He Would Not Fucking Say That: the author's failure to understand that lacking self-confidence is not actually universal edition.

(This is about characters revealing any kind of "true form" from just horns and a tail to a full-on monstrous body and ALWAYS asking the at this point staple "Are you not disgusted by this..?")

#sometimes this is not necessary #in most of the stories i read this one question has no reason to be present because The Character wasn't hiding their form out of SHAME #why are we always treating it like it's out of shame or fear of rejection?#sometimes it's out of convenience. sometimes it's deception. why is the disgust comment ALWAYS there?#and always in a surprised tone too?#it happens no matter the character no matter their reason for hiding no matter their personality #it breaks the flow of the story so hard #and immediately lands the fic square into the ooc hole #what a shame that it became enough of a staple to overwrite characterization #7:30am rant cause i was reading some smut and got hit by it like some innocent pedestrian by a drunk driver AGAIN #the author shall not know but my followers get to hear the rant #ray's records
