‘Eyes’ are one of the more common magic eating species found throughout the Spiral. Though mostly solitary, large flocks do congregate around areas of heavily concentrated magic, a property that has aided in the mapping of Leylines.

Different species of Eye feed on different forms of magic, each shaped by the type they consume. Most wizards have experienced one following them around at one point or another; they’re loyal pets to some and nuisances to others.

Eyes tendency to follow outbreaks of magic has led to much superstition and folklore surrounding them, especially the death variety.

i think about merle's and the wizard's relationship often. merle himself is probably traumatized from all that he had gone through, we all forget bro is old as hell. possibly centuries old. all jokes aside, i'm sure he does feel regret for putting the wizard through so much. maybe he did so because he himself didn't have it in him to fight anymore.

do you just ever wonder how he was feeling when the wizard was declared enemy of the spiral? marleybone and polaris are members of the council of light. imagine the great turmoil that this caused in there. the CoL would be obligated to help them hunt the wizard given that they're allies, but they're all conflicted. confused. the wizard had only done good, right? why are they an enemy now?

merle hasn't personally heard from the wizard in years, he's just piecing things together based off the stuff he hears about. he doesn't know their relationship with dasein. all he knew was that he was the embodiment of nothing. he's heard that there's two brand new worlds that spawned out of nowhere. he's worried, but the wizard had outgrown him long ago. there's nothing he can do now, even if he wanted to. a part of him feels like he failed them.

Since every student of Ravenwood can't be The Young Wizard:tm:, I like to imagine all manner of professions which both alumni and current students like to pick up to make use of their mana for the sake of contributing to their homes, other than immediately becoming scholars

Various inventors guilds that have popped up and collaborated with each other for all manner of creations to benefit the lives of civilians (or, just for the sake of testing the boundaries of knowledge).

Wizards working in local infirmaries and having small medical practices, coming up with unique ways of using healing magic to help magic and non-magic users alike.

Effects specialists, who make use of their powers to help with shows at venues such as Fireglobe Theatre and play around with illusory magic for entertainment purposes

Of course, wizards like Boris Tallstaff who work within local libraries as archivists and assistants– restoring older texts and helping scholars retrieve information thanks to magic sorting systems.

Spiral researchers-- those who study the flora and fauna, and look into the ways magic impacts them. Particularly those who know about the song of creation, seeing the ways in which traces of it can be found in natural settings as a recurring trend, and what this means for the spiral and those living in it.

I been wondering how you think the wizard fights non magical enemies?( I know the duel circle is a game mechanic for all the fights) there are enemies from like marleybone who focus more on technology than magic hech I'm pretty sure we fight a scientist who values science over magic only to use magic to fight us, like is it similar to pirate101

I think it honestly depends on personal headcanons/how you envision wizard battles to play out. Personally I HC that the battle circle is to contain the fight itself and only falls once a winner is determined.

Being a wizard derives from the word ‘wys’, which is just someone who is educated and wise. Magic is as much of a studied practice as science. Maybe in a way they’re both ‘magic’ or both ‘science’ and have their own means of producing a desired outcome :)

Library

Hey so, the libraries in the wizard world are weird. Specifically the one in WizardCity I mean- the water ,WHY WOULD THERE BE WATER there are four "fountains" and I mean water is pretty bad for... Well books. But I was thinking 🤔, you are taking mostly care of small children who can start fire 🔥 out if nowhere.And Harold already said in some side quest he distrusts the fire students with the books. So MAYBE besides being extra,the water might be a way to protect the library to burn down,since in WizardCity they teach practical magic.

Now in Pigswick academy the library is just A GIANT BOOK MAZE and is much larger then the WizardCity one(Also no water).So my guess since the Pigswick students are mostly studying magic by theory the chances of burning something are rather low and the need for books are so much larger since it's essential for Thier studies

Wears his heart on his sleeve and, by nature, tends to take other people’s words at face value. Of course, given the type of world he grew up in, he knows he has to be very careful with who he trusts and shows kindness too. How else do you think he would come to trust and work with the Wizard so easily?

Dyvim confuses Hop for a type of measurement when discussing “How many Horned Limes are in a Hop?” in the Khonda Desert (which to be fair, I would be confused too)

Has a strong sense of justice, which apparently tends to be common among people on the spectrum.

Occasionally, others complain of how loud he is; volume control is something Autistic people can struggle with.

He occasionally misunderstands social queues or when is the right time to say certain things. Most notably, when he decides to outwardly say out loud to Zarozinia that he and the Wizard are her and Zaltanna’s allies in Fort Rachias in front of Umbra Legion soldiers. Of course, he’s worked very hard at trying to not do that over the years (he kinda has/had to in the environment he grew up in otherwise for…obvious reasons).

He may occasionally mutter his thoughts aloud without meaning to.

While before I headcanoned his aversion to meat and fish due to potential fear of eating his own kind, I think that he also has sensory issues related to those food groups, mostly smell (As seen in the siege of Fort Rachias and the Karamelle Prequest). As someone with my own sensory issues and trauma related to foods, it makes sense!

Dyvim’s special interest is in history, mostly with Khrysalis’s old times before the war and fall of Bastion. (I don’t think anyone else brings up the Old Times as much as he does.)

i genuinely feel like that out of ALL the ravenwood professors, regardless of school, the yw becomes closest to cyrus. the entire malistaire/dragonspyre and azteca ordeals, it all caused the two to share a mutual understanding and develop some sort of a connection. perhaps something more of a father-child connection than what the wizard had with ambrose. (or older sibling/younger sibling, whatever ur interpretation is)

cyrus stopped seeing the wizard as some random child, and the wizard began to understand why cyrus is the way he is. anyone in his shoes would have turned out the same way. cyrus' silly attempt at trying to get the wizard expelled at the beginning? it only makes them laugh now.

whether or not the yw is a myth wizard, he was proud to see them graduate regardless. but he also felt a deep and profound sadness because of all they've gone through.

Personal Wizard101 Headcannons

The dorms, while separated by gender, are psudeo tardis like inside but it's more of like the floors extend really far upwards. Each floor is sorted like by like five people per floor and you've got like an older wizard RA to help out

There's a dining hall in the lower part of the city but my other hc is that there is food carts in olde town

The younger wizards are told what school they'll fall under inside of Bartelby where they get like lil care baskets that have the baby wizard base gear

Also like, I like to headcannon that you can pick out the gaggles of new students because they stick together.

new oc time! This is Travi, a Fire wizard mongu from Mirage and the youngest brother to Ricky, Tiki, and Taffy from the Mongu Refuge dungeon. He's about 12 years younger than them and is excluded from whatever they do, so he sets out across the spiral to prove to them and himself that he's just as powerful as they are. and also to whoop them in a battle with his new-found magical abilities but dont worry about that
