I saw someone saying everyone in lsoh is trans except MAYBE Mushnik and that's the best idea I've ever heard. It's funny to imagine Orin being all like "hah hah, Seymour. I'm rich and have doctor friends, so I have top surgery" and then Seymour is over here using ye olde bandages to bind because neither binders nor sports bras existed in 1960. (I actually did research for this because my original idea was that Seymour used the one forward one backwards sports bra method to bind.)

@just-me-and-the-toaster
Seymour shivered in the cold night air as he walked down Skid Row's quiet streets. He didn't know where exactly he was planning on going, all he knew was that he needed to get out of the shop for a little while. The nightmare that he had awoken from minutes before, filled with blood and vines and the deep, rumbling laughter of a certain hungry plant, had been so distressing that he had practically thrown himself out of bed, hurrying to put on his glasses, a pair of socks, shoes, and an old, worn winter coat over his pajamas before making a quick exit through the back door of the building. Sure, it wasn't the most glamorous look for an up-and-coming experimental botanist such as himself, but given that the late (...or early?) hour meant that there was barely anyone around, let alone the press, he couldn't bring himself to care much about the way he looked right now.
His heart was still pounding in his chest as images from his horrible dream continued to pass through his mind. Maybe he deserved to feel this kind of fear. He had done so many terrible things lately. Yes, perhaps Orin's death could be justified, but leading Mr. Mushnik into the plant? ...What had he been thinking?
His spiral of thoughts was interrupted once he snapped back into reality, realizing where he was; standing in front of Schmendrik's. And... the lights were still on? Huh. Having never visited at such an ungodly time before, he somehow hadn't known this place was a 24-hour establishment.
...Maybe some cheap food, or at least the atmosphere of the place, would help in calming his head.
Deciding not to hesitate any longer, Seymour made his way towards the door. The bell chimed as he opened it and stepped inside, and he let out a quiet sigh as slightly warmer air replaced the chill that had previously surrounded him. Taking a quick glance around, he was grateful to find that there seemed to be nobody here. Nobody, except for a familiar head of blonde hair seated in one of the booths.
Audrey?
Drawn to the sight, he stepped nearer to the figure, blinking in surprise once a closer look confirmed that it was indeed his girlfriend (god, it still felt so strange to think about her like that!) sitting there. What's she doing here?
"...Audrey?" he called out softly, walking forwards until he was standing right over the booth, curiosity and concern for the woman he loved overtaking him. "...What are you doing here? ...Shouldn't you be in bed?"

What are your thoughts on the Twisted Wonderland casts doing Little Shop of Horrors
(whistles) That's a hard one, Anon. Let me see... So, first of all, let's address the true star of this show, Audrey II, the man-eating plant. Putting aside all kinky thoughts (hey, look at my pen name, you know who you're asking), I imagine the plant would still be played by a puppet, if we're talking a stage production at the school. So, who would voice the Mean Green Mother from Outer Space? Well, I USUALLY try to avoid casting the staff members, unless otherwise dictated, but...in this case, I cannot resist. I would say, without question, it would have to be Sam. Sam is the PERFECT casting for the voice of Audrey II: the plant is supposed to have this smooth, lusty, powerful, Southern-accented voice, and is a manipulative creature, very Mephistophelean in nature. I can think of no character who has both those qualities EXCEPT for Sam. He's based on Dr. Facilier, he HAS to play Audrey II. If you tied me to a chair and DEMANDED I cast a student, however...I guess either Jamil or possibly Idia. In the latter's case, I think it could be funny, because Idia finally has a role where he doesn't actually have to be seen by the audience at all. And he can use his tech savvy to doctor his voice, if needed, to make it sound better. No one would ever realize it was him. ;) The Prefect would play either Seymour or Audrey (the human, not the plant). I'm not sure which I prefer, so I'll also give each one a character alternate. For Seymour...hmmm...well, to be honest, Idia has the closest personality of anyone there, but I HIGHLY doubt you could drag him onstage. I'm gonna say Deuce, and Epel for Audrey. I know I use those two A LOT for these types of roles but...I'm sorry, they just seem to work VERY well for these kinds of relationships. Maybe it's because of their own relationship in-game, I dunno. Next, our secondary antagonist, Orin Scrivello. Orin is a real toughy to cast, because he's sort of like the Joker: he's a pure evil monster, a sadistic girlfriend-abusing cad who does what he does just because he enjoys it. He legitimately "gets off," without putting a finer point on things, on causing people pain and discomfort. But he's so enthusiastic and has such a great sense of humor about him and the situations he's in, it makes him an entertaining character. On the other hand, unlike the Joker, he's not especially flamboyant or superficially childish. In fact, despite his title of doctor, he's kind of a bullying thug. I narrowed it down to two options: Floyd Leech and Leona Kingscholar. Both of them have pretty sadistic edges to their characters, and both would look good in a leather jacket. (Ha Ha Ha.) Floyd, I think, has Orin's more "psychotic" side down pat; he's the one I can see as more likely to gleefully sing about his own evil. On the other hand, I think Leona has the more domineering, thuggish edge Orin has down pat. So I guess it depends on which you think works best for your interpretation of the character. The only other major character of note (I'm not counting the Chorus, because I kind of imagine them just being played by Faceless characters) is Mr. Mushnik, the owner of the flower shop. If we're casting staff, I kind of want to put Crowley in that role. Mostly because Crowley and Mushnik have some similar qualities, in my opinion. Both are kind of loveable scumbags. XD If we stick to a student, I'll say Azul. Because he's just always easy to use in "businessman" type roles. :P

since u used a gif of audrey ii, how would u cast the glee folks in little shop?
ohoho funny u would ask that! i definitely have a habit of trying to cast the glee kiddos every time i watch a musical and lsoh was no exception... i actually sent mist an ask with my casting over christmas break (she has received multiple asks where i just cast the glee kids in musicals asdhf) but i cant find it rn and i am too lazy to search lmao
anyway let us begin!
seymour: my inital thought was blaine, which seems rather fitting. maybe an obvious choice but i have no doubt he'd do amazing! finn was a second option bc he really nailed the awkward nerdy character when playing brad in rhps
audrey: rachel, probably? she doesn't seem quite like a rachel character so tina is also a good option (and she deserves a main role!!) but suddenly seymour remaining a blainechel duet felt right to me and let's face it, rachel is a good actress who could still pull off that role
the narrator trio (chiffon, crystal and ronette): im a big fan of the santinacedes vocal combo so that would be my choice, but they do also give off brittanacedes troubletones vibes so i would probably be happy with either option there
the dentist: listen,,,, he appeared on the screen and i went "puck" with no hesitation whatsoever,,, let him sing dentist! and laugh like a deranged person while poor sam or mike sits in the dentist chair doing the lil gargling bits,,, he would have so much fun
audrey ii: i think casting audrey ii was my favourite bc i also had no doubts here,, it's artie guys i cant imagine anyone else doing it,,, i know he'd most likely be the director but please just imagine him sitting in his wheelchair in this ginormous hollow pot controlling the plant tendrils with a lil remote control thing,,,, and then getting to sing three (3!!!) songs,, truly iconic i think it's what he deserved. (the alternative is to have mercedes as audrey ii with the uht as the narrators, but idk im heavily attached to audry ii artie)
mr mushnik: a minor character so i didn't really bother but i could see finn doing that? or schue inserting himself into the musical lasdhfkdsh but lets not go there
i might be missing a character but im pretty sure i got the main ones?

The ACTUAL Sequel Idea...
So... over the years I've had people ask me what kind of continuation I would have past my old fanfics "Return to Skid Row" and "Through Julie's Eyes." The truth is, I wrote both of those stories while I was still in high school. RtSR still holds a special place in my heart for being something I worked so hard to create, but TJE is just doesn't feel like it belongs in the same world of LSoH to me. It never did, but with more than ten years behind me it is clear that "the Julie's Eyes" had a lot more to do with my family falling apart at home than anything "Little Shop of Horrors," but that's another story.
What would the follow-up have been? It would have been a hot mess with Seymour culminating his redemption arc. In RtSR he had achieved self-forgiveness but he had yet to gain the forgiveness of "the higher power" that saw he had been tempted by a demon (Audrey II). I tended to believe I was a lot more clever than I actually was back in those days. I can imagine I would have made some obtuse biblical references without taking any religious education classes to back up my prose.
Seymour would help the US military to take out a full-scale invasion of Audrey IIs while also saving his family. He may or may not have lost a limb or experienced some "rebirth" metaphors in the process...
A joke I may or may not resurrect someday is that Seymour tries to confess to the murders of Orin and Mushnik to investigators who don't believe his story and yuck it up in his face. This is also how the big bad(?) government would be able to cover up the attempted plant takeover of the world. No one would believe something that crazy except those Area 51 weirdos who just won't let 1947 go.
Also, Seymour's mom is alive. She finds out about her son from watching tv and seeing him help save the world and eventually sets out to find him. This was before I saw Roger Corman's Little Shop, so I had no idea what I wanted to do with the character of his mom. If I ever were to play with this idea again I would base her much more off Winnifred Krelboyne from that film; a hypochondriac who came to be that way after realizing she ruined her life and potentially her son's life and joining some kind of hippie commune during the 1960s (though in my story she would have been happy to meet Audrey rather than bothered by her "not being good enough" for Seymour).
The direction I am thinking it would go into now is even more weird on the sci-fi angle. Julie is obsessed with being an astronaut because of the moon landing while Nate would follow his dad around everywhere. In this rewrite they would both be spoiled kids who aren't given proper limits by their parents. Audrey and Seymour reason that their kids should have everything they couldn't have when they were kids, so it's a vicious cycle of emotional neglect. They would get better.
- Will any of these ideas manifest into something more someday? Maybe. I'd like to take a stab (ha) at drawing at least parts of it.

I saw a local production of Little Shop of Horrors and it reminded me of how EASILY you could do that as an AU for Beetlejuice. Half of the cast would be able to easily fit into specific roles and Kerry Butler (Barbara) actually played Audrey in the 2003 revival. There’s also the Faustian themes that both share. But if you changed it up, you could make it more Beetlejuice-esque. For example:
-Of course Beetlejuice would be Audrey II/the plant. It’s perfect for too many reasons especially since they both serve as the ‘Mephistopheles’ character in their unique Faust tales.
-The personalities don’t exactly match up, but Lydia would be a sort of Seymour. Both Beetlejuice/Audrey II influence Lydia/Seymour to make a deal with the devil to get what they desire, but it comes with major consequences (except Lydia actually bests HER Mephistopheles in the end, so I could see that happening too).
-The Maitlands could have Audrey’s role (nice and sweet but not bright at times, have to deal with... uh... unwanted affection, pawns to the ‘Mephistopheles’ goals... oh, and sometimes Audrey II straight up flirted with Audrey, if you know what I’m getting at. And sure, maybe Adam should be Seymour, but if Beetlejuice couldn’t get him to do what he wanted, then that doesn’t work). Also because of this, their relationship with Lydia is that of parental love towards a child, rather than the romantic love between Seymour and Audrey.
-Charles could be Mushnik... but like a GOOD Mushnik who may or may not actually make it out alive (and if he doesn’t, guess who has more to be guilty about). Mushnik was the closest thing Seymour had to a father figure and if Lydia is Seymour, then that makes sense.
-As to who could be Orin...oh, that’s a hard one because he’s a sadist and was a d*** to Audrey, and he doesn’t have an exact counterpart in the world of Beetlejuice (well, Beetlejuice himself is charismatic and evil but he’s not THAT kind of evil as far as I can tell).... IDK maybe Juno since she’s now an abusive evil person, or that Maxie Dean guy (seems to be a creep in this musical)... Like I said, IDK.

O k, i’ve been plaguing myself for days about this… A Sanders Sides / Little Shop of Horrors AU. SEE I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE EASY, BUT LIKE… I CAN’T DECIDE WHO WORKS BETTER AS WHO. Just… read the notes below if you want to, I just. I need help. please.
(here they are in no particular order) (Oh, and Little Shop of Horrors Spoilers??? Does anyone even know Little Shop anymore? I hope so…)
Virgil
Okay so, realistically Seymour makes the most sense to me. Maybe its because his only character trait I can think of is ANXIOUS but you know, whatever.
I guess technically he could be Audrey too? (not audrey two, though I’m labeling that planti boi as ‘Twoey’) She’s this shy character that won’t bring herself out of a relationship that’s… well bad. But I can’t see virgil willing to wear any of those ‘skimpy’ dresses.
I guess third choice is either mushnik or twoey (aka the plant). I don’t really see him as anything else, and HELL to the NO HE AIN’T GONNA BE ORIN.
Roman
Audrey is my optimal choice for him for three reasons. 1) She herself is a dreamer, even having the Somewhere That’s Green daydream song. 2) She is a less than optimal relationship which could be a tie to the Nostalgia video where he didnt want to let go of a long dead relationship. And 3) … i just really like prinxiety and ro in a dress, okay?
Theoretically he could be anybody (if this was them doing a stage production)
Sadly, next up is a tie between Twoey and Orin, mostly cause of their singing roles and sass towards Seymour (Who is most likely gonna stay Virgil), but still.
Seymour and Mushnik don’t really work for him as a character, niether sharing any traits with him. If the sides themselves were putting on a production though, he would 1000% be Seymour because Main Character Drama.
Logan
I think Logan would do well for any male character, just not Audrey. She is SO not him,
I feel that Mushnik works well for him and his general lack for anything not logical. Mushnik worries, sure, but he is more business oriented. Plus his deduction skills during ‘Suppertime’ would be highlighted as the Logical one of the group.
Seymour works too, but only because I feel like he’s the only one to have a ‘strange plant hobby’. Also, he’d be the only one.. dare I say it, dumb enough to feed a plant blood, just to see what happens.
Also there’s a line where the plant calls Seymour ‘Sherlock’… so how could I not???
Orin could also work as Logan since he’s - again - business oriented. He puts pride into his work, even though he lacks the emotion outside of it.
Twoey works… but it’s funnier to see him as a joke and giving him Crofters instead of blood. Just like, “This isn’t what I asked for!” “oh wait shit nevermind, more o dis pls.”
Deceit
Okay, obviously only bad guy roles for Deceit. Maybe this will change if he gets a redemption, but for now… N o .
Twoey and Orin are tied for me, and hands down they have the coolest friggin designs to work around. Twoey is a trickster by nature, and Orin just straight up gives me Deceit vibes with how he handles patients and Audrey. It works well for them both… BUT WHO IS BETTER?!
Mushnik is a solid third since I would hope to have Deceit as someone else, but Mushnik is pretty deceitful himself, getting Seymour to sign adoption papers so that he can have money. That Schmuck…
Yeah, no fuckin’ way he’s being Seymour or Audrey.
Patton
Patton works well as anyone except Orin and Twoey, but like… I like him as Twoey.
I think of Twoey as what it is, a Venus fly trap. The irl plant attracts prey in with a sweet smelling/tasting substance between it’s jaws. So I’ve always entertained the thought of a sweet Twoey, luring people in with it’s candied thoughts of what the future will be… then devouring ones that fall for its sweet appearance
… Okay, I just like evil Patton and I had no one else drawn as Twoey at that point. get off my deeyeck.
Audrey and Seymour seem to work well as they are both kind, forgiving, loving characters. Seymour nursing little Twoey and not having the courage to stand up to it until its too late seems reasonable when you’re morality. Same for if he’s Audrey and can’t get themselves out of an abusive relationship, maybe a connection to Nostalgia pt 2 again with him not wanting to let go of the past good times.
And mushnik… technically he doesn’t work, but it’s cute to think he would really want to call Seymour his son. And he’d wear his dad cardigan for heckin’ sure.
Did anyone ask for this? No. But now it’s here, please help me.
(Oh and the omnipotent urchin people would totally be Joan, Terrence, Valerie, and/or Tayln, because why the fuck wouldn’t they be?)
