Mac didn’t learn about Will’s childhood until her trip to Missouri. It was a three-day weekend and his sisters had convinced him to take the trip home and to bring the woman he had been besotted with. He was reluctant, making Mac more self-conscious and insecure when she stepped out of the rented black Ford on a dusty Friday morning. She swayed on her feet awkwardly and watched as two grown women leaped from the screen door and ran excitedly towards their big brother. She smiled to herself as Will blushed at the attention and the women fussed over him. “Look at you Mr New York City!” A curly haired blonde had laughed as she messed with his leather jacket. Charlotte, the youngest of all the McAvoys. “Those shoes won’t stay clean long you know!” A straight-haired red head smirked in a lower pitch, kicking dirt towards Will’s boots. Anna, the eldest daughter. “Oh my God is this her?” The younger blonde turned and pounced on Mackenzie before Will even had a chance to introduce her. Both sisters wrapped her up in hugs, cooing over how pretty she was, that she needed fattening up and how in hell had he managed to bag her? Mackenzie remembered feeling embarrassed at all the attention, she remembered feeling overwhelmed by how quick they were to accept her. Most importantly, she remembered looking over at Will and feeling a warm flutter in her heart at the way he looked at her with his sisters. She would later learn it was the first time he began to consider coming home more often, if Mac was by his side. He was looking at her with more love he thought possible, because by simply standing there, she made home feel safe again.

EDIT: If you're still having problems, it might help to switch from "Save/Save as" to "Export (as a) Single Layer". Just. Make SURE the box labeled "Expression Color" is set to RGB. I've been messing with this all day, and it looks like this combination of settings will allow exported PNGs to maintain their colors perfectly. To you. So far both Discord and Toyhouse still only display desaturated images and I cannot for the life of me figure out why

Summary: Will and Mac start to work closely when Will wants to make an on air apology to the American public. Old feelings and memories creep up and bring the two a step closer together.

Tuesday: 6:30am.

It took a lot of effort for Will not to turn up in the newsroom before 5am. He was itching to get in and work – just to have something useful to do! He praised himself on making it until 6:30 am. He was expecting a silent and empty room to greet him. His plans were easy. Brew a strong cup of coffee and do most of the work on his speech before the others came to join him. Mac, Jim and Neal agreed to sit down and draft the ideas of logistics of what he had worked on so far. It was a small team, for now. As things progressed, they would bring in more and more voices and opinions. Eventually, when they had a clean and polished version of the speech – he would hand it over to Charlie to given them the green light. He was hoping to skip the parts in between. Mac had said the speech would hold more gravitas on a Friday night, when their viewers peaked. But he wanted this apology on air as soon as possible.

These were the thoughts going through his mind when he stepped into the bullpen of the newsroom. “Will!” Daniel looked up from his Legos on the floor, building what looked like an impressive rocket ship and waved at him enthusiastically. He looked around and couldn’t see Mackenzie anywhere. “Hey buddy, what are you doing here?” He put his bag down on a nearby table and lifted the boy from the floor and into his arms. Daniel had a scent that was close to Mackenzie’s. It was sweet and pure and what Will imagined people meant when they referred to ‘new baby’ smell.  “Where’s your mom?” “I’m here!” Mac walked into the bullpen with two coffees in hand and papers under her arm. “I was just fetching these.” “Good morning,” he greeted politely. “Why are you two here so early?” “Mamma said you would be here as early as possible to try and do all the work yourself.” Daniel said whilst fiddling with the Lego bricks still in his hand. “Oh, did she now?” Will sent a pointed look over at Mackenzie who smiled smugly. She was clearly right. “Yeah! We’re here to stop you doing any work before Jim gets here.” Daniel giggled, balancing his bricks on the top of Will’s head. Will forced himself not to laugh, letting the bricks balance on his hair. Daniel laughed proudly when he took his hands away and they stayed in place. “Well, you’re doing a terrific job so far,” Will grunted, feigning annoyance. “So, you’ve read it?” Will tried to have his eyes meet Mackenzie’s without moving his head. “It’s a good start.” Mackenzie nodded casually, putting the coffee’s down, and glancing at the paper again. “A good start?” Will turned his head this time, sending the Lego bricks flying. Mac laughed, putting the paper down. “It needs some structuring and some concrete names and statistics. But the emotion is there. Like I said, good start.” “Your mom likes to poke holes in my work.” Will said to Daniel who giggled. “That’s my job.” Mac protested and handed Will his coffee. He took it gratefully and breathed in the rich coffee beans. Strong with a hint of caramel. He never ordered extra syrups in his coffee himself, but Mackenzie knew he secretly liked it. “Will?” Daniel piped up. “I go to the nursery at 7. Will you help me build my rocket until I go?” He spoke with a gentle plea and puppy dog eyes. Will actually felt his heart melt to the floor. “Pleeeaaase!” He said batting his eyelashes when Will didn’t answer right away. Will turned to Mackenzie with a pained expression. “Did you train him to do that?” “I don’t know what you mean.” She said, tilting her head and biting her lower lip. Her own trick that always worked when it came to him. Will rolled his eyes. “Fine! I surrender. No work until the other’s get here. Let’s build a rocket ship!”

“the fuck are you doing, woman? you keep wakin’ me up,” sukuna woke up to your tossing and turning in bed. you’d been rolling around for the past hour now, not finding much comfort in the small breeze coming from the window. it was so god damn hot you felt like you were on fire.

the irritation in your boyfriends voice was clear, you almost felt bad for keeping him up, even if it wasn’t intentional. “‘m in pain ryo. i told you i started my period yesterday, my cramps are jus’ now showing up.”

your body was sprawled across the edge of the bed, a shaking mess. you couldn’t stop moving or the pain in your lower stomach would get even worse. you learned that over the many years of being cursed by this cycle all woman had to go through.

“tch,” he took one look at your shaking body through the darkness. the demon would never admit it, but he actually felt bad. he knew about women and how they usually endure this torture every month, but yours had never been this bad— from what he’s seen at least.

“y’think you’d feel better if i..” sukuna trailed off while staring at the pitch black ceiling. “cuddled you? i think that’s what they call it,” his hand played with the hem of your shirt. even though it was dark, he could still feel the gaze of your addicting eyes.

“you don’t have to ryo! i know that’s not your type of-”sukuna cut you off so quick, almost as if he already knew what you were going to say, and he didn’t want to hear it.

within a blink of an eye he gripped at your waist and pulled you closer to him, hands wrapped around you so tight that there was no room for escape. “shut up brat, n’ just let me do this for you.”

you gasped at the quick change in position, still shocked by how fast he moved. sukuna’s body heat was enough to put you at ease and before you knew it, the shaking had finally stopped.

it was probably because of the rather large hand rubbing at the skin of your lower stomach, or the soft hint of cologne engulfing your senses. you didn’t know what it was, but sukuna fixed your problem in an instant. the cramps were still there, coming and going here and there but they weren’t as painful anymore.

maybe now he could finally get some damn sleep.
