Hey gang! Today, I'd like to introduce you to (one of) my Wind In The Willows oc, Odette the Swan!

The swans are all ballerinas in the riverbank, and perform Swan Lake at the start of every season. However, Odette is not very good-

Or, that's what it looks like. She tries her best, but she gets so anxious that she can't concentrate on the routine itself! Her friend, Magpie (who belongs to my friend, Smudge) is helping her learn to calm down.

Odette, like the other swans, is very attracted to shiny things and loves any trinkets that sparkle. She really does mean well, even if she can't always be the most stable. (Or her words don't come out right) She's also terrified of vehicles, ESPECIALLY Toad's motor cars! For some reason, she's scared he'll run her over on purpose (that literally won't happen).

She really does love dancing and is very dedicated to making sure things are perfect! (Or, as perfect as they can be!)

I just realized, i don't have a Chosen Operator Oc for interacting with WITW.

Honestly, it could really be either Chronicler or Samuel.

On the one hand, being the Chosen Operator could really help the Chronicler deal with some of his past-related issues (if the Viriverse doesn't already do that for him, shout out to @alteredsilicone for having my little sciencey guy/s)

On the other, having it so that the one person who can defeat the Indifference and win the war is a downright sadistic gremlin whos only joy in life is messing with people would be really funny, and also cause Loid some massive headaches.

Yknow what?

Also, should it be necessary, ill provide more context on both of them, since this is assuming ya'll know about both of them

WitW Comparison pt 4: TOAD

here he is, folks- the Ambitious Amphibian, the Ayatollah of Rock n Rollah, Toad of Toad Hall!

it takes a great effort to portray him right, and which version will come out on top? let's find out!

tj!Toad is, in my honest opinion, a little too much like me to be comfortable with.

i WAS Toad, when i was a kid. unaware of how the world works, bad with money, socially awkward, and switches hyperfixations at the drop of a hat. truly an ADHD icon /s.

look at him, so happy to have visitors. he wants to be around people so bad, but he just has zero sense and cannot read a room.

he's the one who sells Mole's home to the weasels, just so he can have quick access to more money.

it's not that he's greedy about money- quite the opposite, in fact. he will throw money at whatever he wants as long as he gets the gratification from it.

Rat: "Don't worry, he'll soon get bored with it."

geez, not even a day and he's already tired of the caravan.

at least he's a better driver than me

about the only thing he learns from Badger after a stern talking-to is to call people he doesn't like "nincompoop".

which gets him 15 years added to his prison sentence for back-talking a Bobby.

i'm gonna skip the whole "disguise in drag" thing, for both my and your sake.

does he ever feel bad about what he's done? i would say at least once.

that shell-shocked look right there. he's thinking to himself "I screwed up, and it's all my fault."

but considering he's Toad, he recovers rather quickly after he learns that Toad Hall wasn't blown up.

Toad, in pretty much every adaptation i've seen, suffers from a heavy case of Aesop Amnesia. he rarely, if ever, learns his lesson, and gets away with it in the end.

tj!Toad is very much what i call a "manchild." even Bertie Wooster would tell him to wisen up.

will the musical make him better? let's find out!

i LOVE musical!Toad. he has influenced me enough to add some of his behaviors to my own oc, and i do not regret it one bit.

seriously, i have to wonder how he can talk when he's too busy chewing the scenery. absolute Mad Lad. my goal as a masc NB is to look like this in the future.

it's too late. the hyperfixation has already taken ahold of him.

Ork logic tells me that red things go fasta, so i gotta believe them. and it feels like Toad has also taken that to heart. if he had a GoPro, he'd absolutely slap that bad boy on and cruise around doing dangerous stunts. actually, scratch that- he'd still do it, GoPro or not. it's all about the adrenaline, babey!!!

once more, i will skip the drag scene for everyone's sake.

so, he retakes Toad Hall, gets forgiven (but just barely), and has a party. is he gonna be able to surpass tj!Toad?

of course he does.

dunno where he got the jetpack, or how much it cost, but he is now free to menace the skies at his leisure.

musical!Toad is not a good person. he's selfish, fickle, and gets away with multiple crimes in the end.

but is he fun to watch? absolutely! he hams it up loudly and proudly. he's Toad of Toad Hall, and you will bear witness to his greatness.

just take the jetpack away from him before he hurts somebody. or himself. preferably not both.

As a little catch up in my oc universe after New War Astrophel is left extremely depressed and fatigued, switching sides to have Orokin Royal Privilege wasn’t so fun was it Astro? He’s going through a lot I shouldn’t say that. Astrophel is so depressed and fatigued still, they do not go with Namid to investigate the Zariman/don’t know if Namid has told Astrophel about it yet. By WitW Astrophel is feeling good enough to go on missions again and reluctantly helped out our favourite Loid, Astro hates Deimos but as long as he’s not outside on the fleshy planet they feel less icked out.

Now to Jade Shadows.

Namid and Astrophel find themselves finally having a slow day and Namid is trying to broach some hard conversations about some realizations they have come to, realizations they had back in New War while Astrophel was under Ballas’ control… those realizations being Feelings. Wow, T4T real?

Namid is stuttering and fumbling trying to get the words to form correctly, flustered and fiddling with their hair braid as they struggle to string a sentence together. Just as Namid’s lips start to remember how to speak— The Stalker shows up, and he’s got problems.

Namid’s eye is TWITCHING and they are mildly going insane that they have to put this conversation off for the 500th time since they got Astrophel back.

Astrophel on the other hand feels an Immediate connection to Jade’s feather. He hasn’t really felt anything since New War. Astrophel offers to find Jade/ connect with her through transference.

Being connected to Jade during the Big Moment awakens something in Astro, a fighting spark, a burning in his stomach to keep fighting. Jade and Stalker’s story and how it mimics his own relationships to Namid and Orion. The power imbalance. For a moment Astrophel knows exactly how it would play out if he were still an Orokin Prince, mid trance he looks over at Namid and sees them distorted, they would not have been able to be together either. His overbearing mothering and coddling, did Astrophel want children? Could he even have them now after how void touched the incident left all the Tenno? It didn’t matter, Astrophel comes out of the transference trance with depression brain fog gone, replaced with a fiery passion, he could not save the Jade he was connected to but he can create the next.

Namid banging their head against a wall cause this ends with them still not talking about their feelings lol.

Also not sure what the Stalker-Jade baby is named in this story 2 Orions existing would be hilarious 🤣

redesign of my 2022 wind in the willows oc, bingo (although if he was in the book, he would had just been called puppy hence the tiny note)

he's a baby golden retriever dog who was abandoned due to circumstances but ratty and mole found him one day and decided to adopt him. aka basically my ratty x mole fanchild and he's also around portly's age

he's based off of an episode from the 90s anime series where the gang found a lost puppy and ratty decided to take care of them until they were eventually reunited with their mother. it's one of my favorite episodes and i'm a bit of a dog person myself so i basically stole the idea with some changes but hey, who's gonna sue me for stealing the basic trope of raising a dog?
