Fish eyes and Chinese history

So in romance of the three kingdoms (technically not all real history) there's that guy called Xiahou Dun, as in his surname is Xiahou and his own name is dun, and he's missing an eye.

Basically, he got shot in the eye with an arrow, whcih is standard, but then, because his body is given and made by his parents and Chinese people love being filial, he decides to *pluck out his own eye* and *eat his own eye so as to not disrespect his parents work*
