The majority of the room was 20” (500mm) and 16” (400mm) SDR 17.6 Blue Pipe. There are some 8” (200mm) outlets on the 16” as well as some 12” (315mm) and 10” (250mm) branch connections.
