the fact that the Google assistant can't set location-based reminders—something my Windows Phone could do more than a decade ago—is frankly embarrassing

Let’s create a small script with a few of the most useful commands, which we store as ~/temperature. It is an ARM-based system with (as of the model 3) 1GB of memory, a 1.2 GHz or 1.4GHz CPU, USB ports, Ethernet port, Bluetooth, WiFi, HDMI, and more.
#Raspberry pi system monitor for pc manual
You can read more about it on the vcgencmd manual page. Note: PiDoctor used to be stand-alone, but is now part of picockpit-client. PiDoctor will also allow you to learn many details about your Raspberry Pi, including where it was manufactured, how much RAM it has, and so on. For a solid overview on cases, see Raspberry Pi 4 Cases, Temperature and CPU Throttling Under Load by Martin Rowan. To monitor your Raspberry Pi system’s health, you can use PiCockpit’s app PiDoctor. Various choices will lead to either much better or much worse cooling results. There is also a lot to be said about which case you choose for your Raspberry Pi 4. Unless you’re doing something non-default like overclocking, or changing settings. slow down) when the temperature reaches a certain point. If your environment gets hotter (summer weather etc.) expect your Raspberry Pi to go up in temperature also.Īnd it is good to keep in mind that the Raspberry Pi will generally throttle (i.e. The environment/room temperature is off importance too. In general, if you can run at 50 degrees Celsius or less, it seems you should be in the green zone.Įven if you should go above it, you may be able to add a little fan, some cooling sinks, and quickly drive down the temperature.

The default one password is Raspberry while the username is Pi. It will then request for password and username. Once that is done, you will receive a security alert in which you will click Yes.

That is an upper limit, and you should note that there may some chips on the Raspberry mainboard which are only qualified to go up to 70 Degrees Celsius. Start by downloading PuTTY software on a laptop, open it and then type your Raspberry Pi’s IP address and then click open. The Raspberry Pi foundation recommends to keep your Raspberry Pi below 85 degrees Celsius. I have another Raspberry Pi 3 with a plastic shell, a couple of heat sinks and no fan, and that one is running at 44.4 Degrees Celsius currently. Mine (a Raspberry Pi 4) runs in a tight metal enclosure (the armour twin fan aluminum radiator housing) with a single cooling fan running, and it is quite cool here tonight. Note that the temperature on your Pi may be higher, for example 45 degrees Celsius. You should receive output similar to the following: Building a DIY Raspberry Pi Custom PC Monitoring Screen System LINKS 3 months free Private Internet Acceess. Go ahead and execute the following command: vcgencmd measure_temp If you received output, which had more information then a leading vcgencmd:, then you are good to go. It will likely be present if you are using Raspbian. Once you are at the terminal prompt, you will first want to check that the vcgencmd utility is available to you.

Full Read Consistency Within Percona Kubernetes Operator for Percona XtraDB Cluster
The aim of Percona Kubernetes Operator for Percona XtraDB Cluster is to be a special type of controller introduced to simplify complex deployments. The Operator extends the Kubernetes API with custom resources. The Operator solution is using Percona XtraDB Cluster (PXC) behind the hood to provide a highly available, resilient, and scalable MySQL service in the Kubernetes space. This solution comes with all the advantages/disadvantages provided by Kubernetes, plus some advantages of its own like the capacity to scale reads on the nodes that are not Primary. Of course, there are some limitations like the way PXC handles DDLs, which may impact the service, but there is always a cost to pay to get something, expecting to have it all for free is unreasonable. In this context, we need to talk and cover what is full read consistency in this solution and why it is important to understand the role it plays. Stale Reads When using Kubernetes we should talk about the service and not about the technology/product used to deliver such service. In our case, the Percona Operator is there to deliver a MySQL service. We should then see that as a whole, as a single object. To be more clear what we must consider is NOT the fact we have a cluster behind the service but that we have a service that to be resilient and highly available, use a cluster. We should not care if a node/pod goes down unless the service is discontinued. What we have as a plus in the Percona Operator solution is a certain level of READ scalability. This achieved optimizing the use of the non PRIMARY nodes, and instead of having them sitting there applying only replicated data, the Percona Operator provides access to them to scale the reads. But… there is always a BUT 🙂 Let us start with an image: (https://www.slideshare.net/lefred.descamps/galera-replication-demystified-how-does-it-work) from Fred Descamps) By design, the apply and commit finalize in Galera (PXC) may have (and has) a delay between nodes. This means that, if using defaults, applications may have inconsistent reads if trying to access the data from different nodes than the Primary. It provides access using two different solutions: Using HAProxy (default) Using ProxySQL When using HAProxy you will have 2 entry points: cluster1-haproxy, which will point to the Primary ONLY, for reads and writes. This is the default entry point for the applications to the MySQL database. cluster1-haproxy-replicas, which will point to all three nodes and is supposed to be used for READS only. This is the PLUS you can use if your application has READ/WRITE separation. Please note that at the moment there is nothing preventing an application to use the cluster1-haproxy-replicas also for write, but that is dangerous and wrong because will generate a lot of certification conflicts and BF abort given it will distribute writes all over the cluster impacting on performance as well (and not giving you any write scaling): [marcotusa@instance-1 ~]$ for i in `seq 1 100`; do mysql -h cluster1-haproxy-replicas -e "insert into test.iamwritingto values(null,@@hostname)";done +----------------+-------------+ | host | count(host) | +----------------+-------------+ | cluster1-pxc-1 | 34 | | cluster1-pxc-2 | 33 | | cluster1-pxc-0 | 33 | +----------------+-------------+ When using ProxySQL the entry point is a single one, but you may define query rules to automatically split the R/W requests coming from the application. This is the preferred method when an application has no way to separate the READS from the writes. Here I have done a comparison of the two methods, HAProxy and ProxySQL. Now, as mentioned above, by default, PXC (any Galera base solution) comes with some relaxed settings, for performance purposes. This is normally fine in many standard cases, but if you use the Percona Operator and use the PLUS of scaling reads using the second access point with HAproxy or Query Rules with Proxysql, you should NOT have stale reads, given the service must provide consistent data, as if you are acting on a single node. To achieve that you can change the defaults and change the parameter in PXC wsrep_sync_wait. When changing the parameter wsrep_sync_wait as explained in the documentation, the node initiates a causality check, blocking incoming queries while it catches up with the cluster. Once all data on the node receiving the READ request is commit_finalized, the node performs the read. But this has a performance impact, as said before. What Is The Impact? To test the performance impact I had used a cluster deployed in GKE, with these characteristics: 3 Main nodes n2-standard-8 (8 vCPUs, 32 GB memory) 1 App node n2-standard-8 (8 vCPUs, 32 GB memory) PXC pods using: 25GB of the 32 available 6 CPU of the 8 available HAProxy: 600m CPU 1GB RAM PMM agent 500m CPU 500 MB Ram In the application node, I used sysbench running two instances, one in r/w mode the other only reads. Finally, to test the stale read, I used the stale read test from my test suite. Given I was looking for results with a moderate load, I just used 68/96/128 threads per sysbench instance. Results Marco, did we have or not have stale reads? Yes, we did: I had from 0 (with very light load) up to 37% stale reads with a MODERATED load, where moderated was the 128 threads sysbench running. Setting wsrep_sync_wait=3 of course I had full consistency. But I had performance loss: As you can see, I had an average loss of 11% in case of READS: While for writes the average loss was 16%. Conclusions At this point, we need to stop and think about what is worth doing. If my application is READs heavy and READs scaling, it is probably worth enabling the full synchronicity given scaling on the additional node allows me to have 2x or more READs. If instead my application is write critical, probably losing also ~16% performance is not good. Finally if my application is stale reads tolerant, I will just go with the defaults and get all the benefits without penalties. Also keep in mind that Percona Kubernetes Operator for Percona XtraDB Cluster is designed to offer a MySQL service so the state of the single node is not as critical as if you are using a default PXC installation, PODs are by nature ephemeral objects while service is resilient. Flashback: Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 fixed past mistakes by choosing Android
2008-2010 was a difficult time for Sony Ericsson. In late 2008, it released its first Windows Mobile device, the Xperia X1. A year later, its first non-UIQ Symbian phone came out, the Idou. Another year and the Xperia brand underwent a brain swap and it was now a series of Android phones.
The first was the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10. It made its debut on April 1 2010, launching on the NTT DoCoMo network and it became the fastest-selling smartphone in the carriers history reports from the time indicate that the X10 sold 120,000 units in three weeks, beating even the iPhone 3GS (32GB). Stores were sold out and Sony Ericsson was rushing to ship more units, everything looked rosy (in Japan, anyway).
The phone ditched the triangular motifs of the original Xperia as well as the slide-out keyboard. Instead, its design drew inspiration from the Vivaz, SEs second Symbian S60 phone.

Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 SE Vivaz Xperia X1
The Idou and Vivaz were camera-focused phones the former was part of the 12MP camera phone elite, the latter was among the first to record 720p video. The Xperia X10 was less ambitious, settling for an 8MP camera with 480p video capture.
However, that would later be bumped up to 720p and at 30fps with an update (whereas the Vivaz topped out at 720p @ 24fps). This update also enabled DLNA.

The camera interface
The phone actually had a good life, as far as updates are concerned. It came with Android 1.6 Donut out of the box, then got up to 2.1 Eclair and thats as far as it was planned to go. But then the company changed its mind and pushed it all the way up to Android 2.3 Gingerbread. It did take its sweet time doing it, however.
The Xperia X10 was powered by the original Qualcomm Snapdragon with a single Scorpion core running at 1.0GHz. This was a fairly powerful platform for early 2010, though the phone was low on memory.
It came with only 384MB of RAM and even worse, 1GB of storage (only half of which was available to the user). For comparison, the Samsung Galaxy S that launched around the same time had 512MB of RAM and 8GB storage (with a 16GB option). Yes, the Xperia had a microSD slot, but so did most phones back then.
The company didnt learn its lesson either and tried to base its 2011 models, the Xperia arc, neo and ray, on more or less the same hardware (with 512MB of RAM, and a pitiful 320MB of user-available storage). Also remember that 2011 was when the first dual core CPUs arrived on mobile. But thats a story for another time.
Going back the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10, it had a 4.0 screen with 480 x 854px resolution, that was fairly large for the day. And while the screen was originally displayed only 65K colors (due to a limitation of 1.6 Donut), it shone with 16M hues after it was updated to 2.1 Eclair. However, multi-touch could not be enabled the hardware did not support it (and to be fair, neither did early Android versions).

Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 next to the X10 mini and Apple iPhone 3G
The Android interface was customized with two major additions, Timescape and Mediascape. Both clearly had a peek at the PlayStation 3 interface for inspiration, though they werent a 1:1 copy of the XrossMediaBar.
Timescape combined your call log, SMS, MMS, email, Facebook and Twitter updates into a single stream, presented with a stack of cards flying through 3D space. Tabs could be used to filter the stream and view only the SMS messages, for example. If you liked it well enough, you could set Timescape to be your home screen.

The Timescape in action
Mediascape was just the gallery app, dividing music, videos and photos into tabs. It dropped the 3D cards in favor of the more traditional list of files approach. It wasnt the best at its job, but the Infinite button was interesting. It automatically found related content, e.g. all photos taken on the same day or music videos on YouTube, depending on the file you were viewing.

Mediascape
Ultimately, we praised the Xperia X10s fast chipset, gorgeous screen and capable camera, but while Timescape and Mediascape were neat, the phone was lagging behind other Android flagships with OS updates.
It wasnt smooth sailing the entire way, but overall the X10 was quite successful given that it was the first of its kind. The Xperia arc would replace it in early 2011 (that was even more troubled). At that point the writing was on the wall the Sony Ericsson partnership was falling apart and it would soon be Sony alone.
Early 2012 brought the first just Sony Xperia and while that showed a tighter focus and boasted more Sony trademarks (which the X10 mostly lacked), the Xperia lineup could not match the golden days of Sony Ericsson.
At least President and CEO of Sony Ericsson, Bert Nordberg, was right Android was better than WP7. He called Android the best choice we could have made and said his company should have taken the iPhone more seriously when it arrived in 2007.

Hackintosh Joy?
The world of Hackintosh is strange world full of pitfalls and traps and is not recommended for one to run blindly into. However it is one I decided to take upon recently.
Well I say blindly that is not true I did Hackintosh a machine several years ago with Snow Leopard, and before that I had attempted to run OS X 10.2 and using Pear PC from Prasys which was more like a Bochs kind of emulator rather than a Hackintosh.
So for those not in the know what a Hackintosh is… It is the process of getting a PC to run the Mac OS X operating systems. Rather than an actual Apple Mac machine. Is it illegal, yes as you are violating the terms of the licensing agreement of the MacOS which quite categorically states that the OS must be installed on Apple hardware.
So while I await for the letters of cease and desist from Apple and they send the lawyers after me (don’t think they will really). I will explain my fun and games I had to get things running.
First I need to inform you the PC I set this up on is a Dell Optiplex 780 (so definitely not an Apple). Which has an Intel Core 2 Duo 2.93 Ghz E6600 processor, A Nvidia GeForce GT710 1GB Graphics card, 8 GB DDR3 Ram, A USB Wi-Fi card, USB Bluetooth Adapter and onboard sound. The software was being installed on an external 1TB Toshiba hard drive connected via USB.
Ok so I had read that the best way to create a boot USB stick was to setup a Snow Leopard installation and then using that as base to then write the Mac OS X Sierra (which I chose to use as High Sierra was still in beta at the time) because it would support my Nvidia graphics card and others probably wouldn’t.
First make sure BIOS is set to use ACPI which it wasn’t. So sorted that and saved.
So I downloaded a boot.iso and burned it to CD. Dug out my Show Leopard DVD (Yes I have an actual DVD) and installed it to the PC. Normally you have to reformat your drive to set it to GPT but I for some reason had done that previously to the drive so I just had to clear the existing partitions and create a Mac HFS+ Journaled one. Luckily the SL installer disc had the Disc Utility app for this reason. After installation it reboots.
After install I had to keep the boot CD in as there was no readable boot loader for the PC yet on the external drive. So load boot CD, select new Mac drive and wait for it to load.
First you have to install the FakeSMC and NullCPUPowerManagement ones which make the OSX think it’s a genuine Mac and stops the CPU from being recognised. I had downloaded few tools such as Kext Helper and others on a USB stick separate from the one I wanted to write the Mac OS on.
Next you have to setup the sound so I used a kext called VoodooHDA which is probably the most used sound driver in the Hackintosh world. Now I had to install a bootloader that the PC would see. In this case I used Chameleon only because I had used it last time I setup my SL rig and it worked.
Ok time to rebuild all the extension caches etc so it will see the drivers. Reboot all magical and working. This is all going very well. Found a disc I had with the Wifi driver (I remember it took me ages to find the right one and had to download about five different versions until I found the one that worked) so I saved time trawling around the net again.
Installed it using Kext Helper etc…Reboot, setup Wifi and it works a treat…
So far, so darned good then huh? Magic, well as I said I had installed Snow Leopard on a previous machine so doing this one was pretty straightforward.
However for all it can see the Nvidia card it can’t use it as there is no driver for it. So limited to what SL can do and no games will run as it’s using a VESA driver. Most games need Quartz Extreme which allows the usage of Open GL.
So I attempt to get OS X Sierra but for some reason although I have upgraded the system to 10.6.8 and the App Store app is installed by Software Update. Which was fun as after the Combo update you have to reinstall half of the kexts as it has updated several which you don’t want it to.
I could sit and list step by step how you do it but to be honest unless you are doing this, why bother also there are loads of guides which tell you how to do this if you do a minor Google search. Lets just say I did it and the App Store would not connect and I could not sign in using my Apple account ID for some unknown reason so I could not download OS X Sierra direct from the App Store as all the guides instructed.
Hmmm… things are going a bit wonky…
Ok off to the Internet… Various distributions exist although most of the OSX86 websites will admit it, try to get people to avoid them. You can get ones made for a price and ones that are free. I was genuinely going to try and get it from the Apple App Store but it wouldn’t let me in.
So after a scout about I download the Sierra Hackintosh Zone distro from Niresh (I will not include links but it’s not exactly hard to find). There are others out there but this is the one I went for.
Apparently you put it in a directory on the Hackintosh and run the Restore Sierra app that you also have to download from them. Try this and sod all happens.
Other way is to go back to Windows and use a program called TransMac which is what I did. Transmac is not freeware but you can trial it 15 days so all good. To buy it’s about $60. I’m in the UK so probably about £45 for a tool I may never use again we shall see.
So I managed to write the Sierra Setup USB drive without using the Snow Leopard setup, so installing it and setting up drivers for it was a complete waste of time. Fun, nostalgic but ultimately useless.
Now as it’s a distro most of the kexts are built into the setup installer and all you have to do is customise it to use the ones it has. You can update them later yourself.
So I set it off installing after erasing the now redundant SL from the partition. I set it to boot using the Clover Bootloader as I heard it makes upgrading to things such as High Sierra much easier.
Installs fine and boot is set by the installer so all good. Now the fun begins. I have got to install a few drivers such as Wifi and Graphics. Sound drivers (later version of VoodooHDA) were in the distro setup so that’s ok, don’t have set them up.
Right first I attempt to install the graphics driver. I have it on the flash drive used earlier. Insert it and first problem arises. It does not come up on the desktop. SL it had come up fine not in Sierra. I check the System Information and yes it can see it, but is not mounting it.
Right not a great start. Especially as both drivers are on that flash drive.
Back to Windows… Transmac the drivers across to the Sierra drive. This program is proving more useful than I thought. Right restart into Sierra and install drivers.
Graphics Driver installs fine its a PKG (Mac equivalent of an MSI file)file so after asking for my password it installer using the standard Apple Installer app.
However the Wifi driver is a kext (also its from Mavericks so not sure it will even work) so luckily this distro has already installed a tool called Kext Wizard (the Sierra equivalent of Kext Helper used with SL). Install kext and reinstall caches etc. time to reboot to see if this works.
System starts but when it gets to the part where you login it now just turns off the monitor to you can’t go any further. Oh not good.
Now if Snow Leopard had an issue like that I could use the boot CD to get back in with this one I can’t it seems.
Ok rerun setup, erase hard drive, reinstall OS and start again. Back to where I was before I installed the two previous drivers. Thinking it was the Nvidia driver after it was the screen. I thought fine I will install the Wifi driver then I can see if I can find an updated Nvidia driver online once the setup is done. So install kext etc… Reboot
Once again it locks up at screen to login by disabling video. Oh ok then must be the Wifi kext thats the issue well it is supposed to be for Mavericks so obviously it is throwing things although it is rumoured to work. Time to reinstall again.
This time I retried the Nvidia driver which worked but when ever I restarted it defaulted back to not using it. Ok Clover Configurator you turn it on using a switch. Just mount the EFI and change a few settings in the plist file.
Well Configurator won’t mount the EFI no matter how much you try. So it won’t set the switch. Also every time I reboot my PC it is destroying the BIOS setup and I have to reset it which is becoming annoying.
Ok so not working well. I discover the BIOS issue is because the Real Time clock or RTC as better known is throwing out the bios settings.
Drop to Windows, download RTC fix for 10.12, Transmac to Sierra drive and restart. Turns out its a kext. Install kext, rebuild caches etc… Reboot, locked out of video driver again. Why? this was supposed to be for this version.
Turns out that MacOS Sierra has a system to prevent tampering with system files called SIP (System Integrity Protection) stopping me from installing kexts. I can turn it off using Clover (remember the configurator tool does not work, so no I can’t). Getting frustrated at this point and close down for the night. Feeling annoyed and beaten by the Hackintosh.
Ok reinstall for what feels like the millionth time but this time I check to see if there is a Chameleon option rather than Clover. Yes there is known as the Chameleon Enoch bootloader.
Start up so install Nvidia driver. Set up switch using Chameleon Wizard and sure enough it works first time. Ok so now I try RTC kext using Kext Wizard, you know the drill by now… restart but this time it works it lets me back in and the driver has installed. Install prefpane(basically a control panel setting screen) and setup Wifi… it works.
Ok Install RTC driver, upgrade VoodooHDA to latest version. Try to get software App Store, sign in won’t work. Test signing in with iTunes works fine. Time to go internet reading.
Find out this is common. Apparently you need to remove the drivers under network and its configuration plist and Reboot, then next time it should reset the Ethernet driver to En0 and all should work. Handy as I need to reboot for the kexts to be loaded.
RTC patch works as I don’t have reset my BIOS. Thanks for that small mercy. Sound is working still after update. Right try App Store still no joy. I decide to forgo the App Store and just download apps the normal way which seems to work.
Now the sound has this buzzing going on every time it loads. It works just has this constant buzz. I discover I have missed installing the prefpane. Ok so I do now I discover it is using a setting called Speaker which is never used as far as I have ascertained. By muting it the buzzing stops, however sound in the rest of OS is fine. However when I restart the setting does not save and the buzzing is back.
My own fault as a few pages on in the thread where I got the prefpane, it supplies you an app to put in startup which keeps the settings. Which once installed and set to load automatically has done it’s job like a trooper.
So now install a few things such as Steam and test games such as Terraria, Starbound and Batman Arkham Asylum GOTY edition to challenge the driver. All work perfectly fine.
Installed MacJournal and Writeroom which I own from Macheist Nanobundles and I upgraded Writeroom 2 to 3 and bought the new license when I had a G5 a while ago. In fact this whole report has been written using WriteRoom 3 on the Hackintosh.
So that brings to today. I still have not solved the App Store issue but for now it is functional enough to do stuff on. Sod it… Eventually I might need the App Store but as of yet. Most stuff is downloadable from outside it still.
One day I might figure what is wrong… It might need something upgrading or resetting to access the App Store but I am damned if I know what it is.
Installed Audacity and connected my Blue Snowball mic via USB. It found it and it works. also now the USB drives will detect and display. It seems Chameleon does not cause the issues that Clover did.
I am sure people will complain that Clover is the superior product, and in many ways it probably is, but if it does not work very well then I will kick it to the kerb. Faster than anything for a thing I know and have proved to work.
Maybe the latest version of Clover has fixed many of these issues but I don’t care. In time I may consider trying to move to High Sierra and once again the claim is it’s easier with Clover. Well that will have to wait and see.
As for TransMac it seems a useful tool would I invest in it. If I was going to use a Hackintosh regularly then why not it seems quite useful.
Someone who has done the Clover setup which works are probably wanting to beat me up for being stupid. Well you are probably right but I don’t care. They can also sort out the App store issue too. Good for you have a Gold star.
For now it works ok, while not perfect so I leave it at that… Nanoo Nanoo!

This review unit was sent to me courtesy of the lovely people at Videostrong, so thank you very much, and especially Emmy & Cheryl, for the help!
Videostrong Technology Co. Ltd. was founded in 1998. They produce a line of android based TV boxes and dongles, as well as hybrid boxes. Hybrid boxes are TV boxes which incorporate other abilities such as DVB tuners of different standards (T2, S2, ATSC and others) as well as capabilities such as HDTV recording (PVR).
KI Plus is one of the latest models which Videostrong put out, and they have delayed its release to get a more stable firmware working – which is appreciated. The advantages of KI Plus (aside from the Amlogic S905 chipset): integrated DVB-T2 and DVB-S2 digital TV tuners. Those allow reception of over-the-air standard and high definition digital TV transmissions, where available.
What’s in the Box?
As can be seen both in the unboxing video and the photo below, the package is pretty standard, with the DC power adapter, HDMI 2.0 cable, and standard IR remote control and user manual. It contain most all of what you’ll need, aside from a Digital TV antenna, which is not included.
Looks
The KI Plus is a rectangle made of black plastic, with the model name printed in white letters on top of it. On the left we can see the indication LED/Power button. The KI Plus can also be turned off and on from the included Remote control.
I also took screenshots of the Main and app screens, as they are different than the standard launchers usually included with these boxes:

Benchmarks and Testing
All benchmarks have been repeated 3 times and results have been averaged to give a more accurate reading:
Antutu Benchmark
The Antutu benchmark tests single core performance over multi-core as it is a better indication of the performance of one device over others in most situations. Antutu 6.0.1 crashed at the end of each run, although it did complete it. I also experienced sound artifacts (fast chirping sound) during the 3d testing, where music was supposed to be playing in the background. The results of the tests draw a mixed picture, where in the older 5.7.3 version, the box takes the very last spot of the S905 based boxes, but in the newer 6.0.1 version, it sits pretty in the middle.
GPU Mark Benchmark
GPU Mark tests 3d gaming performance and also provides a normalized score according to the used screen resolution (for a more accurate result). The test is quite short and should be taken as a supporting result to that of the more serious 3D Mark benchmark. Both graphs shows the same grim picture: This device is not optimized for gaming or 3d heavy tasks. In both it takes the place before last, coming only before the weakest device I tested so far.
A1 SD Benchmark
A1 SD Benchmark tests RAM and flash memory speeds. As can be seen in the provided graphs, RAM is much faster (by a factor of about 40) than flash memory – that is why it’s in smaller amount and is also volatile (does not keep its contents after a reboot). Here we see a mixed picture again, with the storage showing low results (in the last 4 places) while the RAM speed shows its muscle as it settles in the 4th place!
PC Mark Benchmark
The PC Mark benchmark test suite gives a more task/day oriented picture of performance. Things like photo editing, web browsing and video playback are tested. The KI Plus takes a nice middle seat as it shows it is more than capable at performing day-to-day android tasks.
3D Mark Benchmark
3D Mark benchmark is considered as one of the best ways to test 3d performance on Android (and other platforms). Interestingly, unlike GPUMark, 3dmark shows the KI Plus a medium score that makes it a descent box for casual gaming. This is supported by actual gaming I tested as mentioned later.
Video Playback testing (Using KODI)
Resolution Video Format Local Playback Network (Wi-Fi/LAN) Playback 720p (1280*720) AVC ([email protected]) Playing correctly Playing correctly 1080P (1920*1080) AVC (High@L4) Playing correctly Playing correctly 4K/UHD (4096*2304) AVC ([email protected]) Playing correctly Buffering and stutter 2160P (3840*2160) HEVC (H.265) Playing correctly Playing correctly 4K TS HEVC files HEVC (H.265) 10Bit Playing correctly only from Movieplayer app Does not play
There seems to be room for improvement in the playback capability of the KI Plus. Mostly when it comes to Kodi, as I experienced some instability with the customized version that comes pre-installed on the KI Plus. Bear in mind, this is an early production sample, and the device is not widely available.
I experienced some Kodi crashes out to the android desktop (or app list) and noticed that the KI Plus does not actually retain programs in its memory (most likely to keep better performance, as there is no task killer/memory cleaning app) – so if you would switch from Kodi out to the desktop (“Home” button on the remote), it will actually force close the app, and when you re-open Kodi, it will go through the initial splash screen and content update procedure again.
I also noticed that 10 Bit TS files do not play (at all) inside Kodi. I have tried Kodi 15.2 official release, Kodi 16 Beta 5, and SPMC 15. All had issues playing back content on this device, and one would not show video playback at all (16 Beta 5). The 10 bit content did play correctly in the included movieplayer app – but only locally as the app does not have network connectivity on its own.
This leads me to believe that the KI Plus needs some thorough work in regard to Kodi compatibility and stability.
Digital TV performance
This is a special addition, as this box supports DVB-T2 and DVB-S2 digital TV protocols, and does it well. This capability is accessible both from the app list, and from the remote by pressing a button labeled “DTV”.
It uses a special app that comes pre-installed, called “DTV”. Upon opening the app (each and every time) you’re presented by the choice of one of the tuners: DVB-S2 or DVB-T2.
You’re also presented, only on the first time, with the option of scanning for channels. You’ll need to make sure you get an external antenna (not included in the package) or have an existing digital TV antenna at hand. The scanning process was fast, and reception was quite great, even if I left the small antenna I used in the room rather than placing it outside the near window.
Picture and sound quality are both great, especially in HD, but standard SD quality is good and stable as well. Recording is possible – either to the (Micro)SD card, or to an external USB drive. This can be set in the app settings, and record schedules can be set from the EPG by clicking on the desired program to set recording, or within a program – clicking on the remote control record button to initiate. I have successfully recorded a test segment of a Full HD program.
I did notice two issues: the first being that certain HD channels could not produce sound, even though they recognized the audio track (usually AC3 encoding), and the second – de-synchronization between the video and the audio. The audio did slowly catch up with the video in time.
Issues and bugs
Kodi Add-ons did not always install properly at first time each time. Some required repeat attempts to get installed.
Google play games service crashes upon running, and so does not function correctly inside games.
Volume and/or information overlay comes up on kodi while playing back video without user interaction, occasionally.
10 mb bug is present. When attaching big capacity USB drives, they show as 10 mb drives, and do not allow file operations other than read.
Antutu 6.0.1 crashes out at the end of testing, and produces a weak chirping sound during 3d tests (when there’s supposed to be background music).
Digital TV – AC3 audio on some HD channels would not play sound.
The pre-installed Kodi 15.2 custom version proved unstable as it crashed out to the desktop several times, mostly when stopping playback, but a couple of times just while navigating the menu.
Other Kodi/SPMC versions did not work well on this box. They either showed a quarter screen playback image, no image at all, or had other issues.
Network performance
Network performance has been tested using Speedtest.net Internet speed measuring app, in WiFi and in Wired mode. My Internet connection is 200 Mbit Symmetric Fibre connection. The included WiFi is 2.4 GHz only (802.11n) and so is quite limited. Wired speed is good:
Wired, over power lines (AV500)
WiFi – 2.4 GHz
Gaming performance
I use an application called “GameBench” to measure frame rate and resource usage in games. The application did crash during testing, but I was able to run it long enough to gather resource usage information:
Asphalt 8 Airborne – a 3d graphic intensive racing game. The game run fine, but not completely smooth.
Angry Birds 2 – a popular 2d action game. Runs smoothly most of the time, with bits of slowdown both in-game and in menus.
Walking War Robots – an online robot warfare game that requires a game-pad (I don’t have a game-pad). WWR ran quite smoothly, but did produce an annoying static or distortion sound all through playing.
Conclusions
Did I like it? Yes, I did. The KI Plus is a interesting and good contender in the s905 crowded scene. The (now) standard s905 related issues are expected to be resolved in coming firmware updates, and this box offers out-of-the-box rooting (although I advise to install SuperSu to make the most of it). And then there’s the built-in Digital TV support. For many Kodi enthusiasts this box will give an almost perfect all-around solution which gives them crisp HD terrestrial digital channels which do not depend on internet availability on top of the good video decoding ability offered by the Amlogic S905 chipset.
Would I recommend it? Definitely. It has a few issues to patch up, but all in all it’s a great combined solution for a very good price.

Best Kodi/XBMC streaming boxes 2018: the best hardware for Kodi streaming
http://www.internetunleashed.co.uk/?p=26649 Best Kodi/XBMC streaming boxes 2018: the best hardware for Kodi streaming - http://www.internetunleashed.co.uk/?p=26649 Kodi boxes are a massive success no matter how you slice them. The best models deliver 4K video to your TV and allow you unfettered access to audio and video streams of every format and service. If there's a better, more versatile piece of AV software out there, we've yet to see it. On top of giving you the capability to stream video and music files over a local network, the software also includes the ability to install add-ons to stream from almost any streaming service you could think of, including Amazon Prime Instant Video, Spotify and Netflix. One of the main selling points of Kodi is the fact that it’s supported by pretty much any platform you could think of, up to and including macOS, Android, Linux and Windows. The only real drawback we can think of is that Kodi doesn’t actually manufacture streaming boxes (no, the official Kodi Raspberry Pi case doesn't count), so you need to find your own device to run it on.Luckily, dozens of manufacturers the world over are more than happy to provide some to you. In fact, to be totally honest, the requirements for running Kodi are almost laughably low: all you need is a 3D capable GPU graphics hardware controller for all rendering, a Dual-core 2GHz or better CPU, and 1GB of RAM. That said, while there are plenty of boxes available with Kodi pre-installed, you have to be careful. So-called 'fully loaded' Kodi boxes come with lots of add-ons that give you access to pirated content. Unsurprisingly, there's a huge crackdown on these types of boxes, with the EU declaring them illegal. The best solution is to find a compatible media box and manually install Kodi. And with this guide, we’ve gathered together the best Kodi streaming boxes on the market in 2018. For each, we've tested how easy it is to install Kodi, how smoothly it runs, and how each handles playing 1080p or 4K video. You will find the best VPN services for Kodi and check out our best Android boxes buying guide as well. Putting Kodi on the Amazon Fire TV takes a bit of finagling, yes, but when it's on there the world of streaming video will be your oyster. We prefer the latest iteration of Amazon's streaming device because it delivers 4K HDR video via a small, inconspicuous dongle. It's easy to hide out of sight and does nothing to mar the appearance of a perfectly clean entertainment center. In terms of specs, the Amazon Fire TV has a Quad core ARM Cortex-A53 CPU with speeds up to 1.5GHz. It uses the Amlogic S905Z SoC architecture and supports 32-bit apps. Inside you've got 2GB of RAM and 8GB of storage. Its Wi-Fi antenna supports 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac; 2x2 MIMO (2.4 GHz and 5.0 GHz dual band) which means it can handle 4K streams without a problem. Our only problem with the Amazon Fire TV is that the remote isn't the best. It's made from a plastic material and, due to its small stature, can be easily lost. Minor qualms aside, however, this is probably the best Kodi box on the market right now.Read the full review: Amazon Fire TV (2017) The Amazon Fire TV Stick is one of the most popular streaming devices among Kodi users – and it has been for a while. With the 2017 version of the Fire TV Stick, things are even better. A faster processor makes the media streamer 30% faster than the old one, according to Amazon. The new stick also features Alexa support built in (although this doesn't work with Kodi), and the device is only slightly more expensive than the original. However, getting Kodi on the Fire TV Stick can be a bit of a hassle, as the app is not listed in the Amazon app store. Instead, you have to sideload Kodi. Once installed, though, the Fire TV stick is phenomenal. Check out our guide on how to install Kodi on a Fire TV Stick The included Bluetooth remote control effortlessly navigates through Kodi’s menus and interface. While the older Fire TV struggled a little to navigate Kodi's menus smoothly, the new model has no such trouble with the default skin.Keep in mind that the Fire TV’s HDMI output only supports up to 1080p video. Testing, we found that our 1080p videos played smoothly; 4K videos launched and were downscaled, but we soon ran into buffering problems as the Fire TV struggled to keep up with the high quality video. If you don't care about not having 4K and want a small, simple device that can handle 1080p Kodi, as well as Netflix and Amazon Prime Instant Video, this is the best Kodi streaming box for you. Read the full review: Amazon Fire TV Stick The Amazon Fire TV is a top choice for anyone that wants a great all-rounder. At its heart, this media player is an excellent choice for Amazon Prime Instant Video and Netflix, supporting both services in 4K with HDR, but the power to play Ultra HD content means that the Fire TV is also rather good for Kodi.As with the Amazon Fire TV Stick, Kodi is not available through the official app store, so it has to be sideloaded. This is slightly annoying to do, but not overly difficult. Once installed, Kodi can be launched quickly from the main menu. Check out our guide on how to install Kodi on the Amazon Fire TV Kodi runs beautifully smoothly on the Fire TV and takes just a few seconds to load. Amazon's excellent Voice Remote is great for navigation and connects via Bluetooth, so you don't need line of sight; voice commands are not supported in Kodi, though. We tested using 1080p and 4K videos, with both playing smoothly. The Fire TV has 802.11ac Wi-Fi built in, but if your home network isn't fast enough to play video without buffering, there's an Ethernet port, too. While streaming is the easiest option, the Fire TV has a microSD card slot so that you can load this up with movies. Given the media player's small dimensions, you can load it up with content for travelling. If you want Kodi in 4K, but want access to other streaming services, too, the Amazon Fire TV is the box to buy.Read the full review: Amazon Fire TV The is the most powerful Android set-top box that we've reviewed. It's designed with all types of 4K home entertainment in mind, from Netflix to the latest games via Geforce Now. Unsurprisingly, this power makes the Nvidia Shield one of the best boxes for Kodi.Running Android TV on Android 6.0, the Nvidia Shield is one of the easiest boxes to configure Kodi on. With Google Play reconfigured for your TV screen and remote control, rather than a touchscreen, installing Kodi was an absolute breeze; in fact, we didn't have to type anything, since we were able to use the voice search provided by the remote control to find the Kodi app.Kodi started in just a couple of seconds, with the box recovering from standby in a similar amount of time. There are no lengthy waits with the Nvidia Shield.Once in Kodi performance was exceptional, with super-smooth menus and animations across the board. The menus and interface were easy to navigate using the excellent bundled remote control, too.We tested 4K and 1080p videos, with both streaming smoothly. The Shield could also easily downsample 4K video to fill a 1080p TV, too. We had no problems using the built-in 802.11ac Wi-Fi; if your network signal isn't strong enough, there's an Ethernet port in the back.Considering the small size of the Nvidia Shield, the performance is phenomenal. If you don't care about the gaming content, the Amazon Fire TV is better value for 4K playback; if you want the absolute best performance, this is the media streamer to buy.Read the full review: Want 4K, but don't want to pay over the top for a box that can handle it? You need the Android-powered Seguro Trongle X4. There's always a slight fear that bargain-basement products have severe limitations, but the Trongle X4 is refreshingly good, with only the minor annoyance. Measuring just 110mm square with a height of 17mm, the Trongle X4 is also one of the smallest set-top boxes that we've seen.Wi-Fi is built in, but the X4 couldn't see our 5GHz 802.11ac network, so could only connect via 2.4GHz. The connection was painfully slow, so we recommend using the Ethernet connection at the back instead. As the X4 runs full Android 6.0, the Google Play Store is built in, making it straightforward to install Kodi (or other Android apps). As the play store is designed for touch, navigating it with a remote control is a little painful. It's handy that the remote has a Mouse button, so you can move an on-screen pointer to make selection a little easier, though. Once installed, Kodi can be pinned to the front screen, making it easy to launch; the only thing you have to wait for is the X4's 25s boot time, as there's no fast standby mode. The X4's HDMI 2.0b output supports HDR10 and HLG HDR processing, along with Ultra HD resolutions, so you'll easily be able to play the best-looking content on this box. After all of the latest updates had downloaded and installed, Kodi ran smoothly on the X4, quickly connecting to our shared folders. We tested both 1080p and 4K films, with all playing smoothly, thanks to the 2GHz quad-core Amlogic S905X CPU. Buffering becomes an issue over Wi-Fi, but we had no such problems when using Ethernet. There's even a microSD card slot (up to 32GB), so you can store content locally and carry the X4 around with you, making it great for holidays. The Amazon Fire TV and Nvidia Shield are slicker for 4K, but this is a good budget option. The is a brilliant little computer for all types of projects, and its diminutive size makes it an attractive option for building a tiny Kodi media centre. The Raspberry Pi Foundation makes this easy, too, with NOOBS supporting two pre-built options: LibreELEC and OSMC. We've used OSMC for this guide.Once installed, the Pi 3 boots into OSMC and runs you through a quick configuration wizard before moving to Kodi. After that, the Raspberry Pi 3 takes around 20s to power on. OSMC gives you a custom skin designed for the Pi, although you can switch back to the Classic option. We recommend avoiding over-complicated skins, as the Pi may struggle to run them. As it stands, the default skins work well, but the animations are only just on the right side of smooth. It's also worth buying a fast microSD card so that the Pi 3 boots quickly and remains responsive. Thanks to its quad-core CPU, we found that that the Raspberry Pi 3 could handle 1080p videos easily. There's no Ultra HD support from the HDMI output, and the Pi 3 can't downscale 4K movies. With our test 4K footage, the Pi showed a broken image and became very jerky to use. Given the 802.11n Wi-Fi built into the Pi 3, you may find that you need to use the wired Ethernet connection if your wireless network signal isn't strong enough and you get buffering issues. The Pi 3 comes without a case, so you'll need to budget for one. It doesn't ship with a remote, either, although you may be able to control Kodi using an HDMI CEC-compatible TV's remote; the smartphone app is otherwise the easiest method. If you have a Raspberry Pi 3 already, it will make a decent 1080p Kodi media centre. If you don't have one, the Amazon Fire TV Stick is a better choice, and cheaper considering it comes with a remote and doesn't need a case.Read the full review: Raspberry Pi 3 The Emtec GEM Box might seem like a good choice for Kodi, but we'd only recommend it if you've already got the box itself lying around. Running Android 4.4, the GEM Box is not compatible with the latest builds of Kodi, and the Google Play Store doesn't show the software as available for download.Instead, you have to install the Complete Kodi Setup Wizard, which gives you access to older versions of the software. From here, we could install Kodi 15.2 Isengard instead. It's fiddly using to Google Play Store to install the Setup Wizard, and we had to flick the switch at the bottom of the game controller to move between normal and mouse mode in order to select the search box and installation options.Kodi 15.2 ran smoothly enough on our GEM Box, and we soon had it set up to stream content. Full HD content played without trouble. The GEM Box doesn't have a 4K output, nor can it downsample 4K video; our Ultra HD video just crashed the media player, and we had to cycle the power. Struggling with larger video files shows that the quad-core processor is a little behind the times. We had no problems streaming videos over either the 2.4GHz Wi-Fi or Ethernet connections. If you want local storage, the GEM Box can take a microSD card, for locally stored video. That can make the diminutive GEM Box a handy device to carry around. The issue with the GEM Box is its price and out-of-date operating system. If you have one already, being able to install Kodi is useful; if you want to buy a new Kodi box, look elsewhere in this guide. The PC is the most versatile platform on Earth, so why not use it to build your very own Kodi box? Yes, the total cost will outstrip that of the other models here, but you'll get a more powerful unit that can run more than just Kodi. There are lots of options to go for, too. The simplest is to buy a pre-made mini PC. We tested on the excellent, but not widely available, Asus VivoMini VC65. This tiny computer measures 197 x 196 x 62mm, so will easily squeeze underneath your TV. There's even a version with a built-in DVD drive, too.The other option is to build your own computer - check out our guide on how to build a console-sized gaming PC for a good guide. The benefit of the second option is that you can specify the exact PC you want, so that it can even play the latest games. There are a few things to watch out for. First, integrated graphics on Intel processors only support an HDMI 1.4 output. That means you're restricted to 4K at a jerky 24Hz; you have to use DisplayPort to get the full 60Hz in Ultra HD. For that reason, you will need a mini PC with a dedicated graphics card that has an HDMI 2.0 output. You don't get a dedicated remote control with most PCs, but the control options are huge: you can use a wireless keyboard, game controller or the smartphone app, amongst others. This is probably the most expensive method on this list, but the resulting satisfaction from having built an HTPC entirely yourself is worth the effort it takes several times over. Sea Of Thieves Game Hotkeys ‒ Defkey
As an alternative of providing players a deep, involved character creation tool, Sea of Thieves generates groups of eight pirate characters at a time, of which the player can pick one particular. Yes, you are going to want a Microsoft account to play Sea of Thieves. If you already play games on Xbox 360 or Xbox One, you can use the same how to download sea of thieves account you use for those games to also play on Windows ten. For a lot more information, see the Microsoft account FAQ web page. It signifies the game is open to a lot of players appropriate now, who are doing their very best to grab as considerably loot and treasure as achievable. Sea of Thieves needs the Xbox Live service, it will never ever come to Steam. CHAD GIBSON: Yeah. We've completed a lot of, I would say, experimental experiences that genuinely blur the line in between is it a game, is it a show? And there is a bunch of that stuff coming. I am sea of thieves pc download truly excited about that. The last time I played Sea of Thieves, at E3 2017, it did not go well Mismatched with a crew that didn't even want to get out of the first bay, there was decidedly tiny pirating to be completed. Beyond the weapons obtainable at the begin of the game, collecting new weapons is a main pillar of the Sea of Thieves experience. Presently, purchasing weapons from the gun vendor is the principal way to get new firearms, using gold earned from quests. It helps to know what that structure is before sea of thieves pc download you choose whether or not to ignore it, even though. This guide to Sea of Thieves voyages, factions, and kraken attacks will get you sailing in the appropriate path (we'll have a lot more on skeleton forts soon, as well). At the bottom, we've also integrated a bunch of tricks we've discovered along the way. The expertise - the really core experience at the heart of Sea of Thieves - is intangible. It can not be described or placed on a vision board or rattled off, point-by-point, in a presentation. It can not be observed in throwing a voyage on a table in-game or customising your pirates eye-patch, or giving sea of thieves pc download yourself a wooden leg. Earlier in the year, Rare shared a new video with Reside Campaign Producer Christina Parker, who explained what live campaigns will bring to the game and how they'll work inside the game. A shared-world adventure game by acclaimed UK developer Uncommon Ltd. and wealthy with Rare's irreverent charm. At times it just takes a even though for it to function considering that the Windows 10 Microsoft shop Sea of Thevies PC Download app nonetheless is a bit buggy at occasions. This will only adjust the console's retailer, not your account's area. You can easily switch back when Sea of Thieves officially launches in your area. According to the Microsoft Store , your Computer must have 4GB of RAM and a graphics card with 1GB of devoted RAM to get the game functioning. Your Computer also demands at least a 2.6GHz Intel processor or a 3.three GHz AMD processor. A lot of occasions it really is simple to get wrapped up totally How to Download sea of thieves in the unfavorable criticisms of a game and attempt to appease all the naysayers while forgoing the identity of the game and what its original vision was supposed to be. We've observed games like Firefall become a victim of design by committee, and it eventually had to shut down. Conclusion: Sea of Thieves is an exciting action-adventure game that offers you unlimited possibilites. Above all, the social aspect of the game convinces all along the line. Right after all, you can only create pirate stories with a crew. The view from behind the wheel can be breathtaking, offered How to Download sea of thieves you can see past the sail. For the center mast, attempt raising it a bit to let the player controlling the wheel to see some of the water straight in front of the ship. When you initial commence Sea of Thieves, you will uncover yourself in a bar on one of the many outposts. This is the beginning point for all pirates that choose to start off on their own or load up with their crew for the first sea of thieves pc download time. Your ship will be anchored in port waiting for the grand adventure that lies ahead. sea of thieves pc download beta can play in a café on typical wireless on a machine created for operate is a triumph - and it will open up this planet to a enormous range of players who may possibly not have considered it beforehand. At one particular point, a fan came up to us at the wooden restaurant table we had been sitting at to speak to Joe about Sea of Thieves. He asked how they felt about the game and, right after they let their nerves get them greater of them, directed them to where the demo was being staged and the directions to get there. 1 How to Download sea of thieves the one particular hand, you have individuals saying that there is no point in treasure etc… simply because there's no vertical progression, but at the very same time, complaining when somebody robs them of their loot. Having downloaded Sea of Thieves, the subsequent objective was to make sure it was playable on Tegan's pc. We'd each redeemed codes to our respective accounts, and I'd confirmed by means of the Windows Shop that it was a) downloaded on a single how to download sea of thieves Computer and b) eligible for download on the other. Now that you have your Treasure, you want to head back to the Outpost and sell it to the Gold Hoarder NPC. Till you do so, it can be stolen from other Pirates and all of your tough perform will be wasted.

Full read consistency within Percona Operator for MySQL
Overview Percona operator for MySQL (POM) :(https://www.percona.com/doc/kubernetes-operator-for-pxc/index.html) it’s aim is a special type of controller introduced to simplify complex deployments. The Operator extends the Kubernetes API with custom resources. The Percona Operator for MySQL solution is using Percona Xtradb Cluster behind the hood to provide a highly available, resilient and scalable MySQL service in the Kubernetes space. This solution comes with all the advantages/disadvantages provided by Kubernetes, plus with some advantages of its own like the capacity to scale reads on the nodes that are not Primary. Of course there are some limitations like the way PXC handle DDLs, which may impact the service, but there is always a cost to pay to get something, expecting to have all for free is unreasonable. In this context we need to talk and cover what is full read consistency in this solution and why it is important to understand the role it plays. Stale Reads When using Kubernetes we should talk about the service and not about the technology/product used to deliver such service. In our case the Percona operator is there to deliver a MySQL service. We should then see that as a whole as a single object. To be more clear what we must consider is NOT the fact we have a cluster behind the service but that we have a service that to be resilient and highly available use a cluster. We should not care If a node/pod goes down unless the service is discontinued. What we have as a plus in the Percona operator for MySQL solution is a certain level of READ scalability. This achieved optimising the use of the non PRIMARY nodes, and instead having them sitting there applying only replicated data, the Percona Operator provides access to them to scale the reads. But… there is always a BUT Let us start with an image: (https://www.slideshare.net/lefred.descamps/galera-replication-demystified-how-does-it-work) from Fred Descamps) By design the apply and commit finalize in Galera (PXC) may have (and has) a delay between nodes. This means that, if using defaults, applications may have inconsistent reads if trying to access the data from different nodes than the Primary. POM provides access using two different solutions: Using HAProxy (default) Using ProxySQL When using HAProxy you will have 2 entry points: cluster1-haproxy, which will point to the Primary ONLY, for reads and writes. This is the default entry point for the applications to the MySQL database. cluster1-haproxy-replicas, which will point to all the 3 nodes and is supposed to be used for READS only. This is the PLUS you can use if your application has READ/WRITE separation. Please note that at the moment there is nothing preventing application to use the cluster1-haproxy-replicas also for write, but that is dangerous and wrong because will generate a lot of certification conflicts and BF abort given it will distribute writes all over the cluster impacting on performance as well (and not giving you any write scaling): [marcotusa@instance-1 ~]$ for i in `seq 1 100`; do mysql -h cluster1-haproxy-replicas -e "insert into test.iamwritingto values(null,@@hostname)";done +----------------+-------------+ | host | count(host) | +----------------+-------------+ | cluster1-pxc-1 | 34 | | cluster1-pxc-2 | 33 | | cluster1-pxc-0 | 33 | +----------------+-------------+ When using ProxySQL the entry point is a single one, but you may define query rules to automatically split the R/W requests coming from the application. This is the preferred method when application has no way to separate the READS from the writes. I have done a comparison of the two methods in POM here Now, as mentioned above, by default PXC (any Galera base solution) comes with some relaxed settings, for performance purpose. This is normally fine in many standard cases, but if you use POM and use the PLUS of scaling reads using the second access point with HAproxy or Query Rules with Proxysql, you should NOT have stale reads, given the service must provide consistent data, as if you are acting on a single node. To achieve that you can change the defaults and change the parameter in PXC wsrep_sync_wait. When changing the parameter wsrep_sync_wait as explained in the documentation the node initiates a causality check, blocking incoming queries while it catches up with the cluster. Once all data on the node receiving the READ request is commit_finalized, the node performs the read. But this has a performance impact as said before. What is the impact? To test the performance impact I had used a cluster deployed in GKE, with this characteristics: 3 Main nodes n2-standard-8 (8 vCPUs, 32 GB memory) 1 App node n2-standard-8 (8 vCPUs, 32 GB memory) PXC pods using: 25GB of the 32 available 6 CPU of the 8 available HAProxy: 600m CPU 1GB RAM PMM agent 500m CPU 500 MB Ram On The application node I used sysbench running two instances, one in r/w mode the other only reads. Finally to test stale read I used the stale read test from my test suite ( https://github.com/Tusamarco/testsuite) . Given I was looking for results with moderate load I just used 68/96/128 threads per sysbench instance. Results Marco, did we have or not stale reads? Yes we did: I had from 0 (with very light load) up to 37% stale reads with MODERATED load. Where moderated was the 128 threads sysbench running. Setting wsrep_sync_wait=3 of course I had full consistency. But I had performance loss: As you can see I had an average loss of 11% in case of READS While for writes the average loss was the 16%. Conclusions At this point we need to stop and think about what is worth doing. If my application is READs heavy and READs scaling, it is probably worth enabling the full synchronicity given scaling on the additional node allows me to have a 2x or more READs. If instead my application is write critical, probably losing also ~16% performance is not good. Finally if my application is stale reads tolerant, I will just go with the defaults and get all the benefits without penalties. Also keep in mind that POM is designed to offer a MySQL service so the state of the single node is not as critical as if you are using a default PXC installation, PODs are by nature ephemeral objects while service is resilient. Please attempt to save this file elsewhere. A sturdy platform to hold your pc monitor or laptop is just the start off. Mobile desks in addition offer combinations of CPU holders, keyboard trays, mouse holders, writing surfaces and much more. The Software Licensing Service reported that a license in the pc BIOS is invalid.
Not possessing an ergonomic workstation can wreak havoc with our bodies. Right here are some guidelines to setting up a healthful, ergonomic computer workstation to preserve you comfortable, productive and injury-free. In the early 1980s, a higher-end workstation had to meet the 3 Ms. The so-named ” 3M pc ” had a Megabyte of memory, a Megapixel show (roughly 1000×1000), and a ” MegaFLOPS ” compute efficiency (at least 1 million floating point operations per second). a As limited as this appears nowadays, it was at least an order of magnitude beyond the capacity of the private computer of the time the original 1981 IBM Personal Personal computer had 16 KB memory, a text-only display, and floating-point functionality about 1 kiloFLOPS (30 kiloFLOPS with the optional 8087 math coprocessor). Other desirable functions not found in desktop computer systems at that time integrated networking, graphics acceleration, and high-speed internal and peripheral information buses.
This was such a nightmare to troubleshoot that I just had to document the approach. In my scouring the net, I identified numerous like me experiencing the very same woes in setting up their WOL. My whole goal for performing this was in the interest of saving power. I could put my computer to sleep and nevertheless be able to wake it up remotely so I can RDP (Remote Desktop Protocol) into it to access my files whilst away. EDIT: I not too long ago discovered this fantastic write-up on WoWLAN by Andrew vonNagy which details some of the benefits and downsides to employing this technologies, and gives a nice expense evaluation for an organization case study. Verify it out if you are interested in the Wireless WOL.
Software applications for most individual computers include, but are not limited to, word processing, spreadsheets, databases, Internet browsers and e-mail clients, digital media playback, games, and myriad private productivity and unique-objective computer this hyperlink software applications. LIRA workstations in theCheng Yu Tung East Asian Library (Rm 8049), are situated to the right as you exit the elevators. Comply with the corridor to the East Asian Library. We know that power customers have unique demands to run effectively and we take the feedback we hear seriously. Considerably of that valuable feedback comes by way of the Windows Insider Plan Right now we are quite excited to announce a new edition of Windows ten Pro made to meet the demands of our sophisticated users deploying their Workstation PCs in demanding and mission-crucial scenarios. Windows 10 Pro for Workstations will be delivered as portion of our Fall Creators Update, available this fall.
Out of interest for such items, you may want to think about looking at the Dell Mini 9 or comparable, as the information controller. This low powered pc is ideal for at least my requirements. It has extremely low power consumption when in complete use and subsequent to nothing when idle. It only has a 1.6GHz CPU and 8GB SSD with 1GB RAM. But for my use at least, it is well sufficient for my serving purposes. I discover it greater than most expensive devoted NAS boxes, when utilized with a tiny Windows 7 footprint. The SSD is tiny, but is wonderful with the small OS footprint and the few apps that I need to have it to run. Plus it has keyboard, trackpad and monitor, for when you want to do something with it. It only has a 100Mbit lan interface, but this is fine for my serving purposes as my served content’s bandwidth is much less than the bus speed of 100Mbit LAN and USB for the drives.
It began with sensible phones but has now moved into laptops and oddly it is really the employees that want to use their personal pc rather of yours. They feel it will bring them much more freedom to operate the way they want to perform and use the applications that they want to use. They also consider that then you cannot inform them not to watch Television, listen to music or devote time buying due to the fact it really is their laptop. How you handle this new environment is genuinely vital for your organization and security becomes an even greater concern than it has previously.

2) In IBM and other corporations, the term “workstation” is often employed to imply “any person individual computer location hooked up to a mainframe personal computer.” In today’s corporate environments, a lot of workers have such workstations. They are just individual computer systems attached to a nearby area network (LAN) that in turn shares the sources of one or more big computer systems. Considering that they are PCs, they can also be used independently of the mainframe assuming they have their personal applications installed and their personal difficult disk storage. This use of the term “workstation” (in IBM, sometimes named a “programmable workstation”) created a distinction in between the earlier “terminal” or “display terminal” (or “dumb terminal”) of which the 3270 Information Show System is an example.

When it comes to wireless routers, the first thing most people think about is where to hide the monstrosity as they tend to look like spiders from those horror movies in the 1950’s. But Symantec has recently delivered Norton Core, a stunning wireless router that you’ll be wanting to display proudly rather than trying to shove it behind your TV. No more of those black tentacle looking things sticking up from a black base, Norton Core is a very ambitious WiFi router in both function and design. While you may take some time figuring out the best place to show it off, learning about the advanced network security tools and parental control features will show you it’s more than just a pretty face. Now that our homes are filling up with smart devices, hackers are honing in on those without safeguards to help protect you or your family. Back in 2016, smart toasters were actually hacked and besides creating havoc burning people’s toast for fun, it was able to shut down The New York Times, Spotify and Twitter. Yes, all that from a smart toaster. You can only imagine what could happen with your smart refrigerator or voice-activated devices. So, if we’re going to make our lives easier with these gadgets, it only makes sense to help protect them as most of the manufacturers aren’t thinking about this. Another fact that may shock many of you is that several of the large cable/internet providers give you a modem that comes with a password that is literally ‘password.’ The problem with this is that many of these companies won’t give you access to change the password so hackers basically have an opening into your home network. I personally learned this the hard way when hackers that kept trying to get into our website, they tried going in through our modem and routers at the office. While our router had a password we set, the main modem wouldn’t allow us in. When I contacted our internet service provider about this, their techs let me know that they don’t allow customers access to the router to change the password so you’re just stuck with the ‘password.’ It’s crazy, I know, but this is where using a secured WiFi router like Norton Core will help take those worries away. Norton Core defends your connected devices on your home network, like your child’s connected talking doll, by stopping cyber-attacks at the network level. Before an online hacker can get into your network, they have to go through your router first. While most routers have password protection, they may not have the latest updates to protect you from the latest bot or malware. I personally would rather have a router from Symantec as they are continuously updating their software, which now it applies to their wireless router. I had never thought about Symantec creating a product like Norton Core before, but after testing it out and putting it through its paces, I’m left wondering, what took them so long? Design Hands down, this is the best looking router you’ll find on the market today. It truly is a piece of art, and most people seeing it for the first time would assume that’s exactly what it is, until they turn it over. Norton by Symantec obviously realized that most people hide their routers behind their TV’s which isn’t always the best place for a router to go. For your home network to function at its best, the router should be at the center of it all. With the beautiful look, that makes it easy, and the ports are hidden in a section under it. There are four separate Ethernet ports (one Gb WAN port, 3 Gb LAN ports), power button, a refresh button and two USB 3.0 ports locked away snugly out of sight. Even better, is that in the back, there’s a scooped out area for cables not to be seen What’s Inside? Since the Norton Core is much more than your basic wireless router, it comes loaded with a dual core 1.7GHz processor, 1GB of RAM and 4GB of eMMC Flash memory. It has 2.4GHz and 5GHz dual-band radios which support dual-band 802.11ac Wave 2 Wi-Fi, along with MU-MIMO streaming technology that gives it some great future-proofing1. The 4X4 AC 2600 router runs a compact version of Linux. For those of you with older machines, this is backwards compatible so it will have no problem connecting to older AC equipment and even those with G mode. What makes the design so smart with Norton Core is that the sphere actually hides a 2-3 inch antenna along with four dual-band “beam forming” antennas for great coverage. This “beam forming” allows it to dynamically extend coverage to users it detects. Where directional antennas are only able to create a signal beam focused in one direction, Norton Core is able to better distribute the signal when it’s in heavy use mode. This is a huge plus and makes it more powerful than many competing models. Security2 With conventional wireless routers, you usually have three or four settings for a firewall and that’s your protection. Norton Core changes that by utilizing network packet inspection combined with intelligence from the Symantec Global Intelligence Network where their security experts are sensing, analyzing, and eliminating cyber security attacks. Norton Core includes a complimentary subscription to Norton Core Security Plus2 which means you receive protection from the known malware threats out there, but you also have peace of mind from those threats that haven’t gotten popular yet. As a long-time Norton software user, I feel very comfortable trusting a router from them than say a competitor without their security reputation. Norton Core is basically another tool to assist with scanning for cyber threats on your home network using their protection. It continually will scan the connected devices on your home network and give you a security score along with any fixes or recommendations that should be made. What other wireless router can do that for you? While we are very security conscious at our home office, Norton Core found one device that was out of date and gave us a quick update. Like their software, Norton Core gives you the ability to reconfigure any changes it makes if something goes awry. Norton Core keeps a close eye on the data flowing in and out of your network monitoring for something that may appear suspicious. If any malformed traffic hits or malicious requests arise on your home network, it jumps into action. If one of your devices initiated the traffic, it will revoke internet access. This is a huge plus as this is how many attacks come through without anyone knowing what’s happened. Many times, hackers will get in through the most innocuous of devices and wait until it’s able to connect to your other devices before unleashing its full might. That will not happen with Norton Core, it will even send you a push notification if any new devices connect to your network. Since Norton by Symantec has a huge knowledge base, it is able to continually learn to identify dangerous behavior and apply it to your network. Great Filtering A huge bonus with Norton Core is the filtering tools that can keep your family protected from sites you don’t want your kids to see. You are able to select the types of sites your family can access and it will send you a notification if someone tries to go where they shouldn’t be. You can be sure your kids will probably test that. The filter also allows you to set limits to the bandwidth each device uses which is important as some cable companies are now putting a cap on these things. Nothing is worse than getting a surprise addition to your bill. Is It Worth It? This is one of the easiest questions to answer with a big ‘Yes.’ Most users with wireless routers just get them and hope they work without knowing much else. This is perfect for those wanting a more secure home network without having to get certified in it. It’s a very simple setup for those that have gone through the painful process of using your computer. With Norton Core, you download the app for Android or iOS and create a Norton account if you don’t already have one. Using its Bluetooth radio, it is able to communicate with your smartphone and get you all set up3. Basically it just has you select the network connection you have, and then it just walks you through naming your new network and giving it a password. I had my most tech-phobic friend try to set it up, and it took him less than ten minutes, and most of that was just Norton Core updating its firmware. Norton Core has excellent range, and since it’s so great to look at, you’ll have no problem placing it in the center of all your devices. It comes in Titanium and Gold so you have a choice, or just get one of each with the upcoming holiday season silver and gold motif. To get your hands on this amazing piece of art disguised as a wireless router, go to Norton by Symantec website and give it a try.
